As someone who’s considering this car (wish it had a 6MT) - I really appreciate your deep dive and knowledge around common issues and what to expect. Straight forward, no bias, and no judgement, just the facts. Appreciate it, and keep up the great work!
Thanks for the instructive video. I drive almost 38 years BMW's and like to inform two things: 1. If you replace the battery, always connect a backup battery or battery charger to the circuit before disconecting until replacement is complete. Otherwise you have a big chance that you need to reprogramming the complete Ecu.(€!) 2. BMW always says the ZF automatic transmission has a lifetime oil and don't need any maintenance. Even most BMW garages don't have the knowledge how to flush it. The ZF factory in Germany recommend a flush + filter replacement every 80-100K km (this is officially published). I always do it by a official ZF cervice center (price all incl. 980€) This different mind-set I never understand from BMW!
Well said about oil change. For some people life of a car can be 20, 40K miles but for me, I would like to drive the car as much as I can (As I can't afford a Supra every second year :) Hence, I believe that sales trick "sealed for life" is a bit misleading. Not all of us wants to change their car after 60K miles.
I understand your frustrations about the car as a mechanic. For the rest of us DIY people, this is a huge No No. Thanks for the honest, thorough and informative review :)
This has been one of the easier cars I’ve done modifications to. Repairs haven’t been needed yet but they really kept shit open so you can add performance parts
You’re gonna love doing injectors, intakes, and tank vent valves! At the end of my shift I’ll update this again on everything I’ve seen from the B58 setup. Also are you in IL? Update, so the B58 overall is one of our most leak proof engines when talking about oil. The only oil leak that I have ever done was the oil pan gasket, but they’re pretty rare, and the sealant is so strong it feels like the oil pan is nearly welded to the block. For check engine lights, if the car is equipped with active radiator flaps that’s what is the most common 9 times out of 10 (needing new software, or parts replacement). Another very common issue for the check engine light is the fuel tank vent valve being stuck open causing mixture faults. For the AC, on most New BMWs that “condenser” can cause a lot of concerns for AC not blowing cold. More often than not the issue is because the Low temp coolant circuit is low and needs to be topped off. Recently we have seen a 1 off car where the AC heat exchanger was leaking refrigerant into the coolant circuit which was neat. The intake manifold in rare cases can leak coolant into the combustion chamber, and if the leak is massive can cause hydrolock (never seen that, but possible). This is more common with the S55 where the intercooler is not internal to the manifold though. Overall though the only issues that really happens again is either radiator flaps, or a tank vent valve. The B58 is pretty bullet proof. Supposedly it’s a modified Diesel engine in Europe. The only things changed was the compression ratio, and spark plug holes that I know of. Love the videos!
Are you a BMW mechanic? I am considering buying a Supra and drive it until combustion engines are banned in UK. So, would you say that B58, when I drive with care is a good choice in terms of longevity? Is there any video or articles that you can recommend about what to do and what not do driving a B58 engine.
"The intake manifold in rare cases can leak coolant into the combustion chamber, and if the leak is massive can cause hydrolock (never seen that, but possible)." Nope, don't care how rare or remote the possibility. Any history of coolant leaks is a hard pass. Doubly so if the engine in question is over engineered.
Awesome! I bought a 2020 Supra in July 2020. This is the best summary of what to watch for that I've seen, and I've seen a lot of UA-cam videos on this car. Thanks a ton!
Coming from an E86 Z4 Coupe this finally is a worthy successor. I'd even think long and hard about getting it with the ZF automatic. If anybody is on the fence - go check out the current M3/4/5 and see that it is just the best automatic ever. I stumbled over this channel by accident - boy are you good! A very different and fresh view on a car! The reason for the deal is kind of interesting - these kinds of cars, Coupe even more than the convertible, are really not big sellers. BMW didn't really want to do a new Z4 and Toyota didn't really want to build a new Supra. Who came forward and initiated the talks i don't know, but BMW in the end said "Well, we'll completely build your Supra onto our Z4 base IF we get a good look at the Mirai internals because our Hydrogen7 project stalled so badly". Here we are - Toyota got a really nice Supra without the horrible development costs and BMW gets its first full Hydrogen car (iX5) with the Mirai tech.
I’m a semi truck repair tech and the amount of similar technology between this engine and the trucks I work on every day is insane. I love high pressure common rail design of the injector, incredibly efficient and should be used on all cars eventually. Air to water cooler is the same as a EGR cooler which don’t leak as often as you may think, when they do they very rarely lock up an engine or dump excess coolant in intake circuit. Very very interesting, bmw is onto something here with this engine specifically.
The only downfall I have seem to come across is most normal or average people will not be able to EFFECTIVELY service or do repairs on this vehicle. But at the same time the price of the vechicle seems that most people would not do there own maintenance or repairs, especially when you compare to C8 vette which was supposed to be (back in 2020 and 2019) the biggest competitor.
Just sold my '16 340i (B58), I didn't have any problem with low oil level, but I had low coolant level once and I had to add coolant to it from time to time. When it comes to transmission fluid I would change it every 50k or so you can get the whole transition kit from fco euro or esc tuning websites. When it comes to new battery I used a bimmerlink app with a OBDII reader to program it.
Haha. Im in the same boat. Im also considering this as my future car. But this video is making me re think my decision. Lol. It’s beautiful and I was hoping Toyota refined the engine a little bit to make it more reliable. 😓
@@mohammadkamran5862 I've heard that Toyota engineers actually did redesign this new version of the B58C, along with BMW engineers in order for it to meet Toyota specs and reliability.
As a DMT with Toyota as well, I really enjoy your channel. Other things that are Toyota on the GR Supra are the headlights and the oem rims. You will notice that on most German cars there are 5 holes between each wheel nuts. They are for specific wheel alignment tools and the Supra don't have such holes in the rims.
Thank you for chiming in my brother. That was part of the deleted scenes in this video about the wheels.. Bad idea that the wheels are missing the holes. You’ll find out why if you ever need to calibrate or adjust the radar sensor
had this car for 2 years and 2 months. sold it for a rav4 trd. only problem I had was my passenger side mirror auto dim stopped working. besides that the thing ran pretty amazing. popped tires a lot. drove it all year round in NYC winters though so no battery problems.
If that was the reason you sold it you’ll be sad to know that there’s only dimmed driver side mirror. Yes it’s weird but it’s just how it is - no dimmed passenger side mirror.
@@spyrit32837so I have a 3.0 that I just bought 4 months ago and I never noticed my “mirror dimming”? Could you explain that for me and what is the point of it
sir with all due respect to Toyota . BUT. when BMW stick their nose into any engineering.!! We as a consumer we knew that. down the road in the long run its going to be unreliable. and the cost of repairs. !! it will just take the whole concept of enjoying the ride out of it . unless earning money is easy given!! its the only way buying a BMW is ok. if you respect your money don't wasted on company that engineer for the wealthy not for reliability . and Reliable is the number reason why I do Respect Toyota. for now !! who knows what other disliked/unwanted ideas. Toyota will want to adapt from BMW !! in the end thank you for the informative materials you always provide for us . grate work as usual 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
This video was very informative and thank you so much as a soon to be Supra MT owner. A MT video on the differences would be greatly appreciated for the near future! Great Video!
Aside from those 3-4 inconveniences this car is a 10/10 amazing experience. Dont cheap out and get your warranties especially since it’s a bmw. Baby it but also let it rip whenever you want(after oil is at proper temp) with confidence (bc you baby it). I love mine, I just picked it up 3 days ago with 3 miles on it. 3.0 premium. If you can, pick the cooled seats in Alcantara. Get all the features if possible because it really gives you more than a sports car feel. The simple luxury details really make for a super cozy experience. A lot to learn especially since it is bmw world if you’re not used to it but as you can see, a lot of this stuff is better handled with the dealership so let them do their thing.
I have noticed that newer cars are eliminating the diy from the picture. I learned so much from your video that I subscribed. Thank you very much!!! And yes I do own (bank till I finish paying for it) a 2022 MK5 CF edition. Love the car and the feeling I get back when driving the Supra. Again, Thank You Frank
Wow, this video was a plethora of awesome knowledge! This changes my view on apt of things with this car being a hybrid between the manufacturers that concerns me now that I know these things. No one ever touches on this info and this is just wild!
Check out Papadakis racing channel. He took apart and modded a b58 as soon as they came out. Great source of information. Really makes you understand this isn't just another BMW.
@@TwinTurboOnly I been following Stephen since the 90’s. Actually met him a few times. I saw that series. This video makes me second guess some of the oddities of this motor. Very stout indeed, but oddities that keep me from buying it.
AMD I'm a retired electro-mechanical tech. I've always said "technology is great until it breaks". This lack of dipstick is insane. How often have you found a dipstick fail? In order to own this vehicle you need more money than brains. I hate to talk so bad about this car but it is what it is.
Didn't he say that you can check the engine oil level on the dash? Why pop the hood when you only need to press a button and you can see it on the dash.
Haven't seen such a detailed review. Awesome work mate. This is BMW inside and out. Which means it will carry the same pain/fun of typical BMW sports car.
Not really letting me feel good, looking forward to my ordern Supra, but I’m still happy about the choice I made and cant wait to get this beauty. And, nice video!
So... -No dipstick. 2021's burn oil. Potential owners will not check level regularly because it is a new car. Engine is starved of oil, could cause bearing failure. I see some owners taking advantage of this for another "free" car/engine. -Intake manifold & intercooler fused together via plastic love. Could crack after many heat cycles near the engine block and cause coolant loss. Coolant loss will make engine overheat. -No thermostat. Instead, a smart valve when out of commission could overheat the engine since this block heats up fast like you said. -Some beginner DIY owners could potentially spill oil onto the ECU when removing oil filter as shown removing ECU cover: 10:34 -Battery replacement/registration coding. ECU confirmation of battery replacement change. -Computer calibration for differential. No more simple drain and fill? -Rear camshaft/timing chain looks like an engine out job. Fun. -Parking pawl crawl human-squirrel death by Supra. -Plastic valve cover. I'll wait for aftermarket to make better parts/solutions. Also, for the depreciation hit. Also, will look for a clueless 1st owner. Just like with the N54. Thank you for the information.
This is more complicated than my brain, and I don’t even smoke weed 🤦🏽♂️ I’m flabbergasted by the fact that you kept that smile on your face while at the same time telling us your pain 😢
I owned a bmw,116i, and it was a real hell, both for maintenance costs and for reliability. Just traded for a Toyota-certified C-HR hybrid. I no longer want to deal with german cars, I prefer to stay in Toyota land. Again thx for another great video.
You right I look at it as more of when it breaks you buy another one from us and you pay out the wazoo and be almost broke cuz trust me I don't think this he have transmissions are cheap and we ain't going to talk about installation and just to buy one alone
Well, sealed for life is one of the least descriptive things I have heard. When it is said life, I'd expect manufacturers to say what do they mean by "life." Is it 60K miles? or is it 10 years? I have heard same for DSG, and a DSG mechanic approves this. And he also adds, "still, change the oil after 60K miles or 6 years, so you can extend lifespan of your gearbox." As he works in Istanbul where city traffic is heavy, a lot of people are having fatal error in their DSG's around 80K miles, which could be avoided by gearbox servicing. I would really wish that manufacturers would give some intervals for people who wants to drive their car for many long miles.
@@alperalp7407 I'm a mechanic myself and I've been working on cars for a long time I wouldn't believe it because all they trying to do is make money at the end of the day that tell a customer that because they know most people don't know about cars fine example when Dodge came out with the caravan it was a crappy car transmission issues but they sold a lot of them through good marketing they trying to make money
Dang... I know it's a 6cylinder but looking at the engine bay in this and then looking at the engine bay in my 2012 Camry 2.5 makes me feel very relieved and happy.
Timing chains in the back, no oil dipstick and complicated cooling systems? Thanks for confirming that my favorite 1990s Japanese superhero car came back as a German villain in disguise.

Its crazy how people hate somuch on this car online but in person damn near eveyday where ever i go people are constantly asking about it and what it is the real life love for this car is crazy. Specially the launch edition
It’s a bmw with a Toyota logo slapped on. So I wouldn’t worry If Toyota made an engine like bmw that had issues long term as well as high maintenance costs, only then would it tarnish Toyota’s reputation, therefore resulting in little reason for Toyota’s existence
Service is not a fluid flush.. we can run DIS and it shows all the diagnostic about the transmission. I’ve seen more problem on older ZF that we had to do the flushes.
Another great video from AMD! I really liked how you goes into details about the pros and cons of the engine and did not shy away from some of the design flaws/reported issues. Do you have any plan to do a video about the 86/BRZ as well? Taking into consideration of different price point and value of the vehicle, do you think Subaru/Toyota design is better than the BMW/Toyota design in general? Love your contents!
Thank you for watching my channel! The 86/FRS/BRZ video is in the list but it’s one I dread because that’s a car that I have extensive experience with and my opinion of it could be hurtful 😀 I’ll get to the video in the future

As a long-time healthcare professional, gathering the appropriate, important and accurate information regarding our clients and patients are of the utmost relevance in treating them. This is the make or brake factor actually. Seeing Ahmed's gestures and facial expressions, as well as certain keywords, helped me decide NOT TO CONTINUE my A90 purchase. I commend him for his efforts not to, or minimize, offending BMW and A90 Supra fans. In reality, the A90 is a good car, as long as it functions properly and if you have extra cash for its maintenance. Reliability in general, is still in question as this is still a relatively new vehicle. But knowing it's BMW, is reason enough to be prepared - in all aspects.
I guess we can say yhe same about the C8 Corvette, also. ....or for any GM, Ford, or Dodge product for that matter. I think a Toyota/Lexus EV sportscar with solid state batteries will be far less complicated and inevitably, far more reliable after 5 years.
You are so open minded. You didnt have problem giving compliments where you see fits even thought it’s not your brand. You also give very fair criticisms where it is due.
This isnt the same B58 found in other BMWs. BMW sent this engine to Toyota and they went thru the whole thing to increase its reliability. They upgraded the bolts and fasteners to stronger variants and made BMW change afew other design aspects to increase reliability. I just hope the changes Toyota made do help long term. I'm considering buying one of these. If the engine failed I would probably swap a 2UR-GSE into it and supercharge it, because V8s sound better. Dont even think Supra purists would be mad cuz they dont consider this a Supra anyway. I just love how light it is and the way it looks. Imagine pulling up in one and seeing the look on everyone's face when you revved it. 🤣🤣🤣
I love this guy: check this out 1)Reset battery not a big problem.. Dealer visits, this is an annoying problem... 2)No dipstick - not a big problem... Tanny dipstick (not available) level gets low.....OK you've got a problem... 5) Low coolant side gets low, no problem OK, no physical intercooler - you've got a big problem... 6) Diagnostic port. This a Toyota, no problem. Oh wait, this a BMW - Oh s--t! Big problem. 7. Needs XXX parts, vast Toyota inventory. No problem. Oh wait, This is a B56. BMW parts hyperexpensive, big problem. 8. Resell value. This is a Toyota. No problem! Oh wait, this is a rebadged BMW. Huge problem....LOL!!!
I am not a big of this vehicle,, I think Toyota should make their own designs. Toyota are great on their own ,,I am a life long toyota fan. On Japanese heritage models. My feelings only. Great job explaining things. Thanks for sharing this video.
Great video as usual. Regarding the lack of a dipstick, my 2005 BMW E46 M3 had one. My 2006 Mercedes W220 S65 AMG did not. It took me a long time to get used to that, and quite frankly, prefer a dipstick over a computerized sensor that can fail. One can only hope that Toyota will actually design, develop, then build a JDM Supra again. In the meantime, the new BMW Supra looks great aesthetically, but a nightmare for us backyard mechanics.
I feel If I had this car it will be like driving a ticking time bomb, What a waste........Regardless, Thanks a lot for such a professional review especially coming from a Toyota Tech.
Thank you AMD for another wonderful video. I find changing timing chain quite expensive in all BMW where chain is on back side of engine, also in this one. Engine needs to go down on chain change. Strange concept.
@@TheCarCareNut I found when hybrid system is cold (engine below 72*C or battery below 20*C) or when speed of car is more than 110km/h, corolla hybrid will not shut down an engine but it will keep engine on 1000 RPM with out fuel injection and it will roll car on the road only by MG2. I'm curious why in that case engine is not stopped. Could you please provide information? Thank you.
Hi! It could be 2 cases. It would either have the engine running to warm it up or have it charging the battery. Try turning off the climate control and see if it shuts off
@@TheCarCareNut no it is not related to battery level or engine temperature when speed is 110km/h+. For example I'm going downhill engine temperature is 92*C, battery is 55%(but real, not one from car diagram), and battery temperature is 35*C, engine RPM will not drop below 1000 until speed drop below 110km/h, while car is moved only by MG2. Below 110km/h engine will be shut off. I know that is max speed of MG2 and MG1 17000RPM. On 110km/h will not overrev because they rotate around 11k. It is strange to me. Android app used to read data play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=priusfan.info.bthsd10
Ok now I get it. So at higher speeds the engine running will be used in the planetary gear as a reduction to basically simulate an overdrive so it can handle higher speeds.
Thanks for the heads up on this car. This video alone made me re-think buying one. Not interested in engineering for the sake of it and making DIY life a PITA. I have owned one BMW E46 and it was a nightmare from day 1 after I brought it home, left me stranded on a hwy in NJ and BMW told me they couldn't help even thought the car had less than 1000 miles on it because it was a state road. On top of that it ate through 3 power steering pumps, a cam shaft sensor, all 4 window motors broke, it constantly leaked fluids everywhere. Never again I told myself. When I see a BMW all I can think of is sucker. The don't call them "Bring My Wallet" for nothing. Only 2 aftermarket companies that makes parts for them as well. $800.00 for a power steering pump.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Subscribed! Interesting BMW quirks for sure, but seems like a really cool car just a pain to maintain yourself. Would be interesting to find out if they make improvements based on the master tech’s suggestions moving forward.
Great video. I love the looks of the new Supra, but I don't care for the "Axis" colaboration on the build of this car. Question for you, if you have the time. I just filled up my two week old 2021 RAV4 XLE Premium and there was a stong odor of gas in the cab. I did not over fill, shut off at the first click on the pump hose. This is the third time I filled it and never noticed any gas smell before. Any educated guesses?
I understand the disappointment from Toyota/Supra enthusiasts. However, it's better that it exists. A BMW Supra is better than no Supra. It's too expensive for most people. What about a Celica co-made by Mazda.
Mazda have some great cars at the moment. The Mazda 3 is a great car, better than a Golf, Audi or Mercedes A Class or BMW 3 series for reliability and simplicity and price.
I agree, bmw Supra is better than no Supra. Plus bmw still make great cars. At least Toyota didn’t team up with a company like Hyundai haha bmw is actually legit.
Everyone loves calling the MK5 Supra "BMW Supra". Yet don't ever mention other Supras , like the Mark 2, was half built by Lotus. Should we start callin' those "Lotus Supras"? Along with the Mark 4s and 3s bein' called "Yamaha Supras"?
The pure capitalistic Germans have penetrated the over refined industrialized Japanese. Selling excitement and performance with a little (or a lot) less reliability is more profitable Per. car than selling just reliability. Having a 4.5 star rating while selling millions more parts is madly more profitable than having a 5.0 star rating and barely selling anything except maintenance for the first 100k miles of the life of a car.
Well with the new 400Z coming out they may one to rethink about the manual tranny. Yeah its a little scary having to get under it to mess with the parking break and that battery reprogramming if your in another town and the battery goes bad I don't think you can use one from a auto parts store. Bet that battery cost bucks.

Give it beyond 60k. It'll be your typical Bimmer. Broke down and nothing but issues after that and will be on Facebook market place for $1500 like the rest of broke down Bimmers
I was contemplating a 2020 over the 2021, but honestly your insight has me wanting to keep 40-50k elsewhere. This car seems like it's gonna go belly up someday after warranties expire, in true bmw fashion. Damn shame, it's a cool car but toyota should have stuck to their roots. They're gonna lose a ton of sales with this issue on the 2021 going forward and once the 400z is out, they may as well kiss the supra goodbye

The rear timings chains remind me of Ford Exploders from the early 2000's, they had gears and chains for ONE bank on the front of engine and another set of gears and chains on the BACK of the engine. So I guess Ford one-up'd BMW in the insanity department :D. That "always-on" parking prawl sounds like a PIA for techs...if the engine doesn't run, you can't throw it in neutral and push it around. Also note BMW hasn't caught up with Toyota in fuel injection, this only has DI meaning carbon build up will probably become an issue (vs 'real' Toyota's that have old school manifold fuel injection too for this very reason). Thanks for a super interesting video! I wanna drive one now, but maybe not maintain or repair it!
Liked and subscribed! 🎉 I totally and completely understand why Toyota chose this route for the Supra. It really is a niche market, probably taking up less than 2% of Toyota's annual income. Toyota was able to make the Yaris GR by themselves, because to other regions, it was just another version of the plain old Yaris, albeit a very punchy one. The US-market Yaris is actually just a rebadged Mazda 2. If Toyota wanted the US to have the Yaris GR, then they would have to sever their partnership with Mazda, which they won't. There are also rumors of Toyota and Mazda co-developing an RWD inline 6 platform, which I could definitely see the A100 Supra riding on. Toyota's strategy is that if the car they want to make doesn't fit into their existing TGNA platforms, then they will seek partnership with another brand. And it's a very smart one too. I'm pretty sure this plan is working out well. I mean, just look at the new Corolla, Camry, Sienna, and a whole bunch of other Toyota vehicles! They are still solid and durable vehicles, with that signature Toyota reliability baked into them. Some of them are even luxurious!
FYI, The Mazda Yaris is no longer sold. Toyota simply made a massive PR blunder when they insulted their most profitable market with their refusal to offer us the GR Yaris. It is the best affordable performance car they have made in a generation. As Toyota's best customers, we should be first in line to get them not left behind casting envious glances towards secondary markets like Europe and Australia. Honda, Hyundai and VW can all make a business case to offer their best hot hatches in North America, why shouldn't Toyota?
"I was chosen to be the supra specialist," drew the short straw? Oil consumption problems, and no dipstick. 2AZ all over again? Hope warranty time doesn't stiff ya. I feel for you bro.

@@TheCarCareNut On the plus side, the small incremental changes that toyota makes to their cars is also an advantage for the technicians to master their craft.
Well Amd, you're going to have a lot of fun, if you search around on you tube, you'll find that bmw had a lot problems with their timing chains failing very early, this happened in europe with their diesel engines, and yes, the chains were at the back of the engine. Is there any reason why bmw makes everything so difficult, is it cultural thing?
It will be fun to replace a Chain on a Supra for sure 😀 don’t know what’s the deal with bmw and their designs. They can make a fine driving car for sure but can’t make a car that’s reasonable to service

Cool! Thank you.
Are you a BMW mechanic? I am considering buying a Supra and drive it until combustion engines are banned in UK. So, would you say that B58, when I drive with care is a good choice in terms of longevity?
Is there any video or articles that you can recommend about what to do and what not do driving a B58 engine.
It's most definitely not a modified EU diesel 🤣
@alper alp move to America and enjoy your v8s while they last then when you're ready to retire into a boring daily go back and get you an ev
Here we are - Toyota got a really nice Supra without the horrible development costs and BMW gets its first full Hydrogen car (iX5) with the Mirai tech.
very interesting
Loved the comment "ultimate driving machine when it runs" !
;-)
A freind made that exact comment about a decade ago--he owned an M3 at the time.
I was contemplating getting one of these but after watching this now i'm having second thoughts. Appreciate your honest review dude. 👍

Just got a 2020 supra 3.0! Really dope and informative video, thank you!
-Some beginner DIY owners could potentially spill oil onto the ECU when removing oil filter as shown removing ECU cover: 10:34
-Battery replacement/registration coding.

Toyota didn't want to redesign a I6 for a car in this relatively low sales segment when BMW has been making an I6 for many years now...
Toyota couldn't make a new Inline 6 from 0.
And if they built the Supra all by themselves, it would had a higher sale price .
Then why bother? 🤷🏾♂️
Mazda is making an inline 6 and Mazda is smaller THAN TOYOTA
I owned a bmw,116i, and it was a real hell, both for maintenance costs and for reliability. Just traded for a Toyota-certified C-HR hybrid. I no longer want to deal with german cars, I prefer to stay in Toyota land. Again thx for another great video.
When I hear "Transmission Sealed For Life"...I think "Only The Good Die Young"🤣

Doesn’t Toyota use plastic components in their engine too?
Yes they do and more than you think. Some of them fail some are holding on well.
@@Gmansour1971 Plus, most BMWs are leased so why would they worry about reliability after 100K or so?

@@godofdestructiondiecast6756 if you are talking yourself out of this car then you are gonna miss out. The Z is nice but definitely not my preference. The Supra really is an amazing car and well built regardless of the parts used. I absolutely don't regret buying it at all. I have never been a BMW fan but Toyota did require the parts to go through rigorous quality control testing before accepting any of the parts from what I have learned. I haven't had any issues whatsoever and neither has anyone else I know of who has it. It's pretty darn solid. Will it last 200-300k? Who knows. Only time will tell. I personally would never buy a car like this to rack up that kind of mileage anyways. Either way you decide to go I hope you will enjoy it.
@@jakeatkinson901 it's a nice sports car but it's not a Toyota product it's a BMW if they could have made a manual transmission and stop being lazy and did something else do all the this car is a BMW not a Toyota
@@godofdestructiondiecast6756 I think you gotta do your research buddy. It's more of a toyora product then you think. And I love manual and I almost let that stop me from buying it but honestly the 8 speed is one hell of a transmission and I am actually happy to have it. Question for you man: Do you own one? Doesn't seem like you know enough about it to actually be an owner of one.
Engine bay looks like a nightmare. I can already imagine taking 4-5 things that would take hours just to reach and service something simple.
If you ever get a chance to drive one you’ll have a hard time not wanting one. You’ll remember me when you do drive one
Thanks for talking me out of buying a Supra.
Very in-depth video, great job!
Awesome video, love your sign off remarks
God bless you too 🇺🇸
Also I should add your insight is of primo value
Like the LC500 and 500h!
I have had a wrx gti and s6. Turbo motors burn oil. They just do. 1 quart between oil changes is fine.
"I was chosen to be the supra specialist," drew the short straw?
Oil consumption problems, and no dipstick. 2AZ all over again?
Hope warranty time doesn't stiff ya. I feel for you bro.
I actually volunteered for it 😀. Same for the FRS/86 Mazda and the Prime cars. You never stop learning and working at a dealership you’re stuck with one brand with no room to learn other makes but this is my chance
@@TheCarCareNut On the plus side, the small incremental changes that toyota makes to their cars is also an advantage for the technicians to master their craft.
I was thinking of selling my SS 1LE for the MT Supra that is releasing soon. The LT1 is very DYI friendly, might just keep her!
There's a lot of noise about the Supra not being a Toyota but a BMW.
My thoughts are, Who wouldn't want a BMW with a Toyota warranty ?!? That's a dream come true! LOL
Solid video! Looking at the Supra for my next daily. The low oil issue is a bit worrisome when buying used. Did the last owner keep an eye on it?
They say never buy a used bmw
The b58 (supra engine) doesn't consume oil
Thank you. Honest review.
Would you one day make a video about epic and legendary 2JZ engine mk4 Supra? I mean the real Toyota Supra :D
I would! When I get one around I will
@@TheCarCareNut Looking forward! :D
Ur awesome AMD! Too steep for my blood anyway. U like BMW's so ur dealership is good shape! Very interesting video as usual!
Wow! That's one Toyota I won't be buying. I cannot see how a company known for dependability and reliability would actually put their name on something as complex and bound to be costly to maintain as this car.
