- Where are the Nine? It’s been awhile since we received any information on them, the focus was the Witness and the final battle. In the Final Shape though, we see depictions of Xur and Starhorse, and even receive a new entry about Drifter’s vision with the Emissary. The Nine may reappear in a future episode or Frontiers and today we discuss what we know.

There were was some supposed rumors that one of the nine would be in control of one of the echos in heresy.

As someone who only just started messing with Dares of Eternity, I still find it absolutely hilarious and Love that this Game show style competition, complete with Easter eggs like Xur asking us to spade and neuter our ghosts or lines like “wacky obstacle course” or “totally bonkers”,
Is still actually run with a purpose by this Eldritch horror hidden entity in the stars

Prophecy, told by the nine, speaking how light and dark are the same, it was a forshadow of Prisma classes.

Seeing what the Echoes did to nessus, its possible that The nine will use one of the Echoes to change into the physical realm and maybe give themselves a physical body.
considering what the light and dark can do in harmony, its likely the only way they can be free from having to rely on other's sapience to have awareness

this is what i was thinking about too. but what gets me is that there are two groups in the nine one of benevolent beings and one of not so keen on the inhabitants of sol. i would hope that bungie runs with this idea preferably giving the good guys the echoes first then have the bad guys take it and then win the struggle for power and evolve into the next big bad guys.

@lilfrank6741 She may be a bad guy that has some build up, but isn’t The next Big Bad.. Her character doesn’t have the much room to go. And she probably won’t be better than oryx or savathun. My point is she doesn’t have the necessary traits to be long term. The Vex and The Nine are far more likely.

Idk if id read into this that deep. I think its just a reference to how bungie finally made him sit in one place and have more that you can do with him since he now has his own rank up system, more goodies and you can spend strange coins at him

Looking through all the stuff from eververse that will be sold for silver or bright dust, there is a Xur looking ghost that is named IX Shell
Thank you, I always wondered who tf are the nine when Xur speaks, but when I googled it, the answer was vague, so I didn't kept reading.
I say this with no irony, the lore Dust, and Ecdysis, as well as the Invitation to The Nine visits from Season of Drifter are some of the best lore stuff put into the game and it's actual cryptic stuff that *did* get delivered upon for the most part.
You could even interpret the Week 5 visit with the "4th wall break" could actually have been the Emissary talking about the Winnower vs Gardener game when she says how the Guardian can leave this game and has agency. At this point(and even before) the Guardian being plot convenienced Space Jesus is the essential special, chosen one who isn't bound to anything in particular. Just thinkin' out loud.
In some ways I feel like the game's story just got a little too dumb and goofy at times to commit to how the Nine were conceived and what they are capable of. In an ideal world we would've visited the Cocytus space station by now.
The “evil” frame work around the dark was one of the only things the Witness shaped with the lie that lead to the Hive. Furthering the dogma with the corruption of Dredgen Yor.

It serves as a way for him to access theor realm, we literally use it to get to the spot for the Reckoning activity before it got vaulted and Prophecy dungeon.
Definitely need more Nines stories. Would be cool to get back to back story on them
A event/update to dares of eternity and onslaught using xur as part of the event would be fun.
I hope we see more of both the Emissary and The Nine.
Xur's lore mentions him being part of a race called the Jovians. I wonder I we'll hear more about them along with the Nine.

With the loss of the Ahamkara, it was no wonder the Nine turned to us in pursuit of their own agenda. I will not be surprised to hear from the Nine again.

Not all the nine are trying to make bodies though, I remember somewhere it says that some of the nine actively seek to nurture this connection and aid humanity.

I don’t think gambit was the game their referencing. I think the game in reference was the battle between us and the witness and now that it’s come to an end, that’s when they’re going to do something else.
I do really like the idea behind the nine and what their potential could be, unfortunate that they’ve been put on the back burner for now with only references made occasionally

I think week meet then in frontier as we explore out of the solar system and they will be our guides to begin with and then will betray us and set up the next raid and saga of wiping each one out in each dlc coming
We still need retribution against those in the nine that helped the red legion when they attacked the last city.

If the nine are bound to our sol planets and life, they might not want us to leave sol.
The nine are anchored to the planet, but we are still missing a few planets. They will want mercury/Io back so they can leave sol

I’ve been wondering lately if Xur is basically the counterpart of the Witness, Xur representing the Nine and the Witness representing whatever ultimate force of darkness is pulling the strings behind the scenes. I’m not very deep in the lore besides the surface-level stuff so I may be way off, idk

I think the "game" the emisary is reffering to, is the flower game, not gambit as the coin has a pyramid ship on it rather than something like a mote from gambit.
Anyone else notice at the end of Dares Xur and the horse if you aim at them your retical is red not green?

is the two women savathun and mara? and the liar could also be talking about sava considering she was the key for us getting into the traveler, the only person i can think of for the one man after doing the campaign is zavala considering he was really torn about his family and the forever grasping could be that he is always going to chasing the memory of his family before the traveler gave him the light and not them

Ok so what is the star horse backstory
When 30th anniversary was released the prevailing theory was that Starhorse actually represented Bungie themselves. That whole cosmic gameshow thing is pretty fourth-wall breaking so that seems reasonable. I’m inclined to believe that the Xur/Starhorse shot is just a little bit of fan service, but this wouldn’t be the first time something in the game that directly acknowledges us the players (cough cough Ahamkara cough Winnower) has major story impact.
something of the nine reminds me of the witness...were they a race that coexisted with the precursor witness race? and after the witness went in a unison and, well, the witness was born, the nine did their own thing like a background acting force.

Not an edit, but the nine's speech pattern is very familiar, its very witness like isnt it? listen to the nine speak and listen to that voice and focus, its trippy but it further solidifies the theory, you're telling me the witnesses race was the only one on that planet? are there humans only on earth? feel free to comment and share ideas i love reading community thoughts.

Anyone else listening while doing bounties for an early Act 2 boost?
Did they confirm that the Act 2 levels aren't retroactive once it starts? As I play, I get notifications of post-100 Episode levels being achieved, i.e. I had a pop-up saying I hit 105 earlier. Still saving weeklies just in case, but it made me wonder.
@@whodat_617 I doubt it. But, if they somehow are, just means it's prep I can save for Revenant. The next two Episodes look to be my favorite aesthetically. Was never into the Vex-themed armor.

We don’t want them. They ran when the witness popped up. They alone made them the least interesting mystery in the lore.

No one really cares, we play destiny 2 for the guns, the raids and the players not to be a sad bum and search deep into boring fictional lore just for 15 minutes of UA-cam content for clout 😂 might I suggest a life or a job, hell even try a girlfriend man you’d be surprised how fun life can be when you don’t bum off a game made by bungie but complain the moment they need to take the game down to fix things that players purposely go out their way for to ruin the game 🫶
