Great video!! Any concern with killing the battery since the cam is always on? I don't drive everyday and the truck has sat for up to a week sometimes. I'd hate to drain the battery.
I'm debating on wiring my cam to an upfitter switch or doing like you did in the video.
Haven’t had a problem yet. And my truck sits 5-7 days at a time now since March. I can take the company truck back and forth to work now and I don’t hardly ever start mine during the week anymore. I've watched several of your videos and enjoy your channel. Just watched this one because I want to hang my radar detector under the mirror and was investigating power options on my 2017 F250 Lariat. This answered some of my questions and when I saw the kick panel removed, I had to ask (not a bash): Instead of running power using the pass-through wires, did you consider using a fuse tap connector and piggy-back one of the full time power on one of the existing fuse circuits? Could have saved some time and hassle, instead of running all the way to the battery. :-)
Yea I should of prob looking into that a little more. Prob would take me awhile to find one that stays hot all the time….but deff would be faster if I found one. Thanks for watching brother, I appreciate it. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

How does that camera do at night? Would it be good in the dark for a security camera in the truck
It’s got night vision on it. I hit that tree at night and went back and looked and the video was nice. It does have a security thing when someone walks by or the truck is hit or moved it starts recording.

Anytime brother. Been meaning to ask. I'm on the fence with Road Armor vs other brands. Always had Ranch Hand bumpers. Really close to pulling trigger. Just wanted your honest opinion on would you buy them again if you changed trucks. Watch your videos and just appreciate you getting the accessories done even when things get in the way. J.R. Martinez I have only had it for about 2-3 months but so far I don’t have one complaint. I really like ranch hand as well, when I see one I just think damn that’s a MANS truck...not that I don’t like mine because I really love it, just to me seems a little more like Kid...don’t really know if I said that right. But they both look great. I will tell you the main factor for me buying these road armors was because I had been looking for bumpers for 2 years, then this Covid crap hit and I was scrolling online and saw that road armor had a 50% off sale with the code family first at checkout. So I literally thought it was fake, but I put what I wanted in the cart and type the code in and the price went from $4200 shipped to my door to $2200. So I couldn’t pass up the deal! If price wasn’t a issue I might have went ranch hand because I love the work look. But the deal I got was to good to pass up and actually gave me the extra cash to get the Warn 16.5 vs the 12,000. Thanks for your input. I also thought it was fake but I was on phone with them Friday and they hinted sale was coming. I live out in the country in NC and deer are an issue everywhere. Was only struggling with losing my tow hooks but figured shackles replace them. You keep it down to to earth and don't b.s. Placing my order. Thanks again my new friend.
Is there an inline fuse from the battery to the camera?
petercallinicos yes there is. It was in the section that I took off the side of the vent where it’s all wrapped up and zip tied inside. If you click on the video description you will see a hardwire kit. That’s the one I used for camera. It came with a mini fuse. But you could add your own if you didn’t get the hardwire kit. 🇺🇸. Yea I don’t know of Any fuses that stay hot all the time with key off. But if you don’t want your camera on even when trucks off and parked them yea fuse box is great. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Just buy a fuse tap and tap into the kick panel's fuse assembly, much easier than fooling with the pass-through, saves time too.
Great video. Thought I’d chime in on the phone charger wiring. However, I’ll stat by saying I’m not an expert and am sharing my ideas. I thought there were upfitter switch wires ( just like there are under the hood) under the dash near the steering column. Y didn’t you power that charger there? Seem to me it would look cleaner and you could decide when to power it with a switch. Also if your not aware of Forscan you can program (as can a ford service Center) that 12v outlet to be hot all the time. Keep them videos coming.
Thanks for the comment! I think there were wires on steering colum on the previous model super duty. I am not sure if there are on this one, I’ll have to look. The only reason I went straight to the battery is because I wanted to keep it hot all the time and was worried if I had it on a upfitter I would forget to turn it on one day, plus this camera has a parking mode so i want it always hot. And i have used forscan and actually did that mode to make the outlet hot all the time. Just didn’t want any wires on the dash or anything. The only part of the wire you can see now is about 2.5 inches coming out of headrest before it gets to the camera. COLTS WAY thought that I’d read in the manual or on the FTE forum that these same pigtail wires were under the dash so a person could wire any indoor devices such as dash cam to the upfitter switch and the outside pigtails were for light bars etc; on the outside. The pass-thru where for anything you didn’t necessarily want on a switch, such as your dash cam.

Yes In some of my other videos I show that fuse box. In my high idle video I’ve got it taken apart. But I wanted to go to battery to keep hot all the time. My camera records 24/7 on a loop. SO, you did not use the fuse connectors that came with the hardwire package? You just went directly to the battery with the passthru wires. Is that correct?
I did use the fuse connection, but on the video it wasn’t seen. It was all wrapped up in that door side vent. The wires were all zip tied in there and on the video it wasn’t shown. Wish I could go back and show that. But I have hooked things straight up before. Usually there is a fuse built in most electronics. Please like and sub to the channel. Thanks for watching! 🇺🇸

Hey man, I used the lower slot I’m almost positive. Before you button everything up just make sure it works and you will be good. It was 2 years ago and the kit might have changed because the pics in the link are updated. But it’s still the same one I bought so should be fine with the lower.
Any worry about running down the truck battery? Sometimes my truck sits for 3 or 4 days without running.
I haven’t had it run down yet. And mine has sat for over a week before. So far so good! 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Yea it sure is. But if you were worried about draining the truck batter just instead of hooking straight to battery like I did, just run it to a upfitter. That way when you turn the truck off the camera will turn off as well. So just go from upfitter to pass threw wire. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Great video bro! The pass thru wires on the 2020 are shorter than an Irishman’s cock in cold weather. I ran my hot wire thru the emergency brake cable grommet. Hard to believe Ford could f it up that bad!
