Nice car, nice channel, nice videos... Thank you JB, that's AWESOME! I love that car and u did the first modifications i would do, keep going, you are doing it great!
Rodolfus Cheers for the support mate! This is an awesome comment 👌🏼
Rodolfus thought it had an electronic oil measuring?
@@JBCTR What's the torque figure on this? I used to own a 1.6 TDI Leon that was remapped to 147bhp 340nm torque and i just about got by a Fiesta 1.0 125 ecoboost 😂 talk about gutted. Lovely little motor in that grey
Mr330d 214lbft 👍🏼
For the start modify your driving position.
My God man, pull that steering wheel towards you and sit your seat up! That's painful to watch.
😁 I thought the exact same thing!
Couldn't agree more
Believe me, He NEVER replies to negative comments !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adam Chambers What does it matter to you how he sits in his own car?
@@cmagennis927 He made a perfect observation of his low seating position, the bloody bloke can only just see over his dammed steering wheel. 😜😜😜
7000 miles is not enough to claim whether an engine is reliable or not
Yeah. At that milage it's barely run in. Check back at 30-40,000 then we'll see.
Come back when it has 130,000 on the odo.
@@monkmodemalik8225 I doubt it'll make much over 100,000 most of these 3 cylinder ford engines shit the bed at 90k. Too highly strung to last.
Clickbait titel bro
@@cardude5323 So is it a good car or not?
Never understood why people have such weird seating positions. When your hand's on top of the wheel it looks like you're stretching to reach it.
Aaron Nixon This is so strange. I changed the camera angle. The seat position hasn’t changed 😂
This was bothering me also. Maybe you should try to put the steering wheel more towards your body if that's possible. Otherwise just put the back of the seat more straight up. It's better for hard breaking and give's so much more effortless steering. But offcourse if you are satisfied with this position keep it like this. Doesn't look like it's a totaly wrong position but for performance driving your arms should be more bent. But realy nice video, wish i had the money for this great fun looking car.
Omar Liew It really is just the camera angle lol. If you my other videos, I use a different camera angle but with the same driving position. It doesn’t look weird. I agree in this video it looks a bit odd!
Girls drive with 1 hand on top of steering wheel. Lol.
When you are driving you need to stretch your arm to go to the top op the steering wheel, rule of thumb is when seated against the backrest your wrist should be able to touch the top of the steering wheel when fully stretched. You will find that driving like that will give you more control and feeling in the steering wheel. Just a tip
Nice video! I've order it in october ... I hope it could arrive, maybe, in january :) I've choose the performace blue, I think that is the perfect color. Great to hear that the car doesn't have problem with the engine :) :)
That smile at the end, my face does that every time i get in mine and especially when you get the pops when rev matching
Which rev matching do you mean, at which rpm?
Recommend video by UA-cam, I can see this channel go far, keep it up bud!
The smirk at every cut....STOP IT!!!
Thank you for nice videos. They look really great and provide useful information about the cars along with a nice language. Please make some research about the best driving position and everyone (esp. you) will be happy at the end!
You did the induction noise in the interior ❤️ thanks JB, sounds good 👌
Maxwell Hopkins No worries 👍🏼
Thanks for this positive review. Sound is excellent.
Another superb video. Nice music, relaxed video style. Very informative for a fiesta st owner.
One question: How do you take care of your engine? How do you drive it, when the engine is not at working temperature. Thanks in advance👍
I have always done my best to care for the engine. I had a pretty strict run-in period. Didn’t go anywhere near the limiter for the first 1000 miles, and never kept the revs at a constant speed. After 1000 miles, normal driving ensued. I tend to wait for coolant temp to reach optimum, and then wait a little longer before giving it the beans. I wish the ST had an oil temp gauge 🤦🏼♂️ other than that, I drive it how I fancy it and don’t shy away from a track day 😉
JB CTR thanks for the detailed answer. At what max revs do you keep it when getting it to temperature?
Manuun1 As low as I can! 3k at most probably?
well as far as i know ( im not professional) you can push the engine to the limits right after you pick it up from the dealership as long you get to the identical temparture. But it is better to drive it normally for the michanical parts like gearbox suspensions etc the manual book says go easy with the car the first 1500 km.
Camera doesn't do the sound justice, but that grin that appeared on your face during the hill climb says it all.
I've the same engine run for about 20.000 km. Absolutely no issues. Oil change and maintenance at 10.000 km.
Drop your oil intervals to 7500km. You will thank me later...
Nice video again. I'm at 4500 miles and car has been ok. Only problems i have had are annoying rattle coming from the headlining area around sunroof comes and goes will get it looked at when it has its first service, the infotainment screen froze once and the sunroof threw a seven once but turned the car on and off and not had a issue since. I'm saving up for the miltek exhaust and Collins performance have just released there stage 1 map that I hope to get soon. Mountune are dragging there feet a bit with modifications I think. My seats are still tip top.
chris else If the infotainment screen has only frozen once, you are doing well! Glad you are enjoying the car, and the content :)
Wasnt expecting to sound like that. Sounds really good
Video was really well put together and audio was spot on, enjoyed that. Only thing I'll add (may only be me) but just speak normally as you would to a friend. The 'I'm a car journalist and present for Carbuyer' voice is necessary, most people respond better when it just feels like a conversation (Mr JWW is a good example).
Excellent informative video, keep up the good work! I have to wait a while until it's released in Australia next year to see one in real life. In my research I saw some issues with cracked heads and leaking coolant with some MK7 engines and started freaking out. Sounds like it's all good so far with the MK8 let's hope this engine stays as reliable as the first 7k miles
Kenji Walter Looks good so far! Although playing devils advocate, my MK7 was perfect for nearly 4 years and I received the recall notice for it just as I sold it. So some problems take a while to manifest but we shall see! At least I’ve beaten most of the Focus RS’s when it comes to mileage before any engine faults were identified.
Just be aware that the Aust version of European Ford's come with less options as standard , tho am hoping they will be the same spec . I have a Focus mk2 ST3 (xr5 in Aust) and things like headlights are same as base model, no heated windscreen, suspension is softer and higher than UK spec ... We never got the 3dr model which is what I wanted.
Having said that, I'll be Keen to take one of those Fiestas for a spin when we eventually see them 😎
Marty thanks for the heads up. Info seems a bit sparse for Aust spec. Mainly interested in the performance pack, actually just the diff, 5 door would be more practical with kids but not look as tough. LED lights would be nice to.
Kenji Walter If you are after a performance pack review - I reviewed it here: ua-cam.com/video/JZzStbJQ7fM/v-deo.html
@@kenjiwalter5024engine performance should not be affected, only the trim levels and accessories. I would get a list the UK version and compare to what has gone missing on the boat to Aust lol !
Maybe it's the camera angle, BUT can you actually see the bonnet when your driving, I only ask as your eyeline "appears" to be in line with the top of the steering wheel ????
You cannot see it, telling you cause i have a st line
It wouldn't be a JB CTR video without a handsome silhouette emerging from the rural horizon @ approximately 0:01 into the video
Is it possible to turn off the fake engine noise which comes through the speakers? I haven't driven one of these so can't tell from the video if that fake noise is there.
What fuel is people using with the st3 mk8? And where are they going for the fuel?
Great video! I've had mine for 1500 miles now. Have you had to change your tyres yet?
Scott Glover Nope, plenty left. Even after a damp track day. Although I have done a fair bit of motorway stuffs too.
I have a mk8 st line with 15500 miles on it, bought it with 6 miles on it , can’t stop driving it
Finally getting mine next week!
Two weeks for me!
You sit a long way from the steering wheel.
Cant blame him...you only need to be hit by an airbag once and you really dont wanna be near it.
That little engine makes a fantastic noise 👌
I guess the cone filter's there for the induction sound rather than the extra power. Which brings me to the problem with almost all modern cars - massive amounts of sound insulation. This means that people have to put noisy air filters and antisocial exhausts on just to hear what their car can actually do! Alternatively they have to pipe in fake noise. Either is a shame because this 3-pot engine is a really good sounding one. Much more interesting to listen to than a 4 cylinder (unless it is a BDA, which nothing in the last 40 years has been)
A couple of notes.
1. 3 cylinder with heavy flywheel. Not made for hooning. Rev hang galore and it's revs really slowly when trying to heel and toe it.
2. You sit too far away from the steering wheel.
Something ford are good at is suspension set up I have sport suspension on my st-line mondeo but it rides perfectly for everday driving just have to remember the car is low to the road so pulling up against raised kurbs is something to remember its definitely lower then the fiesta ST front end as it has front skirts on each edge of the front bumper, been close a few times
1.5 3 cylinder is 500cc per pot. Same as a 3l v6 and no one questions that. Similar piston size, rods etc etc
Right but those 3 pistons are doing alot of work to make the car perform the way it does... that's where the potential for issues arises when it comes to long term reliability. I would go on limb and say post 100k miles
You know what Mate, I was going to get the new version here in the USA as I have a 2014 Fiesta ST, and I love it, it’s at Stage 3 with a 3” exhaust system, and it’s way more Thoroughly then that puny three cylinder. Not to mention the MK-7 is better looking all the way around. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺
Love the vidds I'm getting a fiesta st2 performance pack 😀 so will be watching how you get on... I was wondering if there is a way of deactivating the cylinder deactivation on the engine... I'm sceptical about the reliability long term.... So went for the 5 year warranty..
Kevin Parr Cheers Kevin. You’ll love the new ST 💪🏼 no way of deactivating it that I am aware of, other than sticking it in sport or race mode.
I’ll be honest, you really don’t notice the cylinder deactivation unless you really listen hard for it. If you’ve got the radio on, you’d have no idea 😁
@@JBCTR really? Is it that simple... just running it In sport mode... I can live with that ... ps love the red calipers...
Good production, nice vid
Steven Alford Cheers!
That actually sounds good. Almost like a v6. Nice
Watched with envy from the USA, where the Mk7 will be our last Fiesta, being cancelled next year in favor of trucks. Maddening, really. That said, I love my 2015 Fiesta ST. Thanks for the excellent review!
nice video, I got mine in Italy and interestingly they said the car was already 'run-in ' so I could let it loose right away. Has anyone else experienced this?
Honest Drives This is always up for debate. Personally, I’m not convinced. With the amount of engines they produce, how could they possibly have the capacity to run them all in? Either way, they won’t have run in the brakes, suspension, tyres etc so always best to take it easy initially.
@@JBCTR they run them in by having them idle and holding revs for a good few hours at the end of the engine production line do about 500 miles then serviced then put into the cars. Just a general gist of what happens every company is different so even though your car may read '0' miles on delivery or whichever ... it's had a few put on
The location is giving me shivers, the dirty car :( hahah
Brilliant review
taff_G1 Cheers, and Happy Holidays 👌🏼
What are your number plates stuck on with? Did you take the foam off where the rear number plate sits?
tomliamkins Just numberplate sticky pads, and yes I removed the foam on the rear 👍🏼
What mileage you up to now?
Hello,
i'm thinking of buying ST myself but unfortunatelly in Poland/Gdansk and nowhere around there is no chance of a testdrive.
Could You please make a video or just response here of just any daily things You encounter like fuel consumption with normal driving mode (commuting on city, highways speeds), engine revs level on 90km/h and 140km/h, cabin noise on motorways/highways.
Would You again get the glass roof? Isn't it cooling car too much on a really cold day?
Dont You have any problems with suspencion being too hard on daily drives? Is crossing a sleeping policeman/speed breaker any problem?
Cheers! :)
Adam Broda hi there, fuel consumption is around 40mpg. The revs sit at around 3k at 70mph. I love the roof - it’s not that cold here in the UK. Suspension is fine and no problems with speed bumps :)
hi!plz help me I want to buy either the mk7 st200 or the new st3...I ve watched like a 100 videos trying to see witch is the best but I cant get to a conclusion.Well you ve driven a 250hp mk8 st3(revo) with 350hp..plz tell me your opinion witch was the best?
Replied to your comment on the RT330 video :)
Only issue I’ve found that is really annoying on my ST is the rain sensors. On my old fiesta the automatic wipers picked up the rain with ease and with the new MK8 it seems to take a massive shower before they activate.
You can adjust the sensitivity on the stick!
Done 1500 miles in mine now, Apple Car Play works when it wants to but other than that it's perfect 👌🏻
Hey, I came across your channel quite recently. Amazing videography, I can’t fault that. Keep this up and you have a great opportunity for a career in UA-cam. A couple of things that I could say to change or to work on is to loosen up a bit while filming, it looks forced at the beginning of the video, but as the video goes along you tend to calm down a bit and the flow of the video is much better. And last thing is don’t do a “walking towards the camera shot” twice in a row when you are on the same topic. It looks odd because it seems you keep teleporting back to the car :D. Apart from that. It was a great piece of content and I still enjoyed it very much.
jonathan dovaston Thanks! I love a good bit of constructive feedback! Thanks for the compliment, and the help 😊
I have a MK8 Zetec (yes it's not an ST) and I have just clocked 18,000 miles. Engine is spot on still, had my first service and nothing was wrong other than the recall I had on it. All good!
Pevster Good to hear! The service scheduled on the 1.0 is mad. Can’t believe it’s every 2 years!
Yeah because after 7k miles one can confirm an engine is reliable.
Must agree with comments below that your driving position is horrible and ridiculous, as I've stated in other comment sections of other UA-camrs who drive a Fiesta ST.
Camera angle won't change the fact that your arm is fully stretched when reaching for the top of the steering wheel. If anything, a good driving position has your arms always in a bend and never stretched.
How's the car going any issues or additional work under warranty like the seats?? I'm considering buying one so interested in hear the bad stuff.... Not just the good....
Johnog Nothing to note really. I’ve not got the seats done yet as I was hoping to get a list of warranty jobs put together before booking it in. Only other thing is water ingress in the wing mirror indicator cap. That’s it! Should probably get it booked in... lol
@@JBCTR thanks! That's good to hear , I was going to get a 5door silver fox but heard the bumper and body are painted on different lines or factories and the result is they don't match....
You should first take a correct seating position....
That 3 cylinder sounds asthmatic tbh. It's just like a wheeze with some pops n bangs thrown in
that hill climb bits in burghfield right? thought i recognised it lol
im warming to these so so much more than i first thought
Still waiting to receive these in Australia, couldn't wait so I bought a MK7.
Hey mate! Mine has almost 5k kilometers and I can confirm the engine looks perfect! I only had a small issue about the driver seat! It looks like It hasn't been correctly assembled, infact It often had small movements during hard brake or acceleration! Ford assistance has fixed It in few days!
Cheers from Italy :)
cherubyno The old MK7 seats had this issue. My new ones seem ok! Thanks for watching :)
@@JBCTR Mine Is an mk8 Fiesta ST! So I probably have been pretty unkucky!:D
Surely the induction kit and exhaust affect the warranty???
Yup, but only if they can be proven to have caused the fault.
Wha's the mpg like? I bought a focus ST3 last year and it drinks it around town.
in town is it around 7,5 liter / 100km
First eye catcher for me was your seating position xD
Hello how often you recommend change oil and filters in this model of ST?
Service is every 12,000 miles :)
Lots more torque than the Mk7? They both put out 214lb/ft.
Richard Hurr Peak figures. It’s about how that torque is delivered 😏
Hey mate, the editing is great on this vid! Also I've just hit 17,300miles with my Fiesta mk.8 and the only issues I've had is with the window motor and my rear sensors so I would rest easy worrying about the engine
You people with enough money to buy that new are fine. These cars are a minefield on the used market.
That seat looks worrying at only 7k!
Is the quality really that much better than the M7?
Bigger Sat Nav and the sunroof is a welcome thing though!
Sunroof is hardly welcome on a hot hatch. It hampers the performance.
Idk I've got a 1.25 Mk6 with close to 150,000 miles and it's not had any issues. They're solid cars if you take good care of them
Safety First 1.25’s are solid engines. Not too much to go wrong with them! These 1.5’s are interesting and a little unknown at the moment. 3 cyclinder with cylinder de-activation technology has raised questions when it comes to reliability.
@@JBCTR To be honest, every time ford brings out a new "flagship" engine it ends up being a solid choice. Flagship being the 1.25 duratec, the 1L ecoboost ect.
Hi bud, while I still have 4 months to wait for my ST to arrive, I already know the first thing I want to change and it's the fog light bulbs. I couldn't find the bulbs on Ceuk's website - any chance you could hook me up with a link or contact so I can get some? Your bulbs seem like a colour perfect match for the LED headlamps and that's what I'm aiming for! Cheers
Matt Rosell I bet you are buzzing mate 😁 you will love it when it arrives! Here’s a link to a ‘how to’ video which has a link and discount code in the description 👍🏼
ua-cam.com/video/OhURmUPIoCQ/v-deo.html
On the fog light issue... yellow light penetrates fog. That's why the old cars had bright yellow fog lamps.
White light doesn't penetrate rain, low light or fog very well and there has been plenty of debate on the new white light led headlights being safe... I'd say no but I get blinded 24/7 by cars coming the other way coz I'm not in a shitty suv
I have a 67 plate St Line fiesta and am looking to do some modifications in the future, still not sure exactly what or when just wondered does the warrenty get affect from mods or are they fine?
Harry Crane Depends on the mods. They will likely invalidate the warranty of anything relating to the area modified. Some dealers are more lenient than others too, so bit of a grey area.
@@JBCTR Thanks for the reply, yea ill give my local dealer a ring when im ready and see whats the deal and what they will cover, thanks again mate
Ive done 5500 in mine only thing to happen is window motor going due to the wife trying to open it when frozen
buckleyjteams already?
Yeah took delivery of mine in October
Ok, one question and a warning.
The question is, do the new led cornering lights or fog lights dim like the original?
The warning is about the mounts of the headlights. I've had my passenger side headlight mount broken without any reason, and it was not easy to show up. I noticed it when I found out that the beam was lower than the driver's side. After some search, I found out that a lot of MK8 and MK7 have the same problem. So, take a look at them from time to time. Fortunately, mine were covered by the warranty, but I worry for future problems.
Cheers.
George Tsinikosmaoglou Thanks for the heads up! I had no issues in my MK7 with the headlights mounts for nearly 4 years, but I’ll keep an eye out on the MK8!
The LED fogs come on slowly and DIM like the originals. You can just about see it at 04:16 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/OhURmUPIoCQ/v-deo.html
Do you change from normal to sport while the car is still or can you do this whilst driving at speeds thanks
murrayjohn4 You can change the driving modes at any time. While driving, or at a stand still 👍🏼
JB CTR thanks just checking

MarkReading I’m lucky to have them near by!
@@JBCTR We are indeed. Luv the look of the new ST and surprised about the engine being that good. Though I'll stick to my 15yr old 2.8L V6 4Motion.
Impressive headroom for a small car I must say.
Just hit 2000 on mine, can’t fault it at all so far!
brought a jaguar x-type with 109.000 on the clock 2 years ago (just ordered it online like a pizza!) and it cracked 140.000 lately. still going strong! so does the rust!
Wheel to seat comments below but it’s actually the steering wheel control or lack of on cornering under acceleration at the end that is bloody dangerous upon anything unexpected happening!
I have the Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 100ps titanium, 4 weeks and have done 1000 miles, the 3 cylinder engine is brilliant but not impressed by the fuel economy, will it improve when it's more run in, who knows
Jenny Donne It will get better! Although for a small engined car, they certainly aren’t the most economical.
I've the same engine and average out 55mpg for my extra-urban commute, in town though I'm at 30~. I found my mpg went up by about ten when run in, and another 6mpg when I hit 10k miles.
Thank you, I've been averaging 35-45 mpg so far & hoping it's going to improve, obviously I know it would improve once it's run in. It's a fantastic engine & it's got a lot of guts.
Think i will stick with my mk7 and RT330 turbo map. Will admit i was very close to getting a mk8 but i cancelled the order.
ST2 Teddy As awesome as the MK8 is and having reviewed the 330 package, I TOTALLY get that. I had such a giggle on that day!
Had mine fitted a week before your video dropped. Completely agree with all your points on rt330 turns the ST into an absolute hooligan. Im going to enjoy it for a while yet and wait to see what sort of power revo can tease out of the mk8.
Does it red line to 6500 or 7000... ? ... it can't be both. It's a serous question.
I am a happy 90,000 kilometre owner of a MK VII and like the idea of the MK VIII but I do have some concerns that might leave me some what disappointed. My MK VII has the factory supported MP215 which makes it more powerful and torque than the stock MK VIII
The look and the interior of the MK VII is superior no question, I am juts concerned that Ford might have engineered some of the raw personality out of it.
glad my seats arent the only ones doing this. have you noticed the heated steering wheel not being very good aswell
aaron bates It’s my first heated wheel, so I don’t have too much to compare it to. But it is a little weak, I’ll give you that.
@@JBCTR i work with land rovers and jaguars all day and it doesnt even come close. it doesnt come close too the mk3 focus either

randyloader This may help? ua-cam.com/video/d2632121WSk/v-deo.html
Did you have a problem with your Insurers when adding those modifications?
Benzknees Nope. The car was insured on a modified vehicle policy from the outset as I had planned to add mods over time. Was just a case of ringing them up and informing them 👍🏼
JB CTR OK thx for that & the interesting comments on the engine!
How much does it consumes? Can you drive it economical too?
They're brilliant on fuel. I average about 35mpg, easily over 40 if you don't have more fun on back-roads
CEUK Induction kit. Does it screw your base warranty.
VimyScout It’s not warranty friendly, but it can be removed easily. Make of that what you will 😬
how many mpg you get driving in a busy city?
25-30 if I remember rightly. It was pretty good on fuel.
Believe me that engine will be trouble, keep an eye on coolant levels. Notorious for engine fires.
What LED did you put on halogen .....? )))
RS1969POLAND They are from CEUK. I did a video on the install and a review on the LED here: ua-cam.com/video/OhURmUPIoCQ/v-deo.html
Next stop a remap and a set of LED rear lights when someone designs some?
does this car have a sound symposer like the mk7 ?
godamighty There is ‘fake’ sound played through the speakers apparently, but I haven’t noticed it if I am totally honest. A little different to the MK7, which utilised a physical symposer with a vibrating membrane to produce the in-cabin sound.
Hold on those are the ones going bang...didn't the test car go bang when they unveiled it.
Nice car, much better update than the Mk4 focus.
The school where I'm getting my driver license they already have over 30.000km on these
Wait til that little gasket by the water pump starts weeping........so is the owner its just out of warranty . Thought they had fixed the problem on the 1.0 ecoboost so it would not have carried over
Good luck mate with baggy seat covers under warranty. Share the outcome please.
Neil Watson Will do, although I’ll probably wait until first service!
how tall are you?
7000 miles is the break in period of a turbo engine lol
Links for the modified parts would be a good idea. More important than links to your camera kit.
Huw Williams Not a bad shout to be fair. I will link them going forwards. They are linked in the descriptions of the videos where I am fitting modifications if you’d like to see exactly what’s on the car.
Are you in Reading?
you trully deserve more subs
