    I would turn it 180 degrees and install closer to speaker, this way I could still use the space in the tray underneath it.

    I installed this on my 2016 F150 to mount a small CB/Ham radio on. It was easy and worked very well. Then I had to have a 2018 F150....I hope to install it again soon. Procrastination pays off right now. Great product!!

    Maybe it's just me but I haven't seen any QUALITY videos about getting mods like these for older heavy duty pickups. Most that I find just skip the installation. It's good there's people like you that make these videos with a high level of quality

    I believe I would have used 3M VHB two sided tape. There are different strengths to choose from and it would also provide vibration dampening. They use it to mount panels on buildings so I'm sure it would hold that and you wouldn't have to take stuff apart. Just use something like acetone to clean the surface before adhering. Hold it in place for a few seconds and you are good to go

    • @estried86
      @estried86 6 років тому +2

      I love 3M VHB tape! I used it to secure my flexible solar panels to the roof of my trailer so I wouldn't have to drill any holes.

    • @southsidebaynuts
      @southsidebaynuts 2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. If and when it fails scrape off the old tape and repeat. But..... 3M won't fail. Removing those panels there's sure to be alot of guys that don't have the feel and will scratch, mar or break tabs

    Ordered the Rear Seat Release, best purchase I did interior wise. So much easier to get behind the seat. Extremely well built, and best of all made here! Thank You for the cinnamon candy as well. Highly recommend for anyone who owns a 150.

  • @wildwestunlimited

    Ya, that's really good because here in Arizona, that little dash pocket is TOTALLY useless, unless you want a "puddle" of whatever you put in there. I was thinking of a good phone mount that hangs over the front a bit. There's probably a million applications this can be used with. I'll keep this in mind if I have a need to mount something there. Nice vid and you did it all using only ONE hand!! :-)

    What i did was; removed the little rubber mat, replaced it with a thin metal plate (epoxy). home depo has them in the deck section and the one I got (forgot the size) fits perfectly. I only had to round off the corners. Then got a piece of some carbon fiber looking car wrap to cover it an making it look nice. Then got a phone holder with the telescoping arm and swap the suction cup for a round magnet. Have had it for over a year and works perfectly. And the whole set up cost less than $ 30.00 including the phone holder.

    It appears to me there might be enough room under that center piece to also install a cig lighter plug. Something Ford should have done in the first place. Sure would be nice to have that or, a USB port for using this mount, then a cell phone magnetic mount and not have a cord going down the center stack to the plugs there. The question then would be, how difficult would it be to run wiring for such a plug. Do you think a cig lighter plug would fit underneath in the valley of that center piece?

    You could easily add another flat magnet under the rack to strengthen the grip of your little monitor if needed. Secondly $50 is a ridiculous price for a piece of metal. IMHO. Before you told us the price I was all over getting one. You could also use a bean bag mount ala Garmin I think and just flop in the tray. They’re overpriced too but not to the degree of this product. Again IMHO.

    • @elmagicocustoms
      @elmagicocustoms 6 років тому +6

      I really don't think that $50 for this product is that bad. Taken into account 4 or 5 shop operations, Laser cutting, press brake, debur, powdercoat, and kitting. Not to mention the amortization of the design process along the way. Plus, since these only fit Raptors and 17-18' Super Duties, 50 bucks is chump change, when the rig is 70 to 90K!

    I am getting ready to install one of these, but I wonder - wouldn't it be easier to install it with the rack surface away from you, toward the front, basically turn it 180 degrees? That way, mounting/unmounting things, you don't have to try to reach behind and under to tighten them?

    I would've just used the 3M Double sided foam tape that has the red backing. No disassembly or drilling need. To remove the mount, use waxed dental floss to cut through the mounting tape. BTW the tray in the console, to the left of the cup holders. My Garage door opener is below the rubber pad. I used a spacer cut from plexiglass and the double faced tape to mount it. I put the rubber pad back in. Now my opener is out of sight, but readily available, with a push on the rubber pad.

    Thank you. I am looking to buy an F-250/350 in the near future, and being a Ham Radio Operator, I am looking for ways to mount, not just one, but two or three radios in the cockpit. The 2 Ham radios I have include remote control head mounting options, with the main body of the radio tucked away somewhere, like under the seat. Unfortunately, no such convenience for my CB radio. This bracket is a nice option for at least one radio, but do you have any suggestions for other mounting options? TIA.

    what type of mount did you use for the monitor. i have a similar set up with my 5th wheel. I bought this dash mount, just having a little difficulty finding the right mounting hardware for the monitor. i have a Furion RV camera and monitor, roughly 3"x 6" for the monitor. thanks! Great videos!

      Check into Ram Mounts. They aren't cheap, but they look like solid quality.

    Neat mount. Off topic of the video. What kind of mileage are you getting with the f450 not while towing? I'm looking at an 2018, that is a good deal. I have a 2019 350 SRW on order but the fire in Eaton River, MI. Is almost certainly going to delay my delivery date til sometime into October. I know the 3.55 in the order truck will net better mileage, but how much worse is the 4.30? You seem like you drive conservatively. I'm in Canada and will not venture much north or 65 mph ever.
    Thanks.

    Love seeing the comments from owners of a $50K+ truck complaining about 50 bucks for a nice looking/well engineered product. 😅

    So, what did you mount on that "BuiltRight" mount. I don't see a video as a follow up...you did mention it ???? (Or I just don't see the link")

    , does anyone know why there is a speaker in the center of the dash?
    I know that nobody uses mono speakers anymore so is this a ( center ) channel speaker ?
    if so, time for an upgrade while you have your dash torn apart.

      I would imagine some sheet steel and a little bending, a’ la a bench vice and a hammer, and you will be able to fabricate your own. That’s what I’m planning on mocking up for my RAM this weekend. Just be careful of what’s underneath. Easier to do in aluminum if you don’t need it to be magnetic.
