A few notes from this concert. This is the first performance back after Nick McCabe broke his hand, this concert being rescheduled from April. This is also the first time Richard Ashcroft played acoustic guitar live with the band. Hope you all enjoy!

Interesting that this is 3 weeks before Northern Soul was out, so the audience got 2 songs they knew, the majority of the set off NS and TWO songs from 1997's Urban Hymns!

I'm so glad you've posted this. I was there! Me and my then girlfriend had popped to the Roadhouse in the afternoon to check the gig was on, as we'd heard Nick wasn't recovered. We went in the door and there were the band! We talked to them briefly but enough for Richard and Nick to recognise us when we saw them watching the support - I think it was Pusherman. Really nice guys and a truly memorable gig.
I'm already jealous of everyone that has been to a Verve gig. But you got to talk to them too? Were Richard and Nick more civilised towards each other back then?
@@floytronmusic8680 yes they seemed like normal mates really. Nothing to suggest otherwise. They had good stage chemistry, but then again the roadhouse has a tiny stage so they needed to get on!
@@michaelgibson4863 No idea what happened that year to make Richard break up the band then reform in 96 without inviting McCabe back. Shame they can't get along, the music was amazing
@@floytronmusic8680 - Verve are an incredible band! The magic RA, Nick, Simon and Pete create together is legendary. It's unfortunate they don't want to record new music together! Their collective talent is immense! Much better together than apart (solo material).....thanks for posting this amazing performance from 1995!
@@paolo-n2000 Sorry, Paolo. I must disagree. The Verve together were/ are amazing but Keys to the World and Alone with everybody- the latter especially- are excellent albums. Listen to some of Ashcroft ‘ s live performances of I get the beat or Keys to the World or On a beach:so beautiful , soulful and emotional. The man is an artist of his own. Too bad the others didn’t get as much success on their own. But there you are.

As per my other comments fron a while back, I was at this gig, and think it was me shouting for gravity grave...you can slightly pick out a Northern Irish twang at one point...probably not only me though.
It would be interesting to know how many times they played stormy clouds in 95. Not alot I reckon. Great version here though.
A lot more than No Knock On My Door and Drive You Home it seems :(
Probably some of the last Slide Away and Man Called Sun performances on tape yeah?
They played Slide Away still on the early Urban Hymns tours. I know they pulled out Man Called Sun on the 08 Tours a few times
@@champ1114I heard it live in Glasgow on their comeback gig. Saw them again at vfest 2008 but no chance they were playing it at a festival 😂
