    Great review. I’m an old guy wanting to extend my riding years, and was intrigued by the DCT and light weight. I’ve been looking at these for a couple months. Test rode one 3 days ago, and bought it! Really a fun bike to ride.

      Careful doing that though, motorcycles aren’t for constant leisure. You’ll need to do more maintenance the more miles you rack, which happens quick. You may wanna have a car on the side

    You don't have to switch to manual mode to shift manual with the flippers.
    Use the flippers when you think you need them. The computer will take over after a few seconds so your ride is more relaxed.
    When you like more fun : go to Sport mode and use the flippers before a corner, to shift one down ;)

    Great Review! Back one the ‘70s I had two good friends that had the 750-4 Automatic. They both loved them. One was an average Joe Rider and the other was a long time Honda mechanic and rode raced his (sponsored by Honda of course) in 24 he races winning 95% of his races for Honda. Personally I didn’t care much for the Autumatics as I feel it takes a great deal of the FUN out of Riding. But that’s just my opinion. Please keep up the Good Work and Cheers from Salem, Ohio.

    Really enjoyed this content. I am seriously considering the purchase of this bike. The dct transmission certainly appeals to me as i am getting gear change weary in my later years. The only concern I have is the riding position looks a bit cramped as I would use the bike for touring but hopefully I could sort that out with a higher seat.

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  Рік тому

      That was really our only beef with the bike. The handlebars need more of a pullback, and the foot controls are kind of tall. Great ground clearance and lean angle, but it’s supposed to be a tourer, so it really needs a more relaxed rider triangle.

    I have a Honda CTX700 with DCT. Shifting is fun but not shifting is truly living the good life 😊 I want to upgrade to a Rebel 1100 for more power and cruise control. A taller seat and some pullback bars should take care of that odd rider triangle.

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  Рік тому +1

      We wish they’d lower the foot controls for this “touring” model as well as mount more pullback bars, which would make it even better to tour.

    Many dealers won't let you test ride...anyway here in Indiana. (indianapolis) Going to look at a couple here saturday, couple hours south of here. Sux this place will not let me test drive, however. Personally, I would buy one that is bare and do aftermarket fairing, side hard bags (ones that can be easily/quickly detached and taken say, into a hotel) middle storage with built in back rest. This would be the ultimate for a long haul, for me and my girl. I'm 58 and getting the fever....again.

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  11 місяців тому +2

      We agree, it’s stupid that dealerships won’t allow a test ride before buying. You can’t get a feel for a motorcycle by merely straddling it on a showroom floor.
      We very much dislike the standard hard bags that come with this model, but the batwing faring is pretty good, and that DCT transmission is superb. Get you a base model one, set it up and kit it out to your liking, then you and your girl go see America on it!

      @@roaddirttv I’ll be driving one somewhere before I would buy. Just looking I recon. Someone online will see this or another forum (adv rider) and be close. Thx for the review on this. What I do not want is my wrist hurting as I get older harder to ride more than 10 miles on my bicycle. Really would like neutral pressure on my wrists and forearms if possible. Probably a handle bar exchange on rebel would fix any issues.

    Firstly, there is no perfect bike,and I've never owned/ridden a cruiser/bagger before, but this has grabbed my attention.
    I always price up all the parts i want to fit to a bike before I'd consider purchasing one. This is pretty cheap to sort out, de-cat A/T downpipes, slip on end(£30 here), forward controls, with the rear brake on the LH bar(you can get a matching, Nissin,master cylinder for a clutch) , a rack, and a custom underseat tank, that's one serious touring machine! I'd maybe fit slightly longer shocks over time,sits a tad low....oh,a round taillight, just for my OCD, aftermarket one for a Yamaha Bolt/XSR700, because everything on the bike is round, apart from that...like an after thought?
    Have been in 30+ States, but never down in the corner,beautiful...now that Sleepy has relaxed entry to the USA,we Purebloods can once again come visit? Look forward to visiting you all,once again!

    I have a '15 Honda CTX700 DCT. It's my go to bike if I'm heading into the nearest small city..... with its 7 bazillion traffic lights. Its only got about 50HP so not exactly exciting, but the K1600 isn't designed for stop n go traffic. Since the wife and I are looking at trailering on road trips (she bought a Ryker), I'm considering selling my bikes and getting one of these. DCT plus some power. Instead of "touring", we'll get an Air BnB or dry camp in the trailer.... and just day trip with the motorcycles.

    Seat is too low, bars too forward, footpegs too high and central, all of which would change with a real suspension, seat, bar, and forward pegs. So how much for all of that? Honda has the right idea with this bike. I like the fairing and hard bags. It's light, low, fast, and gets good economy on the highway if you don't turn it up. What more could one want? Fix its weaknesses and you got a bike.
