Had mine just about a month, got the Pro4X. I'm very happy with it. Really lucky getting mine. Went to order it expecingt 4 to 6 months before I get it. As I ordered it the salesperson stopped, excused himself, and came back a few minutes later telling me that they have one, exactly like the one I was ordering, currently on order for their inventory. I could reserve it for $500.00. I put down $2000.00. To my surprise, that weekend the salesman called and said my new truck was in. I went in Monday, and picked it up. I would like to get better tires for off road, but other than that. I'm happy. My Pro4X has Andriod audio. It literally takes over the functions of the phone. I'm okay with that.
I had much rather have the hydraulic steering over the electronic steering. It doesn't wear you out on long trips like electronic steering does. I'm glad Nissan stayed with hydraulic steering. After 5k miles on mine I can steer it with one finger with a little effort
Just bought a 2022 frontier, good price 👍. Had a Tacoma for 6 years, l like the Nissan engine and transmission better than the Tacoma. Plus it is a simple design and maintenance is easy on it. Love the way it looks and drives. I highly recommend this truck.
Great truck.. just the halogen headlights and fog lights are horrible. Hoping I can just put a pair of 9007 silverstar bulbs in painlessly, really don’t need LED.
Frontier= fully boxed titan frame ( ability to titan swap suspension and engine) Dana 44 rear diff, Dana front diff, spicer transfer case with almost class leading 60:1 crawl ratio, rear disc brakes, built in USA and strong naturally aspirated V6. Tacoma= c channel frame prone to rust failure, crappy seating position, overpriced, class least crawl ratio 33:1 and now built in Mexico.
Agree, the hydraulic assist PS is a great feature for a truck and (on my '23 Pro-4X) they use nice 17" rims vs. 20 on most full size trucks anymore. My '23 does have a lane departure warning but no lane departure keep. It warns you with a vibrating steering wheels, it does NOT try and pull you back into the lane like my GMC will do. Noisy engine? Not true on mine, very quiet. They are Direct Injected.
I bought my 22 Frontier in June got about 800 miles on it. It has the technology package with sensors all around front, back & on the side’s it is the S model up-grade. I’ve changed the medal rims & put aluminum rims on it looks much better. All-n-all I would buy another one without a second thought. Traded 2018 frontier in on it I got 20 thousand out of it because it only had 32 thousand miles on it. It’s the 3rd one I’ve owned & don’t think I’ll be buying any other kind of truck. I’ve got a cold air intake, upgraded exhaust system & a throttle body spacer on ordered going to push that 310 hp up to about 350 hp with about 310 foot pound of tork.
If you think the 2022 model is great, the 2024 SV is quite capable. I snagged one off the lot and day 1 took it off roading with the factory SV tires. Sunk it to just below the headlights on accident and it climbed out of the “puddle” in 4 Lo as if I were driving up my driveway. Then I took it through sand so loose that if you low crawled you’d create a trench and it maintained course and traction no problem. Also in 4 Lo but again with factory SV tires not rated for off-road play. I can’t get over how exceptionally a factory 4x4 with no off-road amenities can perform so well. I’m almost glad I didn’t get the pro 4x because now I can customize the truck to MY needs off road and save a few bucks doing so. If you’re new to trucks like I am, those shocks on the pro 4x, useless if you put on a 2 inch lift due to sizing issues. What else do you get with the pro 4x? A 360 camera, skid plate, locking rear differential. My wife is my 360 camera, my wife won’t let me scrape bottom so no need for the skid plate, and actual off-road tires with grip can help fill the gap of not having a locking rear differential. I wouldn’t trade this in for a Tacoma TRD if Toyota paid me.
I use my 2022 to tow my 18ft dove tail car hauler and race car. It does the job no problems. Two things I don't like are the adaptive cruise control and the nanny tech package. I turn off what I could. The back up sensor should go off per press and run instead of when you shift into reverse. You can guess how annoying it is to maneuver a trailer with it beeping. In summary, the truck part is good, the tech part is not good. Recommended upgrades:bars/running boards, floor liners, bed cover.
I have a 2016 pro 4x and before that a 2011 sv long bed and drove and drive both of them hard. Never a problem what so ever and we have a Nissan SUV and I will never pay for a name but only for reliable proven cars and trucks. Toyota's are good but not any better, I have friends that only drive Toyota's and say the same thing, good but not better.
Toyota still has a long ways on their infotainment system. The Frontier is nice since the bed is not as high as the Ranger or Colorado. I'm waiting for the cost to go down. Priced a Pro-4x online at $41k. No one has one the way I want and they are asking at least $46k at most that I have seen.
@@SA-hk8xj Titan, Frontier, Murano and some Altimas are built in Canton MS. Smyrna TN builds Pathfinder, Rogue, Leaf, Altima and Maxima. At one time Frontier was built in TN but, production was shifted to MS several years ago.
I'm one of those owners of the "garbage, throw away CVT Altimas" you speak of, and I think you (and a lot of other people) probably over-exaggerate the truth a little. Love or hate the CVT, It's not a "garbage throw away vehicle" and has actually been very reliable, and I know other people that have had long lasting ones. I actually trust it more than our early Toyota Venza. Anyway, thanks for sharing. I'm considering this vs a gen 3 Taco.
I owned one of the 2022s and I will say the lack of lumbar support in the drivers seat was a huge killer for me if you have any kind of back problems at all the seats are not comfortable for extensive driving. Nissan calls them “zero gravity seats” but I found these seats actually put you in a clam shell seating position you’re driving kind of hunched over. Also the paint chipped off my hood fairly easy only after a couple of thousand miles. I was getting average 17 to 19 MPG city it is a direct injected engine it is powerful and has tons of low torque. I’m a big fan of hydraulic steering but to be honest if you do a lot of city driving you’re gonna notice the heaviness and rigidity of the steering and definitely get a nice little arm workout. Also with the Apple CarPlay anytime I will get an iOS update from Apple I would then have problems until Nissan would send an update to the vehicle this happened several times. All in all it’s a nice vehicle for the price but I did up trading it in for a ridgeline which I’m much happier with. If you’re thinking about one of these I encourage you to maybe rent one or borrow one from a friend before you make that decision there are some shortcomings Nissan already has a recall out on the transmission and has temporarily stopped selling them.
@ 3:00 I considered a 2022 Frontier SV top to replace my 2016 Pro-4X. I was able to add the spray-in bed liner for $500. I could not add the Utili-Track option. Ironically, the actual Frontier was not available because before a transmission recall resulted in a stop sell being issued on new Frontiers and Titans. I wasn't going to pay the 5K market adjustment anyway but I found a 2020 Frontier Pro-4X with just 2400 miles that was identical to my totaled 2016. Sadly, it is under tranny recall, too.
I rolled my Frontier bed with Herculiner (amzn.to/3S2gyYZ). It's held up for 9 months and going strong. I also went with a bed mat for extra protection. If you want to drop $200, the WeatherTech Bed Mat for the 2022-2024 Frontier has really good reviews (amzn.to/3WfsjxZ), but I went with the TripleAlingers (amzn.to/3xOXHd1) for about half the price and haven't had issues for \~6 months.
This is my first push to start vehicle, does everyone else’s frontier make like a slight clicking noise when hit the push to start, when turning off the vehicle?
I'd have bought one already but they wanted a 7k market adjustment then I found another place and they wanted 5k over... I said F it I'll keep running my Tacoma lol
I don’t understand why people talk about it doesn’t have this it doesn’t have that OK if you’re a truck driver then you don’t need all that crap you talk about just announce you have a steering wheel brakes that’s it do you wanna have all that crap in the vehicle by a car
The ONLY thing keeping me from one of these is the direct injection engine. That’s going to cause problems in the future. Looks like I’ll hang on to me ‘15 frontier with the 4.0
Agree about DI, but it’s the lesser of the two evils…I definitely do not want a fourbanger with turbo 🤮 DI has been around for a while and there is just more maintenance involved to keep it running, but I’m ok with that.
@@dalephillips8250 DI motors hv been around for a while now. BMW, Minis, Hyundais, etc. Have a neighbor with an older BMW (5 series I think) w DI. He purchased it used with 80k. He had the valves cleaned chemically upon purchase. He just uses better oil and does more frequent oil changes. He also does the CRC cleaner through the intake before his oil changes as preventative. He’s only put about 25k since purchase, and still enjoys it and it’s performance. That’s really the only area one has to monitor more w DI, otherwise it’s basically the same. I would think the more frequent oil changes would benefit the entire engine as well, so I don’t see the engine life degrading sooner than with a port injected one. The port one acts like a constant cleaner of the valves. So if you just do the maintenance and monitor the valves you should have a long lasting motor as well. 👍 Of course u can also add the “catch can” that supposedly helps, but I personally think that adds restriction to the air venting out and going in. But everyone has their opinions on that topic as well. 😉😁
@@SA-hk8xj thanks for the info....just seems like an extra expense to keep it from caking on the valves. I wonder how much that cleaning cost him but 80K is not a lot of milles for a good engine. I have an air pressure gauge inside of the cab of my truck tomorrow to the air pressure in the tank as well as monitoring the air pressure that’s going to the air horns. I have super bright LED brake lights underneath the bed besides the ones that came with the truck. I can light up the face of anybody behind me like a Christmas tree when I step on my breaks ❤ I have superbright LED lights in the grill in front of my airhorns that make sure everybody knows that I’m getting ready to make a turn to the left or the right there’s no mistaking as to whether I’m going to hit my brakes or make a turn. I do like the truck when it comes to changing the oil it’s really easy I like the dash monitoring system where I can program it to remind me at a certain number of miles that it’s time for me to change my oil I get to choose how many miles before I change my oil. I do like the dash as far as it giving me control and ability to monitor the service on my truck. I get to choose what I wanted to tell me not some kind of program. ❤❤ I’m thinking about putting air shocks on the truck that will be tapped into my air compressor system that’s in the bed of my toolbox and I will be able to increase or decrease the pressure to my air shocks from inside of the cab of my truck. I just recently ordered a digital air pressure gauge that will monitor the air pressure in the tank as well as monitoring the air pressure. That’s being released to the air horns that will be very nice. I would love to know where I could get some decent flat runningboards from the front to the back I don’t like the tube type of runningboards
Just received a recall notice in the mail. My 2022 Frontier can roll away in park, due to an issue with the parking pawl. Nissan is telling customers to use the manual parking brake when parking the truck. They are working on a remedy due sometime in the Fall of 2022. Glad I leased mine…😂
Have you noticed all the vehicle recalls lately? Have you heard of any Frontiers rolling away? Small pototoes in my opinion. Better than a Tekata airbag blowing your race off!
I average 22.5 MPG in my 2022 Pro 4x and my best trip yet was 28MPG over 100 miles, with 25-27 MPG being common readouts on the display when I shut the truck off.
If it only came in a manual. I'd take it over a Ford, Chevy, dodge though. And I'd take a nissan titan over a Ford, Chevy, dodge. I wish you many years of trouble free driving!
Should offer manual or automatic at same price, like the new Z. What happened to the manual being standard? I don't like this new world. My old Hardbody is still on its first 1987 transmission.
Stop acting like all truck buyers are the same! I've owned trucks for decades and I love the creature comforts. Trucks obviously aren't just utility vehicles anymore. Most people buy them as their daily driver and family hauler, so of course they want the features that you claim no truck buyer cares about. I hate reviews where they try to project their personal values onto the viewer.
The truck does not compete with a Maveric, it is Eqv to the Ford Ranger. the Mav is a toy compared to this truck, USB - C is what everybody is moving to because the EU mandated it for all the Cell Phones sold there, so all Cell phone makers, incl Apple, have to move to it. they won't make 2 diff phones for US and EU market, that's why it's showing up everywhere.
Clunker I had a 2012 frontier gas guzzling pig and that huge fuel tank omg!! Cry every time you fill.up.. rode nice but they need to.go.back.ro.a.4 cyl
Yep…… just now after purchasing my 22 Frontier SV crew cab 3.8 4x4 5 days ago. My truck has a July 2022 date on the VIN label on the drivers door. Some say my truck might not fall under the recall but for now I’ll keep using my parking brake until I get more accurate info.
Just know there is a recall on a lot of these and the titans for the parking pawl not engaging all the way so be aware of that. They had to put a stop sell on this truck. There’s more details about it but you all can look it up.
They are estimating it's on .03% of trucks sold with the transmission, yes it is an issue, but not a large one, mine is fine, and you should ALWAYS use the parking break while parking, manual or automatic, flat or incline, this should be taught in every driving school. Trusting the weight of any vehicle to a transmission component both puts excess wear on that component and risks the lives you, and other people around your vehicle if that component fails.

I would like to get better tires for off road, but other than that. I'm happy. My Pro4X has Andriod audio. It literally takes over the functions of the phone. I'm okay with that.
how do you find the steering to be? is it heavy/stiff?
@@toggle_blackbox9125 It's a bit heavy, but I'm okay with it. I've driven cars that have heavy steering like that.
I had much rather have the hydraulic steering over the electronic steering. It doesn't wear you out on long trips like electronic steering does. I'm glad Nissan stayed with hydraulic steering. After 5k miles on mine I can steer it with one finger with a little effort
@@cahabarivr Too many things can go wrong with the electronic steering too. Nothing like staying old school.
Just bought a 2022 frontier, good price 👍. Had a Tacoma for 6 years, l like the Nissan engine and transmission better than the Tacoma. Plus it is a simple design and maintenance is easy on it. Love the way it looks and drives. I highly recommend this truck.
Excellent video. I agree about the power of simplicity. Thanks for the informative review.
My 22 SV is awesome. I love it. I put a two inch lift already from All Dogs Offroad.
Good owner review! I love my 2021 SV Frontier.
Thank you Jake. Good review. I appreciate the honest review.
Yes it has Android Auto. Trailer brake controller plugs right in. Pro4X also has a Dana 44 rear end.
I’ve got a cold air intake, upgraded exhaust system & a throttle body spacer on ordered going to push that 310 hp up to about 350 hp with about 310 foot pound of tork.
what is a throttle spacer and will it void warranty ?
@@brad4527 it goes between the throttle and the mount gives you about 3/4 inch more space for more fuel, more fuel gives you more horsepower
@@robbiecollins1676 thank you
It's so nice Nissan Frontier...Wow!
I like the Frontier alot. If my '14 Tacoma wasn't so good, I'd be trading it in, on a Frontier SV 4x4. No turbos or hybrids for me. 👍
Great video and review. Want lots more of these.
Great review and very interesting 👍
I've purchased my pro4x with factory drop in bedliner a month ago.
Infotainment on Tacomas are even worse
Built-in Canton Mississippi. Titan is in Tennessee
Yeah, surprisingly no indication on the vehicle sticker of the location. Most vehicles indicate place of manufacturing?? 👍
@@SA-hk8xj Titan, Frontier, Murano and some Altimas are built in Canton MS. Smyrna TN builds Pathfinder, Rogue, Leaf, Altima and Maxima. At one time Frontier was built in TN but, production was shifted to MS several years ago.
@@SA-hk8xj wrong titan and frontiers are both built side by side in canton since they share the same frame
Can you give a year and a half update on how the truck has been? I'm considering this exact trim. Thanks!
Well said 👍🏼💪🏼, how zippy does it feel from a dead stop?0-60?

Quick enough for a truck that size
9 speed transmission-best in class horsepower 310. Closest is Chevy/gmc at 308
Ford ranger raptor 400hp
stay away from Chevy!!!
You will be buying new ball joints , I had and never again! Nissan is a Ox 🐂
I had a Ford Maverick ordered too. I now have a 2023 Pro-X.
The drivers seat has lumbar support. Did you find it yet?
@ 3:00 I considered a 2022 Frontier SV top to replace my 2016 Pro-4X. I was able to add the spray-in bed liner for $500. I could not add the Utili-Track option. Ironically, the actual Frontier was not available because before a transmission recall resulted in a stop sell being issued on new Frontiers and Titans.
I wasn't going to pay the 5K market adjustment anyway but I found a 2020 Frontier Pro-4X with just 2400 miles that was identical to my totaled 2016. Sadly, it is under tranny recall, too.
no worries Pal, it will be fixed and you will be fine:)
I'm 5'07 and my wife is 5'0, I hope a rear- facing car seat fits with us
I ordered a 2021 rubber
bed mat for a Ranger and it fits my Nissan Frontier perfect
Is your Frontier a 2022 shortbed? 2021 Ranger mat you say?
I rolled my Frontier bed with Herculiner (amzn.to/3S2gyYZ). It's held up for 9 months and going strong. I also went with a bed mat for extra protection. If you want to drop $200, the WeatherTech Bed Mat for the 2022-2024 Frontier has really good reviews (amzn.to/3WfsjxZ), but I went with the TripleAlingers (amzn.to/3xOXHd1) for about half the price and haven't had issues for \~6 months.
I’m looking at a 2023 Nissan frontier and the bedliner is sprayed on and the Nissans are selling pretty quickly here in Atlanta
Really good review. Thanks

I'd have bought one already but they wanted a 7k market adjustment then I found another place and they wanted 5k over... I said F it I'll keep running my Tacoma lol
My S trim came with the drop in bed liner. Bought it in May 2022
Which is more useful, the Nissan Frontier or the Ford Maverick? Maybe it's the one you can actually get.
Do you ever miss the tiny slider in the middle of the rear glass? I wish the S came with one but I don't think I'd miss it.
I bought both of mine in late 2021 and they both came with spray in bed liners from the factory, so someone lied too you.
I like the rear head wing:)
Have your bedliner sprayed on. I had mine sprayed and its great.
Good review for simple truck. I wish you had the numbers correct. I'm with you though. Simple cheaper truck.
Good review. If that's an S model though, how did you get it in the green color?? That color isn't available on the base S models.
It is actually base gunmetal grey, not green!

9spd trans right?
The ONLY thing keeping me from one of these is the direct injection engine. That’s going to cause problems in the future. Looks like I’ll hang on to me ‘15 frontier with the 4.0
agreed! while I'm not a big fan of DI, It seems like we have no choice nowadays...
Agree about DI, but it’s the lesser of the two evils…I definitely do not want a fourbanger with turbo 🤮
DI has been around for a while and there is just more maintenance involved to keep it running, but I’m ok with that.
This is the question that I've been asking also....no one gives any example of high mileage DI vehicles of any brand.
Of course u can also add the “catch can” that supposedly helps, but I personally think that adds restriction to the air venting out and going in. But everyone has their opinions on that topic as well. 😉😁
@@SA-hk8xj thanks for the info....just seems like an extra expense to keep it from caking on the valves. I wonder how much that cleaning cost him but 80K is not a lot of milles for a good engine. I still may take a chance on it but would like to be able to keep the valves clean without the help of a dealership or so called professional.
They are nice trucks.
❤ I have a 2022 Nissan frontier crew cab I’m 6 foot two and it seems to me like the hood does not open far enough and I have 30,000 miles on my truck and I have to replace the hood struts under warranty I do have an appointment for the transmission parking lock to be replaced under manufactures warranty. My trucks been modified like no other don’t get me wrong. I’m not bragging but I have a 200 psi air compressor system on board my truck it’s a shame I can’t post pictures here but anybody that sees within the Tool Box of My Truck with impressed and beyond their imagination I spent about $3300 of equipment that’s in the toolbox in the bed of my truck.
❤ I have air horns in the grill of my truck which you cannot see unless you’re really looking deep into the radiator area and they are extremely loud to wake people up that are doing stupid crap on the freeway like texting on the phone. I have an air pressure gauge inside of the cab of my truck tomorrow to the air pressure in the tank as well as monitoring the air pressure that’s going to the air horns. I have super bright LED brake lights underneath the bed besides the ones that came with the truck. I can light up the face of anybody behind me like a Christmas tree when I step on my breaks
❤ I have superbright LED lights in the grill in front of my airhorns that make sure everybody knows that I’m getting ready to make a turn to the left or the right there’s no mistaking as to whether I’m going to hit my brakes or make a turn.

The ford maverick doesn’t compare to that the ranger does
this truck has a recall already something on a parking and transmission..
Nissan Pickups are in a league of their own. Their cars suck but their trucks last for ever!!!! I hate to see they are killing the Titan!!
Find a LineX dealer and get a bedliner installed.
More in line with the ford ranger than the ford maverick
5/8" or 3/4" plywood, cut to fit around wheel wells: Redneck Bed Liner!
They are small when you see it up close and personal

Did you guys hear about the recall on the transmission?
Would be better if Nissan didn't raise the price by $10,000.
exactly. I thought they did great with the redesign, but priced it too high. Of course, the ridiculous market doesn't help either lol
@@Rick-of6gx I paid $20,000 for a 2019 Frontier that had a sticker of $28,000 as I paid $38,000 for the same trim with a 2022 Frontier.
