Mountune was and is always known for reliable, factory approved upgrade solutions that bumped the power up a notch without loosing the waranty (at least with the lower tier packages). I'm sure that they could get at least the same power as REVO out of the engine but they're certainly aiming for a factory approved package with the M225 (even if it's currently not covered by waranty) so they won't go crazy with the mods. Waranty and proven reliability explains the higher price tag as well.
i spoke to a ford dealer the other day while ordering a fiesta and asked about mods and they said that even though they will fit the kit for you they dont actually warranty it. might be worth checking the facts on this before getting it

FYI JB CTR there is a forgot your passcode option in the mountune app to reset the device and yes you can use our ECU Connect App with the Mountune Bluetooth interface. It allows you to see a lot more of what's going on with plenty of parameters to log and create your own dashboards, read and clear DTCs plus it gives you a performance meter you can have fun with.

I wonder if you can help me i purchased a used car where the previous owner allegedly installed tge mountune remap m235 but he lost the bluetooth dongle , so I have a car here I don't know if its on stick mode or in tge m235 remap mode and was wonder if I could use your Bluetooth dongle and access the files and switch them on or off , any help and guidance appreciated
Great day out filming, Johnny is a top lad and had alot of fun out in the cars. I'm 100% up for some more comparisons between the two although I need to spend some money on tyres now. If anyone has any questions about the mountune kit happy to answer
@@Thorakable yes it's very easy to switch between the maps you just plug it in the obd port connect your phone and select the map you want, usually takes a couple of mins to change maps. The device doesn't need to be in all the time once in and uploaded you can pack it away, it's a nice stage 1 map irons out flat spots and as Johnny said it's more about the torque then the horsepower with this engine.
@@RevoHQ yes I did try out the revo car, very impressed with what you guys have done it feels very similar to the mountune one but the revo pulls a little harder and higher up the rev range. I didn't think there was much in it up to 50 to 60 but then the revo car started to pull away it's very strong in 4th gear.

Ahh I was really hoping the Mountune kit would be warranty friendly... As it's not I'm not sure I'm gonna go for a remap, at least for the time being. Still unsure on how reliable this little 3 pot is gonna be so I want to play it safe as I don't have the money to be shelling out on new head gaskets etc...Also people thinking that the Mountune 'flash to stock' thing is a safe bet, you're still going to have their airbox installed, which I'm sure Ford will try to use against you if you need to get anything done on the warranty, so make sure you keep the original airbox and slap that on if you need to take it in... Thanks for the review Jonny, best person to do it really as you've had the Revo map for so long now! Maybe would have liked to see some 0-60 times in there. Any chance of a 0-60 time in your car without extra passengers and all the camera equipment? Bet that thing rips through first and second off a launch!
Matt Rosell Hi mate, I’ve been playing with 0-60’s for a while but I’ve always struggled with the launch... I’ve managed a few runs under 6s, but I’m sure with a decent driver (not me - lol!) a better time is achievable :)

To add my thoughts I believe it will be a hit if it gets warranty from Ford. Thing is a lot of us in the Ford scene reckon the likes of the revo are much better recently and you pretty much sold it for me in that video for yours ;)

It will void your Ford 3 yr warranty! As will any remap. Not a good idea to to do whilst you are still within that cover period! .Car is plenty quick for most in stock,although I wouldn’t rule out a remap “ for additional fun when mine expires 😊
The car probably isn't as loud as the Mountune release video seeing as they have led people on to believe it was with a standard exhaust when you can clearly see later in the video, the same car is shown in a different location with more upgrades on it including an exhaust which has a bigger bore that stock and mudguards. All in development I'm sure but not available yet so not the true sound of the car with just the M225 pack.
BJJohnstone Just watched the video again and you are entirely correct - there is a different exhaust on it! Slightly misleading as there is no mention of the other upgrades in the video, just the M225 package.
As replied in the other thread you’ve mentioned this, we film content at various stages of development and there is a performance exhaust on the way. The exhaust audible performance is noticeably different with nothing other than the m225 installed - JB even mentioned how much louder / different it sounded in this video, despite his obvious scepticism.
Great vid mate, in regards to the draggy times they are so close because like you said the torque figures are really close to each other. A longer bit of road and the extra horsepower of the revo would pull further ahead. It’s just a question of how long the road needs to be in a realistic day to day scenario and not a autobahn length road lol
HearthJunkie If you are about driver experience, then the difference is more than enough to be noticeable behind the wheel. That said, if you’ve not driven a car from another brand, you’d never know. And equally, it’s not every day you drag race a different tuner 🤷🏼♀️
JB CTR yeah completely understand the power delivery is different. Best way if you ever did decide to show it to your audience is with two maps on a dyno and compare the graphs. Not to show figures, but to show the actual graph. That way showing where they peak at rpm wise how much difference it is at that rpm etc etc. That way showing what you feel in the car in a visual way for your audience.
Great video thanks think the revo is the way forward. Out of interest was hoping to get a fiesta st soon but will probably have to be a five door for family and more wrong for my dog. Does the 5 door feel any different from the 3 door as I've had a test drive but only the 3 door?
Mountunes figures have always been less than the competitors but they’ve always had the warranty to back them up. If they can’t for whatever reason get this kit approved then more people will probably go elsewhere for more ponies
It's always about the Horsepower... the Torque is merely a tool to get good horsepower at any revs. ... Horsepower = TORQUE x REVS Good Video by the way... bad Christmas jumper though....LoL I would suspect that the Mountune update will provide better longevity for the engine over the Revo... but most people will not give a hoot about longevity. Can you tell me... do you think Ford will eventually support the Mountune 225 under warranty...?
Looking at that small difference in pull times between the maps: seems that your own time should have been even better, since you have a non-standard exhaust, which should give you more power.

That said, the additional power is not from the exhaust as the two main restrictions (cat and GPF) are still in tact 👍🏼
When returning to the stock map, is this identifiable by Ford for warranty work/servicing? Always heard conflicting information on this - guess it comes down to if Ford can identify maps having been written to the ECU, and whether they would....
R H ECU’s do have a counter on them for the number of times they have been modified. Dealers may not be able to detect what that modification was, but the fact it’s been changed and put back to normal may sway a warranty decision. That said, I’ve not heard of any examples whereby this has been used to reject a warranty claim. I hope this helps!
You can buy Revo stage 1 with SPS and a decent induction kit for the same price or less. It's Revo stage 1 and a Cotton/ foam filter induction kit everyday👍

Yep I was hoping it would be like the MP215 on the MK7 Thing is, all remap void your warranty and most folk have these cars on PCP but still choose to mod them and whilst in warranty, that’s surely very risky ? I think the MK8 is plenty quick enough in stock for British roads anyway.
I need his help the previous owner lost the mountune dongle and I have a car with the mountune on it but I don't know if it on tge remap or in stock mode and cannot find out unless I had that bluetooth dongle , could you kindly ask your dad what my best option is and could mountune get me a replacement dongle and how much ? As such, there’s too many variables in a 0-60 run which makes it difficult to use that figure as a comparison - that’s why 30-70 has been used here :)

guitartrue For me personally, I’d take the new Fiesta any day. Little to no maintenance, warranty and improved fuel consumption. That said, I only have one car and I’d hate to daily a MK1 RS.
guitartrue I’ve driven a MK3 RS a good few times as I very nearly bought one. It wasn’t as fun as the Fiesta at legal road speeds though, which is why I went for the Fiesta. The RS is super capable, but perhaps a little too capable for the road 😁
They’re 30-70 times as 0-60 depends too much on driver skill getting the car off the line. 30-70 is a far more repeatable test of vehicle performance :)
So true. 0-60mph depends on so much little things. 30-70mph is much more comparable. I did a 5.26s for 30-70mph, also measured with dragy. My ST is still completely stock.

It's also one of the most popular, so of course there will be the odd few with issues - they made hundreds of thousands of them. The RS issue is old news now. Ford released a fix, and there have been no engine failures since. Either way, I've no idea how the reliability of any of these cars is linked to my MK8 which is a new platform, with a new engine. So far, its not missed a beat, despite being modified ;)
I have a mk 7 fiesta stage 2 collins performance with mountune air filter and charge pipe kit, also with upgraded exhaust, springs and engine mount, the car is running 238 BHP, most reliable car I've ever owned.
Oh come off it! Just say it, the M225 package is a complete rip off and is way more expensive than it should be. It’s not even warranty approved, warranty was why Mountune could justify their price premium in the past. Furthermore, why are they offering a mobile phone app to change a cars state of tune? Last time I checked, it’s 6 points on your licence for using your mobile phone whilst driving... Suspect it’s just a marketing ploy because some people are easily excitable 🤷♂️ Thanks for providing this content, just wish you’d have said what I could see you wanted to say the entire video. George Ellis Are you an imbecile?! Do you know how mapping works? The map is changed via the app while the car is standing still and the engine is off. Did you see their measures times? The Revo tune is supposed to have 30 hp more and more NM, but is minimally faster, it’s negligible.

Ford have dropped Mountune from doing approved packages on new sports models now, Ford Performance are planning on taking over that side.

The mountune map is a tad slower for a reason .. Don't listen to this wally.
Fiesta new or used Focus RS mk1?
guitartrue For me personally, I’d take the new Fiesta any day. Little to no maintenance, warranty and improved fuel consumption. That said, I only have one car and I’d hate to daily a MK1 RS.

guitartrue I’ve driven a MK3 RS a good few times as I very nearly bought one. It wasn’t as fun as the Fiesta at legal road speeds though, which is why I went for the Fiesta. The RS is super capable, but perhaps a little too capable for the road 😁

Pumaspeed has a 1.6 kit, the full engine and some other stuff, for the MK8 with 355hp, but it's expensive as fuck...

They’re 30-70 times as 0-60 depends too much on driver skill getting the car off the line. 30-70 is a far more repeatable test of vehicle performance :)
So true. 0-60mph depends on so much little things. 30-70mph is much more comparable. I did a 5.26s for 30-70mph, also measured with dragy. My ST is still completely stock.

strange how the road tax for the first year of this model is £210 and then drops to £140 thereafter.
TheJeremyevans That’s new vehicle tax laws from April 2017 - not just this model. The first years tax is based on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle, then it drops to £140 per year for all petrol and diesel cars (with a list price of less than £40,000).
jesus....i’m jealous guys, here in Italy road tax is based on HP (Kw). For a 250HP is 580€ each year, and if you overcome that...well, it’s 20€ for EACH Kw + the 580€. i’m sad :(

@@ashcosmo3854 These reddit posts nearly all relate to the MK7, which is considered to be one of the most reliable hot hatches on the market. It's also one of the most popular, so of course there will be the odd few with issues - they made hundreds of thousands of them. The RS issue is old news now. Ford released a fix, and there have been no engine failures since. Either way, I've no idea how the reliability of any of these cars is linked to my MK8 which is a new platform, with a new engine. So far, its not missed a beat, despite being modified ;)
I have a mk 7 fiesta stage 2 collins performance with mountune air filter and charge pipe kit, also with upgraded exhaust, springs and engine mount, the car is running 238 BHP, most reliable car I've ever owned.
Oh come off it! Just say it, the M225 package is a complete rip off and is way more expensive than it should be. It’s not even warranty approved, warranty was why Mountune could justify their price premium in the past. Furthermore, why are they offering a mobile phone app to change a cars state of tune? Last time I checked, it’s 6 points on your licence for using your mobile phone whilst driving... Suspect it’s just a marketing ploy because some people are easily excitable 🤷♂️ Thanks for providing this content, just wish you’d have said what I could see you wanted to say the entire video. Perhaps because the car owner was in the car with you felt you couldn’t call M225 package owners mugs or anything haha. Thanks
George Ellis Are you an imbecile?! Do you know how mapping works? The map is changed via the app while the car is standing still and the engine is off.
Did you see their measures times? The Revo tune is supposed to have 30 hp more and more NM, but is minimally faster, it’s negligible.

In answer to your second question, I have a basic understanding of mapping works however I'm not an engineer like you, or would have others believe. I don't actually remember mentioning power figures in my comment, having read it again, I didn't.
