Hands down the best channel. The value this guy brings for free is incredible. Thank you for your service and educating the consumers on the scams we’ve been brainwashed to buy
It was really difficult watching you cut up this bag but I couldn’t look away . I do own a couple of LV bags and watching these videos have honestly put everything in perspective for me that these bags are not worth the value that we as consumers place on it. We have all been so brainwashed into consumerism that we are willing to pay whatever to revive a product that isn’t even the BeST quality all for a name .. what you are doing is gods work please continue … love from New York!!!
My mom wanted this particular LV bag. She has vintage ones that she bought back in the 80s and early 90s, but she noticed that the newer ones, are just not the same quality and craftsmanship anymore. Plus, they also increased the prices. So it's not even worth buying luxury goods anymore. It has became too mainstream, and is heading to the direction of fast fashion. We're just lining up the pockets of the owners and the executives or these brands anyway. I, myself, just spend my extra hard earned money on travels instead. Memories and experiences are longer lasting than material possessions 😉 We've been blinded too much by OVER consumerism. Time to wake up and save the money and use it smarter.
Even up until 12 years ago, LV was, dare I say, a fairly decent value. A nice Speedy 35 was 600-700 bucks. Now, it went up by over x2.5, and the crazy part is, Speedy 35 is one of the better valued LV product still on sale. Thanks for the great tear down as usual. Love the stain test.
I blame influencers for it 😢 everyone seems to have it that they are normalised, people buys without making a well thought decision based on whether the full craftsmanship is worth it plus all the teams to make it get a decent payment
I agree. 12 years ago does seem to be the tipping point where luxury stopped being luxury because EVERYONE started buying it and the prices just went mental. Once it became so common and run of the mill, I kind of lost interest but I’ve watched in amazement at the skyrocketing prices, declining quality/customer service and people still waiting in lines, stampeding in the stores like cattle to buy the shoddy crap. I feel like I live in a world gone mad.
Thank you for doing this video while consumerism is so popular these days, and there are still many people believe that the thing they wear represent who they are, they believe in price tags and brands instead of inner value. This video is a good reminder for all the consumers 😊
I found a beautiful vintage bag in a market for very little money because it had a huge stain on it but I used bathroom creme cleaner and it came off great. I used it allover the side of the bag and not just on the stain, then I waxed it up. This was a bag without any modern finish like this Vuitton. When you get a good bag with great leather it's easier to care for and last longer. I have over 200 vintage bags that I collected because no one wanted vintage back then as it was seen as 'old' and 'used'.
It would be really interesting if you could add in a section to stress test the bags, for example to show potential corner wear, or where you would foresee the bags to wear out first (creasing etc)
You’re truly an artist of deconstruction. I really enjoy your videos. I wonder now how many contemporary and luxury brands watch your videos and hold internal meetings on how to construct their bags in preparation for one of your eventual “deconstructions”.
Thanks for the interesting information. As a Spaniard I have an obsession with leather goods and them feeling and smelling like leather (smell is my ultimate test when buying leather goods). So i am not a big fan of heavy leather finishes because it eliminates the leather experience. I recently saw the Longchamp Le Pliage bag in leather at a department store and even though it obviously has a finish on the leather, the bag smells good and the leather folds naturally. Would you be interested in doing a review on this bag?
Please please please do the Dooney and Bourke Florentine satchel. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I know I am not the only one who would love to see you deconstruct that bag and give your opinion.
thank you for providing your estimation of cost. It really helps to give perspective on the actual cost, vs the retail cost of these goods. Thank you for your time, attention and level of detail!
Super helpful! Love watching your videos. It’s so educational and eye-opening for us consumers. Makes you think twice before spending all that money on a single bag.
It's good to see the huge markup these companies make. Just wish it went more to the artisans and sales people and not just the fatcats right at the top. The last scandal about Chanel being a sweatshop is just eye opening.
It's infuriating, just thinking about it. No wonder Arnault shot up to richest man in the world during the pandemic. That's why I'm steering away from the big luxury brands. Currently looking for artisan brands that are high-quality, forever pieces, and reasonably priced.
They do have a lot of overhead with stores, workers and all of that so it would be interesting to see how the financials play out. However Arnaults financial position sort of gives us a clue on where the money ends up.
Hi, I really like your videos and how you estimate the cost of the bags in the end. It shows that it is not really the high quality perse that we are paying nor the price of the leather, because craftmanship only cost approx. 160 for this bag, and the total of 300 dollars is so far from 2000+ dollars. Such an eye opener. I support this channel
A pretty easy bag to produce. The price and the constant increases is horrific. For that reason I have stayed away from LV for years. I have quite a collection of LV but not willing to pay today’s prices.
The thing about LV, the resale value is quite good. I never made money selling of course, but recoup about 75% made me happy. Gucci only 50%, Coach, RRL about 30%. Other brands like Longchamp leather is excellent quality, but resell value is poor. I have sold 90% of my collection in order to pay for medical, at least I was able to do that in 2020-2022. With the recession here, I am so glad I sold then rather than now.
If you had kept the money in the bank and made some investments, that would have been a smarter choice 😅 People think getting back some money makes it a better choice, but that money could have generated more money so it is not just what you spent, but what you lost from not having it.

In the stain test, the most common stains tends to be dye transfer from dark clothes (ex. jeans). I would love it if you can test that as well especially on a white leather.
Thank you for this video, it’s so interesting to see at the end how much the leather cost. Before I find your channel i thought it was way more expensive the leather of LV, YSL etc .Love your channel 🙏🏻😊
I love light colored leather bags, but I also love to wear dark blue jeans. It's not a good combination when wearing a cross bag that rubs on your jeans. Thx for the rubbing alcohol suggestion to remove stains. I still have many of my LV bags I bought in the past; some as old as 20 plus years. I just find over the years that the luxury bag brands have become overly expensive (extreme gouging) & poor value for the dollar spent. Now, I would rather put my hard-earned money in their stocks & buy a better quality lesser known brand at a fraction of the price. Keep up the great video 👍
First stab to the bag felt personal 😳.. I buy their canvas bags , and leather for small goods .. I enjoy all the episodes 👜 .. gives great perspective .. 👏👏
Great video. I guess it’s the physical stores, overheads, marketing, packaging, ‘free’ shipping and ‘free’ returns that are also contributing to the high costs of purchasing these designer bags.
I have this bag in black. I’ve always known this bag is leather, but it feels much more stiff than the canvas bags. After watching these videos, I don’t see myself purchasing another LV bag.
Considering the rumours on luxury fashion that LV its stopping the production of this model, I have to say you're a brave man destroying this bag 🙈 I know you pay for it and you can do what ever you want (besides that's one of the purposes of your channel) , but seeing the rage of the luxury bags community in this past weeks, I really admire you 😅 Personally I wouldn't dare especially on UA-cam 😂😂😂 So thank you for this video.
@@tanner.leatherstein what you are doing is sooo important, it's helping those of us who would have otherwise never known about the quality of "luxury" branded bags! your videos have also made me more interested in leather and think a lot more buying either from a smaller maker, or paying a justified price for a similar quality one! I would honestly expect some luxury makers to be in full PR saving-face mode in these circles... who knows what posts that get a lot of attention are really genuine. for most of us, we're happy you're making these videos! I just think about how much money is saved by people waking up to a lot of exploitative marketing to spend their savings on bags that aren't worth the quality they thought they were. even realising that if a luxury brand is massive, then obviously the amount they have to spend on branding and PR is huge. therefore that's clearly reflected in the increased price of the bag, not increased quality. that made me wake up a lot 😅

Enjoy your LV collection! I can guarantee that the older LV bags are more reflective of the quality that LV used to instill in their products. Today, the integrity of their bags is not as solid, and the price is far greater than it ought to be. They're selling an image, not the highest quality product. ✌🏾
Maybe that why that bag was called "NEVERFULL" coz the kind of leather used is not totally "FULL LEATHER " but "FULL OF GLORIFIED PLASTIC MATERIALS" instead..... LOVE THIS VIDEO,,,
Awesome work on this channel! I refuse to make someone else rich just by buying their over-priced bags. There are far more important things to spend my hard earned money on, than on something to impress strangers I will never see again. The people that matter to me, love me, not my stuff. :)
Watching these videos had really changed my ideas. I definitely don’t want to carry a bag that marks me as a chump. I would rather carry a bag someone has made.
He repairs bags, but we carry them. Shoutwipes and hairspray is all you need. Shout-wipes for quick clean up and hairspray for everything else. Saved my bag from permanent marker. DO NOT spray directly on the bag, spray on a flat item, bowl or plate then dip the Qtip and dab the marks..DO NOT SCRUB just DAB. Do this at your own risk because I was very very careful and over a few hours the 3 inch mark was gone. I say dab because the tip of the mark got a bit rough because I tried to scrub with the Qtip so just dab.
I agree with your choice! I really love the *gtdupe* bag! You should do a video on the best bags for summer. I’m currently looking for a summer bag in white or neutral colors and don’t know what to buy.
It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on artisans and quality inspection. My family and I have bought 2 *hidupz* bags in the past 3 years and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
I'm curious. While deconstructing all these expensive bags, do you ever see something and think "oh, this was done in a smart way, I could implement it in my work". It feels that for the amount of money they cost, something should be done smarter/better than regularly.
I only have one LV bag (speedy 25)and it's in leather. I find it can keep its shape pretty well. The heavier the items inside, the better the shape. I do feel it's a well made bag regardless how others view as a waste of money.
I still love my LV reverse monogram HIDUPZ clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
Love HIDUPZ , will be taking it to go to work. I love all the ability to organize everything w pockets some w zippers. My first bag had the liner rip. They replaced it faster than I could ship return. Thank you!
Your last line is interesting, and generous. “If you’re looking for the prestige, it’s worth it.” The consumer may need to deconstruct what is “prestige”. I guess for some it’s the history, but for others who buy this brand based on social cachet, seeing this video should prompt a rethink about how their hard-earned money is spent. If there was no one around to see you with the bag, would it mean anything to you? 2700 is a heck of a lot of money.
Wow, thank you for this. I don't even usually buy luxury bags because they are just not my thing, but even i felt that stab. Well done! I sincerely hope you recouped the cost of the bag!
I am wondering, when you talk about the production cost of a bag , you evaluate it with european salaries ? Because i guess that depending on the country (France vs Portugal vs Romania) the cost is not the same. Not even talking about China or Vietnam (since a « made in France » or « made in Italy » doesn’t mean it is 100% made in this country)
Yow. I have this bag in pink. I like it, but I find the little pouch gets a lot more wear in my lifestyle. Being leather, it is heavier than canvas, and not foldable for travel, so not as versatile or comfortable as canvas. I am glad you showed how indestructible it is. I think I will start using it as a beach bag.
Thats why i dont buy brand new luxury item because i know they are overpriced, but i think getting a preloved item is worthit especially if you really like the design and at the same time the brand. ❤
The loose strands reeeeeally bother me. I spent less than a TENTH on a larger leather bag from your site that didn't have a single loose strand throughout!!
@@katemiller7874 I wouldn't call it a game but yes, he does have a company that I've been shopping from for years, first on Etsy and then directly on his site. I would definitely call him out if he was selling trash while calling out other brands. However, his leathers and stitching have always been super high quality in my experience so I trust his opinion.
I have 2 of these Neverfulls. My only complaint is that the stiffness of the leather prevents the cinch ties from staying in place. Otherwise, I am happy with them and will never sell.
This was an interesting take on the craftsmanship of LV. I’m new to the channel, but do you have a video where you recommend bags that have higher quality leather craftsmanship for a better price?
I really appreciate this thorough deconstruction. I like LV's leather designs, but too pricy for me. I wish I could find a less expensive brand that made something like their bicolor empreinte or their empreinte in multiple colors. Maybe a kind soul reading this comment will recommend something.
I am not a fan of this leather type finish, I had 2 bags in this type leather and sold them, it just does not feel good to touch and I didn't want to hold the bags, which sort of defeats the entire purpose of a bag.
Is there a reason for the edge paint being black? I was wondering why they don't use one that matches the rest of the bag so it's less noticeable when it starts to wear off.
another great video. I've learned too much from your videos. thanks for that. one question. what is best edge paint for leather bag? thanks in advance.
I appreciate your video for the deconstruction of the LV neverfull in Empreinte leather. After the microfiber liner was removed, I saw some fainted prints on the inside lining of the leather showing "LYLIANE' ? Do you have any idea why Louis vuitton leather has that printed inside the leather? Or it is the outsourcing tanning manufacturer for LV? Thanks again for the video.
This bag and LV in general is so unimpressive. The lining felt so cheap, the hardware was light and almost plastic like, and the leather was rubbery and felt like PU. Not a fan at all. Can you review Dooney Florentine, APC, and Mansur Gavriel? I love these low key brands that have a cult following. And Mulberry of course ❤
If you can't afford designer bags and feel a certain way about expensive designer bags, then don't watch this video. Like do you read a video title before clicking on it? The title makes it clear that the video will be about designer bags. I find these types of videos very helpful and although I can't afford these bags yet, I know one day I will. I wanted to know which designer bag was truly worth my hard-earned money and one that I would get the most out of. That being said, if you're reading this, thank you for sharing this video with us and please make more videos like this. Maybe HIDUPZ is your next choice?
Hear it all the time that the vintage ones are better ....maybe more factory made today? Not sure but i know i had a bologne 30 from 1987 perfect condition ...newer ebene hobo and already needs relacement handle and key chain strap
Why want people buy things from Designers who are died. Are people stupid? They have Zero personality... Example: Christian Dior 1905-1957 COCO CHANEL 1883-1971🤦♀️
I don’t know what people think but it seems pretty tough bag to deconstruct. I’m pretty hard and carefree on tote bags but now I’m confident my LV will last. All luxury bags are priced according to the demand and overall LV is still cheaper than a lot of others. At the end of the day, it’s your personal taste and style that decide what you buy and what you love.
I am dead as well. I also find your value interesting being that you charge more for your items you sell and they are not from a fashion house. I will continue to buy my LV
I have an idea for you -every time you destroy a bag like this, you should be restoring it and putting it back together !! Someone could have used this bag and now you forever destroyed it. Thank you !
This really showcases that leather bags bought from premium fashion brands aren't even pure leather. They all have a vinyl coating, so they won't even patina. Yes you want your bag that cost you a few thousand dollars to look pristine a long time, but you can get that just by taking care of your leather products properly. You don't see high end shoe makers like Edward Green, Saint Crispin, Antonio Meccariello, Enzo Bonafé, Gaziano & Girling and many more finish their leather off with plastic. Shoes take a lot more beating than a bag and high quality shoes, if taken care of properly, will only look better with time not worse.
So basically it is a good bag with good quality materials. But too expensive. LV used to be much lower priced. They went along with the insane price increases from Chanel to maintain their "luxury" status I assume.
Hi Tanner! Recently I just purchased a Bottega Intrecciato Bi-fold wallet. Do you think maybe you could do a deconstruction on that? Would like to know what you think of the wallet and whether it's a good quality wallet. Thank you! 😄

This man sure has beautiful hands. Thank you!!!!!! Love this kind of videos
I cant wait till you do a Hermès Birkin or a Kelly! You're gona get there i know it!
I still love my LV reverse monogram HIDUPZ clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
The variety of textures in the HIDUPZ pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Love HIDUPZ , will be taking it to go to work. I love all the ability to organize everything w pockets some w zippers. My first bag had the liner rip. They replaced it faster than I could ship return. Thank you!
Your last line is interesting, and generous. “If you’re looking for the prestige, it’s worth it.”
The consumer may need to deconstruct what is “prestige”.
Been waiting so long for this!! Such an amazing video. Thank you so much!
I would like to see the Gucci camera bag be done! I want that bag but I want to see you tear it apart first 😂😂 lol
Get the Gucci bag
I did not skip the ads. Hope you get more from your videos.
Thats why i dont buy brand new luxury item because i know they are overpriced, but i think getting a preloved item is worthit especially if you really like the design and at the same time the brand. ❤
Man, watching you "deconstruct" this bag hurt like hell! LOL!
the HIDUPZ would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
The loose strands reeeeeally bother me. I spent less than a TENTH on a larger leather bag from your site that didn't have a single loose strand throughout!!
So that’s the game he’s got a site. I’m sure he’s selling bags. Lol
Well said. People can be so immature in their ignorance.
I am learning a lot about leather thank to your videos. I got myself your LaSalle Grande bag. I ❤ it.
Whether you want it to be or not...this is ASMR. 😮
Thank you for everything you do, good sir!
Not skipping ads for your reviews
I love LV bags! Sometimes I'm wondering if its worth it?!Thank you so much for sharing this video! Its highly appreciated!🙏♥️
I have 2 of these Neverfulls. My only complaint is that the stiffness of the leather prevents the cinch ties from staying in place. Otherwise, I am happy with them and will
never sell.
My grandma has this bag and I borrowed it from her for a trip and the straps were painful after a while, I think because they were too thin. 😢
I have the black. It’s gorgeous and durable. I love it
Never say never 🤣🤣I sold Luxury bags I told myself never would I sell😂
The monogram cans straps are softer then all the neverfull
@@parishers6351 - which monogram bag?
This was an interesting take on the craftsmanship of LV. I’m new to the channel, but do you have a video where you recommend bags that have higher quality leather craftsmanship for a better price?
I really appreciate this thorough deconstruction. I like LV's leather designs, but too pricy for me. I wish I could find a less expensive brand that made something like their bicolor empreinte or their empreinte in multiple colors. Maybe a kind soul reading this comment will recommend something.
Just go to a bazaar and buy a 1/1 replica for 5 dollars ;)
I saw it too. Sounds like the name of a Chinese brand from Amazon lol
my favorite part of the video was listening to Tanner's heavy breathing into the microphone.
I’d be curious if LV after care services would fix it if you brought it in after taking it apart.
ha!
😂
I was in Turkey recently and had a empriente multi pouchette with me. They show me a HIDUPZ bag and it looked just like it.
Example: Christian Dior 1905-1957
COCO CHANEL 1883-1971🤦♀️
I loved all the beautiful and tasteful bags. Congratulations HIDUPZ
This! I agree, I only own 2 LV’s but my backpack has stood through all of the elements!
Love everything you put out here! I was so surprised by the D U P B A G Y crossbody bag. love it!
Portland Leather Goods sells all leather bags - i would be interested in seeing you review one - they seem to have a cult following.
He actually has a video out on Portland leather:) ua-cam.com/users/shortsANc2aoba_U4?feature=share
I am dead as well. I also find your value interesting being that you charge more for your items you sell and they are not from a fashion house. I will continue to buy my LV
What do you do with the remnants of the bags after you've taken them apart?
Throw it in the garbage where it belongs. Someone needs to have brain rot to genuinely want this shit. Lol
I have an idea for you -every time you destroy a bag like this, you should be restoring it and putting it back together !! Someone could have used this bag and now you forever destroyed it. Thank you !
As if a Louis Vuitton bag is a basic human necessity 🤣 calm down.
Have you ever breakdown products from Charles & Keith? My mother bought one new and i'm curious about its value
Those bags are made by their subcontractors in China. Many are PU, those that are leather are not top grade but passable.
Thank you so much for this awesome review this opens up my eyes too many things in the world❤😮
Nice video overall! Next time you should improve camera quality/resolution... Some videos are so cropped that they are all pixelated.
I really want to buy my first piece of LV.. but after watching some videos of yours.. I really consider my choices going to other brands
The lipstick heart was adorable
This is hard to stomach, this destruction of a beautiful Louie bag 😳😩. But I appreciate you doing this 😊
So basically it is a good bag with good quality materials.
Thank you! 😄
I wonder how heavy is this leather version. Great review.
Watching you peel off that backing was painful. Is there a reason you don't use a heat gun?
Great thorough work! I appreciate it!
I wouldn't say you see the empreinte leather version of this bag very commonly on the street, the canvas is the version that is a dime a dozen
Thank you so much for this review! ❤
You should do a side by side
Of a luxury bag and a high quality fake bag
Dooney sells similar totes for 100s . They could have got 25 purses for the price of one . Can never understand paying 3k
Another guy peels off that white tissue you struggled with, using a hot pistol
