I went there September 02 to August 03. 12 platoon Cambrai Coy, I had a blast and would definitely recommend it to any youngsters looking at joining the army.
Oliver - well done on passing your assessment, I hope you get to AFC Harrogate in September. It is a fantastic training depot and you will have a fantastic time there. Just remember to follow the fitness tips you watch on this channel before you arrive and you won’t have any issues. Best of luck to you.
@Leon O Shea same here, got an A rating. It all depends on how full it is and when you do it so if you get an A you'll be higher on the list like I got so you'll definitely get in but if its full then it might be later. But I bet we will just get in.
Was peninsula company 14 platoon 2003, passed out as a junior lance jack, Bbr Kenaugh was my section commander, we had to earn our vap badge after 6 months, great experience at the time, them done 9 years black watch 3-scots 2 tours and not worth the hype, PTSD is great.. just being honest
Jan 2001 - Dec 2001 - 22 Platoon Burma Co, Champion Platoon, Section 4 - Squad NCO, CPL McConville.. Best days of my life that I keep looking back on. Wish I could do it all again.
A lot different from when I joined up as a Jnr soldier. I was 15 straight from school, straight into the Parachute Regiment. I had to get a boat and train as i was from N Ireland so i was tired and nervous by the time I arrived at Aldershot lol Off the train and met by a cpl who ticked your name off a list then the back of a 4 tonner. Our motivation was getting a maroon beret and like adult service you had to earn it, it wasn’t just issued out! Many things that happened to us during our basic training would never be allowed now and during my first 6 months two Jnr soldiers died as you where pushed far beyond what you thought you where capable of.. wax it really tough yes. Did it do me good yes! We started with roughly 130 but ended up with 43 after the tests for your beret
yup better to hear it from you than a recruiter, hahaha, they'll tell you WHAT EVER you want to hear lol, too many have told the same story after signing on the line. I see that hand is looking good and normal again, hope it's working perfect too
Im leaving for Harrogate in September, i didnt do too well in secondary which stopped me choosing my first job role choice, since you do level 2 Maths, English and Ict, after getting these grades would it be possible to switch job roles whilst at Harrogate or would i have to wait till phase 2?
Hi Craig, I’m going to pirbright on the 30th may as household cav, just wondering, is the 2 years ceromonial mandatory? Or can you stay with the tank side of it. Thanks

I just finished my 1st year of college and I found out about Harrogate. I wanted to join the army anyway so if I could do it sooner is that possible? ~ I'm 17 as of June 27th 2021. ~ I had asthma but it hasn't affected me in so long I'm pretty certain I don't have it anymore (I've been exhausted to the limit multiple times and no asthma issues) Is it possible for me to join at this stage? Or do I have to sit through another year of my courses? If it is possible for me to join, can someone explain how?
17 you can join. Asthma may be a deal breaker though I'm not 100% sure but you would most likely need to see a doctor and get signed off that your OK to join
Hi Craig, I join in a week on the dot. 11th of September. I know it’s what I want to do but I’m still fairly nervous, for what comes I’ve told myself no matter what I will not give up or give in. Any tips ?
Nerves are normal and anyone who says they aren't nervous they are lying, plus nerves show you care. Just try to enjoy it as much as possible, it will be hard but it won't last forever and honestly you will have some of the best times of life in training
