Hey, "Strange Little Birds" came out in 2016. :-) But it's more difficult to find, you can't just turn on the radio and expect them to play special music. - Although I don't think all hope is lost, if you look at the rocket success of Billie Eilish of the last 3 years, compared to the music of the likes of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran (who are both good musicians but have not really done anything new compared to the music trends that dominated the 00s and 10s (and honestly in an unrefined form much of the 90s, already, I mean Spice Girls? Take That? 90s!)) she has really introduced a lot of new takes on music (or at least new takes on elements, that were not popular for a while)

She was a great role model for young teen girls in the 90s. I remember feeling so ugly, and thinking she was so beautiful. I got compared to her a few times though I still mostly think it was the hair and the fact that I really tried to dress like her and do similar makeup. I saw an interview with her and she talked about always feeling ugly growing up. She was so candid and humble about her very human insecurities around not being pretty enough, or good enough, but still going for her goals. She also mentioned how Siouxsie and the Banshees helped her with her insecurities, just like how Garbage did for me. It made me realize that even the most attractive people have insecurities, and everyone’s minds occasionally lie to them, but it doesn’t make it true. At least now when I feel ugly, I take it with a grain of salt, because nobody feels hot every single day. Shirley, you are still amazing, and an inspiration to so many women who found your music in our younger days. I hope you know that! 90s were the last decade to do music right. Take this song for example. Everything fits. Bass player gets his credit, guitars drums and synth are perfect, and Shirley is flawless. Production and mixing was amazing for back then
I know how you feel. For me, and I'm sure a large percentage of us here and listening to the song, wish could go back in time and relive the 90s and earlier again, especially when music was actually really good.
Oh man does it ever for this ole Canadian guy now living in Shanghai. Shirley is just such a special person and talent. Lyrics here really do cut hard and deep as you say.

I remember watching this music video back in the day, like 14 yo or so. Still sounds fucking great.
Such a very special song. Can listen to it over and over and over and over again which is what I am doing now. May all the gods bless Shirley forever and beyond that too. Nice shout out to Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders at the end too. 'You were the talk of the town, you were the talk of the town....'
90s were the last decade to do music right. Take this song for example. Everything fits. Bass player gets his credit, guitars drums and synth are perfect, and Shirley is flawless. Production and mixing was amazing for back then
Amazing for any time!
Great music video, back from when MTV used to play actual music...
Yeah ikr? Whatever happened to MTV? Certainly not the same anymore.😏
Cynthia Moraes I miss MTV from 90’s.
WOW.....How did I forget this song?
I miss those days when you would turn on your tv and this was a common video playing on mtv 🤔😭🤗🤗🤗those where the days
I know how you feel. For me, and I'm sure a large percentage of us here and listening to the song, wish could go back in time and relive the 90s and earlier again, especially when music was actually really good.
Yes they were, amazing time.
She sounds so Chrissie Hynde at the end ... love it. Love Shirley, who has never looked lovelier. Love Garbage.
I miss Garbage so badly. The 90s ought to be a golden age here...
Garbage is better than the credit they get and Shirley is a legend.
Living Legend thank you.
@@franko69 YES. I agree. Garbage still makes great new albums and they are still out touring, not just "a 90s band"
This song hits hard and deep
Uh huh huh huh huh
🤭
Oh man does it ever for this ole Canadian guy now living in Shanghai. Shirley is just such a special person and talent. Lyrics here really do cut hard and deep as you say.
Goddamn it does
Being a 90s kid I often wish I could go back and experience what I missed out on. This sounds nostalgic and yet never knew Garbage back then.
? It was everywhere, you would see music videos, at the gym, hot topic, stores etc.
Be blessed
If you were a fan of Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins, you would have known this band. I’ll leave it to you to figure out why. Back then, you’d have to find the right magazines, books of friends. These days,…you already know.
@@theultrawarrior7448 I was a little kid 5 to 9 years old when Garbage was around back then. I wouldn't have paid any attention since the only exposure I had was pop music or whatever my mother had on the radio
@@joshuahernandez3216 True, but when I was little at the time things were less accessible to me and didn't have much exposure to a lot of those bands. The only earliest band I can remember was Alice In Chains, just one song played in Street Fighter II Animated Movie back in '94, but that's all I can remember. I was still in preschool at the time.
I was a youngster too. I remember music back since I was 2-3 years old.
I still have a crush on her.
Robert Tyrrell you too?? She is still hot!!
Is she your #1 Crush?
Robert Tyrrell Shirley could sing the phone book to me, and I’d be in HEAVEN!!! ❤️❤️
I do too, same as Louise Redknapp
Total babe. I married a redhead after my crush on her.
Gosh. Missing this.
Well I think it's even better than when it came out, like some fine wine !
I've been looking for this song for a long time!
I used to listen to this song with my former best friend. Now that she is out of life, this song hits differently with a new meaning. Some things in life aren’t just meant to be and getting rid of some people is just a part of life in order to be happy.
Couldn't agree more! 💯
90's music is fantastic.
I'm 64, and I still dig this song, the ultimate kiss off song.
Garbage had incredible tunes.
I forgot how much I loved this song.
Sooooo Good.
This song is, for some reason, a perfect picture of the late 90s for me...
Exactly, it's a perfect représentation of the end of 20th century
The little nod to the Pretenders at the end is my favorite part!
you caught that too? Glad I'm not the only one, I thought I was going crazy for a moment! haha
3:10 The way Steve’s plane crashes at the exact same time as the song climaxes
*Chefs kiss*
Go Shirley!! Way back when I had the cassette I used to play this song and blast it up in my Monte Carlo!
ive been listening to this song on repeat for the last 4 days....
57 and still listening, just brilliant music ❤
60 and still love it!
This is my favorite song 💖, I love you Shirley 💟 my heart is stuck in 2.0
Greats Memories Greats Moments Great Music ❤🎶♪🎸 90s the Best music
Shirley is still a flawless goddess and I'm glad she and the boys are still making music
Still a beautiful song! Listening in 2017,
Still listening in 2019.🙂
Tracey Henderson
same xD
Same in 2022.
Oh, 5 years already passed? Too fast.
@@alexlesniq3492 Still loving it in 2022. It is timeless, will still be listened to with fondness and love in 3022.
