Cheers for watching! Hopefully this provides a little insight in to the long term ownership of one of these cars - particularly one that has been modified. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see 😎
Two mods that often *DECREASE* POWER, not increase it. 1) Induction kit. You're removing a cold air feed and replacing it with an engine bay warm air feed. The amount of air being taken into your engine is controlled by the ECU and turbo. If the ECU asks for 1.5BAR of turbo that's what you get, and that equates to a certain amount of air. It doesn't matter how big your intake is, you're not getting any more air into the engine. So you'll make more power if you have cold air instead. There's a reason why manufacturers use an airbox to keep warm engine air out and feed it from outside.. 2) Larger intercooler doesn't really add any power. It's useful if you're working the car hard and you can slowdown heatsoak, such as tracking the car. But when everything is cold it can decrease performance, cause a pressure drop and add turbo lag. Lots of info online about fitting larger intercoolers reducing performance and turbo efficiency. On the Fiesta ST neither the intake or exhaust are restrictive for performance. Change them for the sound and aesthetics. Remap on a standard car, and same remap on a car with every bolt on tuning accessory available will produce basically the same power.
Weird that the reviewer doesn't respond to your message. You are absolutely right. You can change the intake with mountune One, which is also a cold air intake. I have seen tests, and some can give 5 to 8bh more, but for performance, you better stick with the original. It protects the engine better from dirt and fine dust. I remember you saying in one of your videos that you found yourself with Carplay crashing regularly when driving, and it would only rectify when you stopped the car and got out. Found this myself after buying a 68 plate Fiesta 2 days ago - found that holding the stereo power button with the next track button for 6 seconds resets the whole thing without the need to get out and stop! Hopefully, that'll sort that for you. :-)

Glad your still enjoying the car, recently got mine back after the engine work and new seat and thought I would of fallen out of love with it, but I haven't and the car as a package is hard to beat. The subtle mods make this car more appealing! Have you updated the Revo software after fitting the intercooler? Normally have to be remapped after fitting something like that!
Cheers! The software has not been updated just yet. The world of Fiesta tuning is generally performed with generic ECU mapping as this allows for more in depth testing and a more reliable end product. However all of the performance enhancing hardware fitted to the car is not officially supported by the Revo Software on the car, but should be supported by their next software package... which has yet to be released. Hey Johnny, do you think that the induction kit and intercooler could've reduced power output? A lot of people I know told me that a cone filter isn't necessarily a good thing with a stock map because the car wouldn't know how to use the large quantity of air and of higher temperature. You have the Revo map tho, so this worries me. Could you do a run with the stock intake box? Maybe it's really "impeding" power
Jeremy Clarkson Hi there, not entirely sure the intake is to blame here. The car has been run at over 260hp with the intake. At the time, this was the most powerful MK8 run to date and cars with the stock air box were down on power. Doing some intake comparisons on the Dyno does sound like it could be a good video though - so I’ll see what I can do to sort that 😎
@@JBCTR Thanks! What do you think of the motor mount now that many months have passed? I've just recently bought the MK8 ST and I'm interested in modding it like you did, I've also seen your posts on Reddit so I know you're pretty active on this stuff
Jeremy Clarkson The motor mount is a great upgrade. It makes a real difference (I did a video if you’ve not seen it!) There have been some failures on them, but I’ve not been affected by them 👍🏼
Hi Johnny, Thanks for all your lovely videos! Do you know if all the 2019/2020 models also sound as good as yours, with overrun and all that? New regulations regarding particular filters was imlemented on EU cars late 2018. For example, the VW Polo GTI’s sound crap now 🤕 cheers
Hi mate, they should do! All ST's (including mine) have a GPF fitted and the overrun is programmed as part of the ECU tune from factory. My car is running Revo software which has slightly enhanced the overrun, but you'll still get it as a stock car. I also have the Milltek exhaust which of course makes it louder too.
JB CTR thanks for your kind response. I feel even more confident, that the Fiesta is my next car (upgrading from my current R32 mk5). 🚀 Your videoes play a Big part in my buying descision, you should be paid by Ford 😂👍🏼 I will add the milltek ASAP and might go with a Revo Tune as well. But i am just nervous about loosing the warranty - whats your thoughts on that? Revo vs Warranty?
Emil Wilkens glad you are enjoying them! Warranty is a very grey area. Generally speaking, Ford are one of the more lenient manufacturers (in my opinion) with modifications. The stance they tend to take is that you’ll only invalidate you warranty on the parts that are impacted by your modifications. So if you modify, you don’t totally lose your warranty. 👍🏼
JB CTR your welcome. It is also the engine warranty i am mostly concerned about - as i expect the engine to be the most expensive, complex and critical parts of a car. 🙈 but thanks for your feedback man. Keep pushing out vids on that beast you got there
I think the bigger intercooler needs to mapped to your current calibration mate...otherwise the ECU will make no changers to the mod :) Also disappointing that MK8 has the same issue with soft paint like the MK7 ST, I just keep 25 car lengths form the traffic in front LOL
19marshall80 Officially yes it does, but it was mainly installed ready for stage 2 softwares 😁 The Revo software does adjust slightly to hardware changes which is why there are slight gains to be had on this software. The intake is where the biggest hardware gains are to be had with a ‘stage 1’ software
Johnny, I have Revo+Milltek and I noticed in your videos that when you shift down gears you are getting pops and bangs, I only seem to get these bangs when I’m up shifting with the revs at 4K+ Should I be getting these bangs when I downshift with the overrun? Or are you rev matching when you downshift to create the bangs? Cheers
Loved ur wee video man. But that was a bit of a bummer with the 10 - down was well expecting it to be higher would love to see a follow up on it. But yeah a thumbs 👍up from me on the vid
JB CTR looking forward to it, I’m 17 and just got a fiesta as my first car and I adore the ST, and I can tell by the roads you live in my area so I’ll keep my eye out for you :)
Been so indecisive on cars and the GTIs are so steep in price and I would be probs annoyed I skimped on the performance pack and whether manual or DSG is the choice lol. Is this fiesta worth the money? The rear end puts me off the whole design though IMO lol. This is the colour grey I want in general too.
There are pretty significant discounts to be had on these if you hunt around, which makes them a fair bit cheaper than their competitors. This is my second Fiesta ST and I certainly don't regret buying it.
So I made my rims copper, and installed the milltek exhaust with burnt titanium tips. But I am still thinking about the stage 1... Help me out on making this choice D:
Love the videos I've been watching with interest I have the same car colour and 2 door st2. I saw one of your vidds the drivers seat went a little saggy? Have you got it fixed? Also any warranty claims?
Pepe hansome At the moment, around 250/260. Research is ongoing in to different software/hardware configurations to find more power. I’m sure it won’t be long :)
Nice video yet again.👍 I know its personal choice, but get rid of these rally flaps. 🙈 Regards the dyno, what fuel where you using? Might of got a bit more on a higher octane. Would you now say the intercooler is worth the £500+ for no gain?
The car is run exclusively on 99 RON 👍🏼 I would still 100% recommend the cooler. From behind the wheel, it feels mega to drive - significantly faster than with the stock cooler, and of course it prepares the car for more horses later down the line.
I'm so jealous I want a mk8 e door so bad I'm in the states we have the MK7.5 4 door (5) including hatch they look so good I have the 7.5 Molten Orange
Nice vid mate! How much torque did it make when it put down 252hp. I would like to do the same mods to my mk8 st, which powermod do you recemend to do first ?
Don’t forget the forced pop-ups when you start the car.. start your Ford and press ok, ok, ok.. change setting 1, ok, ok, change setting 2, ok, ok. ...
Keith Mondor Hi mate, they are just the standard ones that come with the ST3, but I’ve wrapped the diamond cut parts in gold. Here’s a how to: ua-cam.com/video/7T860PPthKQ/v-deo.html
I really enjoy your videos! Keep them up. I'm also Driving the Fiesta MK8 ST3 in the performance blue color. Love the little thing. Not really in to modding, but i think yours still looks great with the small modifications. Myself I might also replace my fog-lights. Never understood why they place yellow bulps in them while using the LED headlights...
Are you aware of all the problems this car is having? I'm an ST owner, since June 2019, only 4 months and my car has a minimal oil leak and the steering column problem as well. Does your's have or had this before? Aren't you worried that you lost the warranty? You also mentioned the rattling plastics, but there I agree, it doesn't annoy me anymore, as the car is brilliant to drive. Also, do you recommend a Milltek exhaust with or without GPF? I was waiting for Mountune, but they take forever to release their products.. Nice video as usual!
Pedro Figueiredo Hi mate, yup there’s a small portion of them with issues. Always the way with a new car. They’ll get sorted 😁 I’ve got the GPF back exhaust and it is more than loud enough for me, and still legal 😎
@@alistairsmyth9792 hi mate, it wasn't an oil leak after all (said Ford), just some residue that was cleaned and never appeared again, but the first engines made till February 19 are prone to have oil leaks, near the alternator. My steering column had to be replaced, under warranty.
KW springs are a little firmer than stock as you'd expect but certainly not back breaking. I've dailied the car for over 15000 miles with the springs on now and still happy with them. Bang for buck, they are brilliant.
Scotty K Not at all. It’s pretty much bang on the money to be fair. It would have been optimistic for the old 1.6T engines, but the new 1.5 engines respond way better to just a remap. There are hundreds of stock cars out there hitting 245/250hp with no hardware. Multiple cars, multiple tuners & multiple dyno’s 👌🏼
@@JBCTR awesome car and those are simple bolt on stock turbo and good gas to hit those numbers to the wheels?! The 1.6 full bolt on and E30 wouldnt even hit those numbers for power. I do love how it sounds you did will with the looks. quick question if there is one whats the weight difference between the 7 and 8?
Thanks - Hard to say exactly as the modifications have been added gradually over the past year or so. Current mileage on the car is approaching 20,000 and the Revo software has been on for over 10,000 of those miles.
Nothing wrong with the car. You’ve just added a new cooler thinking it’ll increase bhp in its own. It needs stage 2 for that to be utilised and increase figures. Right now that cooler isn’t doing much more then the stock one.
Love the vids! Really making me want to trade in my mk3 octy vrs for a fiesta st. You have done a fair few upgrades but i was wondering what your thoughts were regarding warranty?
maddogdragracing I’m not entirely sure it is the cooler. Other vehicles have made power with the larger cooler. As gains are so good with just software, the stock cooler can get heat soaked (shown by thermal cameras). Weirdly, it also feels faster from behind the wheel.

Jeremy Clarkson The motor mount is a great upgrade. It makes a real difference (I did a video if you’ve not seen it!) There have been some failures on them, but I’ve not been affected by them 👍🏼
@@JBCTR Thanks again!
Yeah I've seen the video and that's why I'm interested in buying one now.
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for all your lovely videos!
🚀 Your videoes play a Big part in my buying descision, you should be paid by Ford 😂👍🏼
I will add the milltek ASAP and might go with a Revo Tune as well.
Keep pushing out vids on that beast you got there
i wonder if 'tubodynamics' have come up with a hybrid turbo for the mk8 yet. i had to wait 18 months for them to develop it for the 1 litre ecoboot.
TheJeremyevans Looking forward to what they come up with 😉
Regarding the SYNC 3 navi- did you succes getting the F8 map on?
Bo Jensen I’ve not updated Sync 3 yet as it is still working fine 🤣 I may have a stab over the coming months.
Wish the US could get these cars again.
Get mine 2 weeks today... Can't wait.
Lemming1970 Enjoy it! 🚗💨
I think the bigger intercooler needs to mapped to your current calibration mate...otherwise the ECU will make no changers to the mod :)
Also disappointing that MK8 has the same issue with soft paint like the MK7 ST, I just keep 25 car lengths form the traffic in front LOL
Johnny, I have Revo+Milltek and I noticed in your videos that when you shift down gears you are getting pops and bangs, I only seem to get these bangs when I’m up shifting with the revs at 4K+
Should I be getting these bangs when I downshift with the overrun?
Or are you rev matching when you downshift to create the bangs?
Cheers
Maca0716 All about the rev match 👌🏼 the best overrun is to be found there haha
Loved ur wee video man. But that was a bit of a bummer with the 10 - down was well expecting it to be higher would love to see a follow up on it. But yeah a thumbs 👍up from me on the vid
Cheers mate :D
@JB CTR What about the engine ? Is it reliable ? And avg fuel consuption?
jordan paok Had no problems. Averaging around 40mpg 👍🏼
Where did you get your number plates made up at?
Demon Plates. Expensive, but good quality!
What's the overall price of the car with all of the modifications factored in?
Tom Law This question is answered in tonight’s video - live at 18:00 UK time :)
JB CTR looking forward to it, I’m 17 and just got a fiesta as my first car and I adore the ST, and I can tell by the roads you live in my area so I’ll keep my eye out for you :)
May be a stupid equation but why do all cars that have been modified use shell petrol etc
99 Octane = bigger bang. Can use Tesco momentum too.
Did you have the Milltek-exhaust before or After the 262hp?
What fuel you are Running?
Heard a lot that the Milltek eat some HP....
malagutino 99 RON fuel and both runs had the Milltek on. I’ve not heard of people losing HP with a GPF-back before :)
JB CTR tanks, was something else fitted After the first run?
Been so indecisive on cars and the GTIs are so steep in price and I would be probs annoyed I skimped on the performance pack and whether manual or DSG is the choice lol. Is this fiesta worth the money? The rear end puts me off the whole design though IMO lol. This is the colour grey I want in general too.
There are pretty significant discounts to be had on these if you hunt around, which makes them a fair bit cheaper than their competitors. This is my second Fiesta ST and I certainly don't regret buying it.
Car looks great man. What spacers have you got on there ? I have a mk7.5 and what to achieve a similar look.
Alex Allkins Theyre 20mm all round. Did a fitting video here if of interest. ua-cam.com/video/uwsUYgPFx10/v-deo.html
So I made my rims copper, and installed the milltek exhaust with burnt titanium tips. But I am still thinking about the stage 1... Help me out on making this choice D:
Tobie Eve Watch my videos again 🤣 wheels are looking superb mate. Thanks for sending in the picture!
Has the car been reliable? Any oil leaks or anything like a lot of them have been having? What mileage you sitting at?
SASR Firestorm Hi mate, the car is great and I’m just approaching 20,000 miles 😎
Love the videos I've been watching with interest I have the same car colour and 2 door st2. I saw one of your vidds the drivers seat went a little saggy? Have you got it fixed? Also any warranty claims?
Kevin Parr Nope, not fixed yet! I will get it done one day... it sagged but then didn’t really get any worse.
Just a quick question how long have your front tires lasted ..mines totally standard so far ...
john dickinson First set 8000 miles. Second set, approaching 10,000 but they’re pretty spent. Still legal, but not performing that well!
@@JBCTR thanks for the reply ...keep up the videos they are always very informative ..
john dickinson Cheers, glad you are enjoying them!
Which is the most and stable amount of horsepower you can get in this engine?
Pepe hansome At the moment, around 250/260. Research is ongoing in to different software/hardware configurations to find more power. I’m sure it won’t be long :)
Gracias!!
So not issues with revo software?
Andy Nothing at all 👍🏼
what wrap have you used on the head lights?
No wrap - they are completely stock :)
So you don't regret buying it then?
m ws Not at all - it’s a great car!
Nice video yet again.👍
I know its personal choice, but get rid of these rally flaps. 🙈
Regards the dyno, what fuel where you using?
Might of got a bit more on a higher octane.
Would you now say the intercooler is worth the £500+ for no gain?
The car is run exclusively on 99 RON 👍🏼 I would still 100% recommend the cooler. From behind the wheel, it feels mega to drive - significantly faster than with the stock cooler, and of course it prepares the car for more horses later down the line.
What size spacers did you put on??
PuppyUnicorn They’re 20mm. Fitting video here: ua-cam.com/video/uwsUYgPFx10/v-deo.html
I'm so jealous I want a mk8 e door so bad I'm in the states we have the MK7.5 4 door (5) including hatch they look so good I have the 7.5 Molten Orange
Yeah I want the MK8 idk if u stopped by my channel but it's so much better than my car and ur 3 door it's not fair lol
Nice vid mate! How much torque did it make when it put down 252hp. I would like to do the same mods to my mk8 st, which powermod do you recemend to do first ?
Pieter R Just over 300 ftlb 👍🏼 for power, definitely the Revo software. It can be run on a stock car.
Don’t forget the forced pop-ups when you start the car.. start your Ford and press ok, ok, ok.. change setting 1, ok, ok, change setting 2, ok, ok. ...
oil consume
?
Just found this great video, what rims are those?!
I need help with wheels and tires, this is my first car i've ever wanted to mod.
Keith Mondor Hi mate, they are just the standard ones that come with the ST3, but I’ve wrapped the diamond cut parts in gold. Here’s a how to:
ua-cam.com/video/7T860PPthKQ/v-deo.html
What are you averaging MPG?
ElusiveNomad About 36mpg. Can hit 50 on the motorway if you are sensible :)
To be honest I used to get rattles in my '18 Mini JCW within a few weeks and that car was just over £30k
Yeah, unfortunately I think it's a modern car phenomena.
Is that 252bhp at the wheels?
Calculated fly.
Michel Verbaas Thanks mate! The fogs may be the start of a very slippery modification slope haha!
Is this standard ride height or has it been lowered? Cheers
The car is lowered on 20mm springs and 20mm spacers. Lowering springs fitting is below:
ua-cam.com/video/AYPfSIJZdzQ/v-deo.html
@@JBCTR Thanks for the response!
They’ll get sorted 😁 I’ve got the GPF back exhaust and it is more than loud enough for me, and still legal 😎
my car has an oil leak as well its been in the local ford garage 2 months im losing the will to live .Where is your leak mate?
@@alistairsmyth9792 hi mate, it wasn't an oil leak after all (said Ford), just some residue that was cleaned and never appeared again, but the first engines made till February 19 are prone to have oil leaks, near the
alternator. My steering column had to be replaced, under warranty.
Hey pedro did your car also smell through the ventilation?
@@lemmykoopah Nope
Dont go chasing figures if the car is healthy as it'll just take the fun out of the car 👍🏻. How is the car riding on the kw springs?
KW springs are a little firmer than stock as you'd expect but certainly not back breaking. I've dailied the car for over 15000 miles with the springs on now and still happy with them. Bang for buck, they are brilliant.
250 brake from induction kit exhaust and a remap. Very loose figures or optimistic dyno
I do love how it sounds
you did will with the looks.
quick question if there is one whats the weight difference between the 7 and 8?
totally agree
Hey! Nice video mate, could you please tell me how many miles did you do with 260+ hp? Did you have any huge engine problems?
Thanks - Hard to say exactly as the modifications have been added gradually over the past year or so. Current mileage on the car is approaching 20,000 and the Revo software has been on for over 10,000 of those miles.
Sync 4 announced last week. Starts appearing next year.
Cougarsamurai Woohoo! 😬
Jake McCloud They all affect the warranty in different ways!
yo, what fuel are you using ?
Nick VPower 👍🏼
Need to remove that larger intercooler to find that 10hp and restore torque and midrange , or get a custom tune. My sync 3 works fine with android ;)
maddogdragracing I’m not entirely sure it is the cooler. Other vehicles have made power with the larger cooler. As gains are so good with just software, the stock cooler can get heat soaked (shown by thermal cameras). Weirdly, it also feels faster from behind the wheel.
@@JBCTR easy to find out . Fit a bigger "bucket" and it takes longer to fill. Butt dynos are rarely calibrated and cannot be trusted ;)
@@JBCTR look for loose clamps. You might have small boost leak.
