"It’s ironic that Kay’s ship is called the Trailblazer, since there’s actually not a whole lot of ideas in Star Wars Outlaws that haven’t been done before in other action and open-world adventures. Instead, it’s quite like the Millenium Falcon: a bucket of bolts held together with repurposed parts and prone to breaking down, but at its best it’s more than capable of jolting your pleasure centres into Star Wars fan hyperspace. A clever syndicate system brings real weight to almost every task you choose to undertake, some of which have creative quest designs that can often conjure up some genuinely stunning blindsides. Having a pal like Nix at your side the entire time not only adds an extra dimension to Kay’s fairly generic smuggler character, but also gives her an enhanced set of useful abilities. But even he can’t quite make its stealth and combat feel any less rigid and repetitive, and the odds of avoiding the many glaring technical issues present at launch are 3,720 to one. But you probably didn’t want me to tell you the odds."

My guess is that they were trying to remind you that this is a Han Solo type character and needs to look badass while wielding a blaster most of the time
It’s meant to keep you on your toes and to make sure you see all the weapons. Not lazy. Just a decision.

Yeah, not sure why but people seem to not understand that 7/10 is actually a very solid rating as it's well above average (5) but this game doesn't seem to be that at all. 5 would probably be the best it realistically can get.

Unbelievable that this would get a 7. The review itself would suggest a 5 at best.

The biggest turn off for me is when you shoot a blaster to an enemy in the head and it doesn't kill the enemy right away, even without a helmet. Like how do they expect us to be immersed when a laser gun is comically worse than IRL guns?
Not even talk about she's beating all the soldiers and stormtroopers while not wearing any armor. It's really hard for me to be immersed and believe that I'm actually fighting against Stromtroopers when they can't even beat a woman in a leather jacket.

Edit 2: @12:10 nothing seems fun or authentic. The animation looks awful how she runs to instant slides, which led to the quirky "wooow, we're going in". Who would ever guess you were going into the pit when you decided to go in the pit. Game is soulless.

This looks absolutely terrible.

So let me get this straight... It's riddled with bugs.. the story is *OK* at best... the gunplay is lazy.. the stealth aspect is slapped in as an afterthought... the visuals drop in and out.. important dialogue may or may not work... objectives won't show when they should, forcing restarts galore... you even highlight 'running from a sandworm' showing graphics worse than a playstation 2 game... and it gets a 7/10? Did you even play the game? Or did a brand exec have your family at gunpoint?
This game is 9 years too late. If it had come out in 2015 instead of battlefront this would’ve been a huge success back then, but today it just feels like another Ubisoft game with a star wars skin on top.

Loving this game. Came to see how negative everyone is in the comments. Pretty par for the course. The art and world building, level design and many simple yet effective video game tropes keep it entertaining and addicting. And the level of detail in the world is mind blowing, if you want to just escape into a world that feels alive it delivers. Feels like a real Star Wars adventure, and the developers should be proud of this. Some people complain that things are too simple, like stealth, or shooting. But those are things that are made fun by the many puzzles and platforming segments that tie them together, and make you feel like you're exploring a real place. It really is amazing how good gaming has got, and how hard people are to impress these days.

I’m an iOS developer. The fact that the average competitive salary for a mobile developer is more than a game developer ( which I believe to be the most difficult form of software development ) shows there’s a “talent” issue and the industry knows it. A lot of game developers today aren’t purists like they were back in the 90s - early 2000s… I feel like game developers today are people who love video games, just not making them.
