Phil Steiner at Moonshine Lunch Store in Illinois, 01/18/22 describing how he racks up the miles, motorcycle OEM replacements, and Dunlap tire longevity.
Hi Brad, yeah, he told me it's guzzling about a quart of Amsoil every 1,000 miles, so not sure how far it will go, but you guys are selling him the 2022 6 speed, delivered around Thanksgiving, so we may never know how far the 2015 will go....
One might think so, but I believe Honda wants Goldwing owners to believe that after 150,000-200,000 miles that their Wing is worn out , and hopefully go buy a new one. The Goldwings' reliability is a hindrance to selling new ones. Not one member of the former GWRRA chapters in St. Louis have bought the 2018 or newer bike.

January 20th, 2023 ..Phil Steiner rode his 2015 Wing from Lakeland to Lima, Oh to pick up his 2023 Wing, and is riding it back to Lakeland. The 2015 is now parked at 767,154 miles. We may never know how many more miles it would have gone. I offered to buy it, he wants to keep it.

Yes riding motorcycles is real fun. i'm 70 years old and ride a 2016 Goldwing. i believe one reason riding a motorcycle is fun is because its like flying a airplane. You have to use both hands and feet to operate a motorcycle like a aircraft. Its just good wind therapy. May you have many more miles of fun and enjoyment. i enjoyed looking at your mainteance sheet. Wow! that is amazing and I thought I was doing well with 400 000 + miles on my BMW R100GS PD. Needless to say, Phil Steiner and his Goldwing are inspirational. Please pass on my congratulations and wish him many more miles happy riding. Best wishes from the UK.
@@kentonkloos3490 it’s a 1993 model. I bought it in 95 with 14500 miles on it. I don’t have a car, I do have two other bikes a 74 Trident and a 91 DR350, but the BMW is my primary transportation. The engine is still on it’s original crankshaft, but I have overhauled the cylinder heads a couple of times and replaced the timing chain a couple of times. I have had the gearbox apart to replace bearings on three occasions and I also replaced the helical gears on one of those occasions. I replaced the final drive (bevel box) bearings for the first time last September. Over the years I have carried out a number of modifications and upgrades: including twin plugging the cylinder heads, fitted a high output 400W alternator, a rebuildable drive shaft, six piston brake caliper and cast iron disc, a Nippon Denso starter motor, upgraded suspension. I converted the ignition system to contact breaker operation. This is because I like to travel to remote places; Siberia, Asia, Africa and it is easier to carry spare points and condenser than an electronic ignition module and Hall effect trigger. In my experience BMW electronic ignition components are not reliable enough, whereas the old points set-up is bullet proof. I have suffered occasional problems on the road but the bike has always got me home. In 52 years of riding most every day this has been the bike I have liked best. But then I’ve not owned a Goldwing yet……..
I ride a child's tricycle. Most recently, I got the itch and jumped on my bike and traveled from West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Maine to Cape Wrangell on Attu Island - Alaska. I know, three wheelers suck...but I just love the feel of the ride, the wind blowing in your face and such. The Rockies just about killed me. Happy riding.
I'm 71 years old and ride a GL1800. I can't stay in the saddle long enough to log 600 miles in one day because my body aches too much! It's mostly my neck and between my shoulders.
Sure thing. I met up w Phil on 8/15/22 at Moonshine Lunch store, and he was trying to find a 2022 Wing 6 speed, unsuccessfully. I told him that we all want to see him push the 2015 until it drops. He was at 728,200 that day..
I just got off the phone w Phil, he just ordered a blue 2022 6 speed Wing, arriving late August. His 2015 is at 730,000. So our hopes of him hitting a million are dashed to pieces...

@@kentonkloos3490 Alright!! Hey i appreciate ya keeping us in touch and please send Mr. Phil our best regards. Maybe you can interview him again before he passes? Like whats his secret how he got a million miles on his bike?
Just wanted to let you and others know that today, Phils Wing is 8 years old now ( 12/17/22 ) and the odometer at 757,301. Yearly average of 94,662. 81 year-old.. truly a unicorn. Last week , he met a 90 yr old man riding a 2018 Wing trike, so he feels he should be able to match him for longevity.
This is Kenton who does his vids. He's a maniac! Rides 274 miles a day average for 5 consecutive years to hit 500,000 in 5 years. He loves to ride, and has the time and money to do it. Currently has 121,000 on his 2023 Wing .
I agree, but that's what the Owners' Manual recommends. And it does not recommend synthetic oil. I followed that advice from Honda with my 2002 Wing, using mostly Valvoline conventional motorcycle oil every 8,000, and my #5 cylinder had low compression, and started fouling the plug at a mere 359,000 miles...
For a start, he doesn't flog his bike and also he does regular maintenance. I sometimes do wish I can have the same mileage on my 'Wing. I can get 400km for a full tank on a good ride but if I'm riding on mountains, fighting with the winds and having to stop at every red light, I get around 320kms on a full tank.
