  • Here are my 4 favorite exercises to REDUCE SHOULDER PAIN using a Theraband. These are great for any shoulder injury and will help strengthen the shoulder muscles and and stabilize the shoulder joint. These exercises also are focused on the Rotator Cuff Muscles. If you are having Shoulder pain you can perform these 1-2 times a day for 2-3 sets of 10 repetitions.

    Thanks, Dr. Brown I just finished pt for shoulder pain, and I'm pretty pain-free but want to continue at home. What you show in this video is exactly what I did in PT ... I was going to try to get pullies for my home and they told me to use these bands. Your video reminded me of the correct way to use them. Thank you so much.

    Been suffering with shoulder impingement off and on for years. Hope this helps, looks like the best way to do these and I love how professional and calm you are! So tired of all the full of themselves instructors and they often give advice that hurts. Should I do these every other day? And maybe take weekends off?

    Thank you, Dr. Brown. I saw some instructions mentioning that for internal and external rotation it's critically important to get a towel between the elbow and the side of the trunk. Is it necessary?

    In the last exercise called internal rotation you have shown.. How we actually do it.. With my thumb finger on upwards or in the direction of the band.. I asked bcs when i do it with the thumb finger in the direction of band coming i can feel the sounds like crackling or some kind of sounds from the joint while im doing it.. Bt when I did it in the way you have shown like thumb finger up there is no sound from the joint
    So how we actually do it
    I already have a problem of like shoulder joint slips and come back in the same moment.. It mostly happens when i do something quickly or doing something with my hand or muscles loosely

    • @PhysicalTherapySanPedro

      I teach it with the thumb up bc that is the neutral position of the shoulder and best was to do it. Sorry for the late reply !

    Are these exercises enough to prevent a repeat shoulder dislocation?If not, which other exercises should be done? Thanks a lot

    • @PhysicalTherapySanPedro
      @PhysicalTherapySanPedro  4 роки тому

      Parichay Verma that is. A complicated question. When you are dislocating that means the shoulder is unstable. These are stability exercises and great for shoulder health but I recommend adding several stabilization exercises into your shoulder programming if you are a chronic dislocator.

    • @kristenrocksfrags8584
      @kristenrocksfrags8584 2 роки тому

      What exercises would you recommend for that? I subluxed my shoulder 7 years ago I think, and I have injured it every few years since then. I never got it looked at, but I was using one of those ab dolly’s at the gym, and it jerked over to the left while I was fully extended, and I felt my left shoulder pop out for a second. It was so painful, and it took me about a year to get most of my strength back. Not sure if I’ve dislocated it since then, but it feels like I pull something in the back of my shoulder and my lat when I injure it. I can’t do pull ups anymore, but I can do weighted chin-ups so that’s interesting. Just messed up my shoulder again last week for the first time in 2 years so I’m taking a month off from lifting, but I thought it would be good to try these exercises for a while to see if that helps my stability.

      @@kristenrocksfrags8584 I am sorry I missed this reply. If you are a chronic dislocator I would suggest you do some physical therapy for that. There are a lot of great PT's around that can help you. If you are local to San Pedro we can help you in clinic. We also do Virtual PT if you are interested if not local. Good luck!

    • @PhysicalTherapySanPedro
      @PhysicalTherapySanPedro  9 місяців тому +1

      I can not promise a full recovery because I do not know your specific condition, but I can tell you that thee exercises help reduce shoulder pain by strengthening the rotator cuff. I would recommend doing them 3- 5 times x a week for 4 weeks.

    • @PhysicalTherapySanPedro
      @PhysicalTherapySanPedro  Місяць тому

      Hi! No that is not true. You were told wrong! The pecs and subscapularis muscles are both internal rotators and they need to be strengthened if they are involved in a shoulder injury and just for general shoulder health.
