Kismet! This video could not have come at a better time. I’m caught in today’s housing crunch and am moving. My new house is wonderful, has almost triple the square footage, an extra large deck in the front and huge backyard, already built in-ground garden beds and a greenhouse. But; for the first time in over 30 years, I don’t have a large designated studio. I don’t mind saying I’m freaking out! Downsizing my studio is NOT an option, as I have clearly explained to my family, so organization is paramount right now. Your absolutely right, my Pique Assiette crockery takes up an amazing amount of space. I’ve decided to settle on breaking them all down and binning them by color, seems the most efficient way for me. Perfect timing. Thanks 😊
Hi Ms. KC! Wow! Congrats on your new house! Breaking down the plates, bowls, and mugs does free up some space. And by grouping and storing them in a way that makes sense to you, you'll quickly forget you ever kept them in stacks in the first place. Everything is so much easier to get to now. Good luck on your move! Keep creating and I'm glad you're here! 🙌
Julie, I cut up my plates, bowls and mugs. Then the baggie system inside a clear tote. Sorted by color. I have a couple of plates that I store in a clear, mayonnaise jar. That's an easy grab. All of it was from your advice, thank you! Looks very neat and efficient. Go Julie!
Hi Tonya! Sounds like you're got a system going.🔥 It's great to hear my video helped! Have you always cut down your plates, bowls, and mugs? I like all the shelf space I gained by cutting down mine...make room for more tesserae! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌
@@JulieWeilbacher My interest in mosaics began last summer. It started with a UA-cam lady and a bowling ball with mirrors on it, gazing ball. Then I found You! I already took over a whole shelf system in the basement, so cutting the plates and such is a space saving idea that works! Actually that shelf is the best organized thing in my house! All thanks to you and your channel. Hope you never run out of steam!
I’ve just started my mosaic journey, and right now I have most of my material packed in 5 gallon plastic buckets with lids that you can get at home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot here in the U.S, because I live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment. I would readily use cardboard boxes but, they tend to attract bugs where I live (desert). Not an ideal system but, I don’t have a garage or additional space at this time. I’m currently eyeing my walk-in closet for extra space for shelving. 😝
Hi LA! You've come up with a system that works for you right now....and most importantly, it doesn't sound like it's keeping you from making! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Julie, I have besides a bookcase with shelves, a dresser with plates and cups. Just because it was in the room i made over for my craft. I love your work and really enjoy learning from you. Thank you for your tips and tricks to shorten my learning curve. 😉
Hi Peggy! Awww, thanks for your kind words.😊 Great to hear you're enjoying my videos and getting some value from them. Whatever I can do to help! I like that you're using the furniture you already have for storage. Smart!! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
I now cut up all my plates and cups and place them in clear individual food containers which I buy on Amazon. I use mostly patterned dishes pieces so it's easy to just grab the containers I want to use on my mosaic. I set the containers up in front of my substrate.....it reminds me of when I painted and placed the paint on my palette.
Hi Michelle! What a fun set-up while you're tiling.😍 Do you miss seeing the plates uncut, stored somewhere in your creative space? Or do you prefer having them cut up? When I realized how much space I gained by cutting them up, it was a no-brainer.😂 Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Dianne! Do it!! You might find treasures you forgot about.🤞🏻And it’s cathartic too. I do it every so often as well. Keep creating and I’m glad you’re here!🔥
wow i hope to have a studio like yours one day julie, i mean i already have the room designated in the basement, but i am missing the orgaization gene hahaha, thanks for showing us how to keep all the mosaic stuff organized, i like to see everything in plain view as well, i just need to have nice strong shelves built , and lots of them , and shelves that are not too deep, or i run the risk of stacking things to deep and so much will get lost , curious Julie, how deep are your shelves ?? thanks great video and always stay to watch the bloopers theyre the bestest :-)
Hi Mermaid Seahorse! Awww, sounds like you've got a great start by finding the space in your house. Once you get some shelves installed and decide on the types of containers you'd like, then start grouping supplies in a way that makes sense to you. My shelves are 13" deep and 18" deep. Here's a video I did on my channel that shows most of my mosaic materials and how I organize them (ua-cam.com/video/pFhQJngcRjg/v-deo.html). Keep creating and I'm glad you're here! 🔥
How did you arrange, what variety, how do you manage.... Unfortunately, I don't understand what you are saying, it would be good if you wrote in Russian, Armenian, at least tell me what you put in Julie's box????
You are so clever. I’ve watched this a few times, it’s so helpful. Thanks.
Hi Ginny! Yay!! I’m glad to hear it helped. Keep creating and I’m thankful you’re here!✨
