Marcus, does another epic EV charging test in Spain in 2023. Is Spain now better for EV charging after many failed charging attempts in his VW ID.3 in 2022. Watch that here: • Charging an Electric V...
Does Marcus find many failed charges on this trip from Merida to Salamanca?
Marcus tests the following apps: Zunder, Wenea, Waylet, Tesla, Ionity, Iberdrola, Miio, Enel X Way, Oeste and Electromaps. - Авто та транспорт
This helps me a lot! I'm bringing over my home-converted 1973 Porsche 914 to Spain, the ship docks in about a week. It goes through technical inspection in Alicante and then I want to drive it up to home in Barcelona. I've got lowly 3.3kw AC Type 2 charging only so I'll be making a stop every 80km or so. I looked on PlugShare and there are 272 Type 2 chargers shown along the journey so I should be good, but I'll definitely sign up for every charging network before I set out. I'll make a video on my channel about my nail-biting journey!
That sounds like a good project and adventure 👍. What size is its battery? Best of luck.
@@marcusevjourney566 It's 32 kwh, made up from six Tesla Model S battery modules. I made a series of videos about all of the latest upgrades here: ua-cam.com/video/Lhzl2Md_3us/v-deo.html
I just signed up for all of the charging networks you mentioned, and used your code for Miio. :^)
Hi Marcus, great videos, very very good!
regards from an old friend!
Thank you Jorge. 👍. Are you still near to me, we should meet up over lunch or dinner. It would be great to catch up 👍
Good video, thank you! The app to charge in ENDESA chargers is called Endesa X Way. I often use it and works fine. Cheers!
Thank you. I have tried the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and I cannot find this app. I think it is probably not available in Portuguese app stores. What country are you from?
@@marcusevjourney566 I'm from around Barcelona; yeah, this app is probably only downloadable in Spain
@@marcusevjourney566 The official name of the app is Enel X way. Bit strange, but they offer a big network, and good value in AC charging.
Once again thanks. Super info before my trip from Denmark to Portugal😊
I enjoy making them 😀
Thank you for such an informative report. I plan on traveling through northern and central Spain soon and will keep your experience in mind…
Thank you Adrian. Have a good trip 👍
I still find northern spain very difficult for charging. I love the Zunder plug and charge feature.
First stop....KEMPOWER CHARGING TECHNOLOGY ! Kempower rock!!
They look fantastic. A Kempower setup is currently being installed 500 meters from my home 👍
@@marcusevjourney566 WOW! That is like an EV LOTTERY WIN!

Tesla Bjorn, is that you? :^)
Thank you sharing your experience in the Badajoz, Cáceres and Salamanca region.
What was the overall energy consumption in this big round trip?
Thank you, Lisboy. I don't know what the consumption is for this round trip, but it does not make sense for this trip because I stopped so often. The next video will be Salamanca to Lisbon, and the one after that is Lisbon->Madrid->Lisbon in one day. On those trips, the consumption is interesting 😃
Am doing UK to Galicia in my ID3 pro S this coming summer, what apps do I need?
Watch the video as it tells you which charging apps are available, and if you are coming through France watch my recent French charging video. Then using ABRP and ChargeMaps plan your route, see which chargers are on route to know which apps will be the most useful for you.
I hate using phones and apps to charge. Card all the way.
I absolutely agree 👍 Zunder, Miio and Wenea allow autochange, which allows you just to plugin the cable. I need to do another video to test this feature 👍
Wow! Where are all the cars? Here in the UK are motorways are full of traffic and in such bad condition. Your roads look so nice! I guess the UK helped fund for your roads thru the EU...
In Portugal, we have to pay a toll on the roads, which is about 10 euros every 100 km 😱 In Spain most of the motorways are free. Look on a map between Merida and Salamanca. There are few populated places between that is why the roads are empty 👍 In the UK, it is more densely populated.
Why would anyone have a non-Tesla EV?
I think there are now lots of good non-Tesla EVs available.
@@marcusevjourney566 I've spent the last 12 hours thinking really hard about all the non-Tesla EV's out there and am now absolutely sure about my original question. I can see no logical or sensible reason why anyone would want a non-Tesla EV. I'll spend the next few weeks giving this considerable more thought, just to be fair. But, the harder I think about this, and the more research I do on non-Tesla EV's the more firmly I adhere to my original question.
I don't think I'm alone here. Many (most) of the traditional automakers who (reluctantly) ventured into EV's are now sprinting away from the technology as the buying public discovers how crap their cars are (and expensive to boot)... Yet demand for, and sales of, Tesla continues to grow exponentially.
@@brunosmith6925 There are a million of reasons not to buy a Tesla. To mention one: that terrible Musk.
So the EU is basically useless. After 40 years of integrated banking policies what happened to you last time was a disgrace.
I agree 👍 We should just be able to turn up to a charger and use contactless payments. It should just work.
... until your card account is hacked and some skulduggerous crook cleans you out. Inconvenient for a card to be blocked, but not as bad as fraud. Ask me - I know.
Do not use IONITY as a matter of principle. Awful.
What do you not like about Ionity?
@@marcusevjourney566 VW controlled like Electrify America, expensive, unreliable, basically a Compliance Charging Network.
The exact opposite of FASTNED and TESLA.
Your pronounciation of the Spanish names are just terrible. Why is that accent on Cácares?
Cáceres, that is.
I have never learned Spanish 😂👍
@@marcusevjourney566 The content however is great. You tested all the Spanish network charger companies. I like to add that with Iberdrola and Endesa X, you can contract a certain amount of KWH’s in advance via their app, For only around 33 ct/KWH. That is really good value. It’s on a monthly basis, like Ionity.
