One of the best moments of my gig-going life was with this band. I was at the famous Scorpions gig at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin in 1999, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall. During this song many many denim and leather clad hairy-arsed heavy rock fans, many of whom were former East Germans, were openly crying and hugging one another "like brothers" - me included. At that moment we felt we could change the world and that we really are all just one people. God, I wish we could all that feel like that again today, the world really needs it.

I just learned this song about 3 weeks ago, (the rhythm guitar part). My fiance lives in Ukraine. I had heard this song a 100 times but never really listened to the words or thought about it. I mostly listen to the sounds. Anyway, so when I was learning the words to sing it, it occurred to me, this HAS to be about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Sure enough, I looked it up and that is what its is about. I thought about that speech that President Reagan made at the Brandenburg gate.. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." And I got very emotional. It meant something to me. I didn't even realize how the song had become an anthem throughout Eastern Europe for freedom, especially economic freedom, freedom from the chains of socialism. I guess that is why my fiance Elena likes it so much. I always liked it but now is one of my favorite songs.

This song says it all. the Wind of Change. To me listening to this song for all these years always gets me. Every time. And just think of the countries who are divided instead of United. Here in the states we kind of lucky. We're united, but not quite fully united. And as they say in the song. Brothers. I guess what I'm trying to say is, why can't we continue to live United. That's what America is all about. Many colors and many cultures living united. As this country is called UNITED States of America. We done it before, so lets do it again. living in unity, and help teach the other countries to do the same. Let's rock this world in a good way with alot of positivity.

This single by the Scorpions in 1990 captured a moment of hope for the future from a real experience... The Scorpions had a long journey from being a local rock band in Hannover, West Germany in 1965 to a global success in the 80's... 'Wind of change' was inspired by the band playing concerts in Russia for the first time in 1988 - 1989 (the U.S.S.R. banned rock music and the Beatles in the Sixties) and this was just about 50 years after the German nazis invaded Russia and killed 27 million Russians in World War II...
For a German rock band like the Scorpions to win over Russian music fans after their grandparents' generation had raged war & committed atrocities against Russia was nothing short of a miracle... Klaus Meine (lead singer) had said the power of music brought people together... and after he wrote the song, East & West Germany reunited as 1 country in 1990 after being separated for over 40 years.

The lead singer name is Mr. Klaus Maine he is one of the best voice of the rock music industry. His voice can touch any soul because he puts his emotions and feeling in each of the songs he sings. All of their songs are awesome, but i recommend fallow your heart, believe in love, the rhythm of love, always somewhere, humanity, eye of the storm, the good die young ft with Tarja , we built this house, and the most recent one is "sign of Hope". Scorpions for ever one of my favorite rock bands.

i was a kid in west germany back in the 80s. half my family lived in east germany and i remember like yesterday how it felt to visit them. hours of waiting at the border, vigurous car inspections by the border military, driving to the local police presidium to register followed by at least another hour of waiting for documents (for a simple matter that usually would take 5 minutes) and then finally drive to my families place. the east germans weren't allowed to travel to germany with their kids, to reduce the risk of them fleeing to the west. so we mostly traveled to them. it was such a great moment when the berlin wall fell and all the borders opened. random people meeting in that moment just behind the border in west germany and people celebrating together.
