I’m a serious addict and alcoholic who somehow escaped serious damage only to be diagnosed with a painful, degenerative autoimmune disorder in my early 30s. Most meds I take are incredibly hepatotoxic so I ironically still worry about my liver and if I had still been drinking, would’ve likely destroyed it by now. I thank god every day for the strength I had to quit and to now deal with this new chronic illness, never stop fighting no matter what your diagnosis is!

My son passed passed in May. He was an alcoholic at 28. He had been living with a girlfriend and a heavy drinker. My son had potty problems like you mentioned. The doctors put a port in his neck for kidney dialysis. The port incision would not clot. He went to the bathroom with a nurses help but the nurse did not come to assist him when he was done. He bled so much and his blood pressure dropped significantly. He went into ICU again and never came out. Never came home. Evan. Forever 28

I am eternally grateful for your channel! My beloved aunt passed from nonalcoholic fatty liver. They didn't find it until it was at cirrhosis. She never drank and never smoked, but loved her coffee, stressful jobs, and sugary snacks. My body type and bad habits have been similar. I had never even heard of NAFLD until 2018. Mind. Blown. I guess it doesn't really matter what type of alcohol you drink because it's all toxic to our bodies. You don't even have to drink much alcohol, or any alcohol at all to end up with liver disease or pancreatitis! I hope your friend is able to turn his life around and regain his health! I am doing well today LD thank you !! In 2013 I was told I had a fatty liver and did nothing to save myself. I went right home and a day later picked up where I had always turned weather bad news or good the bottle I believed was my life saver . Taking care of the liver and yourself is vital . Liver failure is living hell . So ya all these things LD says believe it's real life ❤️💯🙏

Thank you LD for your honesty in sharing this. I also used to think if my annual physical liver enzymes were normal that means I'm good! After acknowledging to my doctor I have AUD and we discussed my labs at my physical appt, she told me that once your liver enzymes are elevated- it means your liver is shot... it's not a warning sign. I did not know this. You are proving this. I appreciate your honesty and candor LD.

Hey JD. First time commenter, put have been watching your videos for a long time. I wanted to piggyback upon a few things that you have mentioned consistently in your videos. For example, checking your eyes daily for yellowing as a key indicator of liver problems. For myself, the best way to determine where you're at is through regular blood work testing. Your numbers do not lie and can help people stop lying to themselves that they are just fine because their eyes are white ish. When the doctor took a look at my numbers for the first time, he came in the room and first question was how much do you drink each day? Not, do you drink? Then he asked how often, and for how long? Point being, that the eyes, stool, and belly pains, and etcetera, are not "pre-problematic". Like you say, and the doctors have told me, those things are indicative of severe problems that already exist! In fact by the time some people see these signs, it's too late. The roses could be cirrhotic already! I was a long long long time liquor drinker. It wasn't until some blood work was done in my late 50s (but I started this in my twenties), that I woke up and became surprisingly alarmed. I have no idea why I was surprised, but it got me to asking the doctor is it too late? Many tests, MRI's, gastro, endoscopy, colonoscopy, both GI's, CAT scans, and more that they determined that my liver is damaged, enlarged, and has "some" early Fibrosis. He told me I had a chance only if I completely stopped drinking now!! He also told me it was imperative to make several other lifestyle changes relating to the diet, exercise, and the like. Vitamin levels were also depleted, so mega supplements were needed. I still take many of these vitamin supplements to this day. Like all alcoholics, I had the underlying feeling that anything that was wrong with me was most likely, 99%, due to my drinking. Plus, I had no symptoms until I had about with gastritis which prompted many different blood tests. I was coughing up portions of my stomach lining and spitting it out I told the doctors that I had thought it was just snot or mucus from my sinuses running into my stomach. He said that was funny, but in your case the mucus is from your stomach lining, that is the protective consistency of the lining. It's not "nasal snot".
So thank you again JD for addressing that many times in many videos. Also on top of your "staying busy" suggestions, you are spot on! Tell your viewers they will not believe how many things they can accomplish in one day without drinking. It's simply amazing. For years and years I have avoided driving to anything! Was afraid of picking up a DUI at 9:30 in the morning for example. Or showing up to work with alcohol on my breath. Would avoid the doctors and any other professional appointments for that same reason. My productivity is probably $5,000 % higher than it was while drinking. I've been told that I am a better husband, and a better grandfather now as well. Also, extended family members that never wanted to be around me, I now have a relationship with, and a good one. They now tell me it was all because of the drinking. That's when I was telling myself that they were just difficult judgmental family members. So tell your viewers that productivity and relationships are a huge bonus of sobriety. Not to mention for younger people, productivity equals more dollars made, and a better life for your family! I've been sober for a couple of years now, but I still listen to you and watch your videos from way before you had got on the waiting list and jumping through all of those hoops. They keep me grounded and remind me that I was not the only one that did those exact things that you went through. I hope you're subscriber list grows and grows and more people take a hard look in the mirror, and I don't mean the whites of their eyes! LOL. If you made it this far jd, thanks for reading.
Gage Hunter.....P.S... it's not funny really, but it is to me when I hear people say that they only drink beer. I never touched liquor. Beer is mostly water. Liquor drinkers are the ones that get liver problems. That's hilarious to me because it's AlCOHOL that causes A.F.L.D no matter what flavor it is or pretty can or bottle that it comes in! Stick with it JD you're doing a fantastic job young man! Keep spreading the word

Also in red wine and darker spirits there are more byproducts (congeners) that are actually doing more harm. You do good work LD. Sometimes I find it hard to listen because you hit so close to home.
