- This Historic Collection Flying V '59 Korina was played extensively by Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi between 2002 and 2005. Lightweight Korina body and a thin profile one-piece Korina neck with a rosewood fretboard and 22 frets with pearl dot position markers. Two '57 reissue PAF Humbuckers with outputs of 7.97k and 7.73k. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and modernistic "V" shaped metal tailpiece. All hardware gold plated. The guitar is inscribed on the top "Richie / Sambora "05" / Everyday Video / Bounce Tour / S.N.L. "05"". Near mint, housed in it's original Gibson black hardshell case. [together with] - the original framed Platinum Award with Platinum Disc for the "Bounce" tour, engraved on the bottom of the frame and signed on the glass in black marker "Richie Sambora "05."" This is a great substitute for players wanting to leave the original at home and use this Historic model Flying V to play a gig. Production is very limited. This is Gibson's highest list price Flying V. These are now nearly as rare as the originals the 2001 List Price was $13,992.

James Wilkes i own a 2006 cherry flying v, thing rips and has a great clean tone. flying v's don't get the recognition they deserve i think.
Very interesting, It's just I imagined them to be traditional "Metal" guitars. But I guess it's because it's a Gibson and not an Ibanez.
They're closer to an SG than an LP tonewise because the body thickness and mass is not far off and the neck joins really high up. I love V's but not the pointy teenage headbanger types. Must be old school. About to start a custom v build. Very excited :-)
Most guitars sound good clean when they’re played well. Phil never disappoints.

I think he doesn't use any effects because he wants to show the true tone of the guitar (and I don't think he's big wah-person). Plus, he played some White Stripes songs on the vids with Airline guitar. Just search for it.
Dude you pulled off Riding on the Wind singing AND playing it!? YOU ARE A GOD. You should do some classic Priest like something off of Stained Class or Sin after Sin. And then you should play Sails of Charon by the Scorpions!
