Can confirm that you can join once you turn 16 if you are applying for a combat role but you have to be 16yr 6 months to join a technical role such as the royal signals. Joining in October which is how I know

I was just wondering if u go to AFC Harrogate I imagine u have to serve a minimum of 4 years of service, is it possible to join the Royal Marines after graduation or not because it is in the navy?
Answered your question mate, unfortunately you would have to leave the Army then start training as a marine as they are in different services. If being a Marine is what you want then id advise just going straight for it.
You can do a few months in AFC then backout at the deadline where they either keep you for you 4 years of service or you can leave. But is extending your basic training what you really want? Might as well join ASAP as RMC.

I'm 34 looking to rejoin, when I was in the army I was in the RLC served 8 years as a driver, served in op herrick 7 also, I'm thinking about rejoining an going for the Royal armoured corp, light cavalry I've been told I'll have to do basic training again which doesn't faze me, but is there a massive difference in the 2 basic training from Harrogate to pirbright?
Of the top of my head they are the same. I could be wrong, but honestly with the right determination the assessments are so achievable. So I would just train for the standard ones.
They r slightly different. When I was at Harrogate the pfa pass rate was under 12:30 but adults was 10:30 so there is slight differences I’m not sure about the new fitness requirements tho

Yes mate it can be hard to get people to come to camera, as it opens up the arena to key board warriors and trolls lol. I do have the podcast which I aim to do once a month, its easier to get vets on than serving but I'll see what I can do.
Yes this 49 weeks includes your basic training. Once you pass out you’ll then move to another training establishment to complete your phase to trade training. So Infanteers would head up to ITC Catterick for example.

Yeah, we have Rangers serving in the regiment from all over the Uk and commonwealth. Its not an issue at all not having any ties to the North or south of Ireland.

If your serving speak to your media officer for your unit, I started as a screw. It’s a tricky subject.

Jordan Goodyear you’ll have to go next March mate. The process can be quite long, at least a few months.
If u don’t get in October u could go to a military preparation college, I’m trying to get in Harrogate for October but idk if I have applied to late

17 years and 9 months for senior route ie Catterick etc So you will likely not start training untill then. Have you just recently turned 17?

You can be 15yrs 7 months to 17yrs 5months to apply but you can't start until you are at least 16.

Yes all roles will go through here initially then move to other areas to take up their phase 2 training

Yeah, we have Rangers serving in the regiment from all over the Uk and commonwealth. Its not an issue at all not having any ties to the North or south of Ireland.
