This was their first Top 40 hit in the US, in 1974. A year later, "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out, and the rest is history. I recommend "You're My Best Friend" for your next one. For your next Meat Loaf song, I recommend "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)".
Yes, they should absolutely react to *You’re My Best Friend* ! - written by the incredible bassist John Deacon while he was teaching himself to play an electric piano, about his new bride Veronica (with whom he still shares his life - 47 years of marriage!)

I literally pulled my car over to listen when this came on the radio. I had never heard anything like this before. The vocals and the guitar tone blew me away! I was 18 when this came out.

Nearly 50 years, repeat, 50 years old now!! I seem to remember Queen had had a minor hit with Seven Seas of Rhye, but this one put them in the big time.

He was unique and gifted musician and I was very much heartbroken when we learned he had AIDS and then when he passed away so soon after. I think it hit so close to home for me because I was hospice worker caring for AIDS patients for much of the 1980s. When I was 13 1974 this was a big hit and nobody was ready yet for the Diamond Freddie and Queen , I remember being mesmerized by his voice and looks. What a beautiful man. Pity he cut his hair 🙂
One of the most beautiful and amazing performances by Queen is “White Queen” live at Hammersmith Odeon. Features a long section with Freddie on Piano and Brian playing his guitar. Written by Brian May about a girl he was attracted to in school but never took the opportunity to approach her. It’s a remarkable piece of music. Video here: ua-cam.com/video/f8usNj4x9NA/v-deo.html
YES! I think it's one of my favorite Queen songs. Hard to pick just one but I do find myself playing White Queen (especially that version) over and over. With Queen it's a mood thing. They pretty much have something for every mood you could possibly have.
Such a beautiful song came out of Brian....because he was too shy and had a thing for a girl in high school (Her loss!!!) He never approached her. Interesting when you find out what things or memories bring out such epic songs from a songwriter.
I was visiting a friend in Madison, Wisconsin listening to some music and he played Queen's first album. The first song was Keep Yourself Alive, and it just blew me away!
Stone Cold Crazy shows another side of the genius that is Freddie Mercury and Queen. I listened to this album, Sheer Heart Attack, on repeat when I was a teenager in the 70s, along with Queen II and A Night at the Opera.
WHITE QUEEN, live at the Hammersmith Odeon...is an early song where Freddie's voice is out of this world...the song was written by Brian May the guitarist...it's about a crush he had in college but was too shy to approach her...it's like a Shakespearean sonnet...and the instrumentation is so amazing
If you want to hear the playful side of Queen, then you couldn't do worse than to listen to/react to, 'Seaside Rendezvous', 'Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon', or, 'Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy.'
If you really want to see Freddie command a stage react to Queen's Live Aid performance. Also listen to Stone Cold Crazy. Some say it was the precursor to speed metal.
You should listen to the Queen song "Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" which is amazing to me as it is lyrically portraying the painting by English artist Richard Dadd (from the 1800s) -- It is a beautiful painting and I have a print on my wall.
I love that you two really enjoy and appreciate Freddie Mercury's theatricality and, with that in mind, I do wonder if you have managed to watch any of the recorded interviews with him; if not yet, you will be so surprised 😄 I am old enough to remember Queen from the beginning in the 70's, and I have never forgotten the first time I heard him speak at length; how totally different he was to how I was expecting in his speech and mannerisms.... 😊
They have so many good songs, it’ll take you years to get through all of them. Here are a bunch in chronological order: Keep Yourself Alive, Doing All Right, Seven Seas of Rhye, March of the Black Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, You’re My Best Friend, The Prophet’s Song, Love of My Life, Somebody to Love, Tie Your Mother Down, Play the Game, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Hammer to Fall, Who Wants to Live Forever, I Want It All, These Are the Days of Our Lives (Freddie’s last video), The Show Must Go On
@@paulmargett9360 Not according to Wiki. They’re both on the Innuendo album with These are the Days … released a month earlier than Show Must Go On. Of course, Wiki could be wrong.
So glad you've got back to the greatest group ever to have existed ( in my opinion) For more classic Queen try "We are the Champions" "We Will Rock You" "Somebody to Love" "Show must go On" or Freddie's duet with Montserrat Caballe "Barcelona". Please show some respect to the other members of the group. Brian May on lead guitar, John Deacon on Bass and Roger Taylor on drums. All four members wrote hits for the band. Much love from England 🏴
I'm so glad you guys did a Queen song from the 70's. Yes, Freddie with long hair! Have you already done the songs "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" or do you already know these from sports games?
If you really want your mind totally blown by Queen and Freddie, I recommend watching their entire Live Aid performance from 1985 (6 songs, 22 minutes). It shows why Freddie is arguably the best frontman of all time. He plays the audience like they are his instrument. I was 15 at the time, and it blew me away.
first time i heard Killer Queen was in ‘74 while at band camp…i was walking through the cafeteria, and this song came on…it LITERALLY stopped me in my tracks…that was the day i became a Queen fan…
Guys, I am a fan of Queen right from the early seventies. Arguably some of their best stuff came from their first Albums. You must try out Queen's live performances from that era - White Queen, Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Freddie is on fire.
I think you got 'glam Freddie' tonight. This is how I first was introduced to them. This song. This Freddie. His song lyrics are clever, well-written & doesn't Freddie look so fine in his fox fur jacket? Notice the fingernails on his left hand are painted in black polish. Notice the fingernails on Brian's left hand are painted in white. Lovely fellows. Thank you for your reaction.
Some more Queen you may not have done: "A Kind of Magic", "I Want it All", "Play the Game", "Hammer to Fall", "You're My Best Friend", "Need Your Loving Tonight" and "These are the Best Days of Our Lives".
My first favorite Queen song. I think I was 12 or 13 when the boy next store played this song for me, as well as others, but this stayed my favorite for years! Still one of my absolute favorites!!
you guys are non joking about Freddie being unique. I saw them live in1986 in Budapest and at the middle of the show Freddie sang a Hungarian folk-song in Hungarian of course everyone in the audience celebrated this. we were like 60thousand people in the main soccer- stadium of the country this I will never forget! BTW of course their most iconic song is the Bohemian rhapsody, but my favorite queen song is: was it all worth it
This was the very first song by Queen that I ever heard, back in the day (I know, I don't look that old😜), and it is still great. Freddy is, arguably, the greatest Rock singer of all time. And, the rest of the band are terrific as well, making up one of the greatest groups in Rock history. There is another great Rock singer, Jon Anderson, of Yes, who is also in one of the greatest bands ever, and I wish you knew him better. His voice is ethereal, almost heavenly. Yes is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which has not even inducted Blue Oyster Cult yet (which is a musical crime, by the way). Yes is Big Time, and yet you guys, whom I love, have reacted to them only once, and not even to one of their best songs, even though OOALH is a very good song. So, please, give their greatness another listen. "Roundabout" is always the best song to hear upon first listening to Yes. It is stunning.
Love this song. It was their first breakthrough hit in North America - 1974 from their third album Sheer Heart Attack - a terrific album in its own right. Check Leroy Brown to get a taste of this genius group’s versatility.
He always has the Mic stand because often times he would struggle getting the Mic loose from the stand, so unstead he began just grabbing the entire stand to avoid the trouble ! (I highly recommend the film Bohemian Rhapsody with Rami Malek playing Freddie)
One of my favorite facts is that Brian May, the lead guitarist, built the guitar he uses. He also has a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London.
"Spread Your Wings"; "Get Down, Make Love"; "Liar"; "Death on Two Legs"; "One Vision"; "39"; "Brighton Rock"; "Tie Your Mother Down"; "Ogre Battle" are just a few Queen Sons for reactions.
@@jasonszabo9203 Been a Queen fan since 1973. My favorite group. Brian May - went back to finish his PhD recently after becoming a rock star; taught others to play the guitar when at school; rescues hedgehogs. Genuinely nice man.
Not so recently- it was 2007 when his PhD was awarded - 16+ years ago looking back from 2024, but so very Impressive nonetheless! Another impressive guitar god is Jeff “Skunk” Baxter from Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers and backing for numerous other bands, who taught himself about missile defense systems, got loads of security clearances and does consulting for the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Two hugely impressive and talented guys!

Earlier than Killer Queen is KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE and LIAR (The bass solo in this is a KILLER by John!) Then there is the fantasy side of Queen....Fairy Fellers Master Stroke will blow your mind! And Ogre Battle...so much more to discover. Early QUEEN is just SUPERB!
You really must do Barcelona for a VERY different Freddie. A great favourite (and the joy of the video ) Breakthrough by Queen. I was sooooo lucky to see them at Wembley - never forgotten - Freddie truly was a 🌟 - gone too soon 😢 xx
Brian May the guitarist when he started playing guitar had no money to buy one so his Dad bought a old English fireplace and made a guitar out of it creating the most unique sound outside Eddie Van Halen. Eddie was so inspired he made his own guitar put together different guitars into one great sound. Brian May 76 played on the five finger death punch song blue on black.
PLEASE PLEASE check out “In My Defence” By Freddie Mercury - one of his solo songs. It is BEYOND amazing! I guarantee it will BLOW you guys AWAY!!! Love all of y’all’s reactions!!
beautiful song by Dave Clarke, so glad he asked Freddie to sing that also Time his voice on that is amazing but as always he owns it! makes every song feel like it's his from the heart
I recommend 'Who Wants to Live Forever', such a great song. Both Freddie and Brian sing on the album version. Amazing song which features in the Highlander film soundtrack.
Freddie Mercury may have been the most versatile singer with an incredible vocal range and control. He remains the #1 in my book of "best" singers. George Michael is a close second.
Freddie is the showman & the Superstar but make no mistake that the rest of the band are a hugely vital part of the whole Queen experience. He always knew that. They wrote the songs & created that incredible extravagant music landscape taht Freddie was allowed to parade upon like a peacock.
If you want to see more of gorgeous mid 70s long-haired Freddie, you really must check out: You Take My Breath Away - Live at Hyde Park and White Queen - Live at Hammersmith. Two stunning songs in two quite different ways, Freddie in sensual/romantic mood in the first, alone on piano, shushing a rowdy crowd at a free concert, then holding them spellbound for a few magical minutes. In the second, he puts it all out there in a song about unrequited/unnoticed love written by Brian which includes a mind blowing instrumental section, starring Freddie and Brian on duelling piano and lead guitar.
From what I understand, the microphone thing comes from and incident very early in the band. He grabbed the mic and the adjustment knob was not properly tightened, so the whole upper half come with the mic. Freddie played it cool, like it was supposed to happen and then showed us what he does with!
This song is so underrated; it's truly a masterpiece. It has everything that makes a great Queen song great. The harmonies, Brian's guitar solo/layered harmonics, and the quirky style . As for what's next, you could pick just about anything and it will be so different than what you've heard before. If you really want to go deep into what Brian is capable of as a guitarist, check out "Good Company." He plays an entire dixieland jazz band with his guitar. Truly amazing!
"Killer Queen" was the first single (released 21 Oct 1974) from Queen's 3rd studio album, "Sheer Heart Attack" (released 8 Nov 1974). "Killer Queen" reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.
their first to chart was Freddies seven seas no 10 uk earlier in 74 then Freddies KQ uk no 2 US no 12 their first singles off their first album liar and KYA didn't chart
I think the MJ comparison is pretty apt. I saw Michael during the Thriller tour in 83 as a ten you old, and he was spectacular, and also commanded the stage. I would say the thing Queen does is that they have world class instrumentalists/vocalist backing the fantastic Freddie. I have loved this song forever, and I really love that you all enjoy them so much. Great stuff.
If you two want a masterpiece on par with "Bohemian Rhapsody", in fact it preceeded it by a couple years, I suggest "March of the Black Queen/Funny How Love Is" off of their album Queen II. You have to do both together or you'll lose how it was laid out on the record.
It’s the lyrics in this song I love….. “Caviar and cigarettes, well versed in etiquette”….. or “Let them eat cake she says just like Marie Antoinette”….. SHE is described as royalty or at least she thinks of herself as royalty.
Please react to Crosby, Stills, and Nash, the song "Woodstock". It was written (and recorded) by Joni Mitchell, an it'd definitely be fun for you to compare the two versions, but CSN recorded the definitive version, no question. Massive, massive hit. And another massive hit: It'd also be cool for you to compare Jefferson Airplanes version of "Wooden Ships" with the definitive version, by CSN. It was written by David Crosby and Stephen Stills of CSN and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane. CSN couldn't credit Kantner while he was in a legal dispute with his label, but gave him full credit after that was resolved and "a whole mess of cash when the record went huge". Talk about storytelling, it's about the world after a nuclear war, which was in the front of our minds then. Escaping radiated areas on wooden ships because metal ships would retain and emit radiation. The "purple berries" in the line, "Hey, can I have some of your purple berries?" refers to iodine pills. Iodine helps combat radiation poisoning. "Silver people on the shoreline" is people in radiation suits. At one point, he asks, "I can tell your coat, my friend, you're from the other side. There's just one thing I got to know, can you tell me please, who won?" Echoing the catastrophic futility of nuclear war and the fact that civilians can get along while politicians sacrifice the world at the altar of their ego and power. I loved this song for 40 years before learning what it was about. I just adored the sort of psychedelic 70s rock vibe, the brilliant bass line, and of course, as always, the fantastic vocal harmonies.
The many Queen songs just have no equal. Pure sound and entertainment. That was Queen, they were entertainers. I know you have done a tone of Queen on reactions, You should if not all ready do live At Wembley Stadium. Basically LIVE AIDE. You got to check it out. We are the Champions and others great songs

The first song I ever heard by Queen was "Keep Yourself Alive". I believe it was one of their first.
Yep, it was their debut single.
@@KierenP I bought the album after I heard it.
I was visiting a friend in Madison, Wisconsin listening to some music and he played Queen's first album. The first song was Keep Yourself Alive, and it just blew me away!
Roger’s drums on that one!!!!
@@richardb6260 Me, too.
*I was 15 years old at the time, our team had won the Soccer World Cup and we heard this song at a party. It's crazy how fast time flies.*
Rub it in 😀! Your friendly Western neighbor.
You guys REALLY need to check out "Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen. It's such a banger, Metallica even did a cover of it!! You won't be disappointed.
YESSS... Live at the Rainbow in 1974!🖖
Stone Cold Crazy shows another side of the genius that is Freddie Mercury and Queen. I listened to this album, Sheer Heart Attack, on repeat when I was a teenager in the 70s, along with Queen II and A Night at the Opera.
The Whole LP!!!
@@caroleann_2142 That goes without saying...LOL!
Still sounds great 48 years on I think this was their second hit after Seven Seas Of Rye
"To avoid complications, she never kept the same address" always loved that line.. Great job you guys.,✌️
For a little softer side of Queen, check out "You're My Best Friend". It is truly lovely.
If you want to hear the playful side of Queen, then you couldn't do worse than to listen to/react to, 'Seaside Rendezvous', 'Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon', or, 'Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy.'
Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy is my favourite 😁
Or don’t stop me now
If you really want to see Freddie command a stage react to Queen's Live Aid performance. Also listen to Stone Cold Crazy. Some say it was the precursor to speed metal.
I'm really surprised that they haven't done that yet. It's widely considered to be one of the top live performances of all time.
@@jainthorne4136 I have recommended it few previous times
:D I can only "like" your comment once, but that Live Aid performance is just the best. I hope Rob and Amber take a look at it.
@@JustMe-vk4fn hope so too
@@josephclark9403 Apparently you have to pay most of these reactors to get a song reacted to. I've requested Cool Cat probably a hundred times.
You should listen to the Queen song "Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" which is amazing to me as it is lyrically portraying the painting by English artist Richard Dadd (from the 1800s) -- It is a beautiful painting and I have a print on my wall.
I didn't know about the painting. I'll look it up. But the song, as you say, is a masterpiece.
@@jibteenuc9836 Yes, look at the painting as you listen to the song.
Freddie is a charismatic showman and what an incredible voice. Queen was amazing!
Here are a bunch in chronological order:
Keep Yourself Alive, Doing All Right, Seven Seas of Rhye, March of the Black Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, You’re My Best Friend, The Prophet’s Song, Love of My Life, Somebody to Love, Tie Your Mother Down, Play the Game, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Hammer to Fall, Who Wants to Live Forever, I Want It All, These Are the Days of Our Lives (Freddie’s last video), The Show Must Go On
Some interesting choices there (favourites of yours)?
I think you'll find Show must go On came before These are the Days 😊
@@paulmargett9360 Not according to Wiki. They’re both on the Innuendo album with These are the Days … released a month earlier than Show Must Go On. Of course, Wiki could be wrong.
This is the first Queen song I ever heard and I don't they ever topped it. Perfection!
nobody can switch their voice up like Freddie he gives you 10 vocalists in one song. His range & expression are unmatched. he takes you on a journey
So glad you've got back to the greatest group ever to have existed ( in my opinion)
For more classic Queen try "We are the Champions" "We Will Rock You" "Somebody to Love" "Show must go On" or Freddie's duet with Montserrat Caballe "Barcelona".
Such a versatile band, this was their second big hit in the UK, a complete contrast to their first hit Seven Seas Of Rhye but just as great.
Don't Stop me Now (from havin' a good time!) is a good and fun and happy Queen song you should hear.
It was my 21st birthday and I was thinking, "Best present ever!" during their set.
I've been waiting for you to do this one! This is in my top three favorites by Queen. Glad you liked it.
Thank you Jay and Amber for more Queen. Killer Queen was one of their earlier hits. It’s soooo good. Love this. Miss Queen and Freddie.😊❤️
I absolutely love the harmonies in this song! They all blend so beautifully! ❤
I love this song..."You're My Best Friend" Needs to be next!
first time i heard Killer Queen was in ‘74 while at band camp…i was walking through the cafeteria, and this song came on…it LITERALLY stopped me in my tracks…that was the day i became a Queen fan…
J & Amber, you'll love their "You’re My Best Friend" !!
My favorite track by Queen 💯
I love Brian May's super-saturated guitar solo, in triple harmony at points.
I didn't like Queen much in the 80s Their music was way better in the 70s Heres proof1974
This was their first ever tv appearance, it was on top of the pops, an old british tv show.
BTW of course their most iconic song is the Bohemian rhapsody, but my favorite queen song is: was it all worth it
Theatrical Freddy ?? Is there another kind?
Umm... MORE theatrical Freddie? You're right, he was the ultimate showman.
Ahh Queen... far too many tracks to recommend but what I will is , You take my breath away, quite simply one of the greatest love songs ever
I’d love to see you revisit Steely Dan. It’s been a minute since you last heard them. “Black Cow”, “Hey Nineteen”, “Peg” are all great choices.
Queen is Alpha God tier. They harmonize so perfectly. The instruments are impeccable, sustained, and perfectly tuned for their vocals.
You guys need to see their Live Aid performance from 1985. Iconic moment in music
He always has the Mic stand because often times he would struggle getting the Mic loose from the stand, so unstead he began just grabbing the entire stand to avoid the trouble ! (I highly recommend the film Bohemian Rhapsody with Rami Malek playing Freddie)
Have to agree, you now need to review the film, it's a must for music and background
This is a great example of how no one can put them into a genre box.
It's the voice.. he sings like an angel. It's unrivaled.
One of my favorite facts is that Brian May, the lead guitarist, built the guitar he uses. He also has a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London.
Yes, and a real, earned Doctorate, not some honorary degree. That means advanced math in there too. Smart dude.
I can’t think of anybody better at combining piano and guitar than Queen.
"Spread Your Wings"; "Get Down, Make Love"; "Liar"; "Death on Two Legs"; "One Vision"; "39"; "Brighton Rock"; "Tie Your Mother Down"; "Ogre Battle" are just a few Queen Sons for reactions.
Great suggestions! You're obviously a true Queen fan, not just a Greatest Hits fan.
@@jasonszabo9203 Been a Queen fan since 1973. My favorite group. Heck, from pick any album from Queen 1 through The Game, you could react to just about any song. Even filler tracks on the Game like "Dragon Attack" and "Sail Away Sweet Sister" are good songs..

Ha, ha! I had to.
Freddie was a born entertainer.

Then there is the fantasy side of Queen....Fairy Fellers Master Stroke will blow your mind!
Well done on reaching 250,000 subscribers xx...this was Queens first hit they were on Top of the Pops and were unhappy they couldn’t sing live xx

beautiful song by Dave Clarke, so glad he asked Freddie to sing that also Time
his voice on that is amazing but as always he owns it! makes every song feel like it's his from the heart
One of my top 10 favorite songs! Since forever. ❤️
You have to see ( Celine Dion - It's all Coming Back to me now) Great Song and Story telling in a Mansion! Official Video!!!

White Queen - Live at Hammersmith.
Gotta react to "Sail Away Sweet Sister", and "Save Me", by Queen

I call it Queens 'Beatle's' song. Because it reminds me of the Beatles.
The drums - different little phrases. Not realised before how the drum support varies so much.
@@beandean23 I never really thought about it, but it does kind of sound like a Beatle's song.

Great stuff.
...except that MJ was all of 16 when Killer Queen was released - so it was MJ who was emulating Freddy - not the other way around
@@markchapel6694 I wasn't saying one was emulating the other, as much as they both commanded the stage.
If you two want a masterpiece on par with "Bohemian Rhapsody", in fact it preceeded it by a couple years, I suggest "March of the Black Queen/Funny How Love Is" off of their album Queen II. You have to do both together or you'll lose how it was laid out on the record.
Nice reaction! Try Mason Williams “Classical Gas”!🤘🔥
It’s the lyrics in this song I love….. “Caviar and cigarettes, well versed in etiquette”….. or “Let them eat cake she says just like Marie Antoinette”….. SHE is described as royalty or at least she thinks of herself as royalty.
It is so thrilling to see the young generation get into the songs that we boomers grew up on! Love it!!!!!

This is the song , along with 'Flick of the Wrist" on the "B" side way back late 1974 , Queen has been my religion since ! 🙂
