4 Roses Barrel Select is like six roses, six of the recipes blended together instead of the 4. On the one hand Single Barrel is higher proof and more flavor, it's only the one single recipe. It's plenty of flavor but it may not be the particular recipe you like. You have to get much more expensive store picks of the single barrel to get access to the other 9 recipes. Lots of room to pick something you like. But may take a while and best to get some samples before you decide on what recipes are for you.
I pinned this so people can get the correct info. I saw it was only 4 on a few sources. Dang it!

@@whiskycentral It's OK, the regular Small Batch that is four is easy to mix up with Barrel Select that is six. Not your fault 4 Roses themselves have the names too similar.

Am a complete single malt scotch snob but I do love Four Rose's Small Batch. This is the only Bourbon I will drink.
yeah I love their single barrels but this was not a favorite.
This was one of my first love Bourbons but also taught me a lesson in batch variation when it broke my heart. 5 years ago bought my first bottle of this. There were only two very dusty bottles pushed to the back way up on the top shelf. It was Magic ! Went through the bottle in a couple of weeks. Went back to the store and they had a big end of aisle display with lots of shiney new bottles. Brought one home and there was no Magic in that bottle. I was crushed but learned a valuable lesson. I love this and for the price I'm in the UK I think it's really good value. Its my daily drinker. Bourbon is less available and more expensive here.

The small batch select is good. 104 proof and is pretty deep on the nose.
Single Barrel, there are soooo many good ones, and some great ones!
Four Roses is an absolute favorite of mine. I've been keeping a Four Roses SB on my shelf almost constantly, plus I really enjoy the Small Batch Select but it's a bit out of my price range. At the very least people should give the Small Batch a shot, and I agree it is a bourbon I'd use in a introduction tasting event for first timers. 🖖😎🥃
Yeah IDK why it tasted so watery to me. I tried it many times, and it just kept coming off watery. Maybe I got a bad bottle

Four Roses Small Batch was my first bourbon I ever tried earlier this year and I would say it served as a good intro. I definitely agree with your review though that it’s very light tasting with just a small kick on the throat. I too would probably not buy again. I tried Knob Creek 100 proof and so far that’s my go to favorite.

Great review, I enjoyed this, but it was also to general or lacking depth. Which surprised me since I had heard so many good things. Wish I could get OGD 114 in my market. Oh well, great recommendation!

Tell us what you really think! Yeah, this one disappointed me too, particularly for the price point I paid. Fortunately, I only bought a 50 ml bottle. I've been picking up small bottles of different brands and sipping them while I watch your reviews. That part is extra fun. Thanks for the videos. Cheers.

Haven't tried this one. The SmBSel is pretty good but I prefer the SiB. Just picked up first SiB BS SP and looking forward to that one. CHEERS!!
