Four Roses Small Batch is a surprisingly good bourbon for $30! I did a blind taste test with that one and 6 other bourbons. Small Batch came ahead of Angel's Envy, Old Forester 1910, even Woodford Reserve Double Oaked! It tied with Maker's Mark Private Selection! Blanton's Single Barrel came in at #1 during the blind taste test! It was a fun test, and it's amazing to truly taste a bourbon when uninfluenced from criteria such as price and brand name!
Love this small batch. So sweet and subtle. A bit more complex tasting than standard 4 roses. VERY enjoyable!

Great review. First whiskey review I’ve watched where the review spoke about the impact of the yeast on taste.
The more I drink it. The more I appreciate it. I was introduced to bourbon with Knob creek..So my standards for bourbon have been high octane. However this certainly hit different. I look forward to seeing what truely differentiates bourbons, and whisk(e)y alike!

I love the regular four roses small batch. Might even prefer it over Blanton’s or Eagle Rare. So enjoyable and inexpensive.

Hadn't had it in a while and got to pick it up on special for $20 and have really enjoyed the balance flavor. A daily sipper here folks if you can spend the time and money!
Awesome bourbon, for it's price it's one of the best IMO.
I also get some cocoa with the caramels at the finish. I think for the price it's definitely good, and if you like fruitier bourbons this is 100% your ~30$ choice. However I'd say that makes it more unique, if I wanted something more classic (vanilla, caramel, oak) I'd go with a Knob creek. Thanks for the review

Great description of the Small Batch flavor. Four Roses products are a warm weather must for me. The liquor stores stayed open here in NJ, but when I thought they were closing due to COVID I went and got a Small Batch and Single Barrel. I could not stand the thought of a nice spring night relaxing on my deck without some Four Roses to sip on!

This was an early one in my Whiskey journey. Bought it on recommendation of the Whiskey Bitch. (That was a while ago) First one I got was MAGIC there were just a couple of dusty bottles on the shelf. Went back for another and there were lots of shiney new bottles. Got home and tried the new one and thought "hey what happened to the Magic?" That is when I learned about batch variation. Cheers

Need to pick one up. I have only tried their single barrel which I really like.
I sat down with a brand new bottle of Four Roses Small Batch and watched this video. I nosed and tasted it for the first time along with you. I was getting the spice, caramel, and light oak initially but was not getting the "orchard" flavors. So, I'm sitting here for a moment and I noticed a familiar taste in my mouth on the finish. It was the same aftertaste I get from eating a fresh peach! Amazing. You are my bourbor guru.

Picked up my second bottle of this tonight. I am enjoying the neck pour as a night cap. Opening the bottle, I got a distinct Cherry note which is nice.. At present, I also have a bottle of the Single Barrel on my shelf. In addition, I have Brooklyn Brewery's Four Roses Black Ops Beer 2019, which used barrels of the recipes for Four Roses Small Batch to age their Russian Imperial Stout. I was present at the initial roll out tasting party. There are 2019 and 2020 vintages. These are bottle conditioned beers; so the beer continues to develop in the bottle due to residual yeast. The 2019 vintage has nice bourbon features in the beer notes. I am looking forward to comparing and contrasting!

This is my first bourbon purchase, I don’t have a whole lot of others to compare with, but this to me was very creamy a very very sweet. Are you telling me that there are other bourbon is there a sweeter than this? This was plenty sweet for me. Good video thank you.
I’ve been on a go to bourbon hunt for while. Blantons was the prize to try and I finally was able to taste it. Blantons was the best I’ve tasted hands down but unavailable. I then decided to try Four Roses small batch. Winner! I found my go to bourbon and the search is over. Just a great sipping bourbon. Flavor to me reminds me of Blantons more than all the other brands previously tried. Many good bourbons out there but Four Roses wins as it’s available and for the price.

Saw you mention that Pikesville Rye is your go to sipper. I love Whistlepig 10yr and was wondering what you had for a comparison.
Four Roses Small Batch is what got me into bourbon 4 or 5 years ago. I should try it again along with the single barrel.
I actually think its more complex than the single barrel but also doesnt have the proof and punch the SB does. both are great!
Same here first bourbon I ever had. It’s my go to when I just want a good night with a cigar. Never a bad time with this bourbon for sure.
You can always depend on this offering and it gives you something a little bit different in the FR range. I'm quite partial to a bottle every now and then. Cheers Jason.

I think it is very underrated. One of my go to Bourbons.
I’ve been sipping on Whistlepig Piggyback recently. First rye and I like it. Still haven’t ventured into any 4 🌹

I’ve since had many bottles that I enjoy more but I always wonder if the first bottle I had bought would have been something different would I be as deep into bourbon as I am!? Just trying this tonight. I really like it. $60 in tax heavy WA. Next time I’m out of state I’ll pick up a couple bottles. You are absolutely correct introducing new whiskey and bourbon drinkers to this small batch.

I always pass this up but I've been on a budget bourbon kick lately. Recently tried Elija Craig Small Batch, Buffalo Trace and was impressed. I'm gonna have to stop off and hit this up next time I venture out for food amidst the RONA.
Definitly. More spice than both EC or BT so its different but still delicious.
I think I like the small batch better than the single barrel.

just took my first drink of this, so i wanted to see reviews because it was different from normal bourbons to me.
i smell vanilla, but the taste is new to me. its almost like a spiced peach
Since this is my favorite, what other bourbons should I try?
New to bourbon just bought a bottle of this and a bottle of knob creek 9 year old. I hope these are good choices to start with

Hi Jason, Appreciate all the reviews but I have to disagree with you on the Four Roses Small batch. For me it a distant second compared to Four Roses Single Barrell.
Alot of people feel that way. But I think this one is actually more complex than the single barrel. The single barrel is one recipe compared to the 4 in the small batch. But your not wrong. It's all about what you like. Cheers!
In ATL... can get this for the same price as Russell Reserve 10 yr... hard to pick 4R SmB with that 🦃 in the same price range

Very confusing lettering....why not “S” for spice and “F” for fruit???? Unnecessary confusion.....that being said, I do prefer 4R Small Batch to their Single barrel regardless of price.
