@@termitesc.aardwolf3644 dont white mages get access to holy? which is the strongest spell in the game? i said this before, but, IF, the challenge allowed to equip other class abilities, white mage+ bare handed is REALLY good.
@@BacklogBuster My prediction is that Berserkers will be the worst. You have no control over their attacks which is a problem in several battles, their weapons are inaccurate, no magic or pseudo-magic, and worst of all: no ability to use items in combat. The only option to get pass problem areas is to grind.
I am straight up addicted to these FF5 runs and I absolutely love the narrative style! I've even had to go back and watch some of the videos on games I don't know anybody about just because these are so good! Thanks Wes!
Well, at least 4 Knights are less painful to do than Monks. Also, exclusive in PR version, you can "recover" Brave Blade's attack power if you previously ran a few times in battle by doing more consecutive battles without running.
_Technically_ there's no real advantage to not running ever vs running a whole heck of a lot. It's 'better' to run a whole lot. But screw that, I'm here for no running. Everyone has to try it once. And if not this challenge, then when? That was a fun run. Both unga bunga for most of the game and a nail-biting seat-of-your-pants victory against NeoExdeath. I had no idea the Defender could block magic, that was a fabulous tanky combo with the Aegis. Thanks for the video!
I have an odd self-imposed rule of never fleeing combat in any turn-based game, unless it's a somewhat different game with a special mechanic that depends on it (like one I played where it was how you levelled up your speed stat.) And since I've always taken the Brave Blade, this isn't one of those different games for me :P

@@veghesther3204 Yeah, spellblade is cracked in FFV. If a status CAN land on the target it DOES land. Give break a try against TwinTania after she removes her defense to charge gigaflare. One shot territory.
Here's an alternate Omniscient strat any class should be able to do: Equip reflect rings as usual, then attack yourself using the Mage Masher, a knife anyone (except Monk) can use. They have a % chance to cast Mute, which will then get reflected - this wears off quick but gives you a brief window in which you can strike at Omniscient with your partner without getting countered.
@@veghesther3204 That's certainly a valid concern, but the Mage Masher is not a very strong weapon. A couple high potions can patch up the damage before it kills you.

even though monk is really bad later in the game, its still my favorite classs in 5. i specially like to give its bare handed to the party white mage and black mage/summoner. as it allow them to deal decent damage.
Kinda surprised you hadn't used double-hand before. I'm a big fan of using it on classes that normally can't equip or don't need shields like Red Mage and Samurai.
I used two-handed swords a lot in my playthrough of this game, combined with Spellblade, that shit was dealing insane amounts of damage, I later turned my two physical fighters into Freelancer dual-wielders with Rapid Fire, but I'll never forget two-handed's insane damage output for the majority of the game. Zweihander gang, let's go!
Knight is one of my favorite Jobs in FFV! I'm so glad you got to see it's true strength. Awesome video! Things felt a little more manageable than the Monk playthrough. i used to really dislike knights, as i was a monk fan. but since i replayed the game, i did see how amazing 2-hand is. what sucks is the rest of its "unlockable" abilities. they are pretty much trash.
Equip shields has its uses with some party set ups and boss strategies. @marcosdheleno equip swords is useless, but sometimes you need to put someone to sleep. The knight is a solid job with lots of damage potential and synergy. The only real issue is that it's a simple job. You either attack a ton for massive damage, or you take a ton of hits or mitigate damage with shields/equipment. Very good job.
I thought “Phoenix Down” was named that because it rescued a “downed”/fainted person, and was not named that because it was the down feathers of a phoenix.
This is redundant now as I think it can only be used by knights, but in the Pixel Remaster, the blood sword counts as magic damage and can deal with Omniscient without triggering the counter. Accuracy sucks, but it's proobably gotta be faster than draining MP. If you do a freelancer run, might come in handy. (Can confirm that worked on an earlier version anyway, I know they patched PR but i don't think they'd change it. Bone mail to deal with drain, reflect ring, Omniscient can do nothing to you)
Quick question because I saw you having issues with Excalibur against enemies absorbing light elemental attacks, in previous versions of FFV you could switch weapons in battle by going into the Item menu and hitting Up to access the equipped weapons, here you could swap between weapons in your inventory, is this option not available in the Pixel Remaster?
Doesn't Self-Destruct deal damage based on the user's own HP? Couldn't you whittle the bombs down, THEN have them explode for pitiful damage and save Phoenix Downs?
Knights are perhaps the best job in the game because not only are they great as your primary job but they give you some awesome features to use with your other jobs. They're boring but effective / 10

if *every* start was exactly the same it would get super boring. I'm going to group them up for sure (like upcoming Samurai/Dancer/Dragoon, and later Ranger/Bard) but youu gotta mix things up to keep it interesting.
I played a rom hack of the SNES version of ff5, called super custom jobs, it lets you also change the fight and items commands. And so I gave my knight the commands x-fight, guard, enchant, and two-handed. With the enchant command I could enchant my sword with firaga, doing 3x damage to anything weak to fire. Making it x6 damage with two-handed. My knight was so powerful.
Did the PR undo the Chicken Knife's damage calculation? If they didn't Chicken Knife would have actually done more damage than Braveblade due to double dipping into stats for damage calcs, at the cost of running 25-90% of the time....
@@veghesther3204 I think they actually fixed that part in the pixel remaster at least. Before if you ran away once it permanently lost attack, but now it lets you regain attack by doing more battles.
