    The last few months I was having bad pains in left shoulder. Thought it was RTC tear this whole time.
    I was "hanging" which helped, however, today I tried these exercises. I can't believe how much it helped like 1000% just the first time while in gym. Something opened up and feels like the "impingement" was subdued or minimized and I went thru my workout feeling great with little to no pain.

    Yes please Dr Yoni - your digital family member would love to see more shoulder pain relief exercises. I have been in shoulder pain for at least 7 years. I know my left shoulder is in a rounded forward position which causes poor alignment when walking resulting in chronic shoulder, upper Thoracic, low back pain and sacrum pain pain. I do have your head l lb weight which I am working on to bring head back. Thank you for the insightful and enjoyable video on Shoulder Impingement! I've personally experienced this issue before, unknowingly overworking my shoulder during a project involving painting, wall sanding, and heavy lifting. Initially, I disregarded the mild discomfort, trying to soldier on with my other arm (which turned out to be a big mistake). However, the pain escalated drastically by the second day, making any movement unbearable. Upon consulting a doctor, I was diagnosed with medium to severe inflammation in my neck, trap, and rear shoulder areas, necessitating painkillers and cortisone injections. I subsequently dealt with intermittent inner-joint discomfort, fearing it might be a permanent issue.
      I'm now visiting Dr. Yoni's stretching advice and revisiting other resources to share simple steps with my mom until I can assist her personally. Since incorporating shoulder, lats, chest, and back stretches into my life routine, my shoulder issues have thankfully vanished. Additionally, using a handgun massage tool and various stretching techniques using the floor, wall, and door frame has significantly improved my range of motion. I've come to understand the importance of full-body stretching and maintaining an overall range of motion, particularly for those who work out, as tight muscles and restricted mobility can lead to such problems. Thank you again for the invaluable insights, and I wish everyone a swift recovery!

    I echo what other people wrote. I had been dealing with a shoulder with limited movement for the past month. Upon doing your exercises, I experienced a 90% immediate improvement. I also appreciate the knowledge regarding my posture as I think this might have caused the issue in the first place. Hope your work can reach more and more people that may be in need (and in pain) around the globe. Thank you.

    Thank you. I can feel a difference in pain from just following you through the video as you did it. I have been miserable for 2 weeks. I’m hoping these exercises will help. The band is helping my hurt shoulder be able to complete the rotations. My healthy shoulder is able to pull up the injured while using it. I can see how the simple use of a band makes so much sense. How it aided the hurt shoulder gave me an aha moment.

    Gobsmacked! you summarised everything that was wrong with me in the first minute or so. I have been telling my Doctors that I thought a lot of the problem was caused by poor body posture. I am elderly, worked in a stooped position for years over a computer, have rounded shoulders with a forward head position and a lack of strength in my upper arms and shoulders. I am diabetic so my tendons are not in best shape anyway. Not one of these exercises has been mentioned to me. I have had this for over 6 months and have difficulty sleeping so I shall definately try these for a couple of months 😀and report back. Thank You

    This is the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen. Provided immediate relief of pain from impingement in both of my shoulders after the first set. The pain did return later in the day. Hopefully the relief will be long lasting over the next few weeks as I continue to perform these exercises consistently. Question I have is how many times a day should this routine be performed?

    • @painfixprotocol
      @painfixprotocol  14 днів тому +1

      So glad it was helpful! The number of times per day will vary from one individual to the next. But I would typically start with with 1x/day and slowly increase to twice or even three times a day - as long as there is functional improvement and no soreness (from the exercises).

      @@painfixprotocol At the time I didn't know if I had shoulder impingement or a torn rotator cuff, I tried exercises in many videos for both. Since this exercise was so affective, I would assume I had impingement and not a torn cuff? Do these exercises not work for torn rotator cuffs as well? Thanks so much again!

    Dr. Whitten, I had long head muscle tear in my left arm since last year. I've tried all kind of Impingement, shoulder pain exercises in in last 12 months. And I've learned to just live with the pain. I seen a specialist back when it first happened. And he said there was no concern for X - rays or a MRI's. I'll give myself 4 weeks of your exercise a try. I'm hoping for some kind of relief. Thank You, Chris

      Sorry to hear of your injury, Chris. The rehab protocol for a muscle tear in the long head of the biceps is very different from a shoulder impingement protocol. If you're still in significant pain, 12 months after the tear - having tried multiple conservative treatment options - then imaging is absolutely warranted (and overdue at this point).

    Thank you for this video. I think this is my problem so I'm going to try these exercises for a couple months as you suggest. However, if you happen to read this, can you please let me know if the following description of my particular issue sounds like this video does indeed apply to it?
    My issue: If I throw something small very hard with my right hand, my right shoulder will hurt immediately and it will take several days to return to "normal". The same pain can be caused by doing certain repetitive motions for 20+ minutes with my right hand (sanding wood by hand or playing the electric guitar). When it's in a "normal" state, certain movements are still uncomfortable and can cause a grinding/popping feel/sound. The movement that causes the grinding/popping starts with my right hand in front of my sternum, elbow raised to be parallel with the floor, and with my thumb pointing at my sternum. Then if I raise my elbow up and slighly to the right (my thumb changes from parallel to the ground to pointing down a bit), the pain/grinding/popping occurs. The other scenario that causes pain but not grinding is if my hand is at my side with palm facing out and I raise my arm straight out in front of me. This only happens if there is resistance as I raise my arm.

      You're welcome, Philip! The weekly volume will vary from one individual to the next. A good rule of thumb is to find a volume that creates an increase in functionality without causing any fatigue or soreness afterwards.
      Importantly, for best results we would modify workouts to remove any movements that may be contributing to the shoulder condition. Once that's been done, the before or after question becomes much less significant. What's most important is that it gets done with regularity.

    External shhoulder rotation has been a weak point of mine for ages. Its best to address it while you are still young as its a real pain to fix when you are old lol. Widening the grip width on the shoulder roll exercise brings the band closer to the back of my head to the point where i risk scalping myself :)

    Summary of workout and frequency:
    2x Band assisted shoulder extension 10-15sec, attemp higher two more times for 10-15 sec.
    2x Double hitchhiker 10-15 reps
    1x shoulder rolls 15-25 total reps
    Do this once a day for 4-6 weeks. Twice a day if you can work up to it.

    Thanks! Does this also explain the failure of apley's scratch test with one arm vs another? I feel both sumptoms of pain when raising arms up sideways and when trying to bring the right arm up on my back. Left arm is fine. I was diagnosed with spondelosis and had 3 months back and neck stiffness and loss of balance. Balance came back but I can feel the tightness of the right shoulder and upper back on the right side. Head MRI down to C3 and Cervical Xray only showed slight loss of neck curve and light spondelosis and neurologist said might be bad posture due to long sitting on pc. I wonder though if I need a shoulder and full back Xray (3 years ago chest Xray showed randomly slight scoliosis) and MRI in case the issue are the back muscle/tendons. I used to sleep always on my right side. Now it hurts if I do that and I avoid to prevent further shoulder rotation inwards. Not sure if my next step is to see an orthopedic doc and then tests or rheumatologist or directly to a physiotherapist . I am doing stretching at the gym so far...If you have a video on how to improve rotation on the back pls share. Thanks a lot!

    • @painfixprotocol
      @painfixprotocol  2 місяці тому +1

      Apley's is one data point but, other tests (and a good history) are needed to form a complete clinical picture. Without more information it's hard to say what the next step is in your case. But a thorough assessment should be able to determine which issue(s) are of primary importance - starting to address those things would likely help some of the "downstream" issues.
