They also sum up Vice Admiral Kamikaze Holdo: "LUDICROUS SPEED, NOW!"
I hate that this is true. At least the military was not as dumb as the government.
I see your swarchtz is as big as mine
Mon mothma was naive, a strong military is imperative to a independent nation
It is both NEW, but yet still resembles older ships liken the Nebulon B and the Old Republic Hammerheads, so I think it's a good fit.
Honestly it looks like the Gravestone ship from the Old Republic game
@@Montyandrew45 You know, I played through this about a week ago, and you are right. More than just a passing resemblance too. Although if that forward port is a cannon that can destroy a fleet, I'll eat my hat.

My thoughts exactly :)
She may be an Ugly but she's beautiful to me.
2:10 that's literally my reaction to Mon mothma's decision to de-militarize the Republic
Her decision makes no sense honestly
It's not like she went full Duchess Satine pacifist. The remaining fleet was more than enough to defend against pirates and slavers, and there was no reason to keep more than that when they were at peace.
Honestly that part of the new lore is so dumb I honestly cannot believe it was given a creative green light
The decision makes absolutely no sense. The Legends version made sense.
"OK, the Empire is still out there and they COULD potentially give us problems later on. Plus, there's pirates and other outlaws harassing shipping lanes. Let's retire the order ships and replace them with more modern and versatile ones."

Not gonna lie, this ship is a beauty to behold.
Both Powerful and Beautiful
I like to see it as an offensive shield in fights
It kind of functions like a shield rush from Roman times when they would run into combat with their shields covering their bodies and would bash their enemies into the ground
Imagine if the Resistance had at least one or two of these things. These ships could have gone toe-to-toe against Resurgent class star destroyers.
Prince Of Pokemon they did at one point and they were part of Inferno squadron. But God knows what happened to them.

@@raantan6683 ditto. We couldn't even see it the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 game.

"You wouldn't have your guns pointed to the back of your own ship."
All of them? No.
Some of them? Abso-friggin-lutely. There should be no direction that a warship can't point at least some of its guns.
The Omega class destroyer from Babylon 5 is a good example
I thought that at first, but he didn't mean pointed behind the ship. He meant pointed at another part of the ship behind the guns.
It reminds me of the gravestone from the old republic expansion knights of the fallen empire
*Smuggler shouting profanity.*
What if some madman put the Omni cannon from the gravestone on the Starhawk with the tractor beams. That thing would take out 24 ships and broadside any ships that remain
I hope we Will one day see the Gravestone again in the movie but i hope it won't be destroyed
While I'd agree with the resemblance of the two, there is a strong semblance that the designer of the Starhawk drew heavily from the Gravestone. However the Gravestone was an Old Republic POS, I think the Starhawk brings a fresh new concept to an overall perfect feel that the Gravestone gave.
Yeah, I also thought of the Gravestone at first, and laughed while remembering the chapter in SWTOR where you’re fixing the Gravestone and have the cutscene where some beasts outside are trolling the heck out of HK 😂

Tragically inept. The Rebels are always rolling the dice on some risky one off mission, when they are suited at the very least to be a near peer adversary to the Empire. All that seemingly ever was required was a simple concentration of force at at a strategic objective.
In 1941-42, the Allies were having their global asses handed to them everywhere. By mid to late 1943 it was completely the opposite, with the Axis and Japan backpedaling on all fronts, never to recover.

The irony of Kylo's first order being taken down by a defected force of the Empire, piloting vessels assembled out of the corpses of Imperial ships, would be a delicious sight indeed
but this ship was built 30 years before the first order, it would be like useing T-55 tanks vs M1A1 abrams tanks (and we should all know how that went)
Lord Solar Matthius Should yes, but Star Wars has always been kind of unreliable in terms of ACTUALLY developing technology. The only thing that seemed to get better in the Empire times were shields and firepower, which is still debatable at times.
Other tractor beams: Issard's Defenders had tractor beams which Rogue Squadron found all sorts of uses for in maneuvering.
Richard Reavis yeah using them to anchor to larger objects to slingshot around
In wraith squadron they used tractors on the captured ship to hold on to the moon and kick up a smoke screen and move around in it
Or that time when Corran tractored Yag'Dhul station in 'Isard's Revenge' to get around the starfighter screen. It was a simulation, but good enough
also, nearly all geonosian fighters use hundreds of micro tractor beam emitters to achieve extremely high maneuverability. check out the nantex class as an example.
It’s still no Nebula Star Destroyer which in my humble opinion is superior to this ship, plus its pretty cool design.
Oh what I would give to have that back
Neil Brown But they are higher quality fighters to be fair
@Neil Brown its a kilometer shorter isnt it? A nebula is just over 1km were an isd is 2ish you have trade something even with the more advance tech and fighter hangers need lots of space. Those squadrons are also much better than tie fighter veriations the imperial remnant has.

That front "hanger" could every well be an omni cannon for all we know at this point.
@@rekonener2362 I don't like the Starhawk because I've heard that it's one of this ships that has plot armor. For example the Starhawk that destroys the Ravager nearly gets destroyed because every Star Wars destroyer is shooting it but then it activates its plot armor and manages to kill the Ravager. I'm fine if main characters (the hero) can't die because the whole story is about the hero but I don't like when Disney gives the rebels unbelievable strength just to let them win.
@@threnn9509 Withstanding both numerus star destroyers AND a full barrage from and SSD AND THEN still being able to activate the tractor beam and pull the SSD out of orbit is a bit much for what boils down to a ship built from star destroyer remains. When an SSD is a fleet in one ship AND it had a dozen ships around it (I would say no less than 100 at least cause final stand and all)
I mean yes, the Gravestone can be considered to have plot armour, BUT we have to remember that SWTOR tech is perhaps the most advanced in all star wars media (save for the ancient stuff like Rakata), and the Eternal Empire's tech is even more advanced, and the Gravestone was built to take on and destroy the entire Eternal Fleet. So, the gravestone can be forgiven because it's built to 1v(how ever many) more advanced ships. In fact it was only destroyed because the plot going forward needed to be out of the story.
@@rekonener2362 I was talking about the Starhawk when I mentioned the plot armor. I'm fine with the Gravestone being "OP" because it's some kind of encient and long forgotten advanced technology and it's legends and legends has a lot of very powerful weapons, ships, heros, etc.

WHO IS HERE AFTER THE REVEAL OF STAR WARS SQUADRONS AND THE STARHAWK PROYECT???
I'm here after seeing Starhawk in action in Squadrons.
@@PaiSAMSEN it was awesome
Yup I played as well and this ship was the point of contention for the empire remnant. The front is not a fighter bay, it's part of the tractor beam system designed to pull enemy ships in and actually pull them apart as it does so. This includes the ships weapon batteries. It's a cool sight in the game when you see it in action.
Seeing it being built in Star Wars Squadrons will be awesome
It looks very similar to the Gravestone from SW:The old Republic. Coming into the video I believe it was an upgraded Gravestone, a Gravestone copy, or a ship trying to best replicate the gravestone.
2:10 summarizes how i feel about the new republic.
Lol pretty much
Wa wa wa. If we build ships to protect our citizens from pirates and slavers we'll look no better then the Empire.
-But we're supposed to protect them. How will we if we don't have ships?
I'm going to ignore you. Also, we need to keep changing the location of our capitol every few years. We'll look like the Empire if we settle in one location.
-Buh, wha?
Legends’ New Republic: “Hold our beer while we absolutely demolish the Empire with our own superior Star Destroyer designs.”
I love the look and feel of the Starhawk. This might be heresy, but I like it more than the Nebula, as it has its own unique style instead of just copying what the Empire did but doing it more intentionally.
I like them both. The Nebula has a sleeker, more modern look but the Starhawk looks sturdy without being blocky or too angular. I'd love to see them operating side by side.
"own unique style" "looks like the nebula"
That thing reminds me of The Gravestone from SWTOR
This is definitely my fave starship addition to the new canon. I just love it.
Thanks for the breakdown. Awesome work as always.
Thanks man that is great to read I'll keep em coming!
I just realized in the newer Star Wars Battlefront 2 video game in the campaign where you're on jakku you actually call down bombardments on 2 AT-ATs from Starhawk Unity
The whole scene with the Ravager SSD crashing into Jakku was so cool and it gave me chills! And now knowing that ship was the one The Millennium Falcon was flying through is so awesome! As always, keep up the good work!

Nope
lmao NOPE originality is a little to high above JJ's pay grade
Given how a Starhawk was able to drag an Executor-class Dreadnought out of orbit with its tractor beams, I think it's safe to say a Starhawk could toss an ISD aside pretty easily.
There’s a phrase.
“Show, don’t tell” Star Wars has been doing a lot of telling in books but restricting the “show” to various character and forces having overwhelming power that as far as movie canon goes is unprecedented and ungained.
I like how we see these in Star Wars Squadrons.
Its definitely better looking than the other Resistance ship designs (excluding the Raddus, but that design is pretty lazy). Hopefully it will appear in TROS.
Aka the ships who's design hasn't been revealed for 4 years
Lol that's true
Yes, we waited for so long
I wish we saw at least one of them in The Rise Of Skywalker. Or in the Resistance fleet in The Last Jedi.
Prince Of Pokemon Ideally, it’d be great to see, but this is Ruin Johnson and KitKat Kennedy we’re talking about here. Lucasfilm as owned by Disney will drop the ball in some way, shape, or form
@@thisiswhatilike54 Who knows though, bcs if you look at the final season of the Clone Wars, you see that Disney is not totally against handing the reigns back over to George's team. That is when the real magic happens.
I love the Starhawk's design
Yeah for sure
Looks like a really cool ship with an awesome name
Yeah I agree
Other tractor beam uses. Thrawn disabled the cannons on one side of a republic ship and used tractor beams to hold it next to the side of his ship where the shields were failing to create a block so other republic ships couldn't hit that side without shooting an ally.
Not quite. If you used Thrawns tactic, it wasn't so much the affiliation as the mass of the vessel. You'd literally have to frag the other ship to tiny bits to get to your actual target - which would give time for maneuver or rerouting circuits for the shields/weapons on that side. Interesting tactic though. The British Navy used something kind of similar for a tanker going to Malta - two destroyers were lashed to her - using their buoyancy to keep her floating until her cargo could be offloaded.
I really liked everything about this new ship.
I do hope that it will make an appearance in EP. 9.
Enjoyed watching this vid, stay AWESOME!
Hey thanks man I'll keep em coming!
You should do a video on all of the new republic ships and their timeline to give a better understanding of when these things were introduce. Of all the story lores Star Wars is the most convoluted for me, just when I think I got it something changes.
Yeah that's a really good idea I just wrote it down
The onager, the harrower and the interdictor sith destroyer are my favorites
Don't forget that the domes are sensor domes with shield projectors around them. This would give the ship mutiple or redundant sensors.
Not gonna lie. I loved that you used the Yamato for comparison. She’s just a bit shorter than an Iowa class so I can actually imagine how massive the starhawk is.
Too bad his Yamato graphic is twice the scale of everything else in that comparison pic...
I can’t wait to see the Starhawk in action in Star Wars Squadrons
It tossed around a Star Destroyer like nothing with it's tractor beams array.
I don't get it. The star hawk has more guns, more powerful guns, stronger shields, more engines and a highly advanced tractor beam system when compared to the Imperial Star Destroyer. It also has absolutely no visible sign of the enormous reactor that is required to run the ISD. Where is all this energy coming from?
I think it one of those things in the new canon that don't realy make sense because they are just made to be super op because the creator think it cool.
Yeah that's what I was wondering too. It could be in that rear section, or perhaps multiple smaller dedicated reactors for the different parts of the ship like engines and weapons.
@@MetaNerdzLore The other option would be a new way more space efficient reactor design, but give that the ships are being created by bolting bits of old star destroyer together, its hard to imagine they have the time or resources for such a project.
7:08 If you think of the death star's superweapon that is basically a massive laser formed by several other smaller laser beams, you could think that those are just like the Death Star's superweapon.
You should try 3D modeling of Star Wars ship in the future. Also great video as the Star Hawk is my favorite canon Battleship and New Republic vessel.
You know, i like the idea of weakening the "neck" of an ISD and then just using the Tractor Beams to just rip of the bridge. .
That’ll show them to put there most important part in one of the most vulnerable places
is this the first canon picture of a Starhawk? It is!
Yezzir
One of the coolest things the new canon has delivered and we never saw it on screen.
I wonder if the Starhawk has escape pods just in case if something goes south with this ship?
Yeah sorry 2 of them
I think you missed a hangar bay between the markings - the longer launch ramp connecting to a "shallow" hangar bay.
In addition the art definetly make the side bays look like the weapon positions for those "blue" ISD impacts.
I hope that we get to this ship in Episode IX.
@Mario Perez I hope that someday people will stop crying about the last jedi (I didn't like the movie to but GOD DAMN man its a movie chill. You are litterly spending everyday of your life on talking trash about a movie).

I agree with you man, this ship is pretty dope!
I normally dont like ships that have a tall body in starwars but this is really really well made.
People allways compare it to Nebulon-B and Keldabe and while it does look like them I think it resembles Valor class from SWTOR, what with it's engines on a spire bellow the ship. Still, a great design. Hope it's fetured in 9.
I love the size comparisons, it is always like that when using imperial units.
The Starhawk-class is my new all time favourite Star Wars ship class.
All I want is to see one of these pulling up beside an enemy ship and absolutely SHREDDING it apart.
If only using kyber crystals didn’t violate the proverbial Geneva convention, maybe they could add more firepower to it without overpowering the ships power output
At least, I think kyber crystals are classified in such a way. I wouldn’t be surprised
Didn't the captain of the punisher go crazy and thought that the only way for the empire to live on was to plunge his ship into the amity?

The ring of tractor beam emitters at the bow makes sense. If you make a head run into an Imperial fleet, you can use that tractor beam array (possibly more powerful units than standard) to hold your target in place. Then, it would make sense that the forward opening is as much a missile bay as it is a fighter bay. Trap your target and then hit it with a barrage of heavy concussion missiles.
one heavy duty rail-gun could prove pretty useful there...
@@sleepingbackbone7581 True. Despite the video saying it is a ring of tractor beam emitters, my first thought was that it was a straight up weapon system, thinking of the Imperial Torpedo Spheres from the EU. The main weapon emplacement there was a cluster of heavy turbolasers ringed with concussion missile tubes. It was intended to overpower planetary shields. The missiles would launch and create a gap in the shield, and why the shield system was cycling to fill that gap. the turbolasers would fire and take out the shield generator. And for a ship that appears to be designed to punch thru enemy battle lines and blockades, this is what I thought would be the more advantageous weapon system to have on the bow.
This is my new favorite ship in canon. In episode 9 I want to see a starhawk take a resurgent star destroyer in its tractor beams and yeet it into another star destroyer.
Yeet that bitch
Lesson of star wars has taught me that demilitarization leads to destruction
If they don’t have this in ep. 9 then I’ll be pissed. Even though I don’t have much hope for that movie anyway.
