    I love your videos! I actually blame you for getting into mosaics - LOL! Truthfully I have done stained glass for years and have quite the selection of glass, but cutting plates, bowls, and cups is another story. I would love it if you could a another teaching video and show your technique for cutting these materials. You have remarkable talents! Thanks for sharing with us!

      Hi Julie! First of all, GREAT name!😉 And second, thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you're enjoying mosaic and are able to put all that beautiful glass to great use. The good stuff! Your video request is definitely on the list!! Stay tuned for that, and thanks for the suggestion. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

    I do my glass projects on my kitchen table. I share it with my cat's food. ha ha All my glass and tessera in the room next door, the library. My next project is color coding all my glass. Right now i have mottles together, iridescents together, etc. But I really need to put like colors together. I've already done that with my beads and gems. It will help me find that piece of glass I know I have if I do that. You're right, I've spent more time looking for a certain piece of glass because I can't remember what I did with it. 😂 Thank you for this video and all the helpful hints!

      Hi speedmom! Ohhhh, lucky you getting to organize glass.🤗 That's one of my fave things to do! Your future self will thank you. And then you'll be able to spend more time working on your mosaics while your cat enjoys mealtime.😂 Here's a bunch of ways to organize glass including some of my studio faves: ua-cam.com/video/pHFwoEat2C0/v-deo.html. Keep creating (and organizing!) and I'm so glad you're here!🌟

    HI just watched the video. my work space is a quiet corner in my cellar. I try and keep things in some sort of order. My ideas come from you sometimes and sometimes from colorings books. i do much better following a pattern. when i do GOG items. I also try and do mosaics on many things. stone, cloth shoes and right now a hand hammered metal tray that was my mother's. I always tell the people about your You Tube videos to help them Have a good New Year,

      Hi Marion! What a sweet, quiet work space. I know it feels great to have a dedicated area to work. It sounds like you're doing a lot of experimenting with substrates. I love it! That's what makes mosaic so versatile in addition to our tesserae options. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌

    Have you ever made a styrofoam form to mosaic on? I'm relatively new, but my plan is to make a holiday keepsake set of mosaics for each of my daughters for this coming Christmas. Making a piece for each holiday, their birthday and their kids birthday. Keeping them to a size where they all fit into one container. They will then have a memory decoration from me for each holiday they can display if they so choose.

    It's been a year this week that I first became obsessed with mosaics and my messy dining/comfy seating area showed that! So last week I was able to get a small open style rolling drawer to put all my substrate in... then redid all the storage in my seating area to secretly hide away all my tessarae. So now my dining area (which is really just my mosaic station now and I'm good with that) is clear and I can grab what I need quickly when the mood strikes! I sort of make whatever idea has been scratching at the back of my brain... usually influenced by some work I saw on Instagram. I'll find something that just strikes my fancy and let my mind wander to something I'd like to make that's similar. I'm kind of trying out all different things right now. Thanks for another great video... and for reminding us that we don't need a studio/dedicated space... just make mosaics and have fun!

      Hi Erica! Happy one year anniversary!😉 If you're getting things in order, it sounds like you've been bitten by the mosaic bug and you aren't going anywhere. Welcome! I'm so glad you're enjoying it and allowing your mind to stay open and receive all of those creative ideas. What a journey you're on! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

    Hi Julie! I've been watching your videos a lot recently and really appreciate the amount of time n dedication you take into teaching about mosaics. Thank you so much!! I want to do mosaics as a career and am working towards that and was wondering if you had any beginner tips and tricks in finding opportunities for community and other similar portfolio work when starting out?

    • @JulieWeilbacher
      @JulieWeilbacher  Рік тому

      Hi Soft Jungle! Thank you for your kind words.😊 The best place to start in getting the word out and finding opportunities is word of mouth. Tell your family and friends what you’re doing and looking for. Join mosaic groups online and IRL because opportunities sometimes present themselves in those circles. That’s a good, no-cost start. Keep creating and I’m thankful you’re here!🔥

    QUESTION:
    I'm sorry this is unrelated to this video...but I saw your short on the conversation hearts.
    Could you please tell us how you made the heart shape or did you mosaic over something already heart shaped?
    Also, how did you do that grout?
    Thank you for all of your videos and the time it takes for you to make them for us! I love your work and all of your ideas, tips, tricks and guidance!
