    Kinda surprised you didn’t go with ADO for any of the kit. They offer titan swap UCA’s, leaf packs, all in one place. Ironically, their RCKilla is probably the best “entry” level lift on the market lol

    I saw the new All dogs upper control arm has a unique bend in it so it will allow full droop on a Titan swap.
    I wouldn't do a body lift, try to keep the center of gravity low and just get a skinnier tire and proper offset wheel so you could tuck better.

    Your rig's coming along really nice. Definitely needs a new set of leaf packs in the rear for just a little more lift and rake(if you plan on hauling stuff too). I went with the medium load Dobinson's and I love em so far. Hopefully you won't need to cut that much plastic but, more importantly, I can't wait to see you wheel it again!

    I did the MRR Dobinson titan swap kit on mine and one thing you gotta be careful on is the Dobinson shocks in the rear arent very long so they will over extend if you run 3+" in the rear. I had a fab shop cut my lower shock mounts off and raise them 2" that way it sits more in mid travel and gives me a little more ground clearance. When im fully flexed my shock is no longer the limiting factor and my leaf pack fully extends giving me a little more flex.

    • @4wdAdventurz
      @4wdAdventurz  Місяць тому

      Good to know! Which ones should I get for more travel? Any suggestions? I was literally about to order those Dobinson’s IMS for the rear tomorrow.😬

      @@4wdAdventurz Im not really sure there is anything out yet to accommodate that much of a lift. The MRR extended shocks are the longest ones I could find. 24.25" fully extended all the other are like 22/23" When I had the fab shop redo my lower mounts they ended up using thicker steel too because the oem ones are paper thin. I mashed mine pretty bad when I was out on a trip in Colorado on Pearl pass.

    What is a titan swap. I found it on Z1. Is it just a lift? My brain keeps thinking you’re swapping parts off a Nissan titan when I hear it. But I can just buy a kit off Z1? I’m new to the offroad club so it’s all really confusing still. I really think the titan swap frontiers look the best of all the lifts. Just not sure what that means haha. Does it make your tire off set come out a little more naturally? These are my questions

    • @4wdAdventurz
      @4wdAdventurz  16 днів тому +1

      Yes! A “titan swap” is all the suspension components off a Nissan Titan, installed on a Nissan frontier. Not only does it provide 3.5-4 inches of lift but also greatly increases the range of motion of the suspension.
      Some would argue a “real” Titan swap is the suspension, frond diff, rear axle, and v8 motor out of a Titan in a frontier.. but… 🤷🏼‍♂️
      You definitely can just buy a kit off Z1. They lots of good options depending on your budget. As you saw in the video, I went with the Dobinsons kit.

    Eight or 9 inches aint small, brother. 🤣
    But seriously, I'd chop it up _last._ How much you need to trim will definitely be affected by things like the body lift or even wheel spacers in the rear. And once you cut it, that's it. You can't put that toothpaste back in the tube, y'know? Same with the 16" rims. Make friends with Xterra guys who run 35s on 16s and maybe one will let you put the 35s on to see how it looks and what you'd need to trim on the stock rims (since 2nd gen Xterras have the same bolt pattern, according to google). Regardless, great looking build, glad you're happy with it. Hope it'll be more sturdy than the old one. Can't be fun blowing CV axles every couple months. Once you get it regeared and those lockers in, it'll give a Gladiator Rubicon or ZR2 Bison a run for it's money.

    • @4wdAdventurz
      @4wdAdventurz  Місяць тому +1

      @@4wdAdventurz that's what I'm on. I'm on a 35x11.5" tire rather than a traditional 35x12.5 (or 315/70/r17). Although I eventually will go to a 12.5" wide tire, the 11.5" wide let me keep the factory rims for a little while longer.

    On the wheel spacers thing. One thing to bear in mind, is that track width is usually wider on the front than on the rear. I would be inclined to take that into consideration before adding any rear wheel spacers. The other downside to wheel spacers, is that they introduce another point of failure between the axle and the wheel. I used to work as a mechanic and later, an automotive partsman that helped guys with a lot of 4x4 stuff. The number of guys that insisted on running wheel spacers wound up regretting the decision after either breaking the wheel spacer, and or bending or even shearing off the wheel studs. Watch track width difference front to back, ya need to have some cuz it promotes stability, and the other thing if you're intent on running wheel spacers, you definitely want to look into some longer wheel studs so you get an adequate amount of thread into the wheel lugs. If you're going to go with an inch thick spacer, I would have them hub centric machined for the axles, make them out of either billet steel or VERY hard, tough aluminum. If they are going to be an inch plus thick, I would have them setup so you can bolt them on using plain jane wheel nuts, but also have them drilled for being able to press in a complete set of new factory wheel studs. What I mean is having 12 holes, where 6 are to mount to the axle, and 6 to press new studs into to bolt on the wheels.
    The only other way to do a similar thing, would be to get some Moroso 3 inch long racing wheel studs, probably have the axles drilled so you can pull the axles and have them pressed in properly, and then using either a billet steel (preferred) or again, a VERY hard aluminum wheel spacer that fits *VERY* tightly over the studs so you stand a decreased risk of torque induced flexing of the longer studs within the spacer itself. Of course, use COPIUS amount of antiseize grease on absolutely EVERYTHING !!
    Either way, try to have the spacer precisely machined so they can be female hub centric to the axle, and male hub centric to your wheels. Doing this will also minimize wheel balance issues, and if you do find this a problem, find a shop that can do an 'on car' balance of the wheels. The other caveats to poking the wheels out that extra inch or inch and a half are articulation may jam the tire into the body of the vehicle, and moving the wheel further out from the axle bearing will increase side loading on the bearing itself, and can induce a premature failure, just like excessively offset wheels can. Ultimately, the only other way around this is to do a complete rear axle swap to pick up that extra bit of width so you *don't* hafta run a spacer or risk axle bearing failure.
    Good luck with your swap, it's lookin pretty damn nice so far !! I have a 2014 Pro4x Titan that *maybe* someday might get a lift and some other stuff done for off roading, but I'm leaning more towards a 5.3 LS swap with trans and t/case, solid axle front and companion rear axle and custom lift on my 2000 xTerra !! There's an awful lot of awesome places where I live in British Columbia, Canada to get off the beaten path have a blast off roading !! Keep her wheels down man !!

    I did Mikelli’s 2” body lift on my 23 frontier. The instructions make it seem more intimidating than it really is. I despise the gap between the rear bumper and tailgate now. Really hoping they can come out with a bracket for it soon

      The only thing holding me back is when I install the new front bumper. Will there be a gap on that?

      I still have the stock bumper which I had to trim underneath where it meets the factory skid plate. I’d assume you’d be fine, but not 100% sure. Mikelli might know

    Glad to see your back in action definitely get you some wheel spacers for the rear looks a little funny without them kinda like that dude in the gym that only benches and skips leg day.🤣🤣🤣. Having the front and rear locked with new gears will also be a game changer i did a axle swap on my sv and just having the rear locked has done me wonders on the trail also because mines only wired to the button so i use it in 2hi 4hi and 4lo thats how yours will be when you get the locker in.

      I don’t have a link to the exact set up. But I can give you one that is really really close. If you want it the same set up. I would just call Z1 and tell them what you want.
      I basically got this set up without the upper control arms :
