I have the dct version but i agree, gas tank is too small. Somehow rebel 500 felt like it had more range. But the bike does do everything else really good
I own a 2017 Victory Octane, the angary step brother to the Indian Scout. Love everything about the performance of these bikes. Love the looks and sound with exhaust upgrade as well.
As a scout bobber owner I love it. Good review, and my only gripes about the bike would be it having better suspension and brakes; I could care less about all the other crap they put on bikes.
I got really lucky with my Rebel 1100 because that thing sells before it even gets to the island. The Scout is sexy and it is the bike that I wanted. But looking at the specs and seeing all the reviews I’m happy with my Rebel. It’s not a looker but I’ve put lane splitters on, front fairing, and headlight cowl to pimp it out a bit. I transferred from sport bikes to cruisers so it was awkward at first. Even so it’s pretty fun on the twisties. It’s a lifer…I’m keeping this bike till I or it dies. My only complaints is the seat and the amount of bounce the headlight has at night. Wish the tank had a better capacity but other than that…she’s amazing!
I'd go for the Scout Bobber but here in Germany the Rebel 1100 is similar to the Dollar price while the Scout Bobber starts at around 16k Euros... So yeah, we have to pay a hefty premium on Indians here. It's really sad because they are the best looking bikes out there imo.
Im in America, even for around the same price, I am leaning towards the 1100, just because of the technology. The Indian hands down looks better though.
I bought the Scout Bobber in 2021 and I love it. Living in the US mid-west this bike is perfect for daily riding or for longer weekend trips out-of-town.
I spent a bit of time comparing them myself 14 months ago and was two days away from putting money on the Honda. There is just too much that the scout doesn't have (traction control, cruise control and rider modes) that makes a huge difference. Like you I really loved the look of the Scout though and was tempted regardless. Turns out HD announced the Sportster S on the Wednesday and I was at the Harley dealership two days later instead. No regrets at all. Having said that, I would love to see the Sportster S compared to the Indian FTR-S or the Indian Chief. I think for any of those bikes, they are so even that it comes down to styling and ergonomics.
2022 manual rebel owner here. i'm 6'0" and 270 lb and 60 yrs old. originally the rider triangle was tight, but new seat and forward controls fixed that. my biggest complaint is the small fuel tank. years ago, i had a suzuki 550e with a bigger capacity. biggest plus is the cruise control. i can relax my grip on the throttle and that really help due to arthritis in the right thumb. it is a very sporty ride.
Thanks for a great vid (and, YES, I'm a subscriber!). I'd buy a Honda Rebel 1100 in a heartbeat, but ONLY IF it had a 5+ US gallon fuel tank. This could be the perfect solo light touring machine for smaller people. So close, yet so far! (Maybe someone will make an aftermarket tank?) Additionally, if I had money to burn, I'd also get the Scout. It is truly a gorgeous machine.
works ok for me for long miles. I don't like riding more than 100ish miles before taking a break anyways. Depending on the conditions, how loaded down I am, and how fast I am going, I can get around 120-150 miles from full to empty with the 3.3 gallons. The gas isn't what is annoying, its the chain... I love almost everything about this bike except the chain, its way too much work for doing long miles.
I reserved a Rebel 1100 they told me it would be black. But when it came in it was maroon. They told me to take it or leave it I ride a 2019 Indian Scout Bobber now
I'm a cruiser rider and I really don't like the look of either of them. The Indian Chief bikes are good looking, but the Scouts are another story. Still better than the current generation Rebel which look like a cruiser and a naked sport bike had a baby and mom was taking thalidomide.
i tried em both and yes the honda has more options and was more agile but i couldnt help but notice that everything on the honda kinda felt cheap to me. The Indian def is more simple and robust/brute so i kinda was convinced by that + its looks Now i have the bobber for 1 year, its a sick bike everywhere i go ppl take pictures, aks me about it etc...the biggest flaws are its suspension and stock seat, now indian has some diff options for it. Some complain about it having no fuel-gauge but im used to having none, in a way the simplicity and lack of some options binds you more with the bike
What about the sitting position? From what i read most replace the bars with miniapes for better comfort Seat and miniapes would add another $1000 , plus possibly LED headlight so it's like $1300 additional spend I think Honda has that sorted Oh and definitely V&H exhaust for indian :D
@@flesz_ well you can get the bobber twenty those have mini-apes stock but im a bigger guy and i have no problems with the regular bars, well im normal height but bulky xD very tall people often need forward controls on the scout, thats a thing that isnt stock but nice that its easily done i got my led headlight from amazon for like 50$, so id say the aftermarket isnt as big as Harley but i guess bigger than the rebel's. Led was a must since i often ride at night and stock halogen isnt worth a thing at night and i dont have nightvision issues xd in an old car i would forget them even xD
@@flesz_ if you're worried about sitting position the Scout Rogue is great. It pushes your butt a bit more forward, has a "mid-forward" control on the pegs and it comes with mini apes. It's like a mix between a 3/4 and upright sitting position. I'm 5'11" with a short torso, longer legs if that helps at all.
I road a Scout... I bought a Rebel 1100. Overall for just about everything the Rebel wins for me. It rides so much better in every way... I am hoping they do a major overhaul to the Scout sometime soon. The only reason I want to get rid of my Rebel for something else, is I want something better for touring... so a little bigger and no stupid chain to keep the maintenance on. I think its so stupid they used a chain.
Another factor that should be considered is chain vs belt final drive. While belts aren't as efficient in transferring power from engine to tire, they don't require as much maintenance. It's the big reason why both the Scout and the Harley Nightster feel tempting compared to the Rebel. The Scout, at this point, is the oldest design, so it has fewer features, but it's also by far the best looking (and using the Bobber for your comparison is really unfair here, as that seat and shocks are the worst of the lot for Indian, so the Rogue might have been a better choice to compare). The Nightster is probably the best all-round bike, with the performance and features surpassing both other bikes, but the left side is even more unkempt and hideous as the ugliest parts of the Rebel, and the price is obscene. To be clear: I love all three, I want all three, and I can't justify buying any of them. Any one of them is going to be amazing. Just know what you're getting into.
Got the bobber titanium..drove bouth..Honda is all about tech and lightness..Indian scout bobber is just real bike..love it upgraded the rear shocks and seats perfect and looks beautiful...
Might want to also look into the bikes lean angle too? I’ve done a bit of research on my own and while these and the Harley nightster or fatbob are great competitors also… the nightster and the rebel are marketed as more of a “sport cruiser” with better lean angles but still retaining some of the cruiser style and ergonomics. Just felt that is worth mentioning as they have slightly different target audiences. While both being a cruiser one is more agile and “playful” the other is more style and grunt….
I bought a2022 rebel dct and I love it it’s fast and has all the bell& whistles most others can’t compare too For the price. I thought about the scout but got more bang for my buck with the Honda.
It’s all subjective in my opinion. I chose the 2022 Honda Rebel CMX1100 DCT for its quality, performance, value and reliability! Also I like the design of the Rebel with that “stuffed in” engine look. It has its own identity when it comes to the looks and design. Honda thought out of the box with this one. I definitely get more bang for my buck with this bike!! Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder! 👍
I would take either one, because I go for eye appeal and to me they both have it. With the edge going to the Indian Scout. Also, the Honda Rebel looks like a cheaper made bike. But for some reason, I'd rather be seen on an Indian or a HD..... than anything else. And I prefer a belt to a chain
I have to admit the scout is definitely better looking but after riding my wife's ctx700n dct. The rebel 1100 dct will be next bike! I absolutely love not having to shift but still have the push button option to shift and go through actual gears. That along with nearly double the power of the ctx and all the other benefits. It's a no brainer for me.
Had a rebel 110 DCT - BEWARE I owned a rebel 1100 DCT for a couple of months and had a major, major problem. I had my bike service at 450 miles. On my ride home I noticed that the bike DCT transmission was engaging while I was stopped. I ignored the issue hoping that it was an one off. After riding the bike for ~200 miles the DCT transmission engaged again while I was stopped and the bike transmission/power over rode the braking system (Front and Back brakes) and took off. I tried with all of my energy to stop the bike but it wouldn't hold. I ended up crashing into a wall, broke a couple of ribs and my collar bone. I do not know if this has happened to anyone else? There is no clutch to override so BEWARE and practice hitting the kill switch!
In the UK getting an Indian is pretty difficult. But even for a sports bike guy, the Indian smashes it on looks and attention to detail and design. However, the dct Honda is super cheap to buy.... The Indian Scout is far more expensive in the UK. For me the DCT model is a clear winner.
So what makes for good brakes? I believe two discs are better than one, but it adds weight and clutter. How about a large diameter disc with 6 pistons? I like to hear my tire when I brake hard. On the dry pavement especially, I listen to the front tire tell me where my braking is. It warns me long before any trouble. I let it speak to me. I attribute that to the fact that I have two discs up front. I figure they average things out. 3 or 4 would be better, I assume, but that would be much clutter, weight, and also a bit weird.
Idk, I think you're way off on the MPG for the Rebel. Life of Burch did a video on MPG with the 1100 and got 55mpg (4.27l/100km), Bennetts did a review and got about the same, Fuelly shows people reporting about 47mpg (5l/100km), and I see the forums reporting around that 46-47mpg mark in the forums. Looking at Fuelly, people are reporting about the same mpg for the scout, meaning it should be lower distance.
Owned a Honda CBR954RR for 20 yrs now......at the age of 50, i'm gonna slow down and buy a Rebel 1100 for the longer, lazy rides. You just can't beat the reliability of a Honda.
@@davdankvinci345 Hardly, and to add to that, the psychotic left will likely declare the name 'Indian' as offensive or Racist and require the company to change it's name to "Native American" in the future...lmao.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do like Rebel looks more. So for me it was no brainer which to choose. (out of the Scout lineup I did even like Scout Rogue more than Bobber, but still Rebel won). Also did you yourself try them both out? It kind of sounded like you compared the paper specs, hearsay from forums and just your own eyes to look at them, but no real rider experience. Could have compared the fuel economy also yourself while at that -- hearsay isn't really good for that.
Scout bobber's style is super cool. However, there are almost no dealers in Japan. Also, the price (tax included) is 1.1 million yen for Rebel and 2 million yen for Scout. It's not worth talking about. Rebel is effectively the only option. I want the Scouts to work harder.
Service! I can get a Honda repaired in just about any city in the U.S. My nearest Indian dealer is 3 hours away and I'm guessing long term maintenance on the Indian is bound to be more involved.
If the scout had the same features as the rebel and a dct option hands down would of been one of the best bikes out. But if i could ill go with scout first then buy a rebel for the dct because of health complications.
Bigger platform? The Rebel 1100 is a very cramped bike and suited to people of smaller sizeand or younger athletic folks, whereas the Indian Scout is a much more relaxed riding style. I wish Honda would use the 1100 motor in an updated version to their CTX700 series from 2014 to 2018, which was a much more comfortable bike to ride for a lot of us. However I am sold on the DCT transmissions, and the Honda CTX 700 dct I have is a nice change of pace from my Victory Cross Country.
yeah, i am confused. i ride a Rebel 500(2019)now, i like the style of the Indian. i sat on one during bike week in Daytona, it was really, really nice. i like the look of the Rebel 1100, just like my Rebel, but more power. i like the weight of the Rebel, water cooled, compared to oil? oh well, when i get ready to get a new bike i'll give them both a better look. oh yeah, price difference, not a lot, but with my finances, Honda wins.
I pwn a rebel 500 and just bought the 2024 scout rogue. I know the rebel 500 is not the same league power wise, but its still the same frame and overall feeling (vs the 1100) About everything in the video is true. I prefer the handling of the rebel, but the scout is way better looking. Less leaning angle on the scout which is really annoying. The scout sucks when it comes to instruments: no gas meter, only a stupid gas light, no actual gauge. Rear suspension travel is baaad on the scout, and already kuch better on the rebel (even if its bad compared to so many other bikes. Ther are cruisers tho)
If I were in the market for either of these it would absolutely be the Honda. The Polaris just looks cobbled together and after riding it I was really unimpressed with the suspension and rider triangle.
In what world does the Scout look "cobbled together" compared to the Honda!?! The Scout is the most well-sculpted design of any bike out there, while the Rebel (as much as I like it) is literally a "parts bike"! I can't argue on the awful suspension and awkward rider triangle. Those are definite strikes against the Scout. But in NO way is the Scout the one that looks thrown together!
I have a 2022 Scout Bobber ABS, Black Smoke, and love it. Power and torque are awesome, fuel economy sucks (I'm to blame because of the first part of this sentence), handling is good and fairly nimble (I just lift the inside foot off the peg and let the sparks fly), and the styling is beautiful. The stock seat sucks and only survived the ride home from the dealership. I replaced it with an Indian accessory Syndicate Seat that night and love it. The Honda styling is a huge turnoff, I don't get it. To each their own.
The conclusion is a bit strange. Better on paper Rebel or more beautiful Scout. Rebel is objectively better tham Scout in more than 50% of cases, so it isn't only on paper. Anyways, it's a personal taste and it's the best if they are tried before deciding. 👍
That scout is sexy though. It's really low. I really love the look. I was also looking at a Triumph Rocket R3... its almost double the price...but thats sexy to me also... the price is a factor here. If the money wasn't a thing, as beautiful as the scout look I would go after the Rocket
Nope the India Chief Darkhorse is the winner, i own a Rebell1100, but is becaus of price. I rode the sxout and it was ok, bu the indian Dark horse is just a work of art. Now i teated the Rebell and it gave me way more relax points and it was way cheaper.
I was actually facing this decision at the beginning of 2022, and I came to the same conclusions you did. I'm a bigger (read fatter) rider, so that influenced my choice quite a bit. The Scout had looks going for it. Oh, man, I never thought looks were important to me, but I *felt* like I looked like a badass on the Scout. The Rebel is not bad looking at all, but the Scout just... mmmmm. That's pretty much the only advantage the Scout has going for it, though. The Rebel DCT was under USD $12K out the door (taxes and everything), whereas the Scout was closer to USD $18K. You break down "features" as an advantage of the Rebel, but that's really understating it. The Rebel has Cruise Control standard and the Scout doesn't even have a fuel gauge!!! What sealed it was performance, however. The Rebel's suspension and lean angle are... actually quite decent, though set waaaaay too soft to start with (for my fat ass). The Scout's lean angle is crap, the Bobber's even worse, and the stock suspension is straight up ass. I was bottoming out over small bumps constantly, and it literally hurt. If you are thinking of buying the Scout, factor in at least another USD $800 for a suspension upgrade. Neither of these is really a touring bike. They're naked muscle cruisers. However, I think the Rebel can be made into a decent tourer with upgrades. The stock seat is not comfortable for long rides and you'll need wind protection. The OEM soft saddlebags are surprisingly affordable and good. If I could own multiple bikes and the price was not a problem, I would own a Scout. Feeling like a badass while riding it, illusion or not, is just great. It really nails that. If I had another bike for corner carving, commuting, touring, etc., then the Scout would be a great addition to the garage. Scout + KLR 650 Adventure, maybe? However, as I only have room in my life and budget for a single bike at the moment, I ended up with the Rebel 1100 DCT.
So I rode for years I haven't been on a bike in a little while. Raising kids and a little illness. I've been looking at a bunch of bikes I saw a r18 BMW that was gorgeous it was black. Indian is a nice bike, they have a lot of options that is cool but I can tell you this they are pricey and they remind me of victory. Now how long they'll be around his question and the Honda is tried and true they work like mules.
to me... even tho I love the new tech on bikes.... its an easy decision.. The indian wins hands down on the cool/look department.. I will take a pretty hot girl any time over the ugly one..
It's funny how he keeps saying the Indian is more powerful. Forget the weight difference. If you put both of these bikes on the dyno the wheel horsepower will be identical, because chain drive loses way less power than a belt drive system. Then on top of that you calculate in the power to weight ratio The Honda is way ahead in both horsepower and torque. If you had this Honda rebel up against that Indian at a stoplight or even cruising at 30 mph rolling star The rebel will win every single time on the initial acceleration. Maybe the Indian will catch up after 100 mph but that doesn't matter because you don't buy a cruiser to do over 100 mph. If I wanted to go that fast I'd buy a supersport.
I just realized how superficial I am. No matter how good the Rebel is, I just can't get over how beautiful the Scout looks.
I agree 100% I spent the past year looking at the scout and couldn't find a bike I thought was better looking and it has all the power I need. I finally got the money up to order a 2023 scout rogue.

I can't get over how bland they both look, and the new Sportsters are just as dull.
If you don't walk away and have to turn around and admire your bike, you are on the wrong one. The honda looks to be built to a price.

Rebel 1100, works for me. Honda reliability!
FCR(France)
I reserved a Rebel 1100 they told me it would be black. But when it came in it was maroon. They told me to take it or leave it
I ride a 2019 Indian Scout Bobber now
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice brother .... they deserved it
Definitely and 100 % scout bobber for me!
I'm a cruiser rider and I really don't like the look of either of them. The Indian Chief bikes are good looking, but the Scouts are another story. Still better than the current generation Rebel which look like a cruiser and a naked sport bike had a baby and mom was taking thalidomide.
I love my scout! Beautiful bike!
i tried em both and yes the honda has more options and was more agile but i couldnt help but notice that everything on the honda kinda felt cheap to me.
The Indian def is more simple and robust/brute so i kinda was convinced by that + its looks
Now i have the bobber for 1 year, its a sick bike everywhere i go ppl take pictures, aks me about it etc...the biggest flaws are its suspension and stock seat, now indian has some diff options for it. Some complain about it having no fuel-gauge but im used to having none, in a way the simplicity and lack of some options binds you more with the bike
What about the sitting position?
From what i read most replace the bars with miniapes for better comfort
Seat and miniapes would add another $1000 , plus possibly LED headlight so it's like $1300 additional spend
I think Honda has that sorted
Oh and definitely V&H exhaust for indian :D
@@flesz_ well you can get the bobber twenty those have mini-apes stock but im a bigger guy and i have no problems with the regular bars, well im normal height but bulky xD
very tall people often need forward controls on the scout, thats a thing that isnt stock but nice that its easily done
i got my led headlight from amazon for like 50$, so id say the aftermarket isnt as big as Harley but i guess bigger than the rebel's.
You are right. Paper matters very little to how it looks and makes you feel.
There is a kit to make your chain into a belt on the rebel.
@@Jdmtunerlover I haven't seen any... any brand name or anything?
@Aya Wetts I saw it on a fb page on the rebel pages. I forgot the name or brand. You could ask there
Was between these 2. Now I'm between the Indian and the sportster s. Would love to see a review of that.
I have that comparison up on the channel already! Search my channel for it 👍🏻
My Heart: Indian
My Brain: Rebel
These two are so hard for me to choose from 😩💔
I bought an Indian Scout and I don't regret it at all :)
I bought a2022 rebel dct and I love it it’s fast and has all the bell& whistles most others can’t compare too
For the price. I thought about the scout but got more bang for my buck with the Honda.
I like Indian .....thump up !!!!
thumb up !!!!
best part about rebel is that it has features, is cheaper and you can still mod it to look even better
but indian looks majestic right out the factory
Honda quality and reliability can’t be beat!
DCT rules. It's much more fun of driving when you don't have to think about shifting gears. So, my heart belongs to Rebel. Greatings from Phuket!
Also cruise control is amazing. I just used it on the highway few days back and i was fucking amazed
@@gsin311 I have TMax as well and it have cruise also, so no surprise, but very comfortable)))
I had a scout put over 37000 miles on her great bike had a indian chief dark horse for a year now have a indian challenger all great bikes
Had a rebel 110 DCT - BEWARE
I owned a rebel 1100 DCT for a couple of months and had a major, major problem.
No one complained about that . Only time will say the truth about u saying the true or indian scout paid u to do that 🧐
Looks mean a lot!! Not to mention how many Indians on the road vs Honda! a great brand but Indian has th heritage thing!
Indian Scout Bobber. Here here. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
In the UK getting an Indian is pretty difficult. But even for a sports bike guy, the Indian smashes it on looks and attention to detail and design. However, the dct Honda is super cheap to buy.... The Indian Scout is far more expensive in the UK. For me the DCT model is a clear winner.
If Honda tweeks the styling of the Rebel it would be a perfect bike (for me).
Getting one of each
So what makes for good brakes?
Looking at Fuelly, people are reporting about the same mpg for the scout, meaning it should be lower distance.
gotta give the looker contest to the scout. wonder how their reliability stacks up?
I have a 21 bobber. traded in my HD 1200 for it, best thing I ever did.
I have a 2021 bobber twenty and I learned how to rife on a rebel 1100 and there is no comparison.
I would go for the Rebel. I fair for the price. My only concern would not having forward control option
Owned a Honda CBR954RR for 20 yrs now......at the age of 50, i'm gonna slow down and buy a Rebel 1100 for the longer, lazy rides. You just can't beat the reliability of a Honda.
Yes, you can. It's called an Indian, ha! 😉😅🤣
I'm actually fixing to buy a rebel but the Indian is such a beautiful bike
How much cost the new idian bobber ? Thanks 😊
I love my scout awesome bike!
Indian makes a “comfort seat” accessory. Well worth it.
rebel 1100 non-DCT was not available for the 5 months I looked. I ended up picking an indian scout and its so much more fun
What helmet is that at 12 seconds in the video?
yeah, i am confused. i ride a Rebel 500(2019)now, i like the style of the Indian. i sat on one during bike week in Daytona, it was really, really nice. i like the look of the Rebel 1100, just like my Rebel, but more power. i like the weight of the Rebel, water cooled, compared to oil? oh well, when i get ready to get a new bike i'll give them both a better look. oh yeah, price difference, not a lot, but with my finances, Honda wins.
I pwn a rebel 500 and just bought the 2024 scout rogue. I know the rebel 500 is not the same league power wise, but its still the same frame and overall feeling (vs the 1100)
About everything in the video is true.
Looks. The scout is 10/10. The rebel is 5/10. But the triumph bobber 11/10
Scout bobber.
Such a good looking bike and a decent amount faster/more powerful than the rebel.
The conclusion is a bit strange. Better on paper Rebel or more beautiful Scout. Rebel is objectively better tham Scout in more than 50% of cases, so it isn't only on paper.
Anyways, it's a personal taste and it's the best if they are tried before deciding. 👍
Rebel all the way. The rear suspension on te scout wouldnt cut it for me. Plus the Rebel is a HONDA. The Rebel exhaust is UGLY though.
I have a krazy horse scout 60 street hooligan . It's sublime .
Harley sportster s or Ducati Xdiavel are a way more sportsty ! But Indian Scout Bobber is a beautiful bike yes.
Wow ! Finally ! with dct like me just to feel like how to cruise with motorcyle wit AT not manual lol ..the honda looks like harley sportster...
That scout is sexy though.
It's really low. I really love the look.
I was also looking at a Triumph Rocket R3... its almost double the price...but thats sexy to me also... the price is a factor here.
If the money wasn't a thing, as beautiful as the scout look I would go after the Rocket
Scout bobber 60 cause it's cheaper than both. I saved almost 400 on yearly insurance too
Nope the India Chief Darkhorse is the winner, i own a Rebell1100, but is becaus of price. I rode the sxout and it was ok, bu the indian Dark horse is just a work of art. Now i teated the Rebell and it gave me way more relax points and it was way cheaper.
I like them both. However, in UK Indian cost few grand more than honda
There is one area where you all fall down - running cost including servicing???
indian scout bobber OR Chief bobber?
currently in my country rebel 1100 literally cost half the price of indian scout... pricing is insane
Indian ..... ✌️
Most beautiful one, probably there r some Harleys which come close.
Scout Bobber all day long. Do you want to ride a cool bike with character and pedigree,......or just another ricer?
The ISB shits all over the rebel in every category except for maybe comfort lol. Anyone choosing the rebel is mega coping.
0:12 Disagree. The most classy and attractive bike you can find roaming the streets today is the Triumph Bobber.
Honda 1100 for sure!
Scout looks better. Rebel looks cooler. Rebel would have been my choice.
The Indian engine... yeah, once you see the C3PO faces on the cylinder heads you can't unsee them.
