- The MC40a Light Cruiser was a Mon Calamari ship that was able to capture Imperial ships more than twice its size, act like a damage sponge in Rebel Fleets, and lead Rebel Spec Ops groups in both ship to ship missions, but also against space stations and planetary targets. See a Star Wars ships size comparison and stats breakdown, and history of the MC40a Light Cruiser.

I like the diagram showing the layout of turbolasers/ion cannons/tractor beams, here’s hoping that this style of diagram continues to show up!
I just realised the mon cal shipyard logo is similar to Star trek’s federation symbol...
Starfleet, not UFP. Common point of confusion though it is like mixing up the US Navy with the US Government.
I think it might be intentional given how, at least in Legends where the symbol came from, the Mon Calamari are described as "Soft spoken and gentle with a passion to explore and seek out new civilizations" and are very famous for their engineering/scientific prowess in both canon and legends.
Sort of a fun nod like how Alderaan and Dagobah show up in itineraries and maps in Trek.
Good point
Well both are a bit hippyish lol
Redshirt thanks for the correction, I don’t know much about Star Trek lol

No problem. Always happy to help out.
4:28 wtf this armor is cool why we haven't seen Rebels do stuff like this in canon?
Those are the SpecForce Marines they were trained and composed of Clone Wars Veterans and Clone Troopers. Rex is considered the founder of the Marines.
Paul Steinhauser is Rex the old Rebel on the forest moon of Endor in legends as well then or is that exclusive to canon?
@@drew2626 Yes he is on Endor.
Master Windu Rex is alive during the battle of Endor. He is the one who has the white beard.
Andra Safir Gemintang yes I know that I was just asking if it was the same in Legends
One of my favorite Rebel missions in X-Wing Vs TIE Fighter was one where you had to cover an MC40A from an ISD until it could jump into hyperspace. It's a tough mission, but that light cruiser was just tough as nails and holds up pretty well. I've loved the MC40A ever since.
This is the perfect case of quality over quantity
This will be an amazing support and escort ship for my fleet, one of the best underrated cruisers out there
Please more breakdown of the Rebel SpecForces.
We'll be waiting.
Oh yeah I’d like to see more canon sources of the Rebel Alliance SpecForce to along with their Legends history as well.
"You can always count on the fish folk engineers."
Well unless you're a Mandalorian meeting them on a small remote waterplanet
He got a lot of work done for a measly 1,000 credits. And that probably included the hoist out of the water and the parking/refueling.
Mon cal make awesome ships
Yes I've been so excited for this!
Can you do the complete history of luke skywalker, my birthday is coming up and I share the same birthday as mark hamill
Happy Birthday for when it happens. May the force be with you.
I hope the MC 40 will come to star wars armada soon.
Here's hoping. Always love having another fish ship in my fleet ^_^
I have never heard of the MC40A before now but this video has convinced me that it is one of the most underrated ships in the galaxy. I can easily imagine a group of these light cruisers absolutely dominating in combat. All ships should be this well balanced. The Mon Cala really know what they’re doing.
Here we go another review another ship to the mon calamari arsenal also what do you think of Darth revan becoming canon
I think it good
Nice vid, as always
Oh my gosh! Such a great ship and video!
Love your channel dude I don't have the knowledge to even think about tackling the Star Wars Universe you do so well breaking everything down to digest :)
Good work, keep it up!
Great vid.
Hey mate, keep up the good work!
In regards to the little diagram for the weapons layout: in the future, you could run a different symbol for "batteries" of weapons or if they are singular weapon system.
YES!!!! one of my favorite SW ships!!! Awesome!! Thank you for sharing that with all of us!!
Another great upload from emperor Metanerdz
Still hoping for a video on the Tunroth species.
Keep `em coming!
Good vid.
I don't know about Calamari Flan, but local exchange rate for 15,500,000 credits is about 31,000,000 bad fish, 7,750,000 good fish, 15,500,000 small fish, or 15,500,000 big fish.
In the free Star Wars mod for X4 Foundation game by Egosoft, called "Interworlds", MC-40A light cruiser is represented in two different configurations: standard (called "carrier" for some reason) and torpedo one. Beautiful external model and great fun to fly this spaceship. It can bear a lot of beating, indeed
I did like those designs that I first saw in X Wing vs Tie Fighter. I also liked the MC80 from that game, too.
I love the artwork from the comics you showed, what is the earliest storyline (phantom menace onwards) that uses it?
Metanerdz lore do a complete breakdown on the starhawk, the full stats are out for it.
I would like to see that.
@@alem1655 yes
The model of thrawns revenge for this ship looks much better
Great vid btw
2:32 this looks better than the canon model
I like a ship able to take on multiple roles
MC95 Star cursier, Metanerds!!
Remember: Mon Cala engineering plus Rebel hit and run tactics are the stuff Imperial nightmare are made of!!
I kind of like the idea of using an MC40 with several U-wings to disable and board enemy vessels, perhaps with around 4 X-Wings or other snubfighters to cripple other systems and provide cover.
nice!
Cool!
What backround song do u use for this UA-cam Vid. I wanna use it too
How many of these ships, would you need to take down a executor class star dreadnought???
20 probably
I mean I think it depends on fighter complement, who is Commanding the vessel’s and would have to see the specs for the star dreadnought
1... plus an A-wing and a Death Star.
fish people always makes the best products, I mean look at Aquaman.
(viscount is pronounced vi-count. The s is silent for weird linguistic reasons.)
Great video about a ship that deserved more spotlight.
What's the background music in all of these videos?
A pretty unknown ship I want to see next is that yellow ship Jar Jar and Padme rode in when they were looking for the source of the blue shadow virus. I have never seen any mention of it before.
the thing that throws me off is this render of it I much prefer the TR render
Something I theorised......... akbar is mon-calla a fish like androgynous being (breath in and out of water) we have also seen them go down VERY deep into the ocean meaning there bone structure is very dence and strong. And there skin can handle rapid temperature and pressure fluctuations..... so when he was blown into space in the last jedi. he WOULD logically survive longer in space than humans. And potentially been able to be saved with little injury
Just a thought...... bring him back lol
I'm glad it's canon so far.
How good were the Mon Cala light Freighters? Did they have anything to compare to the Correllian YT series?
I'd say a ship of this size is way too OP. But it's the shields that make the ship OP. This is the most perfect ship for special operations.
Is it just me but this looks a lot better than other MC model ships
Hope u can make a video of what types of Earth made vehicles are suitable in the Star Wars universe?
None
@@Joel-wv2oz get lost!
Hovercraft would suit waters like lakes of Naboo..and subs too maybe?
@@pyeitme508 what, i just said that no Machine on earth could be in the star wars universe, jeez kids these days...
neil murphy probably not since I’d say even the Gungan subs seem way more advanced than any we have on earth
But, most important of all, remember, the Lulsla was a tough little ship that went down swinging, and the Force will be with you, always.
My flagship would probably be a 700-meter heavy cruiser with
0.6 hyperdrive with a backup 2.0
25 heavy turbolaser batteries
25 point-defense laser cannon batteries
25 medium ion cannons
Carry 1700 troopers
80 starfighters and 12 troop transports
Ace P1zza 100 million credits
Ace P1zza my ship, my price lol
@@macwelch8599 you tripin
19j Haugh like the Vindictor class?
Ace P1zza ok, would you accept 350 million credits?
She's a gun boat that can take a Hell of a beating in small scale engagements and punch well above her weight class. Honestly, if I was to set up a space navy, I'd want my ship captains for these drawn from submarines and amphib guys. These would make excellent boarding party platforms. That way you can disgorge troops well away from your own capital ships.
I love the Mon calamari
This ship...
I like this ship.
My loadout. Cripple than pummeled your targets. Because fighting fair is an early ticket to the force.
Ok I want a Star Wars novel hero ship involving the MC40a.
Hello there
*GENERAL KENOBI*
Hows everyone doing
I would get 6 of these for my rebel cell and 10 hammerhead corvettes and 1 mc80 and 2 carrier ships filled with x wings!
It's been made canon again.
They are good fish people
You'd think ships that are twice the length of a Nimitz would be able to carry more starfighters since it has a smaller crew and no need for recovery and launch systems.
My only issue is the lack of scorch* marks on the top of the hull behind those massive thrusters in the artwork of the ship
Edit: typo*
Hello
Each craft fills a purpose…
Some much better than other....
We’ve seen plenty of SpecOps craft, MetaNerdz Lore. Which ones are #1 in their respective roles & such…
HOW do they feed and supply these huge crews for so long? they would literally have to fill huge chunks of the ship completely with food, water etc...
almost like hard light shields from halo... during that over charge in empire at war.
I want one lol
Hi
What kinda bugs me is that this thing is pretty much an ISD in the sense that it has no point defense
Algebra
#metanerdz #metanerdzlore
This was basically the 1st starhawk before the official design
Good video, but you need to check your pronunciation of "viscount."
Why didn't we as humans turn their entire planet into sushi bars? I sort of see humans doing that.
So Mon Calamari/Quarren Star Cruisers. What are they? Because in some instances they are literally skyscrapers with engines bolted on. In others they are civilian ships/cruise ships/star trek style exploration science ships. And others they are purpose built warships. But they all look the same?! Do they build sky scrapers to look like spaceships, that also look like warships? It's so confusing.
Too bad we didn't get one for Armada.
The mc30c will always be the best mon cal ship
Was the empire getting ripped off on the star Destroyers? If thier was only one company that's quite a monopoly
It's twice the length of a Nimitz/Eifel Tower but only has storage space for 50 Warheads for the Launchers?
Yeah a lot of those numbers are silly
Depends on how big the warheads are and how the rest of the ships space is being used.
Too big for Phoenix, but great for spec ops
One of the best ships is the mc40a
When you think about it through out the original movies we've been cheering terrorists on with every storm trooper and imperial officers killed.
I would pay much money for this ship in Armada. You hear that FFG and Disney! MUCH MONEY!
Comment for the algo
Just wish some of these features were usable in Empire at war. It always seems so weak in that game.
TIL about a very sexy ship
Algorithm pleasing comment
I hate this ship with a passion. In Empire at War the Republic loves to spam these. One battle they had 80 of these.
It's pronounced vi count not Viz count
He didn't even mention the viscount, idiot
