I resonate with the "minecraft wasn't hard, it was just new" When I first joined my sensitivity was MAX so I was spinning constantly at night while hundreds of mobs were everywhere. It was hilarious.
Few days ago I played one of the old CTM maps on MC 1.2.5. I remembered it as a super hardcore challenge, dying all the time, getting overwhelmed with mobs and never actually finishing it. It was a breeze this time. Died just a few times and when I blundered it was due to the old stuff that was new to me again (double tap sprint, one block deep water not preventing damage) and old bugs (ghasts aggroing and mobs hitting you trough blocks). I don't even consider myself a skilled player, but it was wayyy too easier then I remembered. Minecraft isn't easier nowadays, we just got better at it.

Edit: they (as in the community) also complain about realism in a pixelated game with dragons. For example, the reason fireflies were not added is because the community would constantly talk about how fireflies kill frogs in real life. Some (not all) players are the opposite. They talk about how updates are “not Minecrafty enough” and how an update should get patched out because of it.
It's a valid point that restriction breeds creativity. If you could simply place furniture or worse, place an entire house prefab, Minecraft would be a different game, it would be uncreative. Restrictions, on the other hand, force you to use your brain in order to come up with novel solutions to problems. That is the definition of creativity. I don't even agree that there should be fewer blocks, I think a wide palette of blocks is a good middle ground between restrictive and mindless. But it is also true that more blocks mean builds become less visually cohesive, and therefore a certain visual identity and style is lost. This, by the way, is why many people love old MS Paint and hate the idea of updates to it. Old Minecraft has the charm of MS Paint, new Minecraft has the efficiency of Photoshop.
In my opinion, I just find it overwhelming. When I look at the list of blocks in the creative inventory, it makes it feel like whatever I make needs to live up to a certain standard. In Beta, if I build a simple cobblestone castle, it feels like it fits in with the surrounding world, while it feels so out-of-place in a modern MC world. You might say that that's a very subjective view of this debate, and... well... yes. This is a debate over personal preference. I think Beta has some strengths over the modern game, and the modern game has some strengths over Beta. One of the videos that this guy lists off at the start does a perfect take on this, and yet this video is acting like all Beta MC videos are saying "Modern MC is horrible, and Beta is superior!" No, that's not what all those videos are saying.
@@SmellyHam i feel survival mode is inherently restrictive since getting a sizable quantity of blocks usually requires setting up a farm for the specified object. maybe its just me but when i want to create massive or intricate builds i usually find i dont have everything i want/need, thus requiring me to go out and find them or trade with my friends. sipovers "ice cream flavor" analogy kinda fits for creative since almost every block is packed into a neat little menu, but modern minecraft actually has more than one biome now, so in survival, you, get this, have to go on an *adventure*! even if its just over to the desert to grab some cactus or a quick portal to the warped forest, the abundance of new blocks and biomes encourages you to explore and try them out, but i suppose thats to much effort on sipovers part.
I'm convinced people who complain about how easy it is to beat the ender dragon don't actually like playing minecraft, they like beating games. Minecraft's purpose has NEVER been to beat the dragon asap, it's always been about creatively turning your world into your home, into a place you can call yours.

Most are just saying "use an unofficial bedrock launcher", which I feel misses the point, as console players are entirely unable to go back to previous versions of Bedrock. Also, no, I personally don't count the Legacy Console versions as "playing an older version" due to them being vastly different to Bedrock and being conpletely replaced by Bedrock for modern-day console versions.

But in new minecraft, the progression you have to do is not forced; Just find a village and you have access to nearly all items in the game. If skyblock started in a village, there would be no progression, you'd just make one farm and you have access to all blocks. Basicailly, saying that skyblock's progression is good doesn't contradict anything

I am someone, who plays MC beta 1.7.3. The last version before the hunger change. I find it much more calming because of the lack of random features and the emptiness. In new versions you have villages, mansions and so on. But i still like newer versions because of the new building blocks(andesite my beloved)

i feel like these people who complain about new minecraft just miss being kids discovering and exploring, like imagine how cool it would be to find an deep dark and then an ancient city without knowing what it is. the rush of spawning a warden for the first time with your friends, realising it is bloind and managing to survive, or the trial chambers, imagine how scared you as a child would be if u accidentally discoverd it whilst having bad omen.
This. This is the exact issue. Kids who play the game have fun discovering the new stuff for the first time. Stuff we call new, but that they will eventually call "old". And they'll say they miss the Minecraft we currently have, when they are adults. It's a cycle of "I miss this" yet everyone fails to see the beauty of what something nostalgic has become. I think that, besides the stuff with C418, what Minecraft has become is actually pretty amazing. Comparing the oldest and newest versions shows how such project evolve so fast. Minecraft is infinite adventure...and we all hardly scratch the surface of it, even WITH tons of mods.

At 6:47 you can see he gets the achievement "stone age". ...except that was never an achievement and got added with advancements, meaning he's using a resource pack. You can also see him unlocking recipes in the recipe book in the top right corner, proving you can play skyblock on newer versions, and the fact he is playing on 1.12+ probably means he prefers it.

Honestly i've always thought old minecraft was better, yet I only play on the newest versions, bc ngl, the only real reason I liked older minecraft was because there was so phew blocks that I didn't have to get good at building. I could slap down a couple of blocks and it would actually look good for it's time, nowadays I actually do have to learn how to build. Also there are just alot of amazing features which I couldn't play the game without, swimming, sprinting, hunger, elytras, better nether, better terrain genaration, better villagers, lots of useful enchantments too. So many things I just can't play the game without.

Same, I don't even build houses, I just make piles on the ground of chests and other important blocks, and surround them with torches to keep the mobs away lol Also, I love the new biomes in Minecraft so much. My main complaint with new Minecraft is that these new additions are too rare and hard to find. When Slipover complained about the cool biomes for stupid reasons, I actually got mad. (Side note: when I typed Sipover, my phone autocorrected it to Slipover, maybe my phone is trying to tell me something XD)

@theunholybanana4745 Well, yes. Restrictions force one to work with what they have and be more creative. However, diversity also helps one expand their creativity. Now, instead of one block that works best for a situation (like glowstone, for example), there are many to choose from (frog lights, sea lantern, etc.) It allows more choice and creativity there, whilst still having a good balance of restrictions. If you look into the Minecraft design bible (it can be found publicly), you will know they intentionally avoid making a "do everything" block.
@@foresthillwolf7998 that's what I mean by reliant, without creativity the old versions have nothing, without creativity the new versions have multiple dungeons and minibosses along with 2 actual bosses as well as a whole host of farms to create and optimise and collectables to collect. With creativity the old versions has sick builds and defense, the new versions have that on top of an ever expanding array of redstone contraptions to build, a much larger range of building blocks, dozens ways to customise your armour, and infinitely many maps to play or build and share it with people.

I hate when people talk about this, because while yes you can play older versions easily in the minecraft launcher, as time goes on and the minecraft servers update older versions only give more errors. Some versions are now unplayable because of this forcing players to use alternative launchers.

All of these "Old Minecraft good, new Minecraft bad" videos really make me feel like these people don't understand what Minecraft is, it seems like they come in expecting a rpg or something similar, when Minecraft is a sandbox game, the point of sandboxes aren't to "complete" the game, they're to explore and have your creativity run wild
The only takeaway I actually full on agree with from those "old Minecraft was better" video's is that beds and villages being too easy to obtain/find severely damages any intrinsic desire to do anything. Once you have beds, there's no reason to make a pretty base, or even a base at all, since beds just let you skip the night. And villages just halt almost all desire to explore, since you have everything you need _right there._

The problem is it’s worthless. Half the things added are worthless like polar bears, foxes, berry bushes and more so it’s less like an adventure and more like a walk through the English countryside as you will see a lot but it will be underwhelming and worthless. No reason to do mansions as raids give you totems and no reason to do trail chambers as the hammer is over kill ( no point killing the warden. On my recent play through with my friend after years of not playing we just did the exact same thing as normal as even when I tried to interact with new features I just got an inventory full of different coloured, but worthless blocks as a reward. Exact for the new caves as they are cool as they actually change a part of progression. What’s happened with Minecraft is like what’s happened with Yandere Sim with the same core barely being changed but a shit ton of random, useless stuff chucked in

As a person who plays Minecraft for more than just survival and multiplayer servers, I am baffled by how prevalent this mentality of old Minecraft is. Even with the nostalgia for older versions, they are so vacuous compared to the newer versions, and not in a good way. There's still some appeal, of course, but if they kept Minecraft how it was back in the release version, I would've stopped playing it eight years ago. I cannot believe he actually uses the shit old creative menu as a "positive" (The one where you couldn't access your inventory unless you placed a utility block down, the one that had two versions of the cake for some reason, the one that didn't let you equip armor). The new creative inventory is one of the best uis in the entire game for how well it works for finding things. I could not imagine trying to do anything creative in the older versions when they didn't have -Fill commands -Spectator mode -Teleport commands -Execute commands -Custom worldgen -Custom biomes with custom ambience and particles -Support for custom sounds and sound replacement -Support for upwards of 10,000,000 custom models per item (Though with the new "item_model" component custom model data is even more ridiculously limitless) -Custom items with custom names, attributes, and textures (And as of 1.21.2, almost every single item type has been broken down into tags, allowing you to make any item have any property of any tool, be equipable as armor or elytra, be consumable, shield the player from death, resist explosions, lava and fire, and definitely some other things I've forgotten about) -Custom enchantments with a frankly ridiculous number of built-in properties, all of which can be painstakingly filtered and predicated to make the most specialized items possible -Datapacks, which can use said enchantments, predicates, and advancement triggers to allow you to basically do anything with anything -Tags and loot tables which let you overwrite almost everything in the game that drops items, whether it be shearing sheep, chicken laying eggs, cats giving you gifts, the items you get from mining any block with any tool, or interacting with specific tools, or killing mobs with specific items or at specific times or in specific biomes or with specific armor equipped or at a specific level -Turning every new system into completely data-driven directories, allowing you to make custom banner patterns, armor trims, wolf variants, paintings, records, etc -Custom crafting which now supports completely unique results with custom data -Full control over every entity's attributes, including the player, which let you control speed, damage, gravity, jump height, and even size -Scoreboard values and nbt storage which allow you to store a nearly endless amount of data, either tied to individual players or the world itself And these are just the things I could think of off the top of my head. Mojang has been adding so many new features recently that even going a single major release back feels like a crazy step backward. I'm sure some people will argue "Well, I don't do technical things so none of this matters", but if the game gets so boring that you think an objectively incomplete version of it is somehow better, then you're best off looking to the community for adventure maps, or datapacks which add new features, which benefit greatly from the new systems they've been putting in place
I'm a complete noob. I first played Minecraft in 2013 and played on and off, and my only complaints about the new version are: - only two types of cave: underwater (annoying) or mega-caves, classic caves rarely generate, - ocean biome is unfinished, - ocean exploring isn't safe until you gather blaze rods, - Nether endermen are the bane of my existence, - too many ghasts, - phantoms... Otherwise the additions have only been positive minus the few hiccups.
The only 3 distict "advantages" i see with older versions is: pre 1.9 combat, and 1.12.2's batshit insane mod compatibility, and pre 1.14's much more bold textures. Although i do think post 1.14 looks a lot better. Netherrack used to be absolutely hideous.
@@danaa- Mod compatibility is why I play half 1.12.2 and half latest version. I love mods, especially the ones that change so much about the gameplay that it's a whole new experience. Java Editon is the best version, even if you lose crossplay features. Losing mod support is not a good tradeoff

I mean I don't think it's just you, beta 1.8 was half-baked anyways, for instance, despite snowy biomes being a well-established feature since Alpha 1.2, they didn't generate at all in that update. Meaning that if you play exclusively on that version there's no way to get snowballs or blocks in survival. As someone who pretty much just played creative mode Minecraft in the older versions I played survival recently and it was boring as hell. New Minecraft is better.

But the old Minecraft really had something to it. @@pavelmatusu4457 I may be making a false assumption here, but if you have set brightness to max (as many players do) the game becomes significantly less scary. If you haven’t already, try setting brightness to 50% (or even 30%). I would also suggest installing sodium (NOT OPTIFINE - see CygnusMC’s video) to add dynamic lighting to held torches as this feature works quite well with low brightness. Edit: fixed a very small error
I just love the oxymoron that is "immersive simplicity" thats like saying "Ice is hot to the touch" immersive and simple could not be any more contradictory. immersion requires a bunch complexity even if its well hidden. if a game is immersive, it is far from simple.
While I do disagree a bit with the sentiment, that immersive games can't be simple (mostly because I'd say something like incremental games can be immersive, but for different reasons than Deus Ex for example and there is the "David Cage Games" that maybe are immersive story wise for some people while nearly having no gameplay. But that's neither here nor there and are the exceptions) , most immersive games are really complex and can't be simple. There is a reason that immersive sims are so rare and mostly "just" have a cult following.

I am one of those players who kills the dragon, max out my gear and then wonders what’s left to do. But that’s why I love Minecraft, it forces me to hatch new ideas (sometimes heavily inspired from UA-cam) to build new things and feel like I made something that represents me. I build villages, castles, cities, even if all my builds look bad. I admire the players that are capable of great efforts to make their vision come to life. Of course I am impressed with speed runners, but anyone can do that, every game has that, that’s not Minecraft. Minecraft is beautiful with its complexity, sometimes the choices seem endless and hard, but that’s why I love every minute spent on it.

I only really got two problems. 1. the aesthetic is changing and i prefer the old one 2. new features are often given priority over old. here’s what i mean: when copper was added, it was given a full set of blocks, even though the other ores still lack even a stair form
copper also lacks anything helpful gameplay wise. Iron, diamond and netherite have armor and tools, lapis is used for enchanting, emeralds and gold are used for bartering and redstone is used for redstone. I think it's fair for copper to be the decorative ore.

Few days ago I played one of the old CTM maps on MC 1.2.5. I remembered it as a super hardcore challenge, dying all the time, getting overwhelmed with mobs and never actually finishing it.
It was a breeze this time. Died just a few times and when I blundered it was due to the old stuff that was new to me again (double tap sprint, one block deep water not preventing damage) and old bugs (ghasts aggroing and mobs hitting you trough blocks).
I don't even consider myself a skilled player, but it was wayyy too easier then I remembered.
Minecraft isn't easier nowadays, we just got better at it.

Edit: they (as in the community) also complain about realism in a pixelated game with dragons. It's a valid point that restriction breeds creativity. If you could simply place furniture or worse, place an entire house prefab, Minecraft would be a different game, it would be uncreative. Restrictions, on the other hand, force you to use your brain in order to come up with novel solutions to problems. That is the definition of creativity. I don't even agree that there should be fewer blocks, I think a wide palette of blocks is a good middle ground between restrictive and mindless. But it is also true that more blocks mean builds become less visually cohesive, and therefore a certain visual identity and style is lost. This, by the way, is why many people love old MS Paint and hate the idea of updates to it. Old Minecraft has the charm of MS Paint, new Minecraft has the efficiency of Photoshop.

In my opinion, I just find it overwhelming. When I look at the list of blocks in the creative inventory, it makes it feel like whatever I make needs to live up to a certain standard. In Beta, if I build a simple cobblestone castle, it feels like it fits in with the surrounding world, while it feels so out-of-place in a modern MC world.
You might say that that's a very subjective view of this debate, and... well... yes. This is a debate over personal preference. I think Beta has some strengths over the modern game, and the modern game has some strengths over Beta. One of the videos that this guy lists off at the start does a perfect take on this, and yet this video is acting like all Beta MC videos are saying "Modern MC is horrible, and Beta is superior!" No, that's not what all those videos are saying.
@@SmellyHam i feel survival mode is inherently restrictive since getting a sizable quantity of blocks usually requires setting up a farm for the specified object. maybe its just me but when i want to create massive or intricate builds i usually find i dont have everything i want/need, thus requiring me to go out and find them or trade with my friends.
sipovers "ice cream flavor" analogy kinda fits for creative since almost every block is packed into a neat little menu, but modern minecraft actually has more than one biome now, so in survival, you, get this, have to go on an *adventure*! even if its just over to the desert to grab some cactus or a quick portal to the warped forest, the abundance of new blocks and biomes encourages you to explore and try them out, but i suppose thats to much effort on sipovers part.

I am someone, who plays MC beta 1.7.3. The last version before the hunger change. I find it much more calming because of the lack of random features and the emptiness. In new versions you have villages, mansions and so on. But i still like newer versions because of the new building blocks(andesite my beloved)
Just because the dimension is called the “end” doesn’t mean the game ends there.
After you jump in that portal, be it on day 10 or day 3000, you go back. Back home. Back to where you can let creativity take control of you. Back to your endless tunnels underground. Back to the pen you keep your livestock in. Back to the field you grow your crops on. Back to where you can stay forever or leave in an instant because you “beat” the game. If it’s your only goal to just kill that dragon, then you don’t even like Minecraft.

i feel like these people who complain about new minecraft just miss being kids discovering and exploring, like imagine how cool it would be to find an deep dark and then an ancient city without knowing what it is. the rush of spawning a warden for the first time with your friends, realising it is bloind and managing to survive, or the trial chambers, imagine how scared you as a child would be if u accidentally discoverd it whilst having bad omen.

Kids who play the game have fun discovering the new stuff for the first time. Stuff we call new, but that they will eventually call "old".
And they'll say they miss the Minecraft we currently have, when they are adults.
It's a cycle of "I miss this" yet everyone fails to see the beauty of what something nostalgic has become.
I think that, besides the stuff with C418, what Minecraft has become is actually pretty amazing. Comparing the oldest and newest versions shows how such project evolve so fast.
Minecraft is infinite adventure...and we all hardly scratch the surface of it, even WITH tons of mods.

You can also see him unlocking recipes in the recipe book in the top right corner, proving you can play skyblock on newer versions, and the fact he is playing on 1.12+ probably means he prefers it.

Honestly i've always thought old minecraft was better, yet I only play on the newest versions, bc ngl, the only real reason I liked older minecraft was because there was so phew blocks that I didn't have to get good at building. I could slap down a couple of blocks and it would actually look good for it's time, nowadays I actually do have to learn how to build. Also there are just alot of amazing features which I couldn't play the game without, swimming, sprinting, hunger, elytras, better nether, better terrain genaration, better villagers, lots of useful enchantments too. So many things I just can't play the game without.

Also, I love the new biomes in Minecraft so much. My main complaint with new Minecraft is that these new additions are too rare and hard to find. When Slipover complained about the cool biomes for stupid reasons, I actually got mad.

Now, instead of one block that works best for a situation (like glowstone, for example), there are many to choose from (frog lights, sea lantern, etc.) It allows more choice and creativity there, whilst still having a good balance of restrictions.
If you look into the Minecraft design bible (it can be found publicly), you will know they intentionally avoid making a "do everything" block.

With creativity the old versions has sick builds and defense, the new versions have that on top of an ever expanding array of redstone contraptions to build, a much larger range of building blocks, dozens ways to customise your armour, and infinitely many maps to play or build and share it with people.

All of these "Old Minecraft good, new Minecraft bad" videos really make me feel like these people don't understand what Minecraft is, it seems like they come in expecting a rpg or something similar, when Minecraft is a sandbox game, the point of sandboxes aren't to "complete" the game, they're to explore and have your creativity run wild
I feel like people play Minecraft like they're playing Terraria
I mean if people want that it is fine. They can go play moded with RAD or Rlcraft. Main game doesn't need to be like that.
The only takeaway I actually full on agree with from those "old Minecraft was better" video's is that beds and villages being too easy to obtain/find severely damages any intrinsic desire to do anything. Once you have beds, there's no reason to make a pretty base, or even a base at all, since beds just let you skip the night. And villages just halt almost all desire to explore, since you have everything you need _right there._

Ikr? Like half the reason I explore is to find the perfect place to settle down and make my home. The other half is resources, especially for challenges
The problem is it’s worthless. Half the things added are worthless like polar bears, foxes, berry bushes and more so it’s less like an adventure and more like a walk through the English countryside as you will see a lot but it will be underwhelming and worthless. No reason to do mansions as raids give you totems and no reason to do trail chambers as the hammer is over kill ( no point killing the warden. On my recent play through with my friend after years of not playing we just did the exact same thing as normal as even when I tried to interact with new features I just got an inventory full of different coloured, but worthless blocks as a reward. Exact for the new caves as they are cool as they actually change a part of progression. What’s happened with Minecraft is like what’s happened with Yandere Sim with the same core barely being changed but a shit ton of random, useless stuff chucked in

As a person who plays Minecraft for more than just survival and multiplayer servers, I am baffled by how prevalent this mentality of old Minecraft is. Even with the nostalgia for older versions, they are so vacuous compared to the newer versions, and not in a good way.
There's still some appeal, of course, but if they kept Minecraft how it was back in the release version, I would've stopped playing it eight years ago. I cannot believe he actually uses the shit old creative menu as a "positive" (The one where you couldn't access your inventory unless you placed a utility block down, the one that had two versions of the cake for some reason, the one that didn't let you equip armor). The new creative inventory is one of the best uis in the entire game for how well it works for finding things.
I could not imagine trying to do anything creative in the older versions when they didn't have

-Spectator mode
-Teleport commands
-Execute commands
-Custom worldgen
-Custom biomes with custom ambience and particles
-Support for custom sounds and sound replacement
-Support for upwards of 10,000,000 custom models per item (Though with the new "item_model" component custom model data is even more ridiculously limitless)
-Custom items with custom names, attributes, and textures (And as of 1.21.2, almost every single item type has been broken down into tags, allowing you to make any item have any property of any tool, be equipable as armor or elytra, be consumable, shield the player from death, resist explosions, lava and fire, and definitely some other things I've forgotten about)
-Custom enchantments with a frankly ridiculous number of built-in properties, all of which can be painstakingly filtered and predicated to make the most specialized items possible
-Datapacks, which can use said enchantments, predicates, and advancement triggers to allow you to basically do anything with anything
-Tags and loot tables which let you overwrite almost everything in the game that drops items, whether it be shearing sheep, chicken laying eggs, cats giving you gifts, the items you get from mining any block with any tool, or interacting with specific tools, or killing mobs with specific items or at specific times or in specific biomes or with specific armor equipped or at a specific level
-Turning every new system into completely data-driven directories, allowing you to make custom banner patterns, armor trims, wolf variants, paintings, records, etc
-Custom crafting which now supports completely unique results with custom data
-Full control over every entity's attributes, including the player, which let you control speed, damage, gravity, jump height, and even size
-Scoreboard values and nbt storage which allow you to store a nearly endless amount of data, either tied to individual players or the world itself
And these are just the things I could think of off the top of my head. Mojang has been adding so many new features recently that even going a single major release back feels like a crazy step backward. I'm sure some people will argue "Well, I don't do technical things so none of this matters", but if the game gets so boring that you think an objectively incomplete version of it is somehow better, then you're best off looking to the community for adventure maps, or datapacks which add new features, which benefit greatly from the new systems they've been putting in place

I'm a complete noob. I first played Minecraft in 2013 and played on and off, and my only complaints about the new version are:
- only two types of cave: underwater (annoying) or mega-caves, classic caves rarely generate,
- ocean biome is unfinished,
- ocean exploring isn't safe until you gather blaze rods,
- Nether endermen are the bane of my existence,
- too many ghasts,
- phantoms...
Otherwise the additions have only been positive minus the few hiccups.
The only 3 distict "advantages" i see with older versions is: pre 1.9 combat, and 1.12.2's batshit insane mod compatibility, and pre 1.14's much more bold textures. Although i do think post 1.14 looks a lot better. Netherrack used to be absolutely hideous.
@@danaa- Mod compatibility is why I play half 1.12.2 and half latest version. I love mods, especially the ones that change so much about the gameplay that it's a whole new experience. Java Editon is the best version, even if you lose crossplay features. Losing mod support is not a good tradeoff
the craziest part of the progression thing is that at least half of the people who play minecraft java havent beaten the ender dragon without cheats

not beta 1.8 though! you have to install a 3rd part launcher, log in, and make sure your account is not parentally attached. then, you also have to install an old version of java. then you can play.

Edit : I just realized that Sipover is even more stupid for putting ghasts in new minecraft despite them being released when the nether came out in october 2010 .

in my opinion i think the reason we liked old minecraft better is because we were all younger back then and didnt have anything else. i do like the simplicity but i would rather play current mc than go back to beta 1.8
I mean I don't think it's just you, beta 1.8 was half-baked anyways, for instance, despite snowy biomes being a well-established feature since Alpha 1.2, they didn't generate at all in that update. Meaning that if you play exclusively on that version there's no way to get snowballs or blocks in survival. I have no idea of your opinion on current Mojang, but I know they wouldn't have released 1.18 missing something as critical as that.

Something that I realized after watching too many of this type of "Minecraft isn't like it used to be" videos is that you don't miss how Minecraft WAS gameplay-wise, you miss not knowing the game at all and being amazed by everything you found
It’s disappointing that we can’t relive the feeling of discovering, but it’s just dumb to insult modern Minecraft for an unrealistic expectation.

I do miss how minecraft was gameplay-wise. most people do. people just are naturally averse to being "old fashioned", that's why these people criticise the modern game instead of just playing the older versions, as honestly mojang doesn't need to add new things, it needs to remove things like the elytra from the game entirely.
old minecraft was better, new minecraft is just glorified creative mode along with servers that are either p2w or mini-game servers catered to no-lifers.

it pretty much means someone that only looks at something for its good points whilst completely sidelining the bad, however in this context it's being used for people that have a lot of nostalgia about something and refuse to see it as being worse than whatever newer (and more developed) version of that thing there is, either seeing it as on par with it or even better than said newer version of the thing

As a younger person in this community I miss playing 1.12 because I miss how I played back then not knowing what to do
If I didn't know anything about minecraft and I played on 1.21 I would miss it too
But the old Minecraft really had something to it. It was much scarier, the night mobs were much more dangerous and it felt much more survival focused while the modern Minecraft feels more like adventure/sandbox game and overall plays much faster.
I like both versions and I understand the appeal of the og Minecraft
@@pavelmatusu4457 I may be making a false assumption here, but if you have set brightness to max (as many players do) the game becomes significantly less scary. If you haven’t already, try setting brightness to 50% (or even 30%). I would also suggest installing sodium (NOT OPTIFINE - see CygnusMC’s video) to add dynamic lighting to held torches as this feature works quite well with low brightness.

I just love the oxymoron that is "immersive simplicity" thats like saying "Ice is hot to the touch" immersive and simple could not be any more contradictory. immersion requires a bunch complexity even if its well hidden. if a game is immersive, it is far from simple.
While I do disagree a bit with the sentiment, that immersive games can't be simple (mostly because I'd say something like incremental games can be immersive, but for different reasons than Deus Ex for example and there is the "David Cage Games" that maybe are immersive story wise for some people while nearly having no gameplay. But that's neither here nor there and are the exceptions) , most immersive games are really complex and can't be simple. There is a reason that immersive sims are so rare and mostly "just" have a cult following.

I am one of those players who kills the dragon, max out my gear and then wonders what’s left to do. But that’s why I love Minecraft, it forces me to hatch new ideas (sometimes heavily inspired from UA-cam) to build new things and feel like I made something that represents me. I build villages, castles, cities, even if all my builds look bad. I admire the players that are capable of great efforts to make their vision come to life. Of course I am impressed with speed runners, but anyone can do that, every game has that, that’s not Minecraft. Minecraft is beautiful with its complexity, sometimes the choices seem endless and hard, but that’s why I love every minute spent on it.

I only really got two problems.
1. the aesthetic is changing and i prefer the old one
2. new features are often given priority over old. here’s what i mean: when copper was added, it was given a full set of blocks, even though the other ores still lack even a stair form

it feels like now features are quite fleshed out but old ones are rarely revisited by adding to them
copper also lacks anything helpful gameplay wise. Iron, diamond and netherite have armor and tools, lapis is used for enchanting, emeralds and gold are used for bartering and redstone is used for redstone. I think it's fair for copper to be the decorative ore.

People were building amazing things with copper, and not a single person makes a meaningful build of gold, diamond, etc.
