    When I first joined the army I couldn't understand when the staff were so harsh and so unfair.... until I was actually deployed for the first-time and then it all became clear...wars are not fair and not nice...all youngsters should remember that when the lance-jacks are throwing your bedding out of the window.

      @graeme3023 6 років тому +10

      venusvibetrap - just remember no matter how stupid or unfair the things they make you do seem, they're nowhere near as stupid or unfair as the things you'll be asked to do on deployment... it's all to condition you to follow orders unquestioningly.... never forget that and you'll do fine.

    As a sailor who maintains helos in the US it's interesting to see how our NATO brothers do things. I have to say your drill is much more impressive than ours.

    • @para7843

      Good lad I like your comment mucker. British army drill is meant to be aggressive, control aggression reacting to words of command. This then coalilate over to fieldcraft, reaction to effective enemy fire location of the enemy winning the fire fight etc. The British army is based on 400 years of traditions and skills and drills. Hence y we are bang on when it comes to killing the fucking enemy who ever them fuckers are

    Hey Matsimus, I’m so sorry man, I’m pretty sure I know what is happening, but I will ask privately on Patreon. Unfortunately, many will experience this as have I. I can’t even think about that for myself. I can hear it in your voice. Not the same Matsimus. Just know I’m thinking of your family. It’s hard and nothing helps, but you did everything right. Just take care of yourself. We don’t need videos all the time. Take a break if need be. We will be patiently waiting for your return. Your content is always phenomenal. People will always watch. Please take care.

    I attended the Army Apprentice College Harrogate from 1970 until 1973. In those days technician training for junior soldiers was 3 years! When I left as a Regular Army L/Cpl I was un prepared for the animosity that I experienced in my first posting from Adult entry soldiers we were mixed with. Militarily my 3 years in AAC came to the fore very quickly. I loved every minute of it and reckon the new regime should go back to. It produces better soldiers than we currently have!!!

    I went there when I first left school in 1999 absolutely hated it. Bored the life out of me. Left after three months and went in the Marines. Best choice I made during my military career. It was shite. Didn't even go on proper excercises because of the foot and mouth. Sent most of the time In a classroom doing basic maths and IT. Not what i signed up for, I was basically bribed to go to Harrogate and not given a choice to go to phase one as an adult as I wanted to be in the paras. Glad I went with my heart.

    I'm interested in a military career. I was told that they provide housing and what not if you live nowhere near Harrogate. There were people from different military cores that came down to a community centre in my home town. They said that you had to be 15 an 7 months to join, with parental permission. I hope what I was told is true,

      You only get housing if you are married. Otherwise you live in the block.

    I'm 14 now but when I finish my GCSEs I'll be old enough to join the army foundation collage I think it would be better if people who are looking to join the army should go there so when I comes to u doing your fitness test you will be at the right fitness level which should make it less challenging or less hard for you also you will have the necessary knowledge to get through basic training so if anyone is joining the army foundation collage well good luck to you 😁😁👍👍👍

    Matsimus
    What's the background music pal. Sounds like you have a similar taste to me when i comes down to something to relax the brain. Trust me, as a bi polar sufferer, anything is helpful on that front and I can't imagine there are any military rules saying you can't reveal that source at least:) I have loads of questions but it's knowing what you are allowed and not allowed to say. Don't want to get you in trouble obviously as you're doing great work. Hope it's warming up a bit for you out there in Canada too. Gather Winter clung on late this year some places there.

    What Matsimus perhaps didn't explain here is why AFC exists. After all why go for a year of training if you can simply join up at 17 1/2 18 months later and do 14 weeks?
    Well the answer is that the Army is recognising there might be an education / life skills gap for many potential standard applicants, especially those from troubled homes (I am making no implication about Matsimus who I am sure has a wonderful family). That's why the longer AFC Harrogate courses are more well rounded and focus on literacy and maths, communication and presentation skills etc. as well as the usual tsunami of drill, weapons, field skills, phys and so on. It sure does make for better soldiers.
