    Fingers burned by servicing charges for VW. Dont seem to get reported on, but for a break fluid change and MOT style inspection its around 300. Then they want another 150 every 2 years to service the aircon (even though we dont have a heat pump). Rip off.

    We all know that EVs don't achieve the advertised range, and if you don't let them drop below 10% and only charge to 80% then that's 30% off the real world range anyway.

      Yes, but that still gives me 150-160 miles from a Model 3 LR in the midst of winter, which for everyday usage is more than adequate. On a run, I have to stop for 20 minutes or so every 2.5 hours, which given how ridiculously cheap to run it is, and that it will outpace most cars on the road is still well worth it IMHO.

    • @PaulCopp
      @PaulCopp 2 місяці тому

      Each to their own. I love cars and motorbikes and have had some nice cars, BUT if you haven't driven one I suggest you give it a try. The performance is phenomenal and combine that with zero servicing, zero VED, 300+mpg equivalent and no dealer bull***t it has me hooked. They came to the house to change a wiper arm under warranty no questions. Loaned me one for 12 hours for a test drive and zero pressure sales when I handed it back. Mine was used at two years old with only 15k miles and cost no more than a similar aged 3 series BMW, but has 4 wheel drive and a 0-60 just over 4 seconds. You are correct for towing, but it's not meant for that. Have a test drive of a 3 series dual motor and see the future.@@urbanspaceman7183

    This is like saying what is the best car for sale now and comparing a McLaren 720 vs a Peugeot 3008. We need to move past this comparing all EVs to just thinking of EVs as a power train and the actual vehicle as what matters. I purposely didn't get a model 3 because it's a saloon so I can't get my dogs cage in the boot. I actually ended up with a Mach E, a one to avoid on this list. However for me, it's price and practicality ranked far higher in my priorities list that this video has done.

      what? why does it matter? yes i would love to have ICE engines everywhere but unfortunately ICE is will be phased out soon I would rather have car companies adapting than shutting down. also "name only" is pretty much same for every ICE company transforming into EV, how many EV cars still have same driving characters as ICE cars they replaced . everything is computerised, you put your foot down you get instant power. there is no symphony anymore. So it doesnt matter to me, as long as you make a good car at the end of the day. @@markgt894

    Electric cars do not appeal to me because: 1) most of them employ touch screen tech which takes my concentration off the road 2) none of them adopt efficient aerodynamic shaping ( teardrop)and prefer to stay with the ICE bonnet shape 3) battery technology is still in its infancy and has a long way to go as regards economy in manufacture, lifespan, safety, recharge timing. We should demand better than we are being offered because quite frankly, parading around in a vehicle which attains its range by using a simply huge battery just doesnt cut the mustard.
