The song that changed music. No joke, this was the cultural shift that ushered in what we think of as 90s music. When you talk to people who were in HS at the time, this is like our moonlanding moment, everyone remembers when they first heard this song. If I had to pick my top five 90s tracks, this would be in there. You guys should also check out Where Did You Sleep Last Night from Nirvana Unplugged.

This was back when MTV was Music TeleVision. This was also before the days of "The Internet". No one except for folks up in Seattle saw this coming. It just seemingly came out of no where and seriously changed culture, not just the music. This song has to be listed up there with some of the most impactful songs of all time, whether folks like it or not.

    The lyrics to this song
Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
    She's over-bored and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    Yeah, hey
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
    Here we are now,…

Great to see a whole new generation enjoying the music I grew up with.

Keegan R. The crazy thing is you can have the all lyrics in the palm of your hand in under 5 seconds. Back in the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s my friends & I would have killed (figuratively speaking, of course) to have immediate access to the lyrics of almost every song ever written.

Kurt threw a party and conked out on Golden Girl, when he woke up the place was trashed and it was written on the wall "Kurt smells like teen spirit" teen spirit was a women's deodorant, but Kurt thought it meant something else

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
    She's over-bored and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    Yeah, hey
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    Yeah, hey
And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
    Oh well, whatever, never mind
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    A denial, a denial, a denial, a denial, a denial
    A denial, a denial, a denial, a denial

    • @ContrarianCorner
      @ContrarianCorner 4 роки тому +2

Led Zeppelin was actually one of the earlier bands to do this _(Ramble On, What Is and What Should Never Be, etc.)_ It wasn't always between verse and chorus, but so many of their songs contain dramatic, dynamic swings. I doubt they were the first, but it was the first time I heard it on a regular basis. Just one of the many ways they influenced just about every act that followed.
