Just cook it like I do in the video, you can remove it a little less time. But most of the time that is a result of overcooking. While you can cook a fried egg in the air fryer, like I show, I don't necessarily think it is the best way. Nothing beats the classic skillet way of cooking an egg. Cook for 3/4 minutes, flip, put it in for another 2/3. Nothing wrong with a flip, you'll have to experiment on timing because all fryers and pans (and eggs!) are different.
Shames there’s no way to cook the top of the yolk, and still have a runny yolk. I can’t stand it if the top of the yolk isn’t cooked as you end up with what I call “snot” or uncooked goo 🤢 Watching your video has given me some ideas. I’m thinking of trying to add a little extra oil, then take out part way through to tip and hopefully spoon some onto the yolk …. fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that cooks the yolk but leaves it runny. My husband would eat them exactly as you’ve cooked so thank you, I will definitely be making him some ❤
You certainly can. Cook it a little longer, or flip it and cook a minute or so and make it over easy. :) Or try spooning the hot oil on top. Lots of experiments you can try. And you are welcome!!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt fantastic, thanks so much Matt!! Those are great suggestions to try. I’ve only just gotten my air fryer….. so far I’ve only done jacket potatoes 🤣 so I’m trying to be brave and and make something a little more difficult!
The yoke isn’t coated ,in a frying pan oil or fat would be splashed over yoke ,or even the whole egg turned over to finish cooking the egg correctly. It’s just not good enough ,hope you don’t half cook the bacon as well .
I guess you have never heard of sunny side up eggs?? The yolk is cooked correctly. It doesn't need oil splashed on the top because the heating element in the air fryer is so close to the food and blows the very hot air on top. Sorry but you don't know what you are talking about.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt We don’t go in for all that sunny side up malarkey here in the U.K. . We like our eggs done properly & no lame excuses. Hot air fryers have their uses & I have one in my household ,but it’s a proper frying pan you need on a gas ring to knock up a decent full English breakfast . Several rashes of smoked back bacon ,4 thick Cumberland sausage , black pudding , 2 eggs , a few spoons of baked beans ,mushrooms ,tinned Italian plumed tomatoes .plus 4 or 5 rounds of toast & butter ,washed down with a couple of cups of strong coffee or tea . That breakfast you cooked wouldn’t touch the sides nor feed a man who does a hard days graft. Promise me you will get your act together, sunny side up indeed !
HAHA oh you are from the UK that explains it :). Sunnyside Up eggs are super popular here in the States. And indeed the egg yolk is cooked. Overeasy is still my preferred way to eat them, however. And yes a full English breakfast is pretty awesome minus the beans and blood sausage. Americans don't like beans for breakfast at least the majority do not. But give me bacon eggs and hashbrowns (country fried potatoes or potatoes obrien) any day with toast or English muffins and a bowl of strawberries. @@maskedavenger2578
@@inthekitchenwithmatt We heard about them alright we see it in USA TV & films shown in the U.K. . The term you should be using is over easy & get them eggs cooked properly like here in the U.K. Tried them horrible hash browns they are tasteless ,get some proper black pudding down yer neck instead , made from animal blood & guts ,they are yummy with proper brown HP source . The baked beans & the Italian tinned plum tomatoes prevent the breakfast being too dry, gives you something to mush your toast into , to wipe around your plate & Into your gob & down your neck ,before you have a good old burp . 👍
Then you didn't try hashbrowns that were made properly, cooked in butter and bacon grease seasoned with pepper, salt, and garlic powder, nothing tasteless about them. And no, black pudding is gross, haha. I know what the baked beans are for, but doesn't mean I like them for breakfast, tomatoes are fine. When you have a runny yolk the breakfast isn't dry. Agree to disagree. Have a good one!@@maskedavenger2578
As long as the yellow is a little runny that's fine but when you get that white that looks runny then it looks like you're eating somebody's spit that's disgusting
did not work . yolk did not cook. white part flew all over into the heating element. apartment smells and is smoky. this was less than two minutes. used a small air fryer. never again
Ummm. I don’t get it. Why go to the bother of using a pan and the air fryer with oil and go 3 1/2 to 4 minutes? I do it on the stove with a pan and oil in about two minutes. Am I missing something?
If you read the comments you can find people who's stove isn't working currently. :) This is by no means the best way to cook an egg, just how to do it in the air fryer. And if someone doesn't have a gas stovetop, it takes longer than 2 minutes. It takes 3 or 4 just to heat up the pan.
Yes air fryers are literally small convection ovens. BUT NO they aren't exactly like other convection ovens because they are much much smaller and the heating element is much closer, so they do cook a bit differently in such a small confined space which is how it can mimic "frying" without the need for so much oil. Regardless this is how you cook an egg in one.
If I can do it you can do it said the brain surgeon to the novice nurse ..Hmm..But many thanks I’ve just bought my first air fryer and desperately in need of help .
That isn't the point, this is merely a "how to do it" in the air fryer. I never said it is better than a frying pan. But if your burners/oven aren't working or you don't happen to own one because you are in an RV, small flat, etc. Then here is how to do it.
You said the temperature in C and F.... MY HERO!!!

Have you tried wax paper/Baking sheets?
Wax paper would melt. You mean parchment paper @baddragonite
Real butter is hands down the best thing to use when cooking eggs. Seed oils are horrible.
Then use real butter if you want they are your eggs. Or use olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. Tons of options.
Use EV Olive oil … much healthier.
perfect... your egg is still intact.

How to make a fried egg in a frying pan 👉🏻🍳
And a stove top, sometimes with space constraints an air fryer may be a good option.
@@paulabarnes3351 Thx Paula! I got my 1st small air dryer yesterday and I'm clueless! If I want to flip the egg over medium, can I do that? I don't have stove yet. Micro and crock pot only. I'm seriously craving my fried eggs!! Blessings❣
Perhaps you can cover it after half cooked with parchment paper. I tried Matt’s recipe today and used 2 eggs and need to experiment for success.
Cook for 3/4 minutes, flip, put it in for another 2/3.
Nothing wrong with a flip, you'll have to experiment on timing because all fryers and pans (and eggs!) are different.
Not Possible in my Hoarders Apartment where there is no room for a Pan
Matt loved this upload I will try this today on toast ,thank you

Shames there’s no way to cook the top of the yolk, and still have a runny yolk. I can’t stand it if the top of the yolk isn’t cooked as you end up with what I call “snot” or uncooked goo 🤢
Watching your video has given me some ideas.
@@issy-wizzy You are welcome! Have fun! I have several air fryer videos on here, check them out! :)
No mention of pre-heating … so, I guess it doesn’t apply? …
Yes no need, if you air fryer is already preheated from something else, it will take a little less time to cook.
How about rice
I will make a video for it. It is pretty easy to cook rice in an air fryer, and takes only a few minutes longer than a traditional rice cooker.
Same as in a frying pan…yeah.. yeah…..yeah
As long as the yellow is a little runny that's fine but when you get that white that looks runny then it looks like you're eating somebody's spit that's disgusting
Yeah I don't like runny egg white, like you said it is disgusting.

Thank you!
I put my egg in and it straight burned every thing
Your heat must have been way too high

How is this even close to frying eggs in a frying pan? Waste of a good egg.
Who said it was? This is how to make a fried egg in the air fryer.
It's not. It's not supposed to be
Why?
Read the comments.
If you still feel this way, please reply to this comment I'll give you a list you a list. ;)
did not work . yolk did not cook. white part flew all over into the heating element. apartment smells and is smoky. this was less than two minutes. used a small air fryer. never again
Sorry to hear that. Works perfectly fine for me in my air fryer.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt maybe because i have a smaller fryer? a lot of my foods go flying into the heating element. glad yours works
Yeah that very well could be the case. Especially if it happens a lot with other foods.@@robertasmith-r2d
I had to come here too lazy to fry
haha
You can't fry anything in a Air Fryer, air fryers bake food just like any convection oven
Seed oils ☢
Use avocado oil or coconut oil then if you don't want to use seed oils
@@inthekitchenwithmatt No plant cholesterol baby, only animal fats
@@Joe-kt7zp Bacon grease then!

Surprised it didn’t burn the bowl
I didn't use a bowl, that is a metal cake pan. Which is designed to be used in cooking. :)
If I can do it you can do it said the brain surgeon to the novice nurse ..Hmm..But many thanks I’ve just bought my first air fryer and desperately in need of help .
hahaha. I have lots of air fryer recipes here on my channel. Have fun using it, they are great!
No! It is NOT perfect! Good perhaps but not perfect as it has brown edges.
YES perfect. For some people the brown edges are their favorite part!!
It takes the same amount of time as in a frying pan. Don’t get it. Don’t we use an air fryer to save time. Well I do, for sure!!!!
That isn't the point, this is merely a "how to do it" in the air fryer. I never said it is better than a frying pan. But if your burners/oven aren't working or you don't happen to own one because you are in an RV, small flat, etc. Then here is how to do it.
@@inthekitchenwithmattyes, this is my situation. Our stove broke and we can't fix it right away. Thank you for the tips!
