Nice vid. I always leave the spring alone for a few mins to fully relax any remaining energy that might be left when lowering. Also a good idea to leave the strut when removing/installing a spring so when removing or installing, if it slips, you have somewhat a shield for the spring to hit before it flys out at you. Done this many times
Great tips. I think when I installed the springs like a decade ago I must’ve used a compressor. I was surprised at the lack of UA-cam guidance for this!
Thanks for this video. I’m doing these LCAs, lowering springs, caster camber plates, and a bump steer kit on my 88 GT. Do you think it makes sense to start with removing the caliper, like you did here? I watched another video that where they don’t remove the caliper and it suggested separating the spindle from the control arm with a hammer. That seems…odd, especially since I’m doing it without a lift. I’m not sure what order to go in as far as removing the old control arm.
I always get paranoid with brake lines personally (breaking them). Plus it’s only a couple bolts to get the caliper off, so unless it’s beneficial somehow to keep them on, id recommend taking them off. That’s exciting! I need caster camber plates one day!
@davidmoeller17 yea, I was just looking at them today thinking I still needed to do that. Can’t remember what I bought though. Got a grease gun and everythibg
Just about, they are super easy to work on,i can change a alternator in 5 minutes and that would be taking my time, lol A buddy at work has a new car, probably 4 years old and he asked me if i could change a bulb in it and that i would have to take major body panels off and i told him he didn't know what the hell he was talking about, well he did and i passed on the job, no thanks, ha ha ha

That spring is tuff. After powder coating and painting all parts i dident want to gouge them or scrach the paint. Just take time.
Nice! I cant imagine trying to do that without scratching anything 😅😅
Thx for the video
No prob. Hope it’s helpful!

Was this a basic 5lug conversion you did? Or did you upgrade to the sn95 spindles?
This was a kit from 50Resto like 15 years ago. I remember it had Yukon rear axles, not sure of what it provided for the front
Thanks for the video. I was needing to buy a 24mm socket or whole set. Could I get away with the short sockets or do I need deep sockets?
Hey no prob. I honestly can’t remember if you need the deep :/
awesome, I'm doing the same job
Nice! Good luck. Hope it goes smoother than mine lol
@@fiveohmxco do you have to add grease in the ball joints and if you what did you use?

You can do anything with these old cars. I mean anything.

Decent, at the end, i did notice the tire on backward for this side of the car, though.
Haha yea we noticed that too. Thanks!
I hate doing this and i have done it many times over the last 3 decades, lol, those springs are unforgiving.
Surprising how annoying they are lol
