trainerred206 well said man , yes she did indeed and Jimi Hendrix and Tommy iommy ( none of them as good as sister Rosetta Tharpe cos she is the greatest guitarist in history)
Had one on loan early 70's while my 66 Strat was in the shop for a fret job. The neck was so bowed it was only playable with a slide. Wish I could have played one with a truss rod adjusted/not broken.
I keep telling my friends at school that listening to those pop songs over and over again isn't what is going to keep the spirit of rock and roll alive. We have to listen to the good stuff and keep the tradition of making GOOD music going! rock on and long live rock and roll~!!
Such a beautiful guitar.. This is just like Mary Ford's SG that Les Paul learned to hate. He wanted his name taken off of these SGs... Phil tears it up again..!!!
It's kind of funny that less than a month ago you guys hit 12 mil views, and then before this even comes out, you have 13 mil. Hah, next time you do a session, you should just have Phil thank us in advance :) Great guitar, as always. I've always loved the Les Paul SG's. That neck pup distorted sounded close to a Clapton tone.
@w3b5t3rvg thats the one! every guitar is taken apart, Photographed inside and out for authentication, cleaned put back together set up and rephotographed for the studio shot..
If I remember correctly, in the middle position, LP and SG Customs are wired so that the middle pickup is in series and out of phase with the bridge pickup. So you have neck, middle plus bridge (OOP) and bridge. Traditional LP and SG custom three pickup wiring doesn’t have the middle pickup by itself
For everyone who says "Just cause it says Les Paul custom doesn't mean it's a les paul" well, Most people don't know is that the inventors (Les Paul) girlfriend/wife had the first ever original SG custom. And that Custom is engraved with "Les paul" being her special model. Look it up, it's true :3
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.......Blackfoot, bonus #1. Reverence/acknowledgement of Rickey Medlocke's abilities...bonus #2 "Warped" off the Tomcattin' album......HELLS yes! Keep the goodies comin, guys
All drill, a drill from Phil the drill! HA! haha...(silently comtemplates all of his life decisions that led him to this moment and phrase) Thanks for everything you do Phil keep rocking!
if he wouldn't say all that awesome random stuff, he wouldn't be Phil, frettedamericana wouldn't have this much views. Phil's personality (and obviously his skill) are what make these videos what they are: more than just reviews, they're pure entertainment. so if you don't like, just shut your face and watch other reviews ;)
Thanks for another video, like your personality Phil X!!!! I too, don't like picking with the middle pickup there. I only have one guitar with a middle pickup the ESP St-1 Elite. That has a single EMG in the middle and it just sounds too good to part with.
Rosetta Tharpe love that guitar I think they buried her with it and Mary Ford hated that thing It was the same way Less Paul felt about it and made them get rid of it. I think that's when it became the solid guitar SG
Thank you for your time , Phil . Teaching us kick-azz licks and riffs on vintage Jamsters . Particularly gibsons ! Wish to hell I had a guitar teacher like you...off funny humor , damn good playing skillz . And a good memory of the good tunes .
Damn I was looking for a certain type of SG to ad to my collection and this came up. I forgot how damn awesome these videos were!
Wow, last watched this 10 years ago - i love how awesome his playing is
Phil Has a good life, guitars, moms cooking, and YEEAAAOO!
sometimes when i feel sad i come here to watch phil playing...it made my day :D
It was a huge honor for me to play a guitar like that, cuz I saw one at a music store
It’s official, with the addition of “ Warped” Phil knows how to play every song ever written.
Phil X is the Boxxy of guitar.
Ianoodin LOL
Not at all
Is he high?
@Ianoodin
Um, Boxxy is in her 20s, how's it creepy?
I could listen to this rather than drinking coffee because this is just so energetic
They should put these old guitars in a museum, these should be put in a glass case! Love old guitar's... They are art!
they should not behind glass, then nobody can enjoy these amazing beautys
So cool! Sister Rosetta Tharpe had a very very similar guitar!
I´m on a drug and it´s called Phil X. I can´t get enough of this guy and all these awsome guitars.

pwah that clean tone is just incredible. one of the best clean tones I have ever heard. ooh mama thats some sweet sounds
Great guitar playing! I learn a lot from watching you.
these are the only videos over 9 minutes on youtube that are even worth watching.
If everybody had this guy's energy and attitude...there'd be cities on the moon and colonies on Mars...!!!
What an incredible guitarist you are
no one had more fun on gear demos than Phil X. did not give a damn
This guitar is like Phil X; they're both super awesome!
why do I love watching this guy play so much? :D
Sister Rosetta Tharpe played one of these (she inspired rock n roll, specifically Lil Richard, Chuck Berry and Elvis)
trainerred206 well said man , yes she did indeed and Jimi Hendrix and Tommy iommy ( none of them as good as sister Rosetta Tharpe cos she is the greatest guitarist in history)
That’s funny u mention her cause in my reconditions she is playing this guitar in a railway yard for a lame audience
Glen buxton too and he's big dick
This guy is pure gold and... the guitar isn't bad hahaha joking, both the guitar and the player are amazing, fkn miss Phil X
My first good guitar was one of these, I bought it in 1975 for $600 and sold it in 1992 for $3000 worth $20-$25K now
Chris Biggar : nothing from the 70's is worth $25k
Had one on loan early 70's while my 66 Strat was in the shop for a fret job. The neck was so bowed it was only playable with a slide. Wish I could have played one with a truss rod adjusted/not broken.
i have an appreciation for classic rock thanks to PHIL X!!!!!!!!!
I keep telling my friends at school that listening to those pop songs over and over again isn't what is going to keep the spirit of rock and roll alive. We have to listen to the good stuff and keep the tradition of making GOOD music going!
rock on and long live rock and roll~!!
I guess you guys aren't ready for that, but your kids are gonna love it.
Ricky Medlock was Lynyrd Skynyrd long time friend ... from childhood, Ronnie Van Zant wrote a song to his father ....
Such a beautiful guitar.. This is just like Mary Ford's SG that Les Paul learned to hate. He wanted his name taken off of these SGs... Phil tears it up again..!!!

This video was made on my birthday
Phil X is playing one of the most amazing SGs ever and people decide to waste time talking about dyslexia....There are other sites for therapy....
This is the greatest guitar ever! I need it!
Vintage Mary Ford's / Les Paul's 1961 Gibson SG electric guitar is still on ebay for $111,999.00.
Someone buy it for me.......LOL Phil is a BLAST..!!!
Loved the Bad Company cover!!
Been learning Frankenstein. Couldn't remember if you ever played it. Then I happen on this video! Great stuff!
I have a white SG Les Paul. 1961 :)))))))
Oh my fuckin godd

these videos are so much better than the newer ones. You guys have changed some things and i dont think it makes them as good as these :/
Thank You Phil!! I've been wanting to know that part to Frankenstein..
It's kind of funny that less than a month ago you guys hit 12 mil views, and then before this even comes out, you have 13 mil. Hah, next time you do a session, you should just have Phil thank us in advance :)

The best rock band of reviews Phil X + Germandude + Fuzzbox Girl!!!!!
That's what every guitar should look like.

For everyone who says "Just cause it says Les Paul custom doesn't mean it's a les paul" well,

That Bad Company bit was particularly cool.

In a perfect world, this guy would do the evening news. Or....run for president and win.
don't care about what you're smoking prior to a video, but you make the best damn guitar review videos out there!

He says he never done drugs and I believe him dude. Some people are just high energy like that loving life
wooow that's the mos beautiful gibson ive seen
PhilX, a man so dangerous he had to take out a restraining order on himself.
the sg has the feel, the LP has the tone. both have history.
Really want one!!!

www.bilirkisiheyeti.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/erkin_koray_iv_by_mehmeturgut.jpg

if you didn't find out already, it's 'james gang'- "funk 49". joe walsh: guitar & vocals. pre-eagles.
@PhilibusterII thanks. i was listening to their songs for an hour and never found it lol
What some people may not realize is that Phil would sound good even on a shitty guitar and don't forget the importance of the amps he plays through!
You're crazy!!! But I like so much to see you! Great guitar!
Rosetta Tharpe love that guitar I think they buried her with it and Mary Ford hated that thing It was the same way Less Paul felt about it and made them get rid of it. I think that's when it became the solid guitar SG
This how a test should be.. rockin´ out! what an amusing dude.. HEY PHIL, AWESOME! ja ja.. funny... and not boring... that´s something!
