Wynn has such a cool and complex system yet they never explain it in the game
tbf, it is pretty hard to do it in a way that's immersive, but yeah, pain.

Elemental Exercise is a great quest for No Bank Lv.25 speedruns though...

Also does this mean that I could in theory power through tough enemies with a fast enough Lv.20 elemental weapon if they just have a strong enough weakness?

They finally added an explanation of elemental damage and defense in 2.0.3, no more ambiguity yay

That one time I got pissed by Earth mobs so I made a 11683 Earth def total setup
tfw mobs don't deal enough ele damage for it to fully work

I have been trying to ask for a while, but I'll ask it here since it's not specified in this video either. How does positive player elemental defense interact with spells on mobs (including how defense interacts with that number as well)? If it is purely a flat reduction after the spell is used (i.e. the spell multiplier increases the damage, then any possible defense sp decreases that damage, then positive defenses get factored) then I guess they truly are useless, but with most bosses now (allegedly) having converted a good portion of their damage from neutral->elemental (some of which I know for a fact do, such as boss altars and dungeons, hive bosses, etc.) it may make a difference depending on how it works.
It's exactly as expected (Defense happens, then eledef happens BUT remember to consider spell mult for eledef)
Hopefully they get more useful as damage gets altered, I guess.

Question: where in the elemental damage calculations does the player's natural/Skill point defense come into play? Before or After additive/subtractive Elemental Defense Calculation? Lets say in a hypothetical situation a mob that deals 200 water damage attacks an Assassin with a water defense of -100 and 147 defense sp (80% damage reduction). Depending on when elemental defense calculation is, the assassin either takes 60 damage if ele defs is before defense's 80% reduction or 140 damage if ele defs is after defense's 80% reduction.
Well first of all, it was talked about that negative eledef bonus damage bypasses defense (after). Likewise, positive eledef reduction is after def.
What is that warrior build, i just bought one and still died very fast to the eye.

based because eledefs don't matter for 99% of gameplay
if i have 0 defense anyway does negative eledef not do anything harmful
