- Chanel has increased their prices again...but that may not be enough to protect their brand, in my opinion.

They need to go back to actual gold hardware for the price they charge.
This right here!!! The leather isn't good enough quality for the price and the hardware be the same as everyone else. Ppssshhh nope!
Yeah right?! For these absurd prices all hardware should be sold gold & leather should be TOP TIER.
Exactly. I decided that I am going to stop buying from Chanel, LV and Gucci. I guess price increase is our fault for not prosecuting those thefts after all of the stolen good and heighten security. Those companies have to hike up the prices to make up for the lost and cost of security.
The quality is shit your essentially paying for the name that’s it
Exactly. I rather buy fine jewellery than Chanel
They absolutely should not be having a price increase when it’s common knowledge the quality of their products has declined significantly! At this point you don’t even need to deconstruct the items, they are visibly wonky and scratched up in the store, let alone after use. I don’t mind paying for luxury, but there’s a difference between paying for a high quality luxury item and over-paying simply for the name of the brand. Overpaying for anything in life just make a person a fool.
Exactly!
Exactly
100%. I don't mind paying for luxury, but you have to be selling me something more than a name, especially with the competition that is out there now. Chanel no longer produces innovative bag designs- and when they do tweak something it will only look good for a short time.
Legacy luxury brands need to innovate and up their quality or these contemporary brands are going to eat their lunch
And their aftercare is so subpar when compared to other luxury fashion houses. So not only do you end up with wonky bags, but when (not if) you need repairs you’re SOL
If you’re buying luxury, you’re overpaying. None of these brands are worth anywhere near what they’re charging.
istg this man single-handedly added pressure to the entire luxury bag industry to do better. love your content bro
somehow it reassures me with high fashion brands too. it feels good that not everything is complete bs, yes they are clearly way over the cost to make, but prestige and desin matters heavily... idek why i watch these videos, i dont use handbags and i dont have the money for these bags 💀
@@weinerglory same im far from buying these things but i know marketing hasn't given focus on quality like his content does.. good sht only
Not really, the luxury bag industry don’t care because people are always going to buy their stuff regardless. People with money will never stop. It’s a status symbol. This guy’s main audience is middle class people who are thinking of spending their weeks paycheck on something expensive for status.
No matter how many people like this guy spread the truth and stop many people from buying; there will always be another new sucker. It’s an endless cycle

The problem is not the price increases themselves. The problem is that Chanel is NOT maintaining a high quality standard for their products AND their customer service to repair/address quality issues puts you in a queue for 6months to a year to get resolution.
😂😂😂😂they don’t want you to repair, they want you to make a new purchase 😂😂😂😂, that’s their strategy
All Chanel has convinced me is that if you own one of their bags you have more money than sense.
😂😂😂or maybe someone gifted them
When I was a girl I used to dream about one of the classic models but now I wouldn't even wear it as a gift. I'd keep giving it away or selling it or whatever but I am not holding that silliness in my hand lmao you'd catch me dead before you see me with those letters in my hand
When you have hundreds of thousands of dollars and you’re a bag enthusiast, you buy what you want. Hopefully you get to experience that someday.
Sadly some people see that as a compliment 😂
Really? I know people who starve themselves and never travel just to save for a Chanel purse (or an accessory from Chanel)
I only buy vintage Chanel…. The real gold hardware stuff💪 the new bags look enticing but it’s insulting that the hardware is cheaper but prices are higher.
Hard ware new pale bad quality bad price is high
I can't tell the real Chanel hardware from the fake hardware. They look alike to me. It would not surprise me if Chanel buys their hardware at the same place
they do in China.
This guy already reviewed vintage Chanel in one of his recent UA-cam Shorts. You will be surprised.
Yes!! Love love Chanel vintage ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@remyrickymartin, I have about 5 vintage Chanel bags are all from 30 years ago (bought secondhand) they still look good and hardware are spectacular !
I completely agree! As someone who owns several Chanel handbags it’s becoming harder and harder to justify their price increases.
I love Chanel designs but yeah he's right. The quality does not justify the price. Even outside of the leather, the crafting isn't even there anymore 😭 And I'm so sad because I love the brand
Free your self from seeking value and acceptance from friends and colleagues but rather seek your value and acceptance in Jesus.......
@@honeynutdepressios hope your okay😇💛
@@MysteryClown You too kind stranger
😂😂😂😂
It reminds people not to be so brand conscious but quality conscious.
I have both Hermes and Chanel products. Chanel quality is a lot lower but their prices have gotten so close and/or even matching Hermes, it doesn't make sense to continue to buy Chanel.
I got an Italian made leather bag that looked exactly like a le boy bag without the Chanel mark for 99 euros. I am sooooo happy with it.
From where 😊
The material isn’t worth the money. People are paying for the name
Italian crafted bags are so divine. Brand name or no name! Especially the no name.
I just genuinely like conversations like this. Would of never known if I wasn’t following you.
Protect this man at all costs!!! PREACHING THE TRUTH and calling the bullsh*t out
I’m not buying anything from Channel or LV anymore. They will definitely loose clientele and they deserve it!
Part of whats he's saying is that Chanel is ok to lose clients who can't afford the increases in order to keep the ones who can (and don't see price as an issue -- there are more of them than we think, as we do not move around in those circles)
Oh they don’t care about losing clients at all. They will easily survive.
I went to purchase a brand new Jumbo Classic Flap Handbag the other day (before the 2023 price increase) and I was both shocked and disappointed by the appearance of the leather. I refused to purchase it. I agree with this gentleman. Chanel needs to address the issues with the quality of their products.
Can you do a video on vintage chanel and compare the quality of vintage ones and current chanel?
I would hate to see him dissect a vintage bag.
Yes
Absolutely a great idea
I love the wording. They're not robbing you, they're engineering exclusivity... 😂
Engineered luxury… what a polite way to put things 🤓 I’m stealing that
It’s now as expensive as Hermès. It’s insane 😅
Definitely not a luxury brand customer (they're out of my price range), but I like seeing you review their products and tell the truth about the quality.😊
Been to Gucci store recently and had a chance to checkout their 780$ slip shoes. Leather had feel/look of “genuine leather” they also omit what it is on their website. No stitching used on sole/outsole or heel - all glued together like any other 20-50 dollar shoe out there. Every pair of the same model had leather wrinkles near Gucci logo hardware cuz it was heavy, so I think, there is not enough of webbing or support for leather and the shoes will look like trash after 3-4 month of usage. The hardware itself is the only nice thing about it.
Chanel it is so overpriced, in the last few years, how many huge price increases They had unbelievable. I would NOT purchase their products.
Me too... the price is ridiculous! 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@cavalli5757 and literally any plane Jane is wearing one ,even at the grocery store … where is the exclusivity ?
So many fakes anyway 🤷🏻♀️
“Engineered luxury.” Perfect description.
My first bag experience with Chanel was awful! My dad gave me a Chanel bag as a gift for my graduation. On the day of grad. ceremony, the strap snapped, leaving an impression that I was probably carrying a fake bag! It was the most embarrassing moment in my life, and I really started wonder is the price of luxury bags/accessories really worth it? I also ran into crafting problems with other brands like S. Ferragamo, Fendi, Celine…. and etc. The only brand that I believe has the best craftsmanship , other than Hermes which I never owned so far, is LV. I have had several bags for over a decade and the wear-and-year is relatively mild compared to the brands I’ve just mentioned.
Even if I had money I would buy for quality not a name
Many of their customers aren't coming back.
I won’t even buy pre-loved anymore, unless it’s vintage & the price tag matches, even 2nd hand is way too costly. I haven’t bought a new Chanel in 8 years, & my last pre-loved 4 years ago, it’s just not worth the price unless you’re looking for an investment w possible return. But why an investment piece if you’re already rich, cuz the way these prices going, only the super wealthy will be able to afford it. 🤷🏻♀️
I've talked to some of these people and some would even just buy fake instead, or just plain avoid Chanel and buy Loewe or other brands instead.
No more buying luxury brand bag .
Bag is bag. Leather is Leather.
Everything is going to be used.
Chanel will continue what they are doing as long as there are people willing to pay that price for that quality
People are buying chanel for the logo these days, not for the quality and durability of the goods. They have cheapened their brand and continue to do so while hiking prices.
Chanel quality began slipping after Lagerfeld passed away.
Yesss I totally agree with you!
When it comes to Chanel, go vintage!
Finally! Someone calling them out. Chanel can try to separate themselves all they want but they can’t escape the fact the quality of their bags are subpar from being assembly made. No real gold hardware no hand-stitching or high quality leathers used.
I can’t afford Chanel bags anyway so I stick with the perfumes cause I’m a realist
Same I like Chanel perfumes especially the chance line
Me to 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Their perfume is also overpriced. Fine perfumes should be “Eau de Parfum” not “eau de toilette”. Oh there is a big difference! They have people fooled and people don’t even know it 🤦🏻♀️
@@GriBlancoTrue indeed!
@GriBlanco um their private line is definitely EDP.
Definitely a preference thing in regards to if someone likes leather that is overly processed (protects leather bags more) or leather that is less processed (not as protective to leather bags). However, many leather companies used the overly processed method to hide lower quality leather they use in their bags and small leather goods. So until they are more honest, then I would prefer the less processed method.
At this level of retail the products should be made exquisitely well. The only thing high can’t be the price, the quality has to be there too.
Yup 💯 they need to step up their game (quality) for those prices.
So what are the upcoming brands?
I couldnt believe the level of indifference of the staff at the chanels store on old bond street. They make you line up outside, and then there is no one there to serve you once you enter. Plus, as another commenter pointed out, the quality of the bags, dont look great! At all, it felt cheap. People are really just trying to signal "i've got more money than you"
This is such practical /useful day to day information for me thank you very much 😁
Moved to Hermes after the last few increases. Glad I got my collection before.
I absolutely agree more and more people have started buying luxury bags and luxury goods and they wanna keep it to that elite creme de creme crowd that's why the price increasws every year to to maintain the exclusivity the less people buy it the higher the brand value but they forget they might loose the Chanel lovers who actually love the brand and wanna buy for the love of it. Thanks you for making me opt out and look for alternatives.
Well, as an equestrian, I think,Hermes has the advantage because they were a saddler first, so they have more experience with the technicalities, and the ingenuity practices that come with building one of the best saddles, and I think it comes through in their bags
Can you test the iconic Peekabo by fendi 🤗
Please do Dooney and Bourke!
I've been bag shopping for my wife's birthday and these videos have been very helpful in showing me what to look for. I have been arrested a few times for vandalism, but she's worth it.
😂😂😂😂
I don’t like the leather look without much handcraft, it would look so old school like cowboy style or something. Caviar leather is also a technique, since it does not worth money, can you produce exactly the same product?
The people who buy Chanel don’t care about the quality they are getting. I think it’s solely about having a bag with the Chanel logo. That’s all that matters to them.
For the price of one of their bags, I would be scared to go out with it too much for fear of wear and tear. I’d much rather put money into quality bags and be able to afford to add a new one to my collection every year or so
A huge part of their customer base wouldn’t care if it was made of covered plastic. Its all about holding a Chanel bag and strut around Rodeo drive or wherever the popular street is and instagram and duck face posts.
It is literally like social media zombie apocalypse out here.
Thank you!! I wish they would listen to you. LV especially. I only want the older vintage pieces because they are solid and beautiful leather & canvas. I feel like the new ones are crap.
Omg, love this. It's been priceless to see your growth from solely evaluating the quality/craftsmanship to also weighing the business concerns. Keep going & don't pull any punches!
Thank you for revealing the truth about Chanel products and their strategy. Luxury must be quality and exclusivity and not just the latter.
Found this channel and I must say it’s very interesting stuff man good work
Tory Burch please
I bought the LV Speedy in 2019 and a Ralph Lauren bag less recently. I was shocked at the difference in quality. RL: light zips, perfect seams, top workmanship. LV: Brass tarnished after a short time, the zippers snagged. For comparison, I also have a vintage LV that is 30 years old, where the material is processed very differently. I would never buy an LV again and would buy other brands instead.
I used to buy the high end bags but, now I buy from a girl in the US that hand makes each bag. Love these bags!
If you don't mind sharing what's the name of her brand?
Whenever I see chanel bag, immediately I think they’re replicas because I refuse to believe someone in their right mind would EVER spend 10K on a bag that don’t have the best quality in the market. Absolutely ridiculous!
I keep sharing your content with friends who waste money on bags. Im saving for a purchase but waiting for the post that helps me ❤
Tanner thank you for enlightening us with your expertise in leather and craftsmanship
I love you ❤ one of the most useful blogs about fashion I’ve ever seen
Simple...Boycott all big brands.
Have you ever done one of your reviews with an Hermes product? (I have heard very inconsistent things about their quality 😅)
Their quality is excellent. End of story. And if something is wrong, they will repair it for 250 €.
much as their bags cost they shouldn't charge anyone anything for repairs.
@@tracya.williams9968 small reparations are free. Usual reparations cost 250 €.
EXACTLY!! That's why everyone is buying vintage!!!!
thanks. Im changing my mind of buying my first Chanel bag now
Which upcoming brands are you talking about?
Interesting. Love your take on all aspects of luxury brands 👍🏼💖
I found a silk Chanel scarf at a thrift shop, and bought it for $5, convinced it was a fake. But no, this giant silk logo scarf is real. As a scarf collector, I think Chanel is just tacky. I got an Hermès that same day, and it’s true luxury. It was also $5 and I treasure it - and wear it nearly every day. Yep, dreams do come true! I found my “holy grail” thrift shop find, my Hermès. > sigh < I remember I nearly fainted in the store. Lol.
People are even charging an arm a leg for Chanel VIP gifts. I must say I bought a Chanel VIP makeup bag for I think $40 two years ago and the quality is very good. It literally is not peeling or having any issues. Now for that same bag People want $200 plus. I wonder if the new VIP gifts from Chanel have gone down in quality, too.

you are a great reviewer.
Their worst problem is to keep rising the prices and sacrificing quality.
I love these videos..... love your niche expertise! I hope you consult...
Thank you for your explanation!
Thank you for doing what you do.👍🌸
Fascinating dude!🎉
I have some LV and Prada bags and shoes, but I’ve need really into Coach recently and I wouldn’t be able to tell them from LV if there was no branding on them.
BRAVO ! These videos are like the Consumer Reports magazine….except for wealthy people !
Absolutely loving your dissection 👏👏, please could you dissect givenchi half moon bag mini please 🙏🏽
This is exactly it! Chanel has worse quality and higher products. I’m not buying anymore until they improve and offer great quality for the €10k they are charging.
Hey Tanner! I was totally thinking about asking you if you could review the leather of Proenza Schouler bags. I own one and think the leather is amazing but I’m not an expert like you. 😊
I’d love to see a video on the brand. I have a PS11 classic and I really do enjoy her. Years later and she still has perfect structure, glazing is perfect as is the leather.
@@myhubbyislouisvuitton4218 yes!!! I have a Hava top handle by them and it looks like the day I bought it (2017). Such great quality IMO but I want him to analyze it. 😊
I appreciate your expertise...because I'm a luxury shopper.
Yup, I'm happy sticking with my thrift shopping for stuff that will see way more use for a thousandth of the price
Do you have any tips on how to care for lether seats in a car? How do we preserve them for longer time and what really to do for maintenance
This was my dream to have a double flap large bag. And I thought the leather was the best. Especially for the price. Well, it’s got me thinking twice about a purchase.
Very well said about the quality
Finally he understand.
They are not selling leather and never over glorify the leather.
Luxury brand always always and always over glorify the design, the engineered luxury, all the marketing that make the buyer feels special because everybody else know that this cost more than average.
In other words they're ripping people off by creating the diamond illusion.
Got an old italian dude that makes the highest quality stuff for like half what those brands ask for. Support your local craftmen, not billionaires with predatory business practices
Who is this old Italian and where is he? I support small businesses
Ok, now i think i understand the value of the leather, the brand and the engineered luxury.
I pray Bottega doesn’t crash and burn like this😢
Can I please enquire, what would you say were the current top quality & affordable new brands in the market and why? Thank you and I am ALWAYS OBSESSED with your videos ❤❤❤

Totally agree!!!
Price going up but the quality is consistency decreasing. Sad to see.
Could you do Delveux?
I finally why people end up only buying Hermes rather than other brands.
Why would they use better quality leather if the only way you can doscover the quality of leather used is by disecting the product?
Can you do a Michael Kors bag?
I love this channel
I agree with you so much
