The Deanston 12 is great, I try to allways have a bottle att home. If you can get your hands on The Deanston 2008 Bordeaux Red Wine Cask, 58,7%abv....grab it!!! One of the best red wine maturation I've tasted so far.
Deanston 12 is, as you mentioned, one to always be on the shelf. For me it is the combination of taste and complexity along with, importantly, a reasonable price. The best thing to teach to people just getting into scotch is that you don't have to spend huge amounts of money to assemble a really enjoyable collection of whiskies. Deanston teaches us that quality and value can be used in the same sentence. Thanks Shayla, we always enjoy your stuff!!!!
Yes almost all my bottles are under 100 euros. Ok like a Bunnahabhain 18 sometimes and occasional an octomore I buy I don't all was have. I can drink scotch under a 100 euro for the rest off my life.
I had an issue with corks on a couple bottles of Redemption rye crumbling . Found a couple cut glass decanter's at the Home Store for $9.99. Hampton Decanter.
I wonder if it's just a coincidence but I always end up watching your videos before a fun afternoon of day drinking. Great review as always and cheers!
Deanston 12 is a fantastic dram. I had seen Ralfy and Roy both show high regard for it, namely that they both had this as their whisky of the year at one point, and bought myself a bottle. After trying it, I had to get a second, it's just that good. Love the cut grass and dry hay toward the back of the palate, going into the finish.
As always, great review, Shayla. I've had plenty of those wine cask finished Deanstons and the Virgin oak, and they are all excellent. Never had the 12yo. I was wondering how you thought that 12yo compared to the Clynelish 14 and the Arran 10? Cheers from 🇨🇦
I haven't had Arran 10, only 14. Arran 14 is drier and friggin wonderful. Clynelish is heavier, has a smidge of sherry influence. It's not as bright and crisp, a little bit more of a winter/fall dram. Deanston feels a bit more like a spring-summer dram, has a great texture. kind of in-between Clynelish and Arran 14 in terms of sweetness. :)
@@whiskycentral You should really buy the Arran 10. Its price/quality very good. And again a good example that great scotch single malt doesn't have to be expensive.
Damn, I’m new to whiskey and I had this with dinner last weekend and thought it was delicious. Now I can’t decide to pick up the Talisker 10 or Deanston 12. Everyone on the T10 comments claims it’s there favourite dram but all love and praise goes to the D12 over on that video’s comments. Help!
I love Deanston 12. Talisker is a great option, another great bottle. It is peated so has some pretty intense flavors that you may or may not enjoy. Not sure if you've tried peated whiskies yet. Talisker is a bit salty, briny, little pepper. If you have more questions/comments feel free to message again. Welcome! I hope you enjoy your whisky journey.
Deanston 12 is a brilliant scotch, one of the best bourbon matured whiskys out there and so affordable, at least in my neck of the woods (Denmark). Thanks for a great review :-)
I only had 2 drams off this in a bar. I always want to buy this bottle. But if I buy like 8-10 bottles a month I always buy or need a new bottle off something that I have. Time to pick it up next month I guess. It's a highland scotch not an islands or Islays like I always buy but yeah I liked it and the price is wonderfull here (40euros actually not even 40 it's 39 something). So I will buy a bottle. And I guess I bring it for a tasting with my whisky nerds I mean friends.😛 Always keep corks off other bottles.

Really enjoyed the review. To the point. A great deal of info. Love the outtakes, too.
Thanks James!!!
Yessssss! Still the best blue B roll.

Another classic Whisky Central video!🥃 Love this Deanston. Cheers Shayla🥃
I appreciate the 'you might like' suggestions. It would be good if more youtube reviewers did that
Hey Raeth, I am so glad you like it! I Hope these help. I am just trying to help you buying more whisky, haha. ;)
Great history and insight into the distillery. An excellent whiskey too, and thanks for sharing your thoughts on this great dram!

Agreed. I'm pretty sure you've mentioned that you're a Clinelysh fan, so would love your thoughts on differences or preferences.

Love Deanston 12 almost as much as the outtakes. You should give Aultmore 12 a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Got to save those corks.. I have a little box of corks from each botle I finish, just in case. Lol
Parabens, direto de São Paulo, Brasil! Amo seus videos!!

For some reason I thought you had already reviewed this ? Maybe because you have it on livestreams. Cheers Shayla
I did a video about wormtubs vs shell and tube and I used deanston and craigellachie in the thumbnail. :) That might be it, haha.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
Looks darker than it used to be..has it changed recently? The perfumy flavour used to put me off,to be honest...😧
