Singer Joey Tempest has written and still writes almost all of Europe's songs. He wrote and composed "The Final Countdown" when he was only 16 inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity"!

@@khotunkhan3950 No, he was 23 here! He invented the riff using an old borrowed keyboard ... and then he dumped it in a drawer, pulling it out only a few years later, writing the lyrics on it!

Yes this should be your themesong! I`m from Sweden, at the millenium shift, new years eve 1999, Europe perfomed "Final Countdown" on an island in the middle of Stockholm right before midnight. Millions of people were watching from across the water. It was the most epic countdown ever!!
The water carried the sound all over the city. We were standing by Mosebacke, a view over all Stockholm, a wagon filled with champagne and just singing along. The whole population out, friends all around you. One of those nights that are pure glorious magic.
I WISH I'dve been there that night....this Canadian would've just lost my absolute mind to being there. My boots would've been empty, because I would have been blown out of them, jumping 20 feet in the air with EVERY beat from Ian's drums. The band probably would've seen me, and I would have just kept going anyway! XD

I saw them live when I was 14. They were supporting Bon Jovi at the Milton Keynes bowl in the UK. The line up was Skid Row (their 1st ever European gig), Vixen, Europe & Bon Jovi.
I would have gone just for Vixen.

They are talking about that keyboard instrumental where Rocky and Ivan Drago was fighting in Rocky 4. It sounds very simular to The final countdown.

haha i was about 3 years old when this song came out. i loved it soooo much! after that they released "carrie" and i always started to cry hearing it. i gave the adults around me a really hard time with europe. my family is teasing me about it to this day (i turn 40 this year). such incredible memories, i love it!
