Funny that you're reaction was that they were "White"... most people back in the day were like "What???? These are dudes singing this?!?!?!?" LOL
I'm white and i honestly thought they were black when inwas younger. Black musicians are mostly the ones who are the king of funk. it's okay to compliment
Chris&RheasiaTv yes their younger brother Andy Gibb died very young. The other members Maurice died in 2003, and Robin in 2013. Barry, the only surviving member is currently 74 years old and still producing music.
@@bobbie2wicked161 Andy Gibb was a solo artist, who did well for a while. His three older brothers Robin, Maurice, and Barry (the main lead) were the Bee Gee's (Brothers Gibb)
ACtually, disco was mostly white people. Black people made it pop though. They derived "funk" from disco music. Not all disco music flew with the blacks.
@@livingstonseagull2465 well I know as far as Puerto Ricans, or Nyericans, like my uncles and aunts (Im 40) used to go dancing to disco, and they would always pack the blades.. in my experience, I didn't see Disco as a white person music..
My mama died yesterday and this was her favorite song! Watching this made me smile soooo much thank you ❤️ Barry, Maurice and Robin Barry lead singer badass!
I teach history. It's insane how much young people doesn't now about 60, 70 and 80 music. That's why I use a lot of clasics to teach. They get this reaction every time. And, actually, they learn so much more enjoing it
I was born in 86, but I grew up listening to my dad's disco collection. I still love listening to stuff from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I had NO idea until today that some people seriously thought the bee gees were black 😂
Yes. I look forward to a day when it isn't an issue what color the athlete, singer, or whatever is... But I appreciate their honesty in that they were surprised. It would be interesting to have Barry and Michael J sing together. Barry said they had a friendship.
And these men are another Australian-British band like AC/DC...yep!! Most of our talent doesn't bother with the American market due to exploitation. For a bit of stay at home talent check out Jimmy Barnes ,John Farnham, Karise Eden.
The Legendary Bee Gees, there's NO ONE like them. They have evolved with every decade, not many artists have been able to do that, Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb.
Barry is the tallest one, Robin is the clean shaved one and Maurice is the shorter one with a beard. Robin and Maurice were twins and both have passed on now....Barry is the oldest...his falsetto is legendary!!! It great to see the younger generation enjoying old school music like this!!!!
This music is timeless. Listen to the grooves in bass, guitar, brass and Strings. The drums is traditional 70'ies Disco, but their grooves is 20 years ahead of its time. This totally holds up today too. You can hear in their music many parts of rap, hip hop and more modern music styles
Let us not forget their equally talented youngest brother Andy Gibb who was equally teenager girls’ and young women’s heartthrob as his big brother Barry Gibb. Andy Gibb had huge hit solo and duet music career before he had died too soon. Gibb family had serious musical talented children in all of their sons.
@@joyceanderson3165 even their slower songs are pretty disco. There may be exceptions, but as a rule, I'd say the Bee Gees are definitely a disco band - probably the main one!
Those of us who grew up in the 60's always knew we had the best music, but seeing the reaction of you young folk to our Bee Gees is fantastic! Keep listening!
The plot of the film was pure bullshit if there was a plot at all. My girlfriend took me to the movies, all girls, I felt so embarassed. Music is terrific .
@@m_and_mrs.Claus... yup - and watching John Travolta dancing to their music and 'strutting' down the streets of Brooklyn with his hair perfect and checking himself out in the windows of the stores he passed... to this particular song 'Staying Alive' was HUGE and a very famous scene from the Movie.
I was a teenager traveling with friends and driving through Monterey Mexico and we had the radio cranked up to Fever and the Mexican kids were singing and chasing us down the street. I will never forget that
The sad thing about the fabulous music of 60s,70s and 80s is the rock artist are dying out . The good thing is they left us great music to enjoy for years to come. There will never be no one ever to replace them or their music....
Of course there's someone to replace them - there always is! I find it exciting that each new generation has new music. I mean, who would want to be stuck with Rudy Vallee or Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy?
I am dancing with you two beautiful souls ! This song just blew everything out of the water when it came out. Then there was a back lash in the 80s against them, cos they were too popular, so its great to see them get the merit they deserve from a new generation. Amen !
Jake's No yep, I lived during those times and they were pretty accurate. It’s a tough movie to watch and a few scenes I skip these days when I rewatch.
Jake's No right??? The way that those guys treat the women in their lives is disgusting!! Funny how perceptions change so much over 40 years. That one female character that they were all totally horrible too I can’t believe she still hung out with them! She need to give all those boys a swift kick in the balls and walk away and find a guy to dance with her Who wasn’t a jerk.
Barry Gibb has one of the finest falsettos in the business. They were born in the UK, emigrated to Australia and then started playing the UK music scene in the late sixties. Their younger brother would often join them in the 70's until his death. RIP to Maurice and Robin.
@@kathymcmahon4488 Nope - the Isle of Man is under their OWN rule = not part of UK or Great Britain - they have their own separate parliament - and no king or queen
I'm in my 70's and whenever I hear them it takes me back....can't stop singing and dancing when I hear them. We lived in a fantastic era then, it was magical! Brings tears to my eyes though when I think that there is only one of them alive.
I loved your reaction, because you had heard them before, thought they were black, upon realizing they were white, you got excited and loved them. I do the same thing w black music. I appreciate it for the difference and the culture that it brings to the table. The table of world wide music, and we’re all included. Love y’all
This was a good time in music. Black, white, they meshed together and encouraged good sounds. I felt racial harmony was at its best in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s.
SO TRUE!! THEY SHOULD PLAY DISCO MUSIC AT THE PROTESTS! (Disco just made you WANT to be with other people) "MAYBE" OTHER PEOPLE WOULD START TO REMEMBER THE HARMONY AS WELL.....
True. But i think a lot of what caused the racial divide was media. Police have always been discriminating against black people. Its just now the internet exists, and ideas can be transfered way faster. News gets spread a lot easier, and every time a black person is unjustly killed or beaten by police that just further creates the racial divide
@@mysteretsym No, the media is responsible for making people THINK the police have always been disciminating against black people even though the statistics prove otherwise.

Yeah, but those were only their 'Disco - 70's hits', most for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. I'd love for these two to go back and listen to the BeeGees earliest hits. See where it all began for this fantastic group. Then Barry writing and singing with Streisand (when he was at his most gorgeous). Ok, I admit I had a thing for him then, lol.
The Bee Gees were a music group formed in 1958, featuring brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers of the disco music era in the mid- to late 1970s.
The names of the Gibb brothers are: Barry, Robin & Maurice. They made up the group the Bee Gees, Their younger brother, Andy, had a solo career but died young. Barry is currently the only remaining brother.

Not as white as those teeth, damn!
Also, funny how they remind him of "Led Zeppe-leen!"

I was actually surprised when people thought it was a woman...simply because of the lyrics. Lol

I am 76 & glad that you love the Bee Gees too. The lead singer & he wrote all of their songs & a lot of stuff for other singers.
This is more evidence that skin tones don't mean anything, but people make it so it does. That's the sad reality. We are all human. Period. Full stop.

Yep, that's the truth of it! Wish people would wake up to it.
I'm white and i honestly thought they were black when inwas younger. Black musicians are mostly the ones who are the king of funk. it's okay to compliment

Just to be clear, without the African beats and Black soulful singing there would never have been 'blue eyed soul'.
The one with the jacket over his Shoulder is Barry Gibb! He's the Soul survivor of the group! The other 2 , Robin, and Maurice have both passed away!😢
WHATTTT THEY DIED?? FUCK🤦🏽♂️😣
And also their younger brother, Andy.
Chris&RheasiaTv yes their younger brother Andy Gibb died very young. The other members Maurice died in 2003, and Robin in 2013. Barry, the only surviving member is currently 74 years old and still producing music.
Andy Gibb is the main singer

Yeah exactly.. and we know who's into fashion lol
Music and fashion were always the passion at the copa cabana 🤣
ACtually, disco was mostly white people. Black people made it pop though. They derived "funk" from disco music. Not all disco music flew with the blacks.
@Warren Roesner I'm in my 30s right now. The reason I know is because I listen to a lot of 80s music. heh Mostly punk though.

I wish I was 18 in the 70s...
I was born in 86, but I grew up listening to my dad's disco collection. I still love listening to stuff from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I had NO idea until today that some people seriously thought the bee gees were black 😂

Love seeing all these "First time hearing" channels - means our music won't just fade and die.

Yes. I look forward to a day when it isn't an issue what color the athlete, singer, or whatever is... But I appreciate their honesty in that they were surprised. It would be interesting to have Barry and Michael J sing together. Barry said they had a friendship.
This is why I watch music reaction videos.

For a bit of stay at home talent check out Jimmy Barnes ,John Farnham, Karise Eden.
Watch Saturday Night Fever the movie
They were folk singers when they were young. Beautiful harmonies in their old stuff
It great to see the younger generation enjoying old school music like this!!!!
let's push this answer to the top by commenting and liking so rheasia and chris can see it.
and its ol school for real by the way
This music is timeless.
This band was disco and everyone loved it, didn’t matter what color you were!
So many forget this.
Not just that, high quality music also !
They are not all disco
Dino S. Dominic I agree it’s just good music!
@@joyceanderson3165 even their slower songs are pretty disco. There may be exceptions, but as a rule, I'd say the Bee Gees are definitely a disco band - probably the main one!

I'm 51 and I STILL enjoy this! A stamp of my childhood.
I was a teenager traveling with friends and driving through Monterey Mexico and we had the radio cranked up to Fever and the Mexican kids were singing and chasing us down the street. I will never forget that
I LOVE it! I danced to this when I was 17 years old. I am now 63 years old. You two have excellent taste in music!
The sad thing about the fabulous music of 60s,70s and 80s is the rock artist are dying out . The good thing is they left us great music to enjoy for years to come. There will never be no one ever to replace them or their music....
I agree
Of course there's someone to replace them - there always is! I find it exciting that each new generation has new music. I mean, who would want to be stuck with Rudy Vallee or Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy?
The 60s, 70’s and 8’s produced their fair share of crap. I know, I was there.
I am dancing with you two beautiful souls !
This song just blew everything out of the water when it came out.
Then there was a back lash in the 80s against them, cos they were too popular, so its great to see them get the merit they deserve from a new generation.
Amen !
Watch the movie “Saturday Night Fever”.....their music will take on a whole new meaning......
For real!
John Travolta strut. Yupp
Was seriously not expecting such a dark movie when I first watched it. Really enjoyed it.
Barry Gibb has one of the finest falsettos in the business. They were born in the UK, emigrated to Australia and then started playing the UK music scene in the late sixties. Their younger brother would often join them in the 70's until his death. RIP to Maurice and Robin.

This was a good time in music. Black, white, they meshed together and encouraged good sounds. I felt racial harmony was at its best in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s.
Amen to that
Same
SO TRUE!! THEY SHOULD PLAY DISCO MUSIC AT THE PROTESTS! (Disco just made you WANT to be with other people)
"MAYBE" OTHER PEOPLE WOULD START TO REMEMBER THE HARMONY AS WELL.....
