She keeps perfect key throughout the song. Your typical choir will drop by at least a half tone during an a capella song that long. Her pitch is the same at the end as at the beginning. Amazing.
Still obsessed with this woman. Sinead was one in a million, that's for sure. A talent so precious that so many people, including me, didn't fully appreciate until after she was gone. Why does that happen so often? It's tragic.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the flowers are falling 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow And I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so And when you come, and all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I may well be You come and find a place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me And I will hear, though soft your tread above me And all my grave Will warmer sweeter be And you will bend and tell me that you love me And I will sleep in peace until you come to me But if I live and should you die for Ireland Let not your dying thoughts be just of me But say a prayer to God for our dearest Island I know she hear and help to set her free

I've always loved this song, but have never heard it sung so emotionally and beautifully. She was entrancing - you could have heard a pin drop in that room.
I'm a 100% disabled Vietnam Combat Veteran (2/502 Infantry, 101st Airborne) I spent 9 years with the US Army and then moved to Australia in 1979 to be an Art Teacher. Along with an Australian Vietnam Veteran Artist we started in 1982 putting together Australian War Art shows in Sydney. We had Veteran's art works, photos and mounted stories by both the Solders and Nurses. Art helped me with my PTSD. I was the "point man" and the team "Sniper". Reading this woman's life history and suffering pains my heart. Such an intelligent woman only wanting peace of mind. To loose her son in such a way. I'm sure she sang from her heart, such a loss.
Sinead sings the words of the song directly to Danny Boy with the complete conviction that he loves her and she loves him. We overhear the words she sings to Danny. Therein lies the power of this version. Most versions of this song treat the song as a song that should be performed for an audience. But Sinead, of course, has the perfect voice and the perfect intonation to create the perfect version of this famous song. The audience, who has heard versions of this song all their lives, are clearly aware of the gift they have received.
I’d heard Danny Boy many many times and assumed it was a love song. It is a love song-from a father to a son who’s gone to war, which is why it’s a standard in the tenor repertoire. Sinead’s lovely fragile version was unknown to me before now. That slip of a girl is gone just as Danny is gone. ☘️
@@theresanolan1157 Yes, it’s a love song from a father to son and a man to his country-it was not intended as a romantic song about a girl singing to her boyfriend named Danny.
I think her drawing breath on the microphone adds to it. Her raw, powerful , delicate voice was unique. Great rendition of a heartbreaking classic song. 👍🧡🌱💜
I feel your pain. Allow yourself to get there. Music is the only way we get through the grief of loss. I lost the love of my life. Our shared love of music helps me cope in an unfamiliar world ❤
I'm lucky i got to hear her singing in my lifetime. A beauty beyond the pain of existence is her voice. My word. She never ceases to amaze. May she find solace from her pain.
Truly a legacy of the sounds of an Irish woman, so steeped in a bloody history of adopted painful history, hauntingly beautiful. I had a friend when I was young a Liverpudlian "scouse" who when he was drunk he would sing like Rod Stewart, Danny Boy and Molly Malone, he used to be a seaman and wore a Pork Pie hat had a boxers nose spread across his face, frequently drank too much and would win fights using the Liverpool kiss, a dangerous head butt, but when he sang he was like a angel, his name was Billy Bell. He once told me the Irish Granmothers would sing them songs to the kids.
I dont no how Sinéad holds it together without crying her voice is like a whisper. So hard to sing like that her voice control is amazing she's so beautiful her eyes are stunning 🙏
One of the most beautiful performances of the song. Sinead truly felt everything to the core. Such a pure and vulnerable performance. Eternal rest in God's arms.
Takes class and talent to sing into a microphone without music you here the star every word omd every breath she takes. May she rest easy now with her beloved son.
When your soul sings. The purest of voices from an incredibly brave woman. No words can describe how these sung words affect you. She is singing from the heart to the heart. Silent and at peace now yet may your voice resonate with us mortals and continue to inspire. God bless.
She also did the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi acapella. She sang it at the service for the 9/11 victims. I was driving to church & I was balling so hard I had to pull off the freeway because I could barely see for the tears in my eyes. It is definately something to hear.
I once spent 2 weeks on a drawing of her. I never hit the perfection I was trying to recreate with my chalk. She was one of a kind, yet I still value the effort. because I came to realize her beauty and talent cannot be recreated so simply. You will be missed forever, Sinead.
I love how the host’s instinct was to reach out and protect her at the end. Such an extraordinary artist…maybe the most vulnerable and raw performer to ever grace a stage or recording with her grace and sheer musicality. It is no wonder the world fell in love with her. It is also not surprising that she finally had to leave to stay safe.

The way she sways her self back and forth at the end of the song in order to control her voice while she is on the edge of crying is so beautiful
This is very haunting to hear knowing that she’s passed recently. It kind of brings it all home. Rest in peace Sinead, I admire you greatly!!
Her voice is perfect for this song 🖤💙
She keeps perfect key throughout the song. Your typical choir will drop by at least a half tone during an a capella song that long. Her pitch is the same at the end as at the beginning. Amazing.
So true… adds to the haunting beauty of the rendition
Her single soft voice, no instrument, absolutely beautiful

Still obsessed with this woman. Sinead was one in a million, that's for sure. A talent so precious that so many people, including me, didn't fully appreciate until after she was gone. Why does that happen so often? It's tragic.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes,
the pipes are calling
From glen to glen,
and down the mountain side
The summer's gone,
and all the flowers are falling
'Tis you, 'tis you
must go and I must bide
But come ye back
when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed
and white with snow
And I'll be there
in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy,
I love you so
And when you come,
and all the flowers are dying
And I am dead,
as dead I may well be
You come and find
a place where I am lying
And kneel and say
an "Ave" there for me
And I will hear,
though soft your tread above me
And all my grave
Will warmer sweeter be
And you will bend
and tell me that you love me
And I will sleep
in peace until you come to me
But if I live
and should you die for Ireland
Let not your dying thoughts
be just of me
But say a prayer to God
for our dearest Island
I know she hear
and help to set her free
Thank you
she's a nationalist then?
I never knew much more than the 1st verse or two so thank you for this.
@@nyrockchicxx i think maybe she made up her own verses.
@@jameshudson169 The bagpipes originally used only for warfare, to call and direct troops.
Only Sinead can rock 'Oh Danny Boy'. All my love to her spirit. RIP
Name me one singer that could give such a vulnerable accapella performance now, there isn't one. Love her always 😢
I wish I knew my roots better being Irish-AMerican. I know, no sadness for an American, but most of us have no true identity....
The most beautiful and touching I’ve heard in my lifetime, and I’m near 70 years of age…
She also did the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi acapella. She sang it at the service for the 9/11 victims. I was driving to church & I was balling so hard I had to pull off the freeway because I could barely see for the tears in my eyes. It is definately a much needed to hear song.
Me too she is really meaning it but better than that with love
I'm in tears now
My son Danny left this earthly plane on 17 December 2007 age 25....Rest in Peace son and also to his brother Gareth in 1982 aged 23 months...

GOD love you all
Vous devez bien vous marrer en voyant tout ça avec les commentaires....
God bless you 🙏🏻 May your precious boys RIP 🙏🏻 💙❤️🩹💙
R.I.P. Sinéad ❤
One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard ❤
Only someone who has suffered great pain could sing with such feeling.
have never heard and will never hear another voice like hers again, she was exceptional and the one time I saw her live I cried like a baby, it was so emotional.
The Gentleman is fighting the tears!A beautiful performance by a beautiful soul RIP Sinead😢
Sinèad showed us that there is incredible strength in vulnerability - one does not cancel out the other❤️
A voice like no other....
Tears tripping me here!
What a woman ,what a voice!
Let's remember how talented and beautiful she was!
God bless ya Sinead!

Only just found this, sang with an innocence that only Sinead could do, gives me goose bumps and I am a 74 year old man. Rest in Peace my lovely.
😢😢😢
The voice of an Angel, the heavenly choir will be singing an even more beautiful song now. Rest in peace Sinead 💚 xxx
Rest In peace❤
Sinead sings the words of the song directly to Danny Boy with the complete conviction that he loves her and she loves him. We overhear the words she sings to Danny. Therein lies the power of this version. Most versions of this song treat the song as a song that should be performed for an audience. But Sinead, of course, has the perfect voice and the perfect intonation to create the perfect version of this famous song. The audience, who has heard versions of this song all their lives, are clearly aware of the gift they have received.
You are a poet yourself with such words my friend. Bravo from Canada.
🇨🇦❤️🇮🇪🙏🍻
I’d heard Danny Boy many many times and assumed it was a love song. It is a love song-from a father to a son who’s gone to war, which is why it’s a standard in the tenor repertoire. Sinead’s lovely fragile version was unknown to me before now. That slip of a girl is gone just as Danny is gone. ☘️
@@marywenzel3199 It most certainly is a love song and also a love song to Irelands freedom.... last few lines...
We played this version, by Sinead at my dad’s funeral.. so beautiful. ❤
Its a beautiful song my dear
I am crying to this - absolutely stunning. We did not deserve you, Sinead
She was so so beautiful, she really was. RIP beautiful girl.
I dont no how Sinéad holds it together without crying her voice is like a whisper. So hard to sing
like that her voice control is amazing she's so beautiful her eyes are stunning 🙏
@dtz jones. Her eyes so sad
Beautiful i don’t think there is any more you could say ☘️
One of the most beautiful performances of the song. Sinead truly felt everything to the core. Such a pure and vulnerable performance. Eternal rest in God's arms.
Hello Joyce, you’re looking very stunning and beautiful.. I really don’t mind if we become friends and share sweet feelings together..
Beautiful voice. May her mind be at peace with herself and the world. ☮️
Takes class and talent to sing into a microphone without music
you here the star every word omd every breath she takes.
May she rest easy now with her beloved son.
When your soul sings. The purest of voices from an incredibly brave woman. No words can describe how these sung words affect you. She is singing from the heart to the heart. Silent and at peace now yet may your voice resonate with us mortals and continue to inspire. God bless.
To sing this acapella without even one note to start off is unworldly difficult. My Goodness!
First time I've heard this. Beautiful.
Singing from her soul.
No drama.
Not suffering anymore. In peaceful sleep Sinead x
Incredible. The most beautiful and saddest version I've ever heard.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. The tears . Wow
She also did the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi acapella. She sang it at the service for the 9/11 victims. I was driving to church & I was balling so hard I had to pull off the freeway because I could barely see for the tears in my eyes. It is definately something to hear.
Stills brings me to tears. Absolutely beautiful
No one could ever sing this song with such delicacy and beauty she was jewel of ireland sinead you were an exceptional human being you brought so much to music rip irelands angel 🙏🙏💔❤️❤️🥰
Will never forget these beautiful, smart, compassionate eyes😢
It's a crime we are all rediscovering her talent now, this song by her is beyond words.
Yes. We must honor her now by carrying on her message. And speak the truth. ✨
