    Thanks for breaking down the specifics of WHEN you reward, I've definitely been contributing to some of her confusion with small oopsies and this helped me see them. Well done Ms. Marlowe!! Sending the smart girl all of the virtual treats today!

      I am happy it helped! It took a lot of trial and error over the years, and learning from trainers of course. The timing is SO important. Keep me posted on how your pup does! And Marlowe says thank you😍

    At what point do you train them that “place” isn’t always on the same thing (bed, crate, towel, etc)?

    These videos are always so in depth, yet they are still SO fun to watch! This channel has cracked the code of perfection haha. Also, Marlowe’s harness looks so adorable on her; I love the contrast of colors ☺️🩷

    I am so glad I found your channel. EVERY video is so amazingly good and easy to understand. Just placed a deposit on a mini Goldendoodle, and will bring him home in January. I'm confident I'll be well educated by then on how to train a puppy thanks to your content! Thank you!

    Bark box has some super creative minds working for them! I’ve enjoyed reading the theme comments with each toy…definitely entertaining for us, and the toys are good quality for the pups.

      I think I enjoy them more than the dogs if I am being honest 😂, and they last so long that my friends' dogs enjoy them once we switch to a new month. Win win!

    Love your videos!! Can you do a video of how you take care of your pups paws? I have a senior who has dry paws even after using a moisturizer. His paws get dry. Also thanks to you, I got him to love open farm ❤ he has so much energy now. For anyone wondering he is 15 and turning 16 in November 🥰

    Quick question, how do I stop a puppy from exhibiting dominance over my other dogs. He behaves around us, but as soon as we leave, he goes right back to his previous behavior.

    My puppy has been with us for a week. We bought a crate but before we did we just had a dog bed(he loves it) Should we move the bed in the crate? Also should we move the crate to our room at night? Its in the living room where we spend most of our time

    But what do you do if 1) the dog barks on the place or 2) goes on the place by itself and won't wait for the free word to get off?

    • @tanyasobsessions2131
      @tanyasobsessions2131 Рік тому +6

      It could mean you are going too fast. I say this because i've seen dogs bark out of frustration because they aren't understanding the concept yet or because they have been conditioned that barking gets them attention etc.

      You put them back. It’s just like a child. You show them that if they get up before they’re allowed you put them back. People are against telling their dogs no and correcting them. It’s ridiculous. Dogs need positive reinforcement and to be taught what to do. But they also need to be corrected and told no and shown that certain things are unacceptable. To put it simply. We teach the dog what is good. And once they display that they understand what’s expected. Then choosing to blow you off and say idc about your treat I want to run out the door. That will be corrected. The dog has the ability to make the right choice and knows what’s expected and deliberately chose to say screw it im going. That has ti be corrected. This is where force free/positive only (which doesn’t exist. Withholding the reward IS punishment. So it’s an oxymoron) fails. You can not correct deliberate bad behavior with positive reinforcement. You need PR. But it’s only half the equation. If I give you 5$ to stop at a stop sign. But no punishment for running it. Eventually you’ll run it. Then you’ll need more money to be encouraged to stop. This is why we get tickets. Because corrections are necessary. But we don’t get anything for following the law except no punishment. They have a reward or possibility there of for doing right and a correction for deliberate disobedience. That’s even more fair than how we operate. I hope that makes sense. There are many “balanced trainers” That suck and correct dogs for things they don’t understand (with the exception of safety things. If a dog tries to run out the door. That HAS to be shown that it’s unacceptable even if they don’t know any better. Why? Because if you don’t there may not be a next time. You have to correct first and teach later in that case) it’s just the normal way living things work. Reward and consequences. It’s inhumane to do anything else.

    • @RachelFusaro

      Once she starts offering the behavior, and I see that she is starting to really get the concept WITHOUT luring her, that is when i start adding the cue!

    I would love to see this done with a Husky that doesn't want to be told what to do. Mine is incredibly smart. He did everything I said when he was a young puppy. As he has gotten older, he picks and chooses when he wants to obey. He hates being on a leash, so of course, he figured out recall usually means he is going to be leashed, so now his recall is terrible. Before he was 6 months old, he had perfect recall.

      I feel your pain as a fellow husky owner. How old is your dog? Mine is just a year. We have doubled down on hard training again. I can see it working slowly but oh boy our frustration level is through the roof sometimes.

      How old is your dog? He may be going through a regression stage, which lucky for you is temporary!

    • @RachelFusaro
      @RachelFusaro  Рік тому +1

      My dood, Fin, went through a rough patch around the ~1-1.5 year mark. We adopted him at ~3-4months old, so i think his regression period came a bit late but we kept with it and it's paid off!

      @@RachelFusaro about 15 months old. Once he gained his independence at around 6 to 8 months he began sneaking out of the gate every opportunity he could and the dog park is not fully gated so he would sneak off into the neighborhood. I have noticed recently he doesn't try and sneak out and go for adventures as much. He has gotten out a few times and came back on his own. My biggest issue is his dominance. He is a natural born alpha. Also ever since he was a puppy he would be triggered by dogs that squeal or are over submissive. I don't have a lot of opportunities to train him around other dogs because I worry he is going to get into a fight. It's never with the dogs he grew up with. It's always with other not neutered dogs. It really bums me out. He was the perfect puppy. Followed me around everywhere. Learned a whole bunch of tricks at 9 weeks. Sometimes it's overwhelming.

    My dog chews the bed when I ask him to go to his place. How do you stop that?

    • @tanyasobsessions2131
      @tanyasobsessions2131 Рік тому +1

      they make beds that are chew resistant i think. also you could give him a chew toy or toy with food in it to give them an alternative action. I would also give them more mental enrichment in general in their life. it could also be a sign of anxiety so you may want to seek out a trainer to help address why they are acting the way they are.
