Scorpions is a German band. The fall of the Soviet Union (symbolically beginning with the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany…and thus reuniting Germany) was a huge deal for the world but also excessively personal to a German band (and citizens of Germany) of the time!

They were such an iconic band back in the day. Still listen to them to this day. You NEED to dive deeper into the scorpions. The fall of the Berlin wall was huge news. I remember this was the talk of the table during Thanksgiving with the family. It's was huge mainly because our family (both sides) are Eastern European. We have German, Austrian, Polish and Russian heritage. The Bober side fled Russia inim 1886. Dont know the reason why, the last member of our family that spoke Russian never talked about it. She died a few years after the fall of the soviet union.

Great reaction guys! Not going to lie, this song always gets my eyes misty. It came at a time of tremendous change in Europe. The Soviet Union was collapsing, the Berlin Wall was coming down, families that had been torn apart by separation due to the Iron Curtain were being reunited...it was a very emotional time. This song became an anthem for this change, and the Scorpions being a German band, it was a poignant statement from a group that experienced that separation and understood the power of the moment.
I'd love for you to do more Scorpions - The Zoo, Rock You Like A Hurricane, Still Loving You (their BEST power ballad, IMHO), No One Like You, The Sails Of Charon...all for starters. Cheers! And lets keep hoping that wind of change keeps blowing for the better of all!!

The Wall that separated East and West Germany (did you know they were 2 separate countries?Think North and South Korea with less weaponry) was put up in 1961 and came down the end of 1989.

I was in Berlin with my father shortly after the wall came down. It was an extremely enotional experience. He had been stationed in Germany with one of the artilery batteries who were supposed to hold against a Soviet incursion. He and the men under his command were never expected to surivive if the Soviets ever attacked. 100% casualties were considered acceptable to hold the Soviets back long enough to move troops into place. Walking through the market that sprung up where the wall used to be was a victory for him and it was like watching a weight he had carried for so long that he had forgotten he was carrying it, was finally lifted.

Huge anthem here in Germany and part of our history. A huge wall ("dt. "Die Mauer"), splitting Germany in East- and West-Germany after WWII was torn down, so both countries were reunifacted. That's kind the "soundtrack" to this event! That's why the capital of Germany is "Berlin" again. As the country was splitted, the capital of West-Germany was "Bonn". If you watch the live version (Live At Hellfest, 20.06.2015) you'll see the audience in tears and crying! Litterally! Worth to watch the live version..! A song about hope, freedom and a better future never gets old or boring! *peace

The Scorpions are a German band originally from the west or the unoccupied part of Germany post WW2 pre-Soviet Union collapse or reuionifacation of Germany. They were also known for their concert in Red Square in 1980’s in Moscow where they played with several bands from the west and the Soviet Union to promote world peace.Their typically Hard Rock or Heavy Metal. This was a tribute to the collapse the Soviet Union and communism in Russia along with the removal of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany.

November 9, 1989. I was a 23 year old infantryman in the Canadian Armed Forces, never knowing if that IT would come; the call that every soldier dreads, but is committed to answer. The world was NOT in a great place, but that day stood out for many of us as it signaled the end of an era; the fall of the Berlin Wall and the (supposed) end of the cold war. This was a song for peace obtained (albeit not a permanent peace, unfortunately). I'm 60 now, and this song is now part of the past, but I still cannot hear it and not have a tear well up; both for the feeling of relief at the time, and for the sadness now at where we find ourselves.

Their first concert in the US was in my hometown of Cleveland Ohio in 1980. They were one of the bands who pioneered the power ballad. But for the most part, they are a hard rock band. Scorpions are a German rock band formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker.[3] Since the band's inception, its musical style has ranged from hard rock to heavy metal to soft rock. The lineup from 1978 to 1992 was the most successful incarnation of the group, and included Klaus Meine (vocals), Rudolf Schenker (rhythm guitar), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums). The band's only continuous member has been Schenker, although Meine has appeared on all of Scorpions' studio albums, while Jabs has been a consistent member since 1978, and bassist Paweł Mąciwoda and drummer Mikkey Dee have been in the band since 2003 and 2016 respectively. Most of their hit songs are from late 70's to early to mid 80's.

Been watching you guys for years. Enjoy your reactions, analysis, and breakdowns.
I really don't interact much with youtube or social media, but since you finally got around to doing scorpions, I figured I'd log in and give a subscribe.
    Thanks for your work.

If you two do already know a Scorpion’s song it would most likely be “Rock You Like a Hurricane”. It’s played a lot at sports games still to this day. Awesome reaction🤘🏼

Again a history lesson in a song (or video as this was). Every single thing they showed in this 'world events' video was big news because we didn't have 24/7 news channels back then and it was just that hard hitting around the world . They were at the Moscow Music Peace Festival on 13 August 1989, at Lenin Stadium. That's when Klaus Meine realized things were changing.
Klaus' voice is really beautiful, I love hearing acoustic versions from them. I would guess though as soon as one of you read that The Scorpions did Rock You Like A Hurricane you'd heard of it, even if you haven't actually heard the song.

From like...86-90 I was the BIGGEST Scorpions fan 😁.
They actually started WAYYY back in 65!! and were big part of the NWoBM (New Wave of British Metal) in the 70s & 80s with Maiden, Priest, Motorhead etc even though they're from Germany.
I guarantee you've heard their song 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' 😉

The Scorpions were an amazing rock band.....if you dig deep into their work you will be surprised at the depth and quality of their albums. Blackout and Animal Magnatism are bangers.....listen to "Another piece of meat"....its as good a heavy rock song you could hear . Although this is a great song,it got so much airplay most people identity them to this........a bit like Aerosmith with " Don't wanna miss a thing".......please guys dig deeper, there is so much more.

I was only 3 or 4 when this song came out and when the Berlin Wall fell. So I personally didn't experience those emotions that people felt during those times...but the emotions this song and video give and represents transcends. I get chills and teary eyed every time I listen to this song.

What a Great way to start the day…Big Thanks to whoever suggested this, Love The Scorpions 💜🤘🏼 🦂 💫… one of my absolute favorites growing up I would get so happy when they were on the radio! You guys definitely need to do more by them and you’ll see, they don’t belong in the glam metal genre, they came way before like mid 60s and they really weren’t in that mix at all… they were definitely popular throughout the 80s but not glam hair metal lol…
    No One Like You
    Still Loving You
    Send Me An Angel
    Rock You Like A Hurricane
    …all great ✌🌻😎💚
🌏✨💚Imho … it’s possible to have peace, humans don’t want it. (You know I mean overall right, many of us desperately want it, individually speaking ) The evidence is all around us. If we really wanted peace, we would have it. We’re still evolving and have yet to rid ourselves of our combative nature…we like to fight, we like to be right, we like to one up and be better than…even though ‘enemy of our enemy is our friend’ I think we’re gonna make friends with aliens before we’re going to find peace amongst ourselves. Astrologically speaking we are in the Aquarian Age, early stages, of discovery and disruption and hopes/dreams and friends/community and wild technological advances, we’re going to be in this state of discovery for about 2500 years, the next Age will be Capricorn, and I believe that is where we will start to Actually build a calm and peaceful existence/co-existence with whatever is left of us…there will be peace just not in our lifetimes gentlemen…Until then, keep rockin’ on it helps humanity deal with tension better than anything else. 🤘🏼💫✌
I hope the aliens are metalheads!😎

So glad y’all did this guys, such an iconic song by one of my favorite bands! You probably already saw the comments on the backstory to this song, how the fall of the Berlin Wall & subsequent dissolution of the USSR sent shock waves across the globe. I think this song can be embraced by nearly every people on the planet. I heard they performed this last year & change some of the lyrics to reflect the conflict in the Ukraine. On a last note, oh man….y’all gotta bring more Scorpions! (I think their “Worldwide Live” album is among the best live runs ever). One of the absolute best hard rock bands of all time, & my two favorites songs are “The Zoo” & “No One Like You”. Smokey you mentioned the 80s ballads, & I think “Still Loving You “ is the bands key ballad. Appreciate you guys & your thoughtful commentary. God bless

I saw The Scorpions a few times. They were a good band with a very impactful song Winds of Change. The first song my son learned to play on the guitar when he was 7 was Rock You Like a Hurricane. I would like to suggest you react to the now 14 yr old guitar prodigy Taj Farrant. He's had a UA-cam channel since he was I believe 7. He's played with Carlos Santana along with others. He recently released his 4th single Crossroads that debuted at #1 on the US and Australian blues charts. He wrote, sings and plays every instrument on this single. The kid can play most every guitar solo from the best guitar heroes. His channel is addictive because you can't believe how good he is. He's done a couple of sold out small tours in the US. He and his family are moving to the US from Australia to help pursue his career. He has an instrumental song Cruz coming out at the end of August.
