Here here. Danny Boy is definitely one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It’s been sung by many people but no one can EVER live up to the most beautiful, pure, expressive and heart-wrenching sound of the beautiful Judith Durham. I cry every time I hear her sing it, just can’t hold back the tears, how ever hard I try. Has anyone heard her singing “All Over The World “? Pure beauty and fantastic song.
I cannot believe how 252 people have given this the thumbs down? This is such a beautiful song. Known, loved and sung worldwide. Judith's voice has just the right quality for it and she sings it so beautifully with love and passion. Shame on you, whoever you are.

She thought about being an opera singer. She thought about being a concert pianist. She became the artist of millions of fans. Listen to her sing every day! If you are in the right mood she could make you cry with her voice. What a talent!
Funny you should say that because I have often said that she is one of two singers whose voice alone can bring tears to my eyes, the other being Patsy Cline.
She makes me cry everytime i hear her since i first listen to her and now after she died even more. She and the guys are like the friends of every of us their funs.
I met her in a little place in Bradenton Fla and froze! I could not speak as I was starstruck,. I graciously walked out. She was my favorite person of all!
This is the song i sung to my my son when he was a baby, he passed away aged 22 in 2009 from a brain hemorrhage while at Trinity College Dublin, the pain never goes away. Judith sings this as best it could ever be sung. I love her singing its so unique.

I don't know what to say, to lose your son at such a young age, is heart breaking. I spent many months in Hospital as a child, and my Dad sang this to me. Judith sings it so beautifully. I shed a tear every time I play it. I'm sorry for your loss Michael
I feel I must push in here as an Irishman and say that This singer sings this from the heart. She tops every other version I have heard. She is a treasure and a credit to her country, Australia.
Have a wee listen to Maureen Hegarty from Derry singing her version , I am sure you will be impressed also . Judith was one of the greatest voices of her day .

A voice as clear as crystal. Judith really let’s out her glorious soprano voice. Absolutely the best Danny Boy I’ve ever heard. Here in October 2020, who else?

The people who have given this the thumbs down, all I can say is I feel sad for you, because you must be tone deaf, a woman’s voice like this comes along once in a life time, .and will be remembered long after when most if not all of your pop hero’s have been long forgotten.
Elton John, who knows a little something about music and singing, once said that Judith was one of the three best female singers ever (the other two being Eva Cassidy and Karen Carpenter) - absolutely nothing to argue with there...
With utmost respect, I humbly submit that Linda Rhonstadt is the best female singer ever (just my unprofessional opinion, in 4:20 multiple genres & styles, multiple languages), but I'd be lying if I said the aforementioned artists didn't give me goosebumps tingles, listening to them.
Judith's voice has a rare purity and beauty. I cannot quite describe it. There's something enchanting about the color, brightness and fullness of her voice.
Yes, it is unique. She had measles as a child of 4 (in 1948) and was very sick. She had bronchiectasis as a result...a lifelong condition like people with cystic fibrosis have, but without the progressive damage of that disease. It left her with a chronic cough, which she has trained herself to control while singing. It also left her with lungs and breathing passages that gave wonderful power and unique timbre and vibrato. What could have been a tragedy turned into a gift for her and the world!
This song was my late dad's favourite song l cry when ever l hear it lost my dad 2002 to cancer and l was shattered then lost mum 2009 to cancer too and mum loved Judith singing this version of Danny boy 😂😂😂❤❤❤life is soooo precious 💞

I have never in my life heard this song "Danny Boy" sung so exquisitely & I don't believe anybody else ever will in the future. She sings with such beauty & feeling as to make a grown man cry. If there is a god he surely touched Judith.
housecarl6 The lyrics were written by an Englishman, Fred Weatherly. The tune is far older. Nobody is sure, but the story goes it was composed by Rory Dal O'Cathan, last of bards to the O'Neill clan, as a lament for the passing of the old Gaelic order after the Battle of Kinsale in 1601.

Being Irish I have been brought up with Danny boy sung at every gathering n even when it was just in our home .I have never heard a version sung like this it is gloriously superb!!!
Judith your singing fed my soul, the purity of your version of Danny Boy to all the wonderful Seekers songs with the boys. I was at the Music Bowl in 1967 with my dear Mum, I saw the 25th reunion, the 50th Concert, I went to the 1994 Grand Final to see the Seekers, I saw you sing jazz and singing with the Choir of Hard Knocks. I am saddened that your carnival is over. Thank you for the joy your singing gave to me and many, many others. Heaven’s choir now has its lead singer and you have now found the Olive Tree.
These people left us all a GREAT LEGACY. SADLY missed she will be. Thankyou Judith for your wonderful music. You now sing for 😇 Much love to YOU. REST IN PEACE. AMEN.
Peace be with you Judith: I'm 73 Irish/Dutch Canadian. The 1st song I ever heard and learned to sing and play on keys and strings was Danny Boy for my Scottish Grandmother. Other then performing King Crimson with my Les Paul Mansfield such as Epithet - the Sneekers and the Rankin Family made the music I loved. Judith's rendition of Danny Boy was always my favorite - God Bless Her - Ron

Try Deanna Durban's version from the film "Because of Him" opposite Charles Laughton in the 1940's. That one is my favorite.

Being Irish I have been brought up with Danny boy sung at every gathering n even when it was just in our home .I have never heard a version sung like this it is gloriously superb!!!
Hi Eileen hope you're okay?
Judith your singing fed my soul, the purity of your version of Danny Boy to all the wonderful Seekers songs with the boys. I was at the Music Bowl in 1967 with my dear Mum, I saw the 25th reunion, the 50th Concert, I went to the 1994 Grand Final to see the Seekers, I saw you sing jazz and singing with the Choir of Hard Knocks. I am saddened that your carnival is over. Thank you for the joy your singing gave to me and many, many others. Heaven’s choir now has its lead singer and you have now found the Olive Tree.
what a beautiful tribute
These people left us all a GREAT LEGACY. SADLY missed she will be. Thankyou Judith for your wonderful music. You now sing for 😇 Much love to YOU. REST IN PEACE. AMEN.
What an angel she was. Thank you, Judith, for sharing such beauty with everyone.
Simply beautiful I have always loved Judith’s voice, I’ve never heard her do this before, it’s beautiful ❤️
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
It is a privilege to hear her sing.
Nobody could ever sing Danny Boy like Judith Durham. She is the best!
The Angel never fails! Judith Durham is absolutely the greatest female ever born! At this writing, we got the sad news she has been taken up to Heaven! My fountain of tears will be flowing for a while! Why,oh why is there always a little room in our hearts to cry when such a darling person always seem to be carried off to Heaven when we all of a sudden, see a great lady and leave us in tears! God will take care of the marvelous human being that made so many people on earth, enjoy the pleasure so spread across the globe to make so many very happy when we are usually in damping spirits with her most wonderful voice to soothes our souls!
We don't seem to have any singers like this anymore - oh what a pity.
ikr
oh what a pity!!! in my country, brazil, the music is terrible!!!
ravindra nabiel
Robin Mayhew We do have them..Many of them but the powers that be wont let them become in public view
They pump out all low morals music.Lady GA Ga and Katy Perry distroyed americas your girls with their half dressed crazy music..We really need people like this to be allowed a platform
They have to scream these days.
I've heard everyone sing Danny Boy, from Celtic Women to Elvis Presley. But none have touched me or brought tears to my eyes until I heard this rendition of it. What a supremely great talent!
Beautiful lady
Indeed this is heartbreakingly good
Such clarity in her voice
I agree however Roy Oberson also has a touching radiation of this historic song.
I know! I wish I could click the "like" button 100 times!
Judith absolutely shatters me. I don’t know if I could watch this again. I’ve heard this song my entire life. She makes me weep. In a good way.
Got to be the best version I've ever heard of this song. Sleep well beautiful Lady, with the voice of an Angel. We will miss you so.
