But seeing what we’ve seen so far was more than my imagination could even conjure up. Everything looks absolutely spectacular so far!!! I can’t believe they can make a world so massive and detailed with this much stuff to do. While at the same time being seamless. This truly does feel like a totally different game. It feels like something special.
Totally. I watched the first trailer and with how the valleys paths were it looked like they could have been narrow tracks with borders on each side. Being full open world is pretty hype.
Eh, Xenoblade 3 pretty damn seamless, it's just divided by region. And that's running on a Switch. I'd actually hope the PS5 can pull this off properly, and it seems to be the case.
@Cobaltios ain't gonna lie but I was hoping for Xeno X but FF7 but this looks OK too. Imagine flying the Highwind around like a Skell going from continent to continent.
It really looks as though they’ve outdone themselves with this game. This might be the most ambitious product they’ve ever created. When you factor in everything. This will definitely be a game to just relax and take your time with. There’s going to be an insane amount to enjoy in this.
35:34 The attention to detail on this whole thing is insane, but one call out is that they even got the chocobo neck movements down when it's eating. It's exactly as it was in the original. Can't wait!

❤ This is shaping up to be an actual Masterpiece. It has eclipsed the Remake in this footage alone. I was sceptical about the free roam aspects after part 1, but seeing this has shattered that. I literally can't wait to get this game! All hail SQUARE ENIX 🤩
the horizon influence is rly noticeable in the world map screen, harvesting icons and UI, and the stealth of course. all good stuff horizon helped streamline a lot of elements of modern game design ❤
I love how Hamaguchi was straight up and succinct about all those aspects they showed us as well as saying hey we know this might have some flaws we are aware and we will polish it up! Im stoked and trust this man is gonna deliver us a gem of sequel!!!
The mini games are so where I’ll be at. Especially the card game and the piano sessions! Ooh what fun the TGS showed us. Thanks for sharing Max! This is shaping up to be a great game the closer we get to release day.
Rebirth reminds me of how content rich jrpgs were in the PS2 days. All the side content and mini games are really nice to see. Rebirth will most likely end up my 2024 GOTY.
Seamless was the best thing I ever could’ve heard for this game. No more of those stupid blue dotted lines, or being forced into a menu to jump from location to location.
@44:52 you can see Barret, despite not being an active party member, getting into position, and later throughout the fight see him engaging the enemy at range
I really hope the next final fantasy games takes this world design because this is what it should be about! World Map with Open Exploration and Multiple Points of interests and interactivity. Also hope that we see more modern sci-fi settings as think we have enough high fantasy settings
The amount of excitement Max has while watching this showcase is rubbing on me. Feb 2024 just couldn't come any closer. FF7 Rebirth is already a GOTY contender
@@GeorgeZimmermen at least the remakes are way better than what we get this year and maybe next year. they are more polish and full of content than any other "new generation games". you're just a f hater and want some attention.
@@GeorgeZimmermen "a padded mess" It's called content, actually, the thing people tend to play games for "No fan asked for" It's a remake of one of the most famous and well beloved games of all time which came out when polygonal graphics were starting out, updating the graphics alone is something many fans would ask for, and they got more than that with beautiful graphics, music, character work, and a story that draws them back into it by adding a new underlying story and mystery "Winning game of the year" It's not out, so I won't argue against that, however, coming off of the previous remake, which was superb, with the same people, passion, and adding as much as they can reasonably fit, there's enough reason for that to be an educated guess, again though, it's not out, so we'll see "Gtfoh" No U
After watching countless videos and demo of the game I can say it has really blown away and exceeded my expectations of scale and detail. The music, story and gameplay are still top notch and what we all loved in the remake. The only improvement would be for the lighting which at certain scenes whitewashes the characters and can be distracting eg 41:21.Also the MAI assistant is great but an option to turn off the voice would be necessary as to allow the epic battle themes to play without her talking over it. Overall very excited to play this special game!
Same! I'm very excited for this game. But I definitely saw that whitewashing effect as well. Especially when Tifa was laughing at cloud getting his hair made fun of in the barn. That was kind of cursed lol. I'm assuming they will fix that in polishing though. Still can't wait to play it!

So during the Chadley mission battle against the purple elephants, Barret wasn't part of the party, but was shooting at the creature from the far perimeter. I didn't see any damage numbers, but saw the rounds coming in. 45:55
All this open world stuff is fantastic, but as long as the characters ans their relationships are as well written and charming and endearing as remake then I’ll be happy.
This game is looking absolutely incredible. The level design, character models, environments, the main menu, and HUD all look much sharper. If the purists can look at the new trailer, the 2 demos, and this, and not be impressed. Then they were never really fans to begin with.
I'm the opposite of purist so I still can't believe all this is actually happening. However I don't know who could possibly not be impressed - this game is mindblowingly huge and packed with content. The combat was incredibly fun already and they expanded it even more. And from what we seen, the open world seems not only huge but also feels alive. It's incredible. Everything.
@@Maraaass Exactly! You took the words right out of my mouth. This doesn’t feel like your generic, empty open world. Like you said this game feels alive…..it has so much charm to it, and this really does have the feel of something great! *_7:27_* *_I just realized, after they put the covers up side by side, that there’s a cohesion between Remake and Rebirth. I’m willing to bet the cover of the third game will be dominated by the color blue and feature Zack._*
Nah that was for Crisis Core Reunion. Since Rebirth seems to be the mediator of red, blue, and green, and we even see red growing onto the logo, I’d say the final entry would be fully red .. Or maybe a golden look like the bottom part of the rebirth cover??? I feel like the blue is already taken though
Final Fantasy 7 is the only series that has a movie, Chocobo racing spinoff game, sequel on PSP, remake on PS4 and another sequel. There is a reason why there is a huge following from the 90s.
That tifa air juggle synergy near the start was INSANE. Also people are stating the map seems smaller than they first thought, but the original trailer this year showcased a travel distance of over 11 thousand kilometers. In a game that is not a small amount xD but on top of that a lot of the traversal later on seems to be more vertical than linear...i wonder if we actually will get to use the highwind before the 3rd game? ❤️
Ppl doesnt understand how final fantasy "open world" works. Its different from open world like skyrim or elden ring where you can straight up go to a place freely without environtment restriction. In final fantasy "open worlds" are unlocked gradually which mean in the beginning you can only access some area and later on it become bigger and bigger after you get buggy, chocobos or submarine. Once you get airship then it will become the true open world. But still from the tgs we can see its very big zone compare to ff16 field zone.
The heart and passion that has gone into this game is unreal. I’m looking forward to playing this so much. For the first time in a long time I’m genuinely excited for another game.
hey max! would just like to say that your FF7 gameplays kept me company during the pandemic. i've never been a gamer but i've started to love this game because of how much you love it too. can't wait for its release!
Max at 20:30 is what we're here for. Max is seeing it for the first time as he says in 24:20 is so much cooler than if he'd already played the game like with the trailer reaction. The fact that people played the game months ago really hurt the reactions as it was no longer a surprise.
It is literally the Horizon formula of open world. Hamaguchi is doing exactly what we have been expecting of him. I just personally could not believe they could make a Horizon-style map, as densely populated as those are, and include so much of FF7 world at the same time. This map looks like it has it will have most of the continent from Junnon to the Golden Saucer and Cosmo Canyon. Just Wutai and the islands are being cut. That is just insane. If all of it is as polished and filled with secrets and interesting things to do, it will be crazy. I mean, it is the best possible direction to take this game. Horizon-style open world map filled with content, main story as faithful and engaging as FF7 Remake, and side-quests focusing on party members sort of like Mass Effect series. Best of all the best. Amazing.
I think them not being playable is a good idea. In rebirth we get to have fun with red, cait sith and get a more fleshed out yuffie along with the other four characters. It'll be exciting to have cid and vincent to experiment with in the third game cause lets be real, we'll have the whole cast playable in the final game ^^
We went from knowing anything about rebirth for a whole year after the 25th anniversary trailer to now being overwhelmed with tons of information, the new trailer, the demo impressions from all FF7 UA-camrs, developer interviews and now this TGS showcase!
Games in recent years have seemed more and more boring to me, I had been buying all the big releases, and just nothing. I thought that I was the problem, maybe at 35 I had outgrown it all. But nope...to quote the simpsons, it was the game developers who were wrong. When I (recently) played FF7 remake, it all came back. That's how gaming used to be, real emotional connections to characters. I haven't stopped thinking about FF7 since. Thank you SE!
The piano blew my mind! ...Everything blew my mind over and over, but the Piano minigame being an ENTIRE PIANO rythm game with a free-play option? I plan on rushing out a FF7R2 rick roll piano video on day one, and I expect I'll be the 15th person to accomplish that, and that's how you know you've got an engaging game on your hands!
I'm so happy that Max is having an almost identical reaction to me in each new moment. To know that there is at least one person that is moved to tears seeing this game that was so amazing on the 90s being brought into a whole new light for a new generation is fantastic. I am so freaking stoked for this game bro.
The piano part is amazing. Back in the days we can only do that in Tifa's room with limitations. While this one is amazing and it is something takes time to perfect. Can't wait for people posting videos playing the piano perfectly. This time FF7 did quite impressive. Can't wait to dive into the whole game and much more to indulge in.
I'm still in shock that Square Enix ever pushed the button at all. I was always hopeful and held out, but I'm still in disbelief that it came to be. Much excite.
I think the best part about the visuals of Rebirth is the fact that almost all the characters look nearly identical to their Remake versions. I really loved the character designs and I'm happy they stuck around for Rebirth.
This game looks incredible. I did notice that in the open areas to explore there didn't seem to be a lot of enemy encounters. I just hope that even though it's vastly more open, your character levels and scaling arent throttled by controlled, intentional battles. That would ruin the open exploration for me. We need to be able to fight when we want.
Thanks, Max! This is shaping up to be something very incredible and amazing.. it really looks like they populated and packed the world with tons of extra content and gave the geography a lot of features, so much so that I didn't recognize Kalm at first. I like the touch with the dancers around 48:30. That's a nice little throwback to the celebration/festival at the beginning of Dirge of Cerberus. And there are at least several little great personality bits here and there. I do remember there was similarity drawn in the OG between Cloud's hair and spiky yellow appearance of chocobos, too.
The piano shit, and the fact you can find sheet music as collectibles out in the world, is the part that finally broke me and brought a tear to my eye. What the fuck, man? How is this game real?
Man the hype is justified for this game. I knew when i played ff7 years ago when it first came out that it was special. So glad they putting tons of effort into this game.
Im so hyped up. I'm honestly happy for a remake of the entire game in general, so if we don't get any extra content on Vincent or Cid. I'm still content as can be. If we get surprised for any extra content post rebirth or the third installment, then awesome!! So as every max video begins with... LETS GOOOOO!!! Also, i suspect Chadley is looking for someone, perhaps soneone who wears a red coat and loves Dumapples lol.
Agreed, and the piercing blue color is gone. But still, I kind of like this new one too because it seems more character focused if that makes any sense? Like what tge whole game will be about. Goodness me...I'm just so excited.
@@tetsuoakira8294 It would actually be quite cool if you would be able to switch the colors (like in the OG) and the background (for example Midgar background). Not a big fan of that wall to be honest :D Nevertheless I am super excited about the game!
Anyone not in the loop about the Mog House and Max saying "its not a video game in a video game anymore!" and "HELP HIM GET LAID" is just too damn funny man 😂
The Piano feels inspired by the TLOU2 guitar programming. I wonder if there is a free-play option? I would love to see the videos of people playing various songs (from other FFs and real songs) in a FF7 game. I will be spending way too much time playing a fake piano instead of doing something useful, like learning to play a real one. Edit: It seems i missed the first part of the piano section where there is indeed a free play option and the producers even mentioned they look forward to seeing what people do with it. Hype.
if rebirth plays out abitl ike in the original, we still visit cid and get the "water-aircraft" and since vincent was optional originally, i think it makes sense to get him on part 3, but cid i assume you get him in part 2 even if they havent shown him yet (Red 13 they havent shown in the remake much either, so.... if part 2 may end on the forgotten capital then part 2 will ardy be a huge game by itself [and cd 1 is actually not small in compare)
So we have Junon Kalm the Gold Saucer Costa Del Sol in an open world ? all the vehicules ? IS THAT FREAKIN REAL LIFE ? I don't think people realise yet but it can be the best RPG since YEARS that is coming that's all we ever dreamed, they did it
Just want to add it’s usually good practice to translate from a foreign language to your native language. I do translation in my day to day and seeing this guy translate for 4 people simultaneously talking into a foreign language near seamlessly is making my brain explode.
At 7:30, anyone else notice how the game covers blend together background-wise? Should be the same with part 3. Was just thinking how cool it would be if Square adapted a version of Loveless into Part 3 as an extra, completely optional, event.
The blue cover is for Crisis Core Reunion. So if I were to guess, the next cover would be dominantly red, we already see a little bit of red starting to grow onto the rebirth logo, so I feel like we got a good idea of what it’ll look like in the final entry
So many saying that the map is not huge as they expected... Well, I personally prefer a smaller map but FILLED with entertaing events/combat/collectibles AND mini games. And we're gonna have it all in one package! Hell Square...

You think they go Chrono Trigger with this story? Magus was the big bad for most of the game, but there is a point where that changed and could join the party. Does Sephiroth possibly become a party member through a series of choices or potentially for part 3? I only say that because its a tease to make Sephiroth actually playable in the flashback but no more, when they could have made him just a support character like Red XIII in Remake or Sonon in INTERmission. 🤔

The exploration was the only thing that I was concerned about for the game. I figured we’d have the stupid blue dotted lines everywhere to help with loading, and that we’d have to travel via the main menu from island to island. Much like Final Fantasy 16!!
@@Ti7Vk3y Nah, Xeno X would be just be OK too, it's FF VII Rebirth that will be spectacular.
Red XIII riding a chocobo like a human is the most cursed thing I’ve seen in a while. 😂
I loled at your comment, damn
Wait until you see him in a Shinra Trooper Uniform.
More like blessed
@@SuperTrainStationHah fuck😂😂 why didn’t they just have him run beside them like Torgal?

This is gonna be the greatest game of all time for me
Eh idk
A cash cow padded mess of a remake that no fan asked for is gonna be your goat? Gtfoh
How about get out of HERE, blind hater!
He said "for me" . stop judging him. And I feel the same way as him about this game
Looks like an extremely generic open world game with an ff7 skin
Rebirth reminds me of how content rich jrpgs were in the PS2 days. All the side content and mini games are really nice to see. Rebirth will most likely end up my 2024 GOTY.
Max like a kid on Christmas day in any FF7 news and I am with you Max! 😄
Seamless was the best thing I ever could’ve heard for this game.
No more of those stupid blue dotted lines, or being forced into a menu to jump from location to location.
I watch this intro all the time. Never have I screamed LET'S GO with it until now
@44:52 you can see Barret, despite not being an active party member, getting into position, and later throughout the fight see him engaging the enemy at range
Kitase just sitting there smiling looking like a proud dad is great.
I really hope the next final fantasy games takes this world design because this is what it should be about! World Map with Open Exploration and Multiple Points of interests and interactivity. Also hope that we see more modern sci-fi settings as think we have enough high fantasy settings
I have heard rumors that FF 9 will be remade.
The amount of excitement Max has while watching this showcase is rubbing on me. Feb 2024 just couldn't come any closer. FF7 Rebirth is already a GOTY contender
Might even win
*remember cyberpunk*
But seriously I hope it's as good as it looks, but it isn't out yet
A padded mess of a remake no fan asked for winning goty? Gtfoh!
@@GeorgeZimmermen at least the remakes are way better than what we get this year and maybe next year. they are more polish and full of content than any other "new generation games". you're just a f hater and want some attention.
@@GeorgeZimmermen "a padded mess"
It's called content, actually, the thing people tend to play games for
"No fan asked for"
It's a remake of one of the most famous and well beloved games of all time which came out when polygonal graphics were starting out, updating the graphics alone is something many fans would ask for, and they got more than that with beautiful graphics, music, character work, and a story that draws them back into it by adding a new underlying story and mystery
"Winning game of the year"
It's not out, so I won't argue against that, however, coming off of the previous remake, which was superb, with the same people, passion, and adding as much as they can reasonably fit, there's enough reason for that to be an educated guess, again though, it's not out, so we'll see
"Gtfoh"
No U
This is so amazing! Never did I think they go into this much detail with the world map and what you can do.
happy birthday max, seeing your genuine reactions and passion for ff7 is so endearing
I love it when Max said "Let's go!" and let's go'ed all over the place.
Without context. That sounded like he ejaculated without any warning.
Okay 10 year old
But... but he didn't go anywhere... /s
33:28 remember when Max said the director was a big Horizon fan? This is totally Aloy skulking through tall grass to override a Charger and i love it
34:26 Max and chat know
So during the Chadley mission battle against the purple elephants, Barret wasn't part of the party, but was shooting at the creature from the far perimeter. I didn't see any damage numbers, but saw the rounds coming in. 45:55
Yup that's right!!
This is easily my most anticipated game of all time, and I thought seeing new trailers and gameplay would hold me over. But it just makes me want the game that much more….
I can’t wait 5 more months!
I’m a purist and think this is a complete cash padded joke and I refuse to support it and you shouldn’t either
@@GMOTP5738 stop it and go back to your fifa or cod, leave this game for real mans
@@gabrielripw0lf293lmao. This remake is more casual than Cod and fifa at this point.
*_7:27_*
*_I just realized, after they put the covers up side by side, that there’s a cohesion between Remake and Rebirth. I’m willing to bet the cover of the third game will be dominated by the color blue and feature Zack._*
Nah that was for Crisis Core Reunion. Since Rebirth seems to be the mediator of red, blue, and green, and we even see red growing onto the logo, I’d say the final entry would be fully red
But still from the tgs we can see its very big zone compare to ff16 field zone.
ít was 11000m
OMG, Cloud is hiding in tall grass just like Aloy. But instead of fighting machines he's catching chocobos. Freaking hilarious
Or like Link in Zelda Botw/TOtK? ;-)
@@Coldsilfur4 nah devs already said their inspiration was from Horizon and that they are huge fans of the franchise lol.
Love that he started talking about it like they were trying to hunt down the chocobo until Aerith corrected him lol
Amazing.
For me it has influences from Zelda Botw/TOTK, too.. the towers, catching Chocobo etc
@@Coldsilfur4I mean, neither game invented those tropes, we're just going with what the director has explicitly stated as his inspiration.
I'm just a simple man, I see Max upload a FF7 video and I click on it immediately.
I watched a streamer upload last night. I did not need to watch this, but it was Maxx hype. Now I just want to play ReBirth lmao
Let's gooo!!!
I'm still in stitches over Red XIII riding a chocobo... he looks so derpy🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, I think we're gonna see him dress as a sailor too.
Much respect to the translators, they had the impossible task of live translating 4 panelists talking over each other❤😭
After what I've seen with this game....I trust the devs entirely on their decisions, including Vincent/Cid.
While Vincent and Cid not being playable is a bummer, they still be present on the story and / or the battles.
I appreciate the translators. Translation is so difficult even when it's not live. Thank you Max for reacting to this
This is already my all time favorite game. The wait is so worth it.
"The world will be saved, but will you?" This is actually a quote from in Rebirth. It's being asked by Cloud to Aerith
Piano mini game put a huge smile on my face
I didn't know I needed to play FF soundtrack on an in-game piano until I saw it. Everything LOOKS SO AMAZING!
The Goat s back with a 75 minute video. Happy Birthday Max 🥳🥳🥳
The piano shit, and the fact you can find sheet music as collectibles out in the world, is the part that finally broke me and brought a tear to my eye. What the fuck, man? How is this game real?
I'm convinced the only things Max loves more than FF7 are his wife and child.
That guy with the buster sword is a comedian?... I guess a LOT of things were lost in translation so. 🤣
Not sure if I like the new menu... I actually like the one in Remake with those high-res pictures of the characters.
Agreed. But it might not be so bad once I get my hands on it.
Not a big fan of that wall to be honest :D
Nevertheless I am super excited about the game!
They Add card game like FF8-9, Friendships Points like Star Ocean 2, Hunts like FF 12, MMORPG quests... and who knows what more.
Hype.
Damn, I can’t wait to play FFVII: Rebirth
if rebirth plays out abitl ike in the original, we still visit cid and get the "water-aircraft" and since vincent was optional originally, i think it makes sense to get him on part 3, but cid i assume you get him in part 2 even if they havent shown him yet (Red 13 they havent shown in the remake much either, so....
if part 2 may end on the forgotten capital then part 2 will ardy be a huge game by itself
[and cd 1 is actually not small in compare)
Seeing Red XIII ride a chocobo has given me IMMENSE joy. Bless that dog and his chicken
So we have Junon Kalm the Gold Saucer Costa Del Sol in an open world ? all the vehicules ? IS THAT FREAKIN REAL LIFE ?
I don't think people realise yet but it can be the best RPG since YEARS that is coming that's all we ever dreamed, they did it
Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, and Rocket Town. Maybe more too.
Just want to add it’s usually good practice to translate from a foreign language to your native language. I do translation in my day to day and seeing this guy translate for 4 people simultaneously talking into a foreign language near seamlessly is making my brain explode.
This is making me emotional..it's amazing how far we have come.
I cried when I saw Kalm… it was just. Breathtaking
Seeing red xiii ride a chocobo made me much more happy 😂
Just here to say, thanks Max for keeping the first thumb print on the info that I find for the ff7 universe and elsewhere.💪🏻
If you noticed, the second rebirth key art depicts Tifa and Aerith beside Sephiroth instead of Cloud and Zack.
So many saying that the map is not huge as they expected... Well, I personally prefer a smaller map but FILLED with entertaing events/combat/collectibles AND mini games. And we're gonna have it all in one package! Hell Square...

I have no idea what’s going on with this story but I
Like seeing max happy about shit he loves. Need to watch his ff7 play through
You should play it for yourself dude
You should give it a try!
Also, I know there's a Japanese clip/translation of max freakout reactions bringing Japanese ff7 fans all kinds of joy somewhere. 😂
