    Thanks for this video I feel real confident now. I’m restoring an 82 GT and just got the motor out and dash apart. Can’t wait to throw in a k kit and a new rear end. Very excited!

    Expect to modify the bolt holes because they do not line up exactly, I had to move 2 holes over a little to make it work. It took me and a friend 4 1/2 hours to remove the old suspension and put in the new K-member and the A arms. Will start on the struts and camber plates tomorrow.

    Hey Landon! What size wheels and back spacing are you running in the front with the team z front end conversion kit. Tried putting on 17x9 with 5.98 BS. The wheel suck out way past fender and looks like the tire will hit the coil over. Thanks!

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  20 днів тому

      The front wheel setup on the car in the video was a 15x3.5" Weld Prostar with a -13mm offset (1.75" BS). The tire is 185/68/15. A 9" wide front wheel on a Fox Mustang causes problems regardless. I've always had to add steering rack limiters and modify the inner fender splash shields with a heat gun to achieve adequate clearance. Even then, I've still had a 9" wide wheel/tire rub somewhere.
      A 9" wide wheel with a 5.98" BS shouldn't stick "way out" past the fender. If the control arm is Fox spec (center of bushing to center of ball joint). That wheel should "work" with still performing the aforementioned steps above. Are you using an SN spindle? SN spindles will move the wheel out in comparison to a Fox spindle. -Landan

    Will i need A Arms and the coil springs with the LS k member or can i use factory A Arms and springs?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  Рік тому

      You can use factory lower control arms and coil springs with a Team Z LS-swap k-member as long as you run an upper spring perch. We sell the BMR version (links below). Also, due to the variances in aftermarket k-members and factory or factory-style front lower control arms, you'll have to widen the ears on the k-member where the control gets positioned. -Landan
      We did something similar whenever we were mocking up the 7.3L Godzilla engine in one of our cars. Here is the link to that video with the correct time stamp: ua-cam.com/video/U1EskdoIrxQ/v-deo.html

      Yes, the procedure for a 94-04 Mustang is nearly identical. You'll notice this once you start wrenching. -Landan

      @latemodelrestoration  5 років тому

      Joe,
      Excellent question! It is important to have the k-member bolted in, squared up and aligned with the rest of the vehicle. This will ensure that when you have the suspension aligned there will be no surprises. If you have any other question contact us with the link below. Have a great day!

    • @latemodelrestoration

    What part number for that Strange Front Strut for the coilover kit? I have a 1979 Foxbody, but can't find that on your website or Strange website

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  6 років тому +2

      Todd - To my knowledge, Strange only manufacturers their strut to fit 87-93 Mustangs. 79-86 V8 and 79-93 4-cylinder cars will have to convert to 87-93 or 94-04 SN95 spindles to fit the Strange struts. Hope this helps! -Landan

    Hey Landon have you ever but a 4r70w transmission in a fox body mustang if so can you use the stock aod shifter thanks for any info

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  7 років тому

      Gregory - I've never put a 4R70W in a Fox Body. I don't see why the factory shifter wouldn't work. However, the gear selection will read incorrectly since a factory AOD face plate reads "1, 2, D, D(in circle)". A 4R70W utilizes a "1, 2, D and then an electronic O/D off button." Hope this helps. -Landan

      BMR is really nice. Just as good or better as MM and you don't have to use coilovers with BMR every other aftermarket k member you must use coilovers
      I'm gonna use regular style springs and adjustable struts.
